Absolutely the best fish and chips we have ever had! Stopped here on recommendation while en route from London to Margate and will definitely come back!! Like no other chippy near us ! Great staff and lovely location.

Great food , friendly staff will definitely visit again we had seen this place on tic Tok and thought we would give it a try and we were not disappointed

Very disappointed at the portion size and price, £4.50 for a large bag of chips, such a small amount. They were not even nice, overcooked and hardly any potato inside, mostly crispy bits. Only rating 2 star because of the speed of service.

Delightful service from Ronnie, very chatty and happy, chips were nice too with plenty of salt and vinegar, just how I like them

Just placed an order of 1 medium chips, a saveloy and a can of Coke - what should of been £8.60 I was charged £13.10! Absolutely disgusting that they think it’s ok to charge £4.50 for a delivery fee.. nun of the other chip shops charge that much. Wouldn’t be as bad if the food was nice, the chips are greasy and stink of fish 👍🏽 The saveloy is grey inside 🤢

The time I spent waiting for one piece of fish to be cooked was ridiculous. From placing my order I was kept waiting at least 50 minutes! There were many other customers coming into the shop after me ordering the same fish and walking out with their orders long before me. I questioned the girl serving how much longer my order was going to be and why other people were getting their orders before me and she really wasn’t bothered and was flippant in her reply. Terrible customer service and no apology at all for being kept waiting so long! Will definitely not be returning!!!!!

We ordered and collected, what a disappointment. The fish was definitely not cod, this is surely this is against trading standards as they charged for Cod. If they had said no cod today and charged accordingly then I wouldn’t have minded. I’ve given it 2 because the chips were delicious and I want to give the benefit of the doubt.

If I could rate this place lower than this, I would. Very disappointing food… the fish definitely isn’t what it’s advertised to be! The chips tasted gross and like dirty oil. I expect they are advertising and charging for certain types of fish and providing the cheapest fish type they can possibly get… clearly they think the customers are stupid. There is too much excess of this dirty oil on the food too. Also for the price of the chip portions, they have got to be the smallest, puniest portion sizes I’ve ever seen from a chip shop…. In this instance I was glad because they were vile and I couldn’t eat many as they were tasteless and cooked in dirty oil. Don’t even get me started on the battered sausages, worst sausages ever, not even sure they are sausages… so pappy, pale and probably the cheapest sausage I’ve ever encountered in a chip shop. I know chip shop sausages aren’t meant to be the best quality but my goodness these had no taste at all and you cut into them with a knife and the texture is definitely not one of a sausage but a pappy mess which I expect is all the parts of the pig that you wouldn’t want to eat, if there is any pork in them at all! So if you’re reading this review… I’d save yourself the disappointment and go elsewhere… you’d be better off buying the cheapest value frozen food from the supermarket- I expect it would have more taste!

Decided to visit this chip shop and saw advertised in the window “ Mini fish and Chips for £5 ! So I ordered 2 portions pointing out the advert to the person behind the counter . He replied that it would take 10 minutes ,to which I replied that’s fine and took a seat . When the food was ready I was beckoned over and was shocked and taken aback to be asked for …… £13 And not the expected £10 ! I pointed this discrepancy out but the lad behind the counter wasn’t interested and just said “ That’s the price …. And it’s wrapped up now ! “ I politely stood my ground and said that the price was wrong and pointed to the ad in the window ,at which point the owner intervened and got stroppy with me ,speaking partly in English and partly in another language . He said that £13 was the right price and it’s going up again next week ! I replied that whilst I know the price of things is going up , that’s not the price advertised in the window . He at this point still in a temper came round from behind the counter and said he was changing the price in the window …NOW ! I said that doesn’t help me in this current situation . At this point I reluctantly paid the £13 and took the food home . The chips were ok but the fish wasn’t cod but a cheaper fish , pollack ! On reflection I’m upset and disappointed to be treated like this and can’t believe that a village fish and chip shop dependant in its village community should treat a member of its village community so badly . Some serious consideration needs to be given to the level of customer service and satisfaction in this establishment . If I was the owner last night the very least that I would have done was to apologise for the wrong price , let me have it for £5 each and say the price from now on is £6.50 each ,but the owner didn’t do that and just threw a strop and not giving a monkeys about customer satisfaction . It goes without saying that I won’t rushing back there again anytime soon but will use The Minnis fish and Chips in nearby Birchington where I know what the price is and I don’t get cheap pollack served up as cod !

Having had a very busy build up to Christmas this year. We decided that we would treat ourselves to a meal at Archies. We were not disappointed. The food we ordered was exactly as described, tasty and served in a timely manner. The quality was great and the customer service was a treat. We are not from the area, but will definitely visit again in 2022.

Used to visit regularly, but recently the fish has been cut thinly and I have never seen staff wearing a mask.

Loved Archies and have been coming frequently since it first opened. But have recently noticed a severe downturn in food, service and most definitely cleanliness!! There doesn't appear to be anybody 'in charge', and the place seems to be run by a couple of kids who just appear to want to muck about and shout at each other!! When the drivers come in - it's like party time! Even the older guy who does the cooking lets them get on with it. Went in the other evening and while I was waiting some people wanted to eat in the restaurant - but there were no clean tables. They might have had a busy evening - but it certainly wasn't busy when I was there, so somebody could have made the effort to clear a table - but nobody bothered! So sad to see such a lovely place - that was an asset to the village go downhill so badly.

I've just eaten probably one of the best Pieces of skate I've ever had it was so big the fish was on one plate the chips another my wife and granddaughter had the small cod it wasnt great proper fish and chips

The guy behind the counter or owner got all our order completely wrong £21 for a takeaway for 2 people extortionate. I found my food tasteless the chips were all tiny we only wanted 2 portions and ended up with 4! Most of which ended up in the bin. If the person behind the counter actually listened to your order and spent less time chatting with everyone that came in he might get the orders correct.

Highly recommend this place! The food is freshly made, the quality of the fish and how it is cooked are great! Very good portions too. Visited Archie's restaurant last Saturday and had an excellent time. The food was amazing and hot. Large portions of fish with homemade chips. Alex and Natasha who own the restaurant are fantastic hosts. An amazing couple who you can have a laugh with and give excellent service. Great atmosphere in the restaurant. Would recommend to go there and try out their menu which you have the choice of eating in or takeaway. Highly recommended.

Me & my wife have been to this restaurant on many, many, occasions and the food and the staff never let you down. Excellent quality, great portion sizes, spotlessly clean. The staff are brilliant, always friendly, nothing too much trouble...you can take your own wine , no corkage...what more could you ever want in life....you would have to travel to the end of the earth to find anything close. You should all be proud of yourselves!

Last year when I came gave this place a bad review.as when got it back to the caravan it was awful.but this time have had a change of heart.they have really improved the fish was amazing and huge I would defently recommend the plaice it was amazing.and this time I eat in the restaurant don't know if that made a difference or not.im so pleased I went back and everyone I know said they have never seen plaice that size before.great work guys you defently deserve the 5 now.but would say your probably better of eating in the restaurant.

Stopped near Minster for 3 nights for work and after the hotel restaurant chain let me down with shocking services he might before I took a walk into this little village to have a look around.

Me and my family have been coming here for years! Great portions, fresh fish and friendly staff. Due to not having a liquor license we eat in and bring a pint or two over from The Hair of the Dog micropub opposite (they have a standing arrangement).

Just stopped off her by chance as I fancied a battered sausage and chips for my lunch .

My husband and me eat in this restaurant regularly, almost every week for more than ten years. I must say this is the best fish and chips in Thanet. The fish is always delicious, tender, fragrant and cooked in fresh oil. We’ll be keep our tradition and visiting again for sure! Thank you!

My family and I are repeat customers who come back to savour the tasty fish (our preferences are haddock and plaice). The portions are filling and we get lovely service from the polite staff. Very enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommended.

What's not to like. Great fish and chip eat in restaurant or take away. Bring in your drinks from bar across the road and Minster taxis close by. If Carlsberg did the start to an evening this would be it. Highly recommended.

We were visiting our friends and going out for diner. Amazing fresh cod and chips and sir lion steak were cooked to order. Archie's really is one of the best fish and chip shops in Kent.

We were there with friends and it was very friendly, clean and it offered very good choice of food. Do not assume it is just fish and chips. The variety of food was very satisfactory to all my friends. The choice of fish is also very interesting, not just the usual cod. This place is far beyond the ordinary. The owners are lovely! Give it a try and I am sure you will go back like we do. Very comforting for parties as well.

Everytime I come to Minster to visit friends I always drop in for fish and chips. But after my last visit never again! With a fryer who has attitude( "A chip on his shoulder" ) and doesn't apologise if there's a problem with the food. Is better off sticking his head in the bin!. He couldn't care. Luck warm CHIPS! With a stodgy bit of quick fried cod. WAS MORE INTERESTED IN HIS PHONE! Shouldn't be in this job if you don't want to know how to prepare food and how to communicate with customers.

we had visited this restaurant 2 years ago and well pleased with the service,however on this recent visit we found things had changed not for the best,a group of four and ons infant,given two tables put together,and ordered our fish meals,with the pots of tea,another bigger group came in and took up the tables having sat down began to question the pricing of the meals to eat in,and the take away prices which ranged to four pounds each in difference,needless to say they ordered they take away and left.Our food arrived looking good,the fish hot but the chips warm to cold,this was brought to the attention of the waiter who took the meals back,our meals returned with hot chips on the top and under them lay the now luke warm chips, not a clever move by the fryer,we didn't get any apology from the fryer but the waiter did say sorry,as for the bill just short of fifty pounds minus one pence,no tip was given,and no chance of ever coming back.

This was our first visit, but, will not be the last. We ate in the restuarant, although there is take away if you want. We chose the small Cod, but it was very big and thick hardly fitting on the plate, (glad I didn't choose the large) it came to the table fresh and perfectly cooked,At the time we visited, it was at a quiet time Saturday lunchtime, but soon started to get busy, they not only serve fish, but variety of meals from all day breakfast to burgers. Living in the village, we don't have much choice locally for take away. Fortunately, the pubs in the village really do us proud. As far as the local "chippie" is concerned for take away, a real let down. Pie and chips for 2 people ( 2 pies and a large chips) cost £7 which is acceptable. Got home after a 3 minute walk and the large chips were over cooked, soggy, warm at best and a bit tight on the portion. Pies were cold in the middle( NOT warm!! COLD)!!)Just not very good and from the lack lustre service it would appear that the sparkle has gone from this former gem and some competition would probably put this business under threat.

A very popular fish and chip restaurant and shop. An extensive menu of traditional fare with portions to die for. The establishment is in 2 parts - the Fish and Chip part serving the local and wider community which often is busy - especially around early evening on Fridays and t6he restaurant which can also be busy so it is best to book your table if you want to be sure of one being free when you arrive. Open from around 1130 each day.

We were visiting my husband's Aunt and usually we take her out for lunch but decided to get fish and chips instead and we were certainly not disappointed. Clean restaurant and very friendly staff. The best bit was the fact that the fish was cooked to order and it wasn't frozen fish! My Aunt and I had cod and it was gorgeous and my husband had scampi which he said was also very good. Portion sizes are very generous and excellent value for money. It's just a shame my husband and I live so far away!

Excellent take away food and restaurant too. Took my elderly parents on Sat 6 Nov for Fish & Chip supper and decided to eat in. Very friendly attentive staff. When visiting my parents in the village of Minster ,a great treat for us all is a fish supper on a Friday night.I must add I have never eaten in , we always have a take away. However the surroundings are beautiful more like a little Bistro restaurant than a chippy. Great pictures of the villages past on the walls. Archies gives us our Fish and Chip fix (We live in Greece), lovely food very generous portions, for example my partner Jane is able too share a medium sized portion of their Cod with my Father as its so large, and Jane complains that the medium is still to much for her to eat.As for their Large portion of Cod its "Mega Big" in comparison with other establishments. On one occasion they had run out of Large Cod and gave me two mediums for the same price. That was a massive meal. I struggled and felt very guilty afterwards.A large chips is enough for three adults as there is so much , while a medium is more than enough for two. Also they are one of the few southern chippys in my experience that serve "Something moist" (Peter Kay observation on southern chippys), curry sauce , mushy pies , beans and gravy all available.Such a great place , with friendly staff to match .

If you want a Friday night treat then Archie's is definitely the place to go! We love their chips and curry sauce and the pies...well they're just pukka ;)

Never sat in Archies to eat but it's always busy and the food is delicious as a take away so I'm sure it's equally as nice to sit in their relaxed and friendly dinning area. Really nice fish and the batter is good, not too greasy. Generous portions and at a good price. Always friendly and greeted with a smiling face! So grateful to have a good Chip shop in the village for those nights when you just need to put your feet up after a long day, with a decent hot meal you've not had to cook. Love Archies!
