Stayed Wed Sept 4 th 2024 for one night would never recommend this place our shower was full of mould so we didn’t use it, the toilet broke after 3 flushes the carpet in the room had stains all over it and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. The breakfast is a very little continental and I mean little. Would advise to look elsewhere

Yet another great stay at our favourite hotel in Ullapool . Really friendly and welcoming young blonde girl on the reception/bar . Got checked in early and had a couple of drinks in the bar . Bed very comfy and room overall spotless . Even tho our room had a rear view it was still pleasant out the window and quiet , so had a good nights sleep. It’s still a pity but miss the place having no restaurant such a shame .! But hey staff shortages can’t be helped . We look forward to our next visit ? Don’t know when tho , as it’s pretty much full for the rest of the year .

Spent one night here, as part of our 3 week trip at Round the NC500 The positives are Very comfortable bed Hugh soft bath towels Lovely views from the hotel Brilliant evening music from R U Mac The negatives are Very small bathroom Thin walls, we could hear the tv from next door, as well as the man coughing and ‘clearing his throat’ for about 15 minutes - yuk The room smelt of feet The continental breakfast - breakfast served between 8-9. We arrived at 8.20 and there was literally nothing left. 1 croissant, some fruit salad (tinned not fresh) some packet cereals and a bit of cheese and salami. We were offered toast, and when it arrived, we had 3 pieces between us (1 and a half slices) other tables had at least 6 slices per couple. When we left we walked round to the Bothy Coffee Shop for a proper Scottish breakfast. The price - we paid £125 for the privilege.

Lovely clean & bright bedroom with beautiful views out onto the Sea. With the softest ever bed linen . Friendly girl in the bar . There is no food in this accommodation unless a continental breakfast. I would advise to book ahead to a local restaurant for dinner as it’s an exceptionally busy wee village on the NC500 route . We had difficulty getting something to eat ended up getting a takeaway in the local chip shop. You can get a cooked breakfast down the street in a local cafe from 7.30.

Was going to stay before travelling south to Dumfries for a training course, which was cancelled due to a poor weather forecast. I only got notification at around 17:30 but The Arch took my money because a few hours had passed beyond their booking ‘deadline’ (after I’d tried to do them a favour by booking direct). I’d encourage fellow islanders and visitors to Lewis to give this place a miss - given the regular occurrence of weather cancellations and travel, your money is at risk here due to their inflexible, unsympathetic greed. I would have potentially become a regular here but I’ll wild camp or sleep in the van before I’ll book here again.

Stayed 2 nights, Friday/Saturday ready to catch ferry to Stornoway on Sunday. Room very comfortable and clean, continental breakfast excellent, a fair choice. Kelly very helpful. When I booked they were still doing evening meals, but when I arrived they had stopped doing them, but Kelly, again very helpful, and told me where I could get one nearby. The only draw back was the noise on the Saturday night, please be aware if you want peace and quiet.

Booked to stay for two nights having been there several times in the past and always was first choice for Ullapool. Knew that they were no longer serving food but disappointed with minimal choice of 'continental' breakfast. While the rooms are still of a good standard the bar seems to have become very much 'locals only' with perfunctory service offered to guests.

The most expensive of our seven stays on the NC500 and the only one that did not offer a FULL BREAKFAST but a continental breakfast. Do not get confused with the continental breakfast you might get in Europe when on holiday, this consisted of processed ham and cheese, not dissimilar to that you might by in a packet from a supermarket. Orange juice was not fresh. On the plus side, the tea was hot. Our room overlooked the unkept smoking area with ashtrays not emptied for days and rubbish left all over the area. For the price. It felt like we were a captive audience with little regard for our pleasure or enjoyment. Sadly in western Scotland, alternatives are extremely limited.

We had a lovely meal. The helpings were generous. The staff and atmosphere were good. Two of the party had mussels which they really enjoyed. I had steak and surf, with two of the largest prawns I have seen for a very long time. The steak was perfectly cooked. Desserts were a dream. Good toilet facilities. It would have been five stars except there is no telephone booking. We had a 45 minute wait, enough time to go to a different establishment for a drink as the bar there was full. This was outside of the main tourist season

We sort of wound up here after several other options were fully booked- on a rainy October weekday. (Table were available only early in the eve.) But turned out to have a fine meal, moderately priced, with quick service. Nice vibe etc. The gluten free fish and chips especially was amazingly good. But the moral of the story- you need to book ahead in out-of-the-way seeming Ullapool.

Although the food we had was of the usual high standard - despite it being a very limited menu, the inability to book a table… even at 6.30 when we were sitting in the bar having a drink… was not conducive to a relaxing evening. We had to sit keeping one eye on the door to see how many potential diners were coming in. Very offputting and difficult to see what the logic is for this…😵💫

Second night we shared Langostines which were good. The Fish pie was pretty average as was my husbands Chicken burger. We shared the Carrot and coconut cake with orange sorbet and walnut brittle. The restaurant area is separate form the main bar which is nice there is a warm relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant and we where lucky enough to have a nice view of the harbour from our table. The food was very good I wouldn't go as far as to say excellent. I would recommend the Cullen Skink as a starter as it is delicious. I opted for the chicken thigh burger for my main course this was Okay but a little greasy as it was battered and deep fried. The Langoustines needed some flavour with them as they where quiet bland which was a little disappointing.

We ate in the Arch Restaurant last night although we managed to get into the bar (unreserved seating) earlier in the week. Currently all indoor and outdoor areas except the bar require booking. We enjoyed a range of food - the black pudding Scotch egg was possibly the favourite food of the week! The atmosphere was friendly and staff were very engaging. One small thing that could be improved - on entering nobody acknowledges you for a while as they’re busy at the bar or serving, possibly with several members of staff walking past before someone engages. Even an acknowledgment of ‘we’ll be with you in a moment’ would go a long way.

Just ate here as we were staying elsewhere. Comfortable, spacious dining room with some screening off of tables. Harbour side, but small windows at one end only, so no real views. Spaced-out tables don’t particularly help create a good atmosphere. Didn’t really get to see the bar area, maybe this would have been a bit more vibrant? Helpful, pleasant staff. Cod in a smoked shellfish broth was good, as was the haddock and chips. Best Cranachan we had in 2 weeks in Scotland!

We stopped off here for lunch whilst travelling the NC500 route through Ullapool. We sat on the covered terrace so we could enjoy the nice weather out the way of the wind on the front. The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough to help, always around if you needed to catch their attention to get another drink/the bill/etc. Gutted to find out there was no lobster, so me and my partner settled on the cod loin instead, the portion wasn’t massive but was very tasty. For dessert, I had the cheese board, good selection of cheeses with a nice chutney and a few apple slices, my partner had the cheesecake which was okay.

Lovely restaurant set right on the shore. Food was delicious, the restaurant had a good atmosphere and I enjoyed the choice of craft ales. Service was first class and a special mention for Anna who helped us out with an issue with our tickets for the ferry, even though this had nothing to do with the restaurant.

Four of us had a great night. Middle of the road prices. Varied menu. Lovely salmon dish but side salad was a rip off at £3.50 for a few bits of lettuce.....nothing else, just lettuce. 30p worth from Morrison’s.

Whilst staying the night in Ullapool I booked the Arch restaurant for dinner, outside dining was all that was available but it was fine they have a raised decking area in the court yard with picnic tables and overhead heaters. The menu is varied and interesting, I had Cullen Skink which was absolutely delicious and the prices were very reasonable. The service was quick and efficient and I would definitely recommend it.

Good meal & good service - all the staff we came across seemed to be a credit to them. Need to book well ahead at present as we had booked two weeks ahead but could still only get an outside table.

We booked this restaurant having being attracted by the seafood on the menu. However, when we arrived we were informed that there was no seafood available- no langoustines , mussels, oysters, lobster or cod. Very disappointing, had we known this in advance we would have gone elsewhere. As we knew other restaurants in Ullapool would have been fully booked, we felt we could not walk out on this occasion. Cullen skink and smoked salmon for starters were good but we have had much better fish and chips and fish pie. The fish pie contained only two types or fish and was fairly basic. Having booked over a month ago we were also disappointed to be seated right in the entrance. People coming and going and standing over us while waiting to be shown to their tables did not result in a relaxing evening. The food was served quickly and while we appreciate that the restaurant was busy we had difficulty getting extra drinks. While we appreciate that these are difficult times for the hospitality business we were disappointed with our experience and would try somewhere else if visiting again.

As regular visitors to Ullapool I can emphatically state that along with the Ceilidh Place the Arch Inn is one of the best places to eat in the village. Imaginative food over the usual pub fare at a reasonable price and the staff are really friendly and helpful. It did not disappoint on our most recent visit. Its a shame that due to to Brexit they are presently finding it difficult to staff the restaurant every night, so booking is essential. It is though still a good place to go for a drink on these nights.

View, atmosphere, staff, superb! But then on the other hand the cooking is not the best, I have never eaten such dry veggie sausages in my life. We still enjoyed the moment

We hadden na een lange reis niet meer de puf uitgebreid op zoek te gaan naar een restaurant dus we gingen naar de pub bij het station. Het eten was niet spectaculair maar voldeed.
