I was really disappointed. This was meant to be a special meal for my wife's birthday and it ended up not being. I emailed in advance to ask for some bubbles to be brought to our table when we arrived and this was not done. The waiter we had was very rude and not welcoming at all, we struggled to get a waiter to take our order and then when i went to the bathroom saw that they were all watching something on one of their phones. We waited 25 minutes for our desert to arrive which was ridiculous for a set menu and ended up just getting the bill. The food was ok but for the price I expected it to be a lot better it was relatively basic although the sushi was good. Overall I was really disappointed.

Exquisite food. The chef was just as lovely as the environment was. Would definitely come back. Chef Abdoul is a talented artist.

Came to Aqua Kyoto some time ago and wanted to leave this review. I went here with my cousin and brother, we ordered from the set menu. Food was amazing. An absolute experience with the flavours and how the food was presented. With each meal that arrived to the table, our server would take time to explain what the dish was and how it was made. It was a great fine dining experience. The service was impeccable and the vibes and decoration/atmosphere of the restaurant were really nice. Would highly recommend.

Overpriced foods are street standard. Wagyu has only fatty part and over claimed on firework experience

Disappointing New Year’s Experience I booked a New Year’s Eve dinner at this restaurant after they promised we’d have a clear view of the fireworks from their terrace. Unfortunately, this couldn’t have been further from the truth. The location wasn’t even visible or close to the fireworks, and we didn’t see anything at all. To make matters worse, the price was completely unjustified. We paid an overpriced amount for what turned out to be an underwhelming experience. If you’re considering this place for special occasions, I’d advise against it. False promises and poor value for money—definitely not what you’d expect for a night as special as New Year’s Eve.

Everything about Aqua Kyoto’s New Year’s Eve was perfect—amazing dishes, great music, and a lively atmosphere.

Great atmosphere and good service. However, a bit disappointing as at the time of booking I was assured that lamb and beef is also halal which I found not to be the case when I was ordering. The Sashimi was excellent but the black cod was just ok. Aubergine was also excellent! Can’t fault the service!

The venue looked beautiful but the service did not correlate with the look and feel of the venue or price of food or the expectation and experience, as the girls at reception did not greet me I greeted them on my arrival they did not take our coats I had to walk back and forth to find out if there were a cloak room, they were not helpful polite or graceful in look or appearance, the food servers were not helpful when asked questions and clearing finished plates from our table took along time even getting the bill to pay was extremely long. The music was an octave loud so it was impossible to hear the serves explain the food choices and understand what we wanted with out shouting. It seemed more like a rave then fine dining as I would not recommend for intimate setting with friends, family or loved ones.

We booked here on the 16th December at 19.30 for a birthday dinner but was very disappointed not with the food but the service is extremely bad for such a high end restaurant, Staff on reception are very welcoming as expected and were very helpful, Used the terrace for a drink as we always like to enjoy the whole evening not just the restaurant and was intentionally over 45 minutes early to have a drink before the table reservation, this was a Monday night and plenty of staff with a very quiet restaurant unfortunately took over 20 minutes to even get served for a drink and then not once was we asked if everything was good or if we required more drinks then had to go find some to serve us by this time it was now our table reservation time. We felt the waitress we had was very uninterested in serving wasn't very helpful or informative you could even see everytime she served another table she would she very little then stand with her hands behind her back as if you was wasting her time. We always like to order little at a time and keep ordering all evening so we can pick and enjoy as much as possible but at one point we ordered more sushi and the waitress rolled her eyes as if she didn't like it then just walked off, at which I want to ask what the hell is her problem but my partner asked me not to so I left it. Luckily we also got served by a very good oriental waiter which was extremely helpful and pleasant as expected and I think it was also the manage which served us as well at one pointhe was also very good. A while later the the waitress just walked up and bluntly said with a total attitude "I know you what to order a bit at a time but the kitchen closes at 10pm" she was very rude and extremely unfriendly. This was disgusting service from the waitress has definitely brought down the experience. Overall I am finding the discretionary service charge should be fully removed as a lot of customers will just not embarras themselves asking for it to be removed and as like myself will just not return to the restaurant. With the bar and restaurant we paid approximately £660 if which approx £86 was service in the restaurant and over £220 in the bar l, the waitress definitely didn't earn a tip and most staff just expect it, the 15% service charge is just way to high and should be a lot less.

Top-notch services and exceptional Japanese Coisine.

Ended up here on a Company Christmas Party. Easy to find, first class venue located next to Oxford Circus tube. Thoroughly enjoyed the quirky venue and free nibles on offer. The Venue is quite large and cosy, with multiple rooms offering different themes. There is also an accessible roof terrace adjacent to the bar with an excellent view overlooking the city. Would definitely recommend the venue for big partys. Music progressively got louder as expected, but had a great time.

At 1830 on the dot the staff crank the music up explaining that "that's the vibe we have at the weekend", i.e. go somewhere else if you want to talk. Frankly none of the six occupied tables in the bar were groups or of ages that wanted the volume cranked up and soon after half the tables left. The best cocktail bars across the globe don't have music at that volume at 630pm on a Saturday night. The other point that was a little frustrating is that bar staff were not watching their tables. You know how long it takes for someone to each a dish or drink a drink and at these prices customers shouldn't have to wave for several minutes or indeed get up to get service. Just look at your tables every few minutes and anticipate what your customers want rather than them having to chase you. The bar has a great concept and some good cocktails (I wouldn't recommend the mai tai, it's a cognac glass full of ice and that's about it but off-menu margarita was good) but I would suggest they need to rethink who is the priority as clearly it's not the customer. The man who took our order forgot an item which is fine and happens but a classier establishment would have done something to correct it rather than just saying "Sorry." It's a good place to go but it's not world class and it could be and indeed should be at £18 a cocktail.

We booked a table for 3pm in the main restaurant, when we arrived we was slightly delayed due to it being the weekend before christmas and travel times - arriving within the grace period - we was told the kitchen had closed and we could not have our original planned meal in the restaurant, we was told we could only have bar snacks. We also had a gift voucher and when it came to paying the bill - we had a voucher in which we was told again, this could only be used in the restaurant. The staff generally were quite rude especially the ones at the front of house - i didn’t expect the kitchen to close 15 minutes after our general booking, how was we ever going to order our drinks and pick our dinner in this allotted time anyway? The overall experience was really disappointing and we definitely won’t be returning. The food we did have was nice - but by no means worth £120 for bar snacks and 2 drinks !! Be careful when you’re booking your dinner & don’t be late, they’ll shame you for it !!

I wish I could give a higher rating but for the price point the service was appalling. Particular dislike for the female head waitress (or some sort of leadership position since she had a different outfit from the other waiters) who was very cold, asks hows the food is and almost immediately walks away before we could even answer, several times, always looks like she's rolling her eyes when we do nothing to warrant it. It was irritating to receive such service when you're paying a 100 a person, ridiculous and have never seen this. food came out slow and in random order (eg edamame starter came in the middle of the mains) even though the place was pretty empty. many staff standing around speaking/gossiping loudly. just felt like such a pretentious, gimmicky, place for wannabes/tourists. the only person who was up to par was the ground floor reception guy who was polite and friendly. Food was very average and as a Japanese I was shocked at the price point for the quality.

An extremely luxurious experience where the staff are exceptionally professional and the food is exquisite.

Overall a happy experience with my family of 4, with 2 kids. Just the first waiter who serves us didn't bring the set dinner menu that should be available on Sunday night. We asked him for tap water but he brought us a bottle of still water. It seems that he was trying to get as much money out of the customers' pocket as possible. From ordering to finishing, we tried to avoid this specific waiter. The other waiters are nice and friendly. Food can't be said top-notch but I think it is acceptable given the central location and atmosphere.

Excellent lunch meal deal at Aqua, great food and value for money

Aqua Kyoto is next-level cool. From the minute you walk in, it feels like a party, but still super classy. The staff were so welcoming and made us feel at home straight away. We couldn’t stop talking about the sushi—it was unreal! The black cod and wagyu beef were absolute game-changers. If you’re into sleek vibes, amazing food, and top-notch service, this place will blow your mind.

This place knows how to do it right. Aqua Kyoto is the perfect spot for a fun night out with amazing food and even better vibes. The music, the crowd, the cool interior—it’s got such a young, trendy energy. The sushi was perfection, and the wagyu beef literally melted in my mouth. The staff were super friendly, making the whole night feel easy and fun. It’s a bit pricey, but trust me, it’s worth it for the experience!

The atmosphere and the DJ was amazing! Unfortunately I can’t say the same thing about the bar staff. One man in particular at the bar shame I couldn’t get his name, when I told him I didn’t want to pay service charge as he served my friend very rudely. He made my drink with no effort what so ever and to say I had to pay £16 for a cup of MILK! And when I wanted to pay I took the card machine of him to put my pin in and he just rolled his eyes. If you don’t like your job leave!!!

EDIT: After the restaurant is shamefully trying to accuse me of not having a reservation I will share details below. Friday 13th at 9:15pm.. It’s under my husbands first name, same surname. And you will get a review from him too. After paying almost £200 for a party of 2, and apologies for 3 different waiters, it was a disaster of a night! ORIGINAL REVIEW: Food missing after 45min wait, finished our food while still waiting for our drinks despite asking several times. Service absolutely appalling and high prices for average food. No wonder half the tables were empty ON A FRIDAY NIGHT and the restaurant is paying for promoted google adds.

We love Kyoto! My wife and I spent a beautiful evening in London’s West End soaking up the Christmas crowds topped off with an amazing dining experience at Aqua Kyoto. We are returning customers and the guys at Kyoto never fail to impress. My only comment would be to ignore the dress code on the web site. It seems every style of dress is welcome including trainers and jeans!

I really liked the experience but was desperate for some vegetables 😅 we sampled a few dishes and every one was very nice. The staff were amazing and very friendly. It felt kinda expensive for nibbles but I still really enjoyed the night. We ate at the tapas, not the Japanese .

Style over substance. Food is about presentation, not about taste. Way overpriced. Not authentic Japanese. They manage to get sushi wrong. Music is pumping loud, it is difficult to converse. Lighting is pleasantly dark. Not recommended to anyone who values food over presentation.

There’s something about Aqua Kyoto that makes you want to dress better, speak softer, and adopt a vaguely cosmopolitan indifference to the time. Perched stylishly above Regent Street, it’s the kind of place where the lighting flatters everyone, and the DJ’s playlist feels like it’s been curated for your own personal film montage. I went with two friends, both excellent company and equally committed to stretching a “bottomless” brunch to its logical limits—we were still there at 5. The sushi, offered on endless rotation, was as fresh and immaculately presented as the room itself, arriving with clockwork precision but none of the fuss. The steak, perfectly seasoned, made for a satisfying main, though I prefer my steak piping hot, not just warm. The vibe is undeniably cool without tipping into pretension. Service was efficient, but thankfully not hovering—this is the kind of place where they know when to refill your prosecco glass without asking. The only mild note of greed on my part: sashimi would have been a welcome addition to the sushi lineup, but I suppose one must leave something for next time. We stayed on well past 2pm and sank cocktails until the evening. All in all, Aqua Kyoto delivers a brunch that feels as much about the atmosphere as the food—and it’s hard to argue with a venue that makes Sunday feel this glamorous.

Nice place, portions are not very big but tastes very good, especially the dessert!

A friend booked for 4 of us for his birthday. Tempted by the Kyoto nights deal he had an exchange of emails and booked for tonight, 30 November. Despite this not being a Thursday he checked that the deal was still available and had an email confirmation stating that it was all ok. We turned up and were offered a la carte menus. When my friend pointed out the error the manager was summoned but we were basically told there was nothing that could be done. It was a la carte at least double the price or nothing. No compromise offered , no discount, no free drinks no gesture of goodwill. We decided to leave. To add insult to injury my friend had a £100 “no show” charge added to his credit card about 30 minutes later. This will obviously be challenged. So in summary they made a mess of the booking, offered no resolution and charged us a ton for the privilege. Not impressed. Food could be amazing but unlikely to return or recommend.

I really, really want to give this a higher rating. The food here is absolutely delicious and some of the best Japanese food I’ve had in London. Fresh fish, inventive recipes, and reasonable prices given the area. However…. The service here is completely abysmal. We sat at 7:45, met our waiter, got our waters and then didn’t see home again for 45 mins. We then found the floor manager who took over as our server, the average wait for a drink was 20 mins. Food arrived as it was prepared which was nice. But then, it was next to impossible to find our waiter. The manager just stepped in for the rest of the experience. Constant waits for food, dessert menu, and the occasional drink. After begging for the dessert menu, our original waiter arrived 2 hours after initially greeting us and was very aloof. Our 7:45 sitting finally concluded at 11:30 which left us with zero time to do anything else that evening. If they could figure out the service portion they’d really have something here. As i said food is great and incentive, it’s just done such a disservice by the service.

after being served starter we waited nearly 80 mins after constantly being reassured our mains were on there way. Guests were seated and even served before us! The restaurant was due to close and became empty, desks were starting to get cleaned and the mood of a saturday night was non-existent. I asked for the manager who lacked empathy or even seemed bothered and his excuse was “It was busy”. No apology, Nothing! Me and my Partner ended up eating elsewhere with prompt service. I won’t be returning.

Fin restaurang med exklusiva drinkar. Vi serverades väldigt god mat, enda nackdelen var Wagyu köttet fortfarande va kallt när det serverades, serverades på en het sten så det löste sig, men kötet bordet vara helt upptinat innan servering, Sushi va väldigt bra.

Came to celebrate birthday booked ahead for early dinner. Ordered a mixture of sushi sashimi and robata dishes. Love the scallop meatball skewer. Duck was very hard to chew. Matcha tiramisu was very nice. Overall nice food but expensive.

recently visited Aqua Kyoto for lunch with my boyfriend, and unfortunately, it was a bit of a letdown. We started with the rock shrimp, which was good—well-seasoned when hot and a nice portion size, pairing well with the dip (7/10). However, the rest of the dishes were underwhelming. The tuna and spicy tobiko maki lacked any real kick and tasted quite average (5.5/10), while the soft-shell crab tempura maki was too heavy on rice and had no distinctive flavor (4/10). The salmon harumaki sushi was an interesting spring roll-style twist, but it also lacked flavor depth (6/10). We finished with the matcha tiramisu, which unfortunately had an overpowering alcohol flavor that didn’t balance well with the matcha, resulting in a stodgy texture (3/10). The staff was friendly and attentive, but the restaurant seemed understaffed with only three servers, making the service feel stretched. We booked with First Table for a 50% discount, which softened the blow; however, I would have been disappointed had we paid full price.

This is a good restaurant for Japanese food in central London. It is not a great Japanese restaurant. This is not a criticism, but a comment on expectations. Food is good. The tea was a disappointment - tea bag in a pot, and very weak tea at that. Expect at least a decent matcha or sencha. The dessert we had was nice but I thought somewhat gimmicky by both English and Japanese standards. The atmosphere is good. Not traditional Japanese- but modern stylish. We came on a rainy autumnal day and did not get to enjoy the outdoor area which looks great and probably quite the treat on a warm summer day. The service is good central London modern. This is a good restaurant for a friends' weekend, a celebratory meal or for slightly more casual business entertainment. It is not a traditional Japanese restaurant for Japanese haute cuisine. And I do not think it sets out to be one. As such, I think it does well as a modern London restaurant for a decent Japanese meal in a stylish venue that is comfortable and not stuffy nor pretentious nor particularly Japanese.

The food was amazing. But in the end they charged a service fee. Than you expect to be treated well!! We wanted to have another drink and they said we should drink it at the bar. We could not sit at our table anymore. So the service was not worth £50!!!!!

Amazing!!! I made reservations for the Kyoto nights menu. One of the best experiences we had in London and a great deal. The food was plentiful and phenomenal and the service was over the top.

I celebrated my birthday with dinner last night, and overall, the restaurant was excellent. The food was absolutely gorgeous and made for a delightful experience. However, I noticed that the waitress seemed unfamiliar with the food menu and wine list. While she did her best to assist us, a bit more knowledge would have enhanced our experience even further. Nonetheless, we truly enjoyed our dinner! We would like to highlight the excellent support we've received from Matteo, the General Manager. His strong communication skills have significantly enhanced our collaboration and contributed to our success. Thank you so much, we’ll be back.

booked via first table the interior of the restaurant is so beautiful ! and it was quiet during the 2 hours we were there (6-8pm) on a tuesday i would come just for the dessert if you could ! the mains were good but i feel as though you could find similar things nearby for cheaper, however the desserts were so unique and all were delicious :) our server was very lovely and very attentive - even arranging a birthday dessert because she saw my friends had brought flowers.

Elegimos Aqua Kyoto última hora para la cena. Al entrar me recordó a Hakkasan ya que tenía un ambiente de club oscuro con música. En cuanto a la comida disfrutamos de la tempura de camarones de roca, tataki de atún sin embargo las cutlet de cordero fueron la estrella! Las brochetas de carne wagyu estaban bien. Los postres eran muy agradables. Las bebidas eran un poco pegadas y falladas. Pedimos una variedad y aproximadamente la mitad eran buenos como el Shichimi Marigurita & Meron cha, los demás sabían un poco débil o no dio en el blanco. (Grande en Japón, Kyoto punchi & Costa del sol) El precio llegó a alrededor de £ 360 para 3 que es caro, pero alrededor del precio de la zona para una experiencia elevada. El servicio era servicial y amable! ¡Regresaría por el cordero! 😋
