Cocoro Kaiseki in City of London, Westminster

I went there alone on a Wednesday night and it was amazing. The Tonkotsu Ramen was delicious, and the Yuzu & Honey Tea as well. I never got the name of the waitress, but she was very polite and helped me with suggestions to choose the dishes. I'd definitely come back there next time I travel to London. Very good experience.

Wanted to eat out day before Christmas eve. Place was pretty empty, but the waitress gave us a warm welcome and was very pleasant and kind the entire evening. I highly recommend the pork gyoza! I eat the beef udon which was very good. Their sake was also very tasty. Overall I think it was a pleasant experience, but a little expensive. It's not a 5 star resturant by any means but it certainly is a hidden gem amongst the many restaurants of London.

On a cold, rainy night of solo travel, Cocoro hit the spot. It’s tiny, cosy, yet stylish and clean. I ate like a pig and loved it. The ramen is great: firm noodles, generous portion of char-siu, and hearty broth. The nigiri was melt-in-your mouth delicate. Highly recommend as an alternative to the mobbed Soho ramen houses.

Excellent food and very friendly staff. We came by this restaurant at random on our last night in London and it was the best food we had all week, in a very nice and comfortable place. We had both sushi rolls and salmon teriyaki, and the miso was fantastic. Highly recommended.

Randomly picked this place to have dinner on the way home. Quiet calm atmosphere, which we needed after a busy day. Polite and friendly staff. Really tasty food. We had gyoza, chicken skewers, ramen, fried pork and dessert. Everything was delicious.

The 5 star is to the best miso soup ever and to one of the best sushi & alikes ever. A simple space in its decoration and atrezzo, do not be mistaken: we enjoyed really wonderful food, and the quality of the fish was excellent, literally melting in your mouth. Desserts were no less delicious and beautifully prepared. Service was so gentle and professional. Overall a wonderful experience, thank you!!

Cocoro is a Japanese chain restaurant. This location is not the best. The one in Holborn actually has a more extensive menu, as well. Service was “good” at best. Classic Japanese dishes in a casual environment. No frills.

Our last day in London. This small restaurant was in our top 3 all time favorites. The best sashimi/nigiri we've ever had. Why? The chu toro will literally melt in your mouth. The soft shell crab kara-age had a savory crunch with a juicy crab. The sea weed salad had multiple variations of fresh seaweed with a hint of lemon flavor. The ume kyu had a refreshing pickled plum dip. The hot sake came out in a double walled pot that kept the temperature hot. The desert was a white chocolate matcha tart that had a subtly sweet strong matcha flavor. The sushi chef and waitress were the most caring we just had such a wonderful experience there. We've had Japanese michelin star restaurants and this could easily be one. Thank you! 30%

Booked this place for lunch with my boyfriend. It was not too busy, food came out quickly. We had complimentary miso soup, and ordered takoyaki, the salmon combo, a tonkotsu ramen, miso ramen, matcha crepe cake and orange juice. All the food was so delicious! There was one waitress serving food but service was still amazing and she was so nice! Will definitely have to come back here :)

Un petit resto vraiment charmant, l'accueil est chaleureux et les plats sont absolument délicieux (le tonkotsu ramen était fantastique).

Le seul mot qui me vient pour décrire notre dîner au Coroco c'est : "Dommage". On commence par une note positive, les plats sont variés et bons et l'endroit est plutôt cosy (malgré l'accueil très froid de la serveuse). Malheureusement, le service est totalement manqué. On commande du bœuf sauce teryaki saignant, il arrive archi cuit à tel point qu'on ne reconnaît pas que c'est du bœuf. On commande une bouteille de vin blanc français (puisque nous sommes français), la serveuse arrive, ne nous présente pas la bouteille, l'ouvre à la main (c'est un bouchon à vis) et nous sert 2 grands verres sans même nous faire goûter. Nous sentons l'arnaque et vérifions l'étiquette : on nous a servi un vin médiocre d'Afrique du Sud. En revanche, on nous a bien fait payer le vin français en prenant soin de quitter la pièce au moment de l'addition histoire d'éviter la remarque. Bref, nous sommes en vacances en amoureux, nous décidons de ne pas nous battre. C'est juste dommage de partir sur une impression d'avoir été pris pour des touristes.

Friendly staff and amazing food

I went to Cocoro with my girlfriend today before her wisdom tooth surgery. The experience was nice. A decent restaurant overall. Cozy and there aren't too many tables. Service was good and the food was superb. I personally wasn't a fan of sushi but my girlfriend really liked it. Their dessert was nice as well. Don't miss them out.

had a really good evening here! the place is quite small and felt cozy, not so crowded for a Saturday night. not sure of the sushi quality we just ordered ramen and salmon tuna bowl, but it was surprisingly good, so would visit again and try some more dishes. dessert was also good, staff was really friendly and helpful too.

Ordered via deliveroo. The food itself was good. Presentation wasn't good considering the price. We ordered different things and they came somewhat squished together in one box. Also considering the price I would expect higher end packaging and more environmentally friendly packaging. The food came in very cheap and standard plastic packaging. Wouldn't order via deliveroo again. For the price you want an in-restauarant dining experience incl the service. As mentioned before though, the food itself was good.

Great food and especially for the price. Shame they are always empty. Very friendly staff. Great for families with kids. Or for quiet dinner. Sashimi and ramen is top. Perhaps not as stable quality as nearby Sumi but also much easier to get a table and half the price tag.

[Update] The menu changed, and became super high end. The prices more than doubled. We don't go there anymore but the food should still excellent. TLDR; don’t miss this wonderful restaurant! I am a regular of Cocoro Bayswater as I live just in front of the restaurant. I have now tried a significant amount of items on the menu. I am always left with a happiness feeling once I leave because of the food being so tasty, fresh and original. Everything is good basically. I have tried many Japanese places both in the UK and France and I can say that this one is a hidden gem, considering the quality to price ratio. The place in itself feels cosy with its few tables and subtle Japanese decoration. The service is always amazing, so polite and nice. They would remember you and make suggestions based on what you tried before.

Came here with a group of friends. The young waitress was the only one serving customers that day and she was incredibly busy. The 3 hours we were there, there was a constant flood of delivery drivers collecting food for delivery. The service that evening was very slow but it was understandable as she was extremely busy! the poor young lady didnt even have time to stop and take a breath! I felt a bit bad as the waitress kept apologising for the slow service but I know this wasnt exactly her fault as they were short staffed. She even had to deal with 2 very fussy and unreasonable customers at the end which even I thought must've been painful. Food was nice, the unagi donburi was really nice but there are some small/thin bones in the unagi so if you dont like your bones, I wiuld try avoiding it. The sashimi was not the best as it was cut in the wrong direction or something as they were a bit tough. But portion sizes were decent and the sashimi was thick pieces. I ordered the purple sweet potatoe tart and it wasnt to my taste.

One of the best sushi in the area. Tasty and fresh. We sat there once and were treated with beautiful service. On delivery they were quite slow but compensated us with a personal letter, a free soup and dessert. Highly recommend.

Ordered combo A, portion is enough for one person. Large selection of Sake, but I really hope they don't use the fake wasabi and, can you please let the customer to choose if sauce can reduce a bit? The volcano set have too much sauce which I can't taste anything else on the sushi.

Amazing food and customer service

Cozy, good service but not impressed with food to give it more than 3 stars. I would stick to clean sushi here and then it’s worth it. Spicy crunchy yellowtail roll was absolutely smothered with spicy Mayo sauce and soft shell crab was poor quality and deeply overly fried. Spinach salad was a soup, dripping in sesame dressing. Yellowtail sashimi was the way to go with a green side salad. Clean and simple.

Dear Cocoro, We have been ordering Sushi for 15 years in Notting Hill/Bayswater. Last three times with you which we very much enjoyed. Food quality is great. Last time our deliveroo order was 15’ late and we found the below note which made our night! Thank you.

We didn't consider the 9/12 tasting menu, nor did we see it available, but we did eat and drink a variety of items from the menu and they were very nice and reasonably priced. The aesthetic of the tiny hole-in-the-wall restaurant oozes that authentic Japanese feel through friendly staff to the layout and design. We plan to cross London to visit again.

A small kaiseki restaurant in a side street in Bayswater, Cocoro transports you to Japan thanks to its traditional decoration with wood panels and typical Japanese furniture. You can’t find a lovelier service, very attentive and smiling. The toro nigiri was exceptional and they serve yakisoba which is not so common in London. I’ll certainly come back or try their other branch to taste the rest of the menu.

All the dishes which I had were delicious. The service was wonderful and the restaurant has very pleasant calm atmosphere. I would give 5 stars but the aubergine was partly left too hard even if I particularly asked to have it very very soft when making the order.

A great Japanese restaurant in London. Excellent food quality, fair prices, and the staff are very polite and friendly. It feels like a local neighborhood place where you see the same faces, they remember you, and you'll get warm and respectful service. For example, if the order takes long, they offer snacks or tea. Little things make a big difference!

Amazing sushi and everything I ordered was of top notch quality and absolutely delicious at reasonable prices. I love the simple but nice decor and the service is absolutely great. Keep in mind that the restaurant has four tables, but I bet they do it to maintain the great quality provided. In addition, there is a small sale of Japanese hand-made ceramic rice bowls, small dishes etc. What is there not to love? Must absolutely visit once in London.

Came here on a whim via 'restaurants near me' on google and me and my friend will 100% be coming back. Staff were incredibly friendly and lovely, food was amazing tasted so fresh and the restaurant itself was very cosy and charming. We can't wait to return will all our friends when we next come to London! Also the music choice of piano versions of bts' songs were 100/10 will defiantly be back and thank you for an amazing meal! :)

Excellent quality at very good prices for West London. Had been going to Eat Tokyo Notting Hill for years but now regularly prefer Cocoro for both food and service.

Cocoro has developed a good reputation years ago, and I have tried their branch in Marylebone before. This Bayswater branch used to focus on Kaiseki cooking, but now also doing every-day food. As our first visit to the Bayswater branch, we had a light supper. One main each, some gyoza, and edamame. The food tastes absolutely spot on. And the service is also very good - friendly, polite, heartwarming. Definitely recommend and would go again frequently.

High quality and excellent service at a very good price point. The soft shell crab was a particular highlight. Was quiet on the night we were there but don’t let that put you off. It is low key but food is of a very high standard.

Found this restaurant on Deliveroo named “Sushi in the Notting Hill.” Their sushi is at good quality and flavour. Their Tori Karaage is very delicious. Great flavour and juicy chicken. Gyozas are also fresh and tasty.

It’s hard to find a Kaiseki restaurant in London and this is definitely the best I’ve ever been. The food are all carefully prepared and the service couldn’t be better. I particularly enjoyed the private dining atmosphere since we prefer a quieter environment.

My favorite Japanese Kaiseki experience in London. Small but cozy environment. While eating the whole set meal, you can totally feel Head Chef Tano San’s passion and great skills. Impressed that they are changing their menu monthly, it means you can try seasonal ingredients combined with chef his creativity every month. Seasoning tastes simple at beginning but the aftertaste is deep. And Grade A5 Japanese Wagyu Sir loin is delicious as usual, also their sushi is fresh, surprisingly, they do good dessert!!! If you want to experience Japanese style private dining, Cocoro Kaiseki will be a good choice. Just kindly remind you, it going to be a long dinner, (I took nearly 3hrs to enjoy the whole set dinner) please prepare an empty schedule to enjoy the meal.

This restaurants kaiseki, Japanese dish course, is more than the price. To express the nature of each season, they choose plate and each seasonal dishes. You can experience many kind of seasonal fishes, meats and vegetables which is quite fresh from market. Service of staff are excellent and very kind. You can feel zen's atmosphere here. For special time and special people, I believe all guest will have happy priceless experience here. Thank you very much.

We have been here before and thre food was as lovely as always but the service was a bit off- ie we ordered sushi and then Rahmen but we got hw rahmen first and when we asked why they said th chef made it first!!! Very strange- everyone knows you get sushi first then hot food!!!

Came here and tried their set menu for dinner on a Wednesday night. It was a small, intimate setting and we had the place to ourselves. Reservations are a must as they prepare the ingredients and dishes in advance. It was a bit pricey for what we received but worth the experience. Sushi was exceptionally fresh.

Ordered one of the set menu. Great food and fantastic presentation. It brings back my memories of having kaiseki in Japan. I was lucky to get the small private space, the Koshitsu.

Very disappointed after reading several good recommendations to find out the food is very average for the price (£100 per person). It is prepared in a delicate way but the food quality is not as good. Octopus and clam are very chewy and rubbery which I find difficult to swallow. The Beef sukiyaki is too fatty for my taste. Also disappointed to find out the wasabi is not real wasabi, but some cheap mustard. Will not recommend.

I came here planning to have dinner based on the tripadvisor rating. I was met by a very polite man in traditional Japanese dress who informed me that the restaurant only serves a set menu of nine dishes at 100 GBP per person and that it's best to book ahead so that they can prepare. He was extremely polite and helpful, showing me the menu and giving me their card even though it was clear I was not going to dine there. It appears to be a very special place and I would come for a special occasion.

Fantastic food and service! All the dishes are so well presented and make you feel like as if you are in Japan! The food quality is fabulous!! Once you try this restaurant, you would feel like you want to go back again! Just Fabulous!!

Went with my friends for birthday, very nice and fresh food. Every dish was well presented looks so lovely, and it could see the chef's highly skill and knowledge about foods. Also their service was very good, professional and welcoming. Definitely will go again!

It was certainly an eye-opening experience. The dishes are very well prepared and almost artistically presented, to dine is to admire. Also Tona san and Ricky have been very informative and enthusiastic about the cuisine and Japanese culture. It's an unforgettable experience and I would recommend it to anyone with a passion for fine dining.

You can get almost private Japanese dining experience. I have noticed some garlic smell from next neighbours..... but otherwise, it is a great atmosphere.

5 star experience from the food to the staff. This little place might not look like much, but the minimalist decor just highlights the real star of the show: the food. Incredibly fresh and carefully put together, it was one of the best I've had. Not cheap but 100% worth it. I will be back.

Small, intimate Japanese restaurant specialising in Kaiseki cuisine from Kyoto. That's the marketing angle anyway - all I know is that in a two and a bit hour blur of exquisite Japanese food prepared with infinite care and delicacy I had the best meal of the year. Lovely staff, it's just the chef, his wife and a waitress who welcome you, feed you, then send you off home.
