Acabo de estar en Aqua Brasserie de nuevo en Whiteladies Road, Bristol. Era una cena de celebración de cumpleaños para mi esposa y teníamos a nuestra hija y dos nietas con nosotros. Excelente atención por parte del ultra profesional Manager Carlos y un servicio sonriente y eficiente de las dos encantadoras camareras. La comida era genial - que va desde mi delicioso pastel de pescado tailandés y adornos al minuto filete con salsa de pimienta, pescado y patatas fritas, risotto perfecto y una hamburguesa galardonada. No me extraña que siga yendo allí.

Gerente extremadamente grosero sin experiencia y camarero robótico cuyo ego era lo único más grande que él. Reservamos una mesa en un restaurante cercano para una fiesta de Navidad con mis clientes, pero fuimos a Aqua para algunos cócteles primero. Entramos e inicialmente nos sentamos junto al bar y nos quedamos esperando hasta que nos asignaron una pequeña cabina. Nos sentamos y empezamos a leer el menú. Un camarero de aspecto enojado se acercó y se paró a la mesa. Inmediatamente se inclinó y levantó un teléfono de la mesa y salió corriendo muy extrañamente. Luego regresó con el gerente y nos pidió que nos fuéramos... resultó que alguien en nuestra fiesta había levantado accidentalmente un teléfono I del bar que supuestamente era uno de los empleados del bar, completamente por accidente, pensando que era de su esposa. No podía creer que estuviéramos avergonzados y sorprendidos. Los teléfonos con pantallas bloqueadas se veían muy similares y este error puede ocurrir fácilmente. Como le expliqué tranquilamente que era un error obvio (¿por qué alguien robaría un teléfono I que es inútil para nadie más que el propietario, luego inmediatamente lo dejó en la mesa justo en frente para que todos lo vieran) el gerente se dio cuenta de su error al pedirnos que nos fuéramos y comenzó a retroceder. Era demasiado tarde, pedirnos groseramente que nos fuéramos saltando a una suposición masiva y llamarnos ladrones era inaceptable para mí, así que nos fuimos. El camarero actuaba como si hubiera retumbado el gran robo del tren y era como un niño de 5 años de edad parado junto al gerente. Le expliqué que no gastaría dinero allí después de que me llamaran ladrón. Falta completa de habilidades de gestión, comprensión, sentido común y modales. Fuimos a un lugar maravilloso justo al final de la carretera llamada Buenasado, donde el personal era encantador y profesional. Ve allí en su lugar y ahórrate una experiencia sub par. No me sorprendió ver varias críticas aquí hoy que declaran que el gerente fue grosero. Absolutamente asqueroso. Realmente espero que lea esto porque todo mi partido se sintió ofendido y fue una situación muy desafortunada que espero que nadie tenga que pasar de nuevo.

La caña de cordero estaba un poco demasiado cocinado, pero en general la comida era genial. El problema que tuvimos fue el cargo discrecional oculto, debería haber revisado nuestra factura antes de pagar. Cuando hablé con el gerente después de eso, se rió y dijo bien que lo menciona en los menús, y cuando lo comprobé, sí estaba allí en letra muy pequeña. Así que solo una advertencia, compruebe antes de pagar.

Poppy y Gemma eran camareras increíbles. Su servicio fue maravilloso y las dos eran chicas muy amables, dispuestas a ayudar con todas nuestras necesidades. Nos sentimos muy bien atendidos y volveremos de nuevo.

Gran servicio y buena comida, elegimos este lugar al azar la primera noche de una estancia de dos noches y no nos decepcionaron. El personal nos atendió bien sin estar demasiado atento. La comida estaba bien presentada y lo más importante bien preparada y muy sabrosa. Mi esposa eligió el filete de minutos y no se decepcionó. Disfrutamos de la experiencia tanto que volvimos en la segunda noche también! Gracias a todos en la Aqua Brasserie por dos noches de buena comida y fabulosos cócteles!

Decidimos comer fuera en el lunes festivo y queríamos algún lugar fuera. Decidimos ir con el menú establecido que era de dos corsés por £ 17. 50 o tres por 20 libras. 50 . El servicio fue de primera clase en la comida bien presentada y deliciosa. Tuve el calamar para empezar y un minuto de filete para el principal. Mi esposa decidió tener pollo para su principal y eclairs para dulce. Mi comida era muy agradable y el pollo de mi esposa era masivo (medio pollo) con bebidas la cuenta era de £ 57. Nada mejor que sentarse al sol con una deliciosa comida. Primera clase.

We’ve been customers for over 15 years on and off. More off than on since the unnecessary refit tbh but with good reason. The food was generally good with the exception of the “Scallops” which wasn’t actually “ Scallops” but rather one overcooked (murdered was the word used) scallop cut into 3 pieces….murdering a scallop is bad enough but cutting it into 3 and selling it as “scallops” is pretty appalling and hang off the reason I’ve bothered to write this review. The other problem demonstrates the same “underhand” approach (clearly a management strategy), in that the Duck breast main course was 2/3 of a duck breast accompanied by two mouthfuls of dauphinois. In truth it delicious duck (although the skin was not remotely crisply …which it obviously should be) but I’d let them off that …the big problem was that it was supposed to be a main course and it was a tapas or starter portion. We complained about the portion size (having bitten our lip on the scallop) and were told “that’s our standard portion. Other less important niggles were that the music was so loud we couldn’t hear each other, the Corbieres was searched for for 10mins but found to be not in stock and there were only two waiting staff on a Saturday night, so it was all a bit slow (3 hours for 3 courses). This restaurant was always 100% reliable with decent food at reasonable prices. When it reopened after the refit it was comically bad but we gave it an excellent review again last Oct. Seems like they’re losing their way again and trying to hit their “reasonable value” price points by offering minuscule portions. Guys it won’t wash. We’re not stupid. If you don’t book up your ideas I fear you won’t be around in 6 months time and that would be a shame given such a deservedly successful history.

Enjoyed a good lunch here. It was busy, but service was excellent. Food was good. Not standout, but good. Well priced neighbourhood bistro vibe. Excellent interior fitout. Outside tables avaliable in warmer weather for people watching.

Pre-booked a table prior to a theatre trip. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Immediately shown to our table and very soon our drinks order was taken followed by our meal order. All very efficient and the food was first class.

Absolutely superb evening. Without question, it was the best meal we have had out in a long time. I can honestly say it was ten times better than the Ivy on every level.

Four of us went to Aqua to celebrate my mum’s birthday last night. Couldn’t really fault it. There were just 2 waiting staff and one bar staff but they seemed to have it all handled really well and under control. They were attentive without being over attentive, yet managed to check every now and again to see that we had all we needed. The food was really well presented and tasty. We had arancini and squid for starters - both hot and really good. Then our fish and steaks were good and had nice hot fries too. Desserts good choice and yummy. Happy customers!

I cannot fault the food? Our server was an absolute delight which made the experience lovely. What upset us was seeing her run off her feet and who I assume was management, sat around relaxing in between throwing out orders. I cannot condone seeing staff being treated badly. Sadly, I won’t be visiting again. You can’t create a nice restaurant experience if you don’t create a decent working environment for your staff!

Visited for early dinner before concert having found on social media beforehand. Arrived to witness small child sat on table (shoes on) that you see as you walk in, not a great first impression. Sat on mezzanine level and advised that they did not have any of the beef left for Sunday lunch option (disappointing). Ordering wine, no New Zealand Sauvignon blanc (disappointing). Ordering second option for meal, no fillet steak left (decided that we no longer wished to dine). The waiter was very gracious and apologised making us feel comfortable enough to finish drinks we have already been served. Upon paying, the manager/owner approached and asked if everything was ok as we had left without eating. I mentioned the issues above but I positively added that our server was lovely. Unfortunately, he became quite defensive when my partner added that the marketing bottles of champagne visible from the mezzanine were covered in dust (which they were). Would have left nonplused and not returned if he hadn’t approached but the confrontation warranted a review as I wouldn’t want others to feel so uncomfortable. If you don’t want feedback, don’t ask.

Generally very pleased with the quality of food at this restaurant in past visits but I was a little disappointed with the Fish & Chips this time to be honest. The batter on the fish was 75% soggy and not crispy. The fish was served on chunky chips which also could have been a bit crispier. Overall the dish did not wow me, I have passed on my comments about this dish being served on paper and then on the plate. Totally unnecessary especially as the food made the paper soggy as well and was getting in the way of eating the food. My two companions however, enjoyed their meals very much. Desserts were great as usual as were the coffees and tea. We were served by a young lady called Elisha who was very attentive to our drinks and had great customer rapport. A very nice presentable young lady.

Mother’s Day and a special breakfast promised. Apart from lovely staff it really wasn’t worth nearly £60 for a shared starter-dry pancakes with blueberries and a spoonful of maple syrup, two small eggy based ”mains”, 2 coffees and 2 Proseccos-er not Proseccos, creamants d Alsace. Only found out they were not Proseccos when the bill arrived. Everyone tries very hard on the staff front but the food really is not up to it. When we asked about why no fruit we were told “no call for it”! Their choice on what to serve of course but it does seem to fly in the face of “healthy eating”.

Thanks Natalia for warm serving us throughout the lunch. Leave us sufficient time on understanding the menu. Not treating us as monster when we asked for hot water (to drink). The sincere smile comforting us a very nice dinning atmosphere. The food is good. We ordered three oysters. A sea brass as main. A fillet - medium rare. And a seafood linguine. Brownie as dessert. Only regret is mum had not ordered tea. 🙈. I have had my espresso which is as enlightening as it stated. Very aromatic. Overall, we are happy with the lunch. And would like to send our special thanks to Natalia. ❤️❤️❤️🧡🧡🧡

We have been long term customers. We went soon after the reopening of the Grand Cafe and were unimpressed. Tonight we returned. Terrific! Delicious mains (tender venison fillet, tasty bass), decent desserts, excellent service (thanks Branco) and very good value. Aqua is back and so are we!

Wanted somewhere special for a birthday and thrilled with our experience. Welcoming and friendly entrance, our waiter Jeremy was perfect. Attentive but not intrusive. He made the evening feel really personal and special. The food was delicious; cooked perfectly and served with flair, accompanied by fab cocktails! It really was the perfect evening and everything we'd hoped for. The team, ambience, attention to detail (and obviously food quality!) were absolutely spot on. Highly recommend

Exceptional. We came here 3 years ago for a wedding anniversary, this time with our two children and we were blown away. Ben the owner was amazing, made us feel very welcome immediately. The service is lovely, attentive but without feeling over the top. Topping our glasses up when necessary, friendly, knowledgeable. The food is incredible. Would recommend the brisket croquettes, and the pork belly bbq bites! The quality of the food is amazing all round, and finally a restaurant that does decent children’s food. The presentation of the kids pastas and the quality of the pizzas - brilliant. The wife had the ribeye steak which was great quality and value. I’d say this was very very good value and our new favourite not a bad word to say! Also what a lovely a lovely venue. Definitely coming back thank you!

Jeremy was amazing, very friendly and attentive! We ordered the scallops to start aswell as the pork belly and both were incredible! As to say the steaks were very good also! Jeremy was very attentive but also very spacious with us, he made us laugh alot and genuinely cared about our time at Aqua!

Average to say the least which is a shame as great location and building. Overpriced mediocre offerings…

My first visit to this restaurant so wasn’t sure what to expect. On arrival my first impressions were good, very nicely laid out with plenty of space between tables. We were met at the door and shown straight to our table. Drinks were ordered and served very quickly, it was a pleasant surprise to see that the draught lager is brewed by a local brewery and very good too. I chose French onion soup to start, it was delicious and a perfect portion for a starter. Main course I opted for Calves Liver, a favourite of mine, again it did not disappoint being probably the nicest I have eaten. We ordered a selection of vegetable side dishes, all were cooked to perfection. Desert, Chocolate brownies were incredible, very rich but so nice. Overall I loved this place, service was impeccable, I really could not fault it. I shall definitely be visiting whenever I return to Bristol.

Cocktail and mains for two out of the three of us were a little disappointing (rib-eye steak and calves liver). Sea bass was great. Service very good.

Quotes from the staff at this evening’s debacle: “our food is pre-made, we don’t serve that at weekends”; “the chicken is marinated in gluten”; “we don’t have olives at the bar” (for a martini on the cocktail menu…) Need I say more. My third choice of main (I need to avoid wheat) was a very thin, gristly and fatty lamb shank with a very sweet sauce. It wasn’t pleasant. The moment we questioned the quality of the food we were abandoned and our request to speak to the manager was ignored. He hid until we left but received a few choice words when we did. This is a “ food outlet” on its way out and Bristol deserves better. Don’t waste your money.

Could not fault the food or service. The chef in particular went above and beyond to accommodate my nut allergy and took the time to explain the slightly changed menu. By far the best afternoon tea I’ve ever eaten. All the staff were first class! However be aware that if you are attracted to the 2:1 cocktail deal on the website this is not being honoured. What a shame the admin side lets down a fabulous venue!

Great atmosphere. Good service. We went on Sunday evening and we’re disappointed but not surprised that they had sold out of Mussels. We chose the calves liver etc but found it a bit lacking in flavour and chewy .My son’s Rib-eye was good. However the scallops and French Onion SoupI we had beforehand were excellent. We don’t know why it has been reinvented as AGC as we thought it was excellent previously. However,we will continue to be periodic visitors as it is so friendly .

We were big fans of the previous incarnation (Aqua) It was such a comfortable place to be lovely. Decor very comfortable seats and the menu was full of crowdpleasing options at reasonable prices and we were regulars. So when they changed the name and the interior decor we were surprised and a little bit concerned because it seemed so unnecessary. When we were greeted at the door by a guy in a top hat and tails with white gloves, we thought they’d lost the plot (!!) and we were even more concerned! When the food turned out to be terrible and expensive, we weren’t surprised but we were hugely disappointed. We mourned Aqua and vowed never to return. Several months later, and after hearing some good reports, we were persuaded by some friends to give it another go last night. Delighted to say it was fantastic again! All four of us thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was good and the wine list has some for everyone. It was so good it was like it used to be. We’ve got our beloved Aqua back!! Thoroughly recommend!!

We had a lovely celebratory lunch here today for my mum’s 84th birthday. My elderly parents were treated with respect by the staff, who were friendly and helpful - Mum was given a complimentary glass of champagne. We had the two course set meal: sea bass and chips, delicious! We took home our éclairs to finish later. We’ll be back for Dad’s birthday in May!

They’re clever at Aqua. Each time I’ve been to their restaurant in Whiteladies Road I’ve loved the consistently good food and the ‘VIP’ service which, disappointingly for me, everyone seems to get; but now I’m impressed with how they maintain their high standards yet have the flexibility to adapt according to popular demand. Back in January this year, as an already well established and popular rendezvous, the venue underwent a tasteful refurbishment with a new identity as a smart French Brasserie offering an ‘haute cuisine’ menu. This was and still is very much welcomed by loyal and appreciative gastronomes but to the delight of many regular customers the management has now re-introduced some of the previous, less exotic, top choices. For example on a hot day a couple of weeks ago a friend and I wanted a quick lunch and managed to book a table under a large parasol on the sun-trap terrace; still in keeping with the French influence I chose Moules Mariniere as a starter; a generous portion of fresh, piping hot, plump mussels covering a divine ‘soup’ of white wine, cream, chopped onion, butter and herbs for just £9.00; for £8.50 my companion had pork belly bites in a sticky barbecue sauce; having pinched a couple of hers to try, when I come again I’m going to have a double portion. There’s a wide range of pizzas, salads, burgers and steaks and a terrific value set lunch at £17.50 which includes mains options of grilled seabass and the ever popular half rotisserie chicken marinated in lemon and herbs with fries. So depending on your mood or the time you have to spare you can have the best of both worlds – you can dine ‘haute cuisine’ or enjoy every day classics - clever – and all bloody delicious (‘scuse my French).

Delightful meal with family the servers were awesome and the meal was lovely particularly loved the mushroom pot starter.

What an utter disappointment. Not a patch on its previous Aqua incarnation, and frankly a bit of a tarnish on the brand. Smart uniforms and a new decor does not a great dining experience make. Whilst the food was pretty ok (faint praise) but not anything to write home about particularly, the menu didn’t really seem to know what it wanted to be; French inspired classics (moules) or a good old fashioned roast carvery. Absolute nothing on the dessert menu inspired us (not quite grown-up enough - would have been good to see a creme brûlée for instance). The latte was really good but my husband and brother-in-law both thought their espressos were nastily bitter and only luke warm. Service was not particularly good and then, to add injury to insult, the waiter tried to add an additional 10.15% tip on to of the 12.5% already included! If the food & service had warranted it, we probably wouldn’t have minded the additional £11 so much, but it didn’t. Instead, we felt like we were being scammed. One thing’s for sure - we shan’t ever be going back.

The refurb into a French version of Aqua is nicely done. The service is excellent and the staff in this respect are a credit to the restaurant. It is the food that is going to close this restaurant. The prices have been raised since rebranding; much more expensive than Coté, and sadly yes, they are a larger chain, but their food is streets ahead and cheaper. Starters at the Grand were lovely, but when it came to mains, the Cod was very over cooked (it was free on a 2 for 1 mains deal otherwise we would have refused to pay for it). The other main - Lamb: meat was not rendered as it should be and the mash was very lump, these are basic skills. We will not be returning at the moment when we can get better elsewhere locally.

2nd visit this time my wife’s 50th birthday. Food really good, well presented. Service was awesome can not praise the staff here highly enough. The best evening in a restaurant I’ve had for over 19 years cannot recommend highly enough. Waitress was great with our 12 year old highly personable and could not do enough for us. You have to go.

A good lunch at Aqua, generally attentive well presented staff. Aqua's haddock risotto has always been a favourite but this time it was undercooked, staff were happy to remedy this. Interesting to note that reviews (both good and bad) are not responded to, this suggests management are not really interested in customers' experiences. The "old" Aqua always delivered but sadly since the rebrand this place just misses the mark. This has been the case on our last couple of visits.

Excellent visit today , food wonderful , staff amazing , very attentive . Some good banter with the waiter . House rose wine very good , risotto delicious as was rest of the food . Will definitely return . Maybe brunch tomorrow . Can highly recommend . Thank you guys 😀

What a fantastic restaurant! Service was better than top London restaurants I have visited. We visited to celebrate our son’s graduation and he was offered a free glass of champagne as they noticed his robes. Most of us had the fixed price menu which was incredible value and the food was plentiful and superb. I have nothing bad to say about our experience and would thoroughly recommend. Well done Aqua Grand Cafe.
