A group of 10 stayed for one night and had dinner. The staff were extremely friendly and the standard of food was excellent. Lovely clean rooms with beautiful views. We even topped the night off with the Northern Lights appearing.

We managed to get a last minute table for dinner as a group of four along with a dog. The pub was packed but the staff took time to explain the menu and there is a wide range of ales, wines and spirits. The food is delicious, we had lobster and steak which were fresh and tasty, followed by various whiskies. An amazing pub with great staff

The food in the Applecross Inn is outstanding. We were completing part of the NC500 and stopped in to celebrate a birthday. The staff were excellent, they are a dog friendly restaurant which allowed our lab to come with us. We had a mixture of both fresh fish and a chicken curry, all of which were superb. When it came time for the sweet selection, the staff brought out my partners sweet with a large sparkling candle in it and sang happy birthday, a nice touch by the staff. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough.

After a lovely drive the lunch was a great disapointment. The food was very ordinary and the place rather tired. I could not think of any reason to recommend this place. I was expecting a decent meal but all we got was ordinary old-fashioned pub food. Don't bother.

After the perilous drive over the Bealach Na Ba to get to the famous Applecross Inn, I was disappointed. It was not what I was expecting. It was very tired and quite grubby inside. Basic content, overpriced and under impressed. There was no "love" in the presentation or the ingredients. Nothing I had that I couldn't do better myself at home. Of course there is really nowhere else once you get there. Captive audience and a tired performance spring to mind. However the setting was lovely and the staff friendly and welcoming. My three langoustines I had for my starter were around £4.50 each!! With the handful of bought packet salad leaves and couple of bits of tomato the starter was £15.00!!! Not much garlic in the garlic butter made the whole thing bland. I had it in my head I would be of having a zingy dressing on crispy salad leaves and salty hot butter laden with garlic to make the sweet langoustines sing! Not to be be.....

Superb meal. Booked online on the day. Definitely recommend booking as it's in a very remote location - but very much worth the trip. Very good menu choice, lots of seafood. We had the haggis, langoustines, crab & mango to start and the hand dived king scallops for main course. Too full for puddings but took sticky toffee pudding and chocolate cake away with us and the ice creams are lovely and very creamy. Prices reflect the good quality of the food but not overpriced, like a lot of places in Scotland! Would definitely recommend and would like to return on a sunnier day as the scenery to get there is beautiful. Staff are very friendly and accommodating.

A good place to stay & eat if you’re touring the North Coast 500 or just visiting the Applecross Peninsula. We stayed for 2 nights. The room overlooked the sea was basic but comfortable. There was no TV in the room and the Internet was patchy so take a good book to read. However lots to do in Applecross, some great walks right from the Inn’s front door. The Inn is a good place to eat. Breakfast’s are varied and substantial, certainly set you up for the day. You can get a packed lunch if you are going to be out for the day. Really enjoyed our Dinners. Great menu, lots of seafood and the Inn has a really good atmosphere…good place to eat.

Food. We had langoustines, dressed crab and salmon. All amazing, fresh and delicious.Service. It was very lacklustre. They need to figure it out. Reviews have gone on about service for a while. They would lift their reputation if they could get their act together and coordinate. Interestingly, when we checked in for our lunch reservation, the lady asked me if I was Eileen. I'm clearly a man with a grey beard, so, no. She then asked me again. If not idiotic, it highlights the lack of service in play at this location. Beautiful setting, but they don't "own" their business and serve their customers as well as they could.

I had been looking forward to eating here ever since we started planning our trip, so had booked well in advance. However the whole experience was disappointing and the worst service we received our whole trip. It was a hot evening so very busy, and were told it might be a wait as they were a bit overwhelmed. We didn't mind as had an amazing view so ordered some drinks. That's where it went downhill, we sat and waited for another hour and realised they had forgotten about us, in that time we only had one drink. Other tables had eaten their starters and finished their mains. When we mentioned to the waitress that we hadn't actually ordered yet, she rudely checked the time on her phone before getting the menus. We ordered and received our starters one at a time and not together but to be fair they were amazing. The waiter then took our plates and our cutlery too. Our mains arrived after a wait, but we had no cutlery. Everything was served in such a rush he was away before we could say anything so had to go find someone who offered no apology, only "oh I must be too efficient". The food was lovely but soured by our experience and nearly 2 hours after we had originally arrived, by which time the sun had gone down and we were eaten alive by midges - obviously not their fault but if we had been served with everyone else who arrived at the same time then we would've enjoyed it in the sun. We quickly paid the bill and left as by that point just wanted to leave.

The Applecross Inn is located in an idyllic seafront location and boasts a superb seafood restaurant that makes the most of Scotland’s fresh produce. It is very popular (and must be booked), but its friendly and efficient staff kept us well fed and watered with a simple but top-notch dinner offering and excellent wine in a relaxed but busy gastro-pub.The accommodation fails to match the promise of the food and is both pricier and lower quality than you will find elsewhere in the Highlands, perhaps reflecting the lack of alternatives during the peak season. The absence of soap and shower gel in the room was particularly regrettable. The WiFi broadband service is excellent but there are no in-room TVs, so take your iPad or PC if you are not wanting to switch off completely. An excellent breakfast offers kippers or smoked haddock as an alternative to a classic full Scottish. But don’t expect to be able to lie in, since checkout is by 10:00 am.

We travelled to Applecross from Fort William for the day and booked a table at the Applecross Inn for an early evening meal. Applecross itself is beautiful, and well worth the journey. The scenery as we drove was spectacular! The Inn is in a lovely location and has amazing views. Sadly we couldn't appreciate them during the meal as we were inside, and everything was blocked by the people sitting at the window in front of us and standing outside. Our waitress was lovely and very friendly. She showed us to our table, and the booth we were seated in was spacious enough, but the table was sticky (from the sanitiser apparently) and the seat covers kept falling off, which got a bit irritating. We'd picked Applecross Inn because of the great reviews and we really wanted some decent seafood, but they'd sold out of a lot of it by the time we sat down. We opted for haddock and chips. It was nice enough, but nothing special. Our daughter had a mini burger but it was overcooked and dry, and as I always get irritated by the way kids' meals are served without much thought, it pretty much decided my overall opinion of the meal.We won't be returning, but maybe they were just having an off day. I liked how unpretentious it was but after all the hype I just really wanted something a bit more special.

The food was lovely and quite affordable, the rooms are quite pricy but then no other place can offer the breathtaking views. My wife and I have stayed here several times, and always been well looked after. We decided to take another short break there and booked two nights, accepting that we would be subject to whatever Covid restrictions were in force a the time. We had an excellent time there, and will be back again. The Inn has adapted itself well to Covid restrictions. When we were there residents only could be served food, but no alcohol, inside. The tables were well spaced out and we were not worried about being too close to other guests. A full bar service was available outside, which we took full advantage of.One evening we asked about freshly caught fish, and were told that a few fresh caught lobsters had been delivered that afternoon. We ordered two of them - and they were absolutely delicious. As always there, we ate far too much and ended up outside again having liquors with our coffee al fresco. If you are going to do this, after an evening meal and particularly at this time of year - wrap up warmly. We also discovered, although we did not use this service ourselves, that the Inn is quite happy to serve drinks to residents in their rooms. The Inn has adapted really well to the current situation, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. My advice though would be to book as soon as you can. That is what we will be doing again in the not too distant future.

Not based on food or drinks. Called by for coffee and snack from takeaway van based outside Applecross Inn. The rule was that had to pay by card but card machine not working when I was there and so big delay with person in front. So we gave up as it was pouring down and no shelter. Cars everywhere so the view from inn is quite poor and the outside area smelled of chips! Even the scenery on the Applecross route, although good, is not as amazing as other places on the NC500. And tbh Glenelg is, in our opinion, a much nicer, similar place!

We booked a table indoors in advance, as advised and as is sensible during Covid times. Staff were friendly and we felt they took Covid measures seriously. Food was good - nothing amazing, but good, reasonably priced pub grub including haddock and chips with home-made mushy peas, monkfish and chips with salad and my daughter had a child's portion of chicken nuggets and chips, which was a really good size for a child with a good appetite. Puddings were great - sticky toffee pudding was really good (yum!), seasonal crumble was tasty and the jaffa cake pudding was refreshing and different. I’d been checking the website daily during September to make sure I definitely had a table booked for when I was in Applecross. I’d heard from friends and family that it was a must to visit and they were absolutely right. I had the fish and chips with mushy peas and then the chocolate fudge cake. They were delicious. The service was great from each attendant who spoke to me, all seemed genuinely happy to be there and were so friendly. Their gin selection was overwhelming so one of the ladies had to help me out, with a local gin which made it all the better. I will absolutely be back.

We had a brilliant lunch here while on holiday. First off, definitely do the drive over the mountain pass to get to Applecross, it was one of the highlights of our whole trip (and we saw a stag on the way back down!). The Inn itself is right on the waterfront with great views across the sea to Raasay. We had the scallops and smoked salmon to start and both were fresh and beautifully cooked. My wife had the half lobster as a main, which she enjoyed tremendously, while I had the fish pie. It was probably the tastiest fish pie I've ever had, with a thick, crispy cheesy topping. Only complaint would be that it was only served with peas - would have been nice to have some other veg. We then asked to move to one of the outside tables for dessert as the weather was (mostly) good - we had the sticky toffee pudding and the cranachan. Both were superb, and topped off with local beers (try the red ale) and a local gin. An excellent meal, with friendly service throughout. Couldn't ask for more!

You need to book the Applecross Inn on the most of normal of days as it's reputation is already known far and wide. We booked lunch the day before we journeyed on this stretch of the NC500 and came in via the coastal road. Table was ready for us, one way system for toilets, team in masks and friendly. Hand sanitiser and track and trace. Out table faced the bar so we got all the banter and the phone was ringing off the hook. Food - fetured in the Michelin Guide and we can see why. Covid measures seemed to be in place and mostly taken seriously, although some people were confused by the one way system for queuing, waiting for orders, and collecting - staff weren't really enforcing it but as we were all outside and there weren't too many people, it seemed okay - not sure how well a really busy time would work. A few days later we got fish and chips from the SDM and sat on the grass at the edge of the beach, perfect. Despite everyone in the world wanting to eat here, we managed to get a prime-time booking for dinner. Booking is via their website and we would recommend planning ahead and checking back often if you cannot get your preferred time as people may have cancelled; this is how we got our booking. We got a table inside which was very cosy and cute, and the pub felt friendly and welcoming. The food was great - I had the battered monkfish and my husband had the duck, both of which were amazing! I've been here a few times and enjoyed my visits. But, now we're all working around CV-19 and all that this entails, I have to say, the food is still great, service is fine even behind face coverings and on a fine warm day such as when we were there, a nice place to site outside to eat. Tables etc are all cleaned down before you are taken to your table and all food is on recyclable disposable containers. I'm not sure it is fully necessary to use disposable stuff - surely suitable cleaning would allow use of normal cutlery/crockery?? Waste bins could be emptied a bit more frequently, but apart form that a nice visit.

The room could do with a coat of paint and a freshen up. Breakfast was very nice, served with a smile - nothing was too much trouble. No issue with parking. Beautiful setting.

Friendly staff and nice fish and chips but customer service is very rule bound which slightly spoilt the experience. We went after lunch to find all the tables were empty but marked as reserved. We were found a table in a far flung corner to have a drink which was nice but then got fish and chips from the van as they were no longer serving food and sat at a chair outside the roped off area next to the van (we presumed they were for the van as were outside the main outdoor seating) but were told we had to vacate it and go and sit on a rock despite the fact that all the tables were empty. The lady was friendly to her credit and seemed embarrassed to do this) However so much for customer service! This was just a rule nothing to do with Covid-19 restrictions which I would not have questionioned.

We had booked a long time in advance and the amount of COVID related correspondence almost put us off but we needn’t have worried. We sat at an outside table but the weather was beautiful. The menu is fairly limited but enough of a range. The prawns were actually langoustines which we had wanted so we were pleasantly surprised. The meals were served in cardboard boxes - Covid - but were prompt and the waiting staff were pleasant and chatty. All good but the repeated Covid correspondence and emails regarding the reservation (almost rule-like and did leave us wondering if we were welcome and our custom wanted) means a very good rather than excellent rating.

As fellow hospitality peeps we could totally feel the strain that Judy and her team are under right now. But that didn’t detract from the experience, service to those who understood the guidelines was impeccable, food, as usual, was amazing - dressed crab in particular. I can well imagine that going from a small community in lockdown to being busier than the M25 at Heathrow is overwhelming. Book ahead if you want a table. Follow the guidelines, and be nice....

Managed to get a table at this place during a very busy period. They’re taking lots of precautions to keep people safe due the Covid 19 requirements. The food was ok. The fish and chips could have been so much better (hence why only three stars). The batter was very greasy and the chips were pretty much frozen chips and tasteless. Clean and tidy environment and the staff were very friendly.

The perfect place to stop for a superb seafood pub lunch in the sunshine (lucky for us!) after descending Bealach Na Ba on our first NC500 day. We went for the haddock and monkfish - both were incredible. Possibly best haddock we’ve had ever, and not just on this trip (where everywhere serves haddock!). Lovely dry rosé and local beers to wash it down.If weather is nice definitely try for a seat outside. These areas are covered so if it is a bit drizzly still worth being outside. Booking essential to get a table, but if you miss out you can get some of the main menu options from the food truck. One course lunch for two people with a couple drinks each came to around £40 - worth it. Also all staff were assiduously following safety procedures during pandemic. The service was excellent - some of the beat we experienced on the whole toute. Waitresses gave us great recommendations for the rest of our day.

Thankfully booked a meal here before we started our holiday. We were met outside and waited until they checked to see our table was ready. We had a Guide Dog Pup in training with us and they actually moved our table to give us more room for her. Brought the pup a bowl of water when we sat down. Service was really good, staff were friendly. Food was delicious, I had fish and chips, husband had haggis for starter then sirloin steak that was a special. We finished up sharing bread and butter pudding and custard. Would definitely return if we were back in the area.

Excellent lunch under Covid 19 conditions. Scallops were huge and the Monkfish and chips excellent. Rest of parties meals were also excellent and £22 for a huge plate of prawns was brilliant value.

After a stunning bike ride over the hill on a glorious day, pleasantly surprised to find parking and outdoor table spaces on a busy day. Very chuffed that the fish and chip van outside was happy to make us some gluten free batter despite it being busy, a rare treat and much appreciated. Very tasty too!

Obviously review is tempered by covid and rubbish weather, but otherwise this was a great little place to eat or have a drink in Applecross. Staff v organised and attentive....woman running the place seemed a bit gruff, but actually was very nice and friendly. Food was good but not the cheapest ( but given locarion and semi monopoly, i cant complain) staff all seemed to actually enjoy working there which was good for the atmosphere.....id imagine this place wpuld get v busy and might be dofferent but as they had just opened, it was fairly quiet (though fully booked every night....so id strongly recommend booking a table in advance)Monkfish very nice....had it two nights running !!Kids spent most of the meal beachcombing qhere we could see them wholst having a beer or two.If the sun had come out it qpuld have been idyllic.Recommended, will visit again

First time visit with friends who live locally. Obviously would have preferred to have visited in better circumstances and they had recently opened up. Booked ahead and managed to get table inside. It was our first 'indoor' dining experience post lockdown ending and what a great way to start. Not only was the food excellent (lobster) but the way they had laid out the pub for social distancing made us feel very safe. Given this place is pretty much off the beaten track they could have been forgiven for not being as prepared as they were. So an even bigger plus. Hope to go back when things have returned to normality, but in the meantime a big thank you to the team there for making us feel not only welcome but safe.

Good food with stunning views but we ate at picnic tables outside the hotel from disposable takeaway boxes so it felt a bit like being at a festival. This was due to Covid restrictions so understandable. There are still tables inside but they are severely limited (6 instead of 26 I think)We booked the table early (5.30pm) which turned out to be just about the best time. By 7pm the dreaded midges come out in force so be prepared - you can't simply go in the pub any more if they get unbearable (and they do).Book well in advance - there are few choices in Applecross and they fill up quickly.Staff are doing a great job getting used to working in strange conditions. Will definitely return when things return to something more normal.

We visited here last week, one day for food and one day for drinks. Even though they had not been open long since Covid-19 and had less staff than usual, they did an excellent job. The food and service were great and even though you could tell they were busy, all the staff were happy to have a wee chat with us about the local area and the Applecross beer they serve (buy some to take away, it is great). Would recommend visiting here.

Excellent late lunch/early tea here yesterday. Booking in advance is essential (especially if you want to sit inside) and easy to do. COVID-19 precautions are very sensible and organised- we felt very safe. Food was delicious- we had monkfish and the scallops and shared a raspberry cranachan. I wished I’d ordered the Applecross prawns as they looked amazing! Friendly and attentive service from all, particularly the waitress from Cove- she’s delightful!

During a recent visit to the Applecross Peninsula, we popped into the inn for lunch. The extensive menu was written on a large blackboard - my wife selected the scallops whilst I settled for the crab salad. The scallops were some of the finest we have ever tasted and the crab absolutely delicious. Prices were reasonable. A combination of the superb food and the lovely open fire resulted in a truly memorable lunch - AND my wife wholeheartedly agrees with every word.

We drove here from Torridon in a torrential downpour and gale force winds. The inn was a refuge with a warm fire and very friendly staff. It was clear the staff took great pride in their restaurant. I had seafood linguini which had the most seafood I've ever had on a seafood linguini. While perhaps the sauce wasn't the main/best feature, the seafood was amazing and ridiculously (in a good way) plentiful. At least four large scallops, massive amounts of fish, shellfish, etc.

What can I say we popped in again for lunch, well we drove the 100 miles there just for lunch i should say . When ever we come to stay in Inverness we always drive over applecross pass to the pub for lunch as it's such a nice place and cracking views over the sea. The food is always very very good and at a really good price I had fish and chips and wife had a big haggis melt meal we both had drinks and the whole lot was £24 that's a good price in my books and the quality and size of the food is very good. They had the fire on so nice and warm dogs are welcome if behaved. So our dog laid out on the floor she was very happy. The staff are all very nice and happy to chat to you if you want. If you do anything up here the applecross pass is a must has to be one of the best driving / riding roads in the UK. Do not panic if you see the sign at the bottom saying not for novice drivers. It's just a road on the bikes we race up it very fast and in the car it's just a really nice drive. Lots of pull in places to let other cars pass . She you all next May on the motorbikes

Traditional pub but overlooking the sea, mountains and the islands of Rassay and Skye. Not surprised that it was nearly full indoors on a dry October afternoon as the food is excellent. Plenty of seating outside. Fantastic choice of mains and starters perfectly cooked and presented. Staff friendly and efficient.

I visited here after a recommendation from a friend. I was on Skye and it was a 2.5 hr drive despite being only 20 miles away as the eagle flies ! It was so worth it. Lovely drive, particularly the last 30 mins over the mountains with some seriously challenging roads, often closed in wintry conditions. I received a warm welcome and was shown a comprehensive menu. I immediately chose scallops (from a few metres away) followed by crumble, utterly delicious !Highly recommended

Go to Wetherspoon's instead... Popped in here for lunch, but really wish we had gone elsewhere. We had a chicken burger, and a pulled pork and BBQ beef burger, and both of them weren't great. The chicken burger tasted cheap and heavily processed, and the beef burger was the same. It was also pretty dry and tough, and was missing the BBQ sauce. Both of us actually left a good chunk of our burgers and just ate the chips instead. We spent £56 pound, and the bill came with a service charge included, which felt like a bit of a slap in the face considering the food was bad and the service was non-existent apart from "here's your table, here's your food, here's your bill". I'd honestly recommend going to Wetherspoon's instead of this place if you want food. The food is about the same quality, but half the price. And the service was actually better in Wetherspoon's as well!
