Apothecary in City of London, Westminster

Excellent food and friendly prompt service - but our evening was spoilt by music so ridiculously loud that it was impossible to even have a conversation without shouting. Also by 9pm we were sat virtually in the dark. This has such potential to be great but won’t return in a hurry.

Despite making a substantial deposit and having a reservation for 16 people, our experience at this restaurant was disheartening. The manager displayed rude behaviour and discrimination towards guests with children. Disappointed and disrespected, we won't be returning nor recommending this place to anyone seeking inclusive and respectful service. Marissa the manager (blonde hair) was awful and needs further training in customer service. She was blunt, rude and was denying everything she had said to us in frustration which then made our evening horrible from the offset. We were celebrating a special birthday so made sure we were transparent from the begin. She was stubborn, patronising and overall not a pleasant person to converse with. We emailed whatever we needed beforehand, which she denied (she even exaggerated the number of prams and then proceeded to count how many we had, which was very very petty). Shocked as the food was actually lovely.

The food and service were outstanding. Both our servers were super but Raphael was attentive, friendly and full of good advice about what to order. The grilled prawns were beautiful as were the noodles. The d.j. on the Saturday night just topped the brilliant experience off. I would wholly recommend the Apothecary and look forward to a return visit.

Lieu agréable pour prendre un verre ou manger mais plutôt entre amis. Car c'est un peu bruyant. Service très sympathique. La cuisine est de qualité et de même pour les vins.

The food was absolutely amazing but the service was terrible. We were only called on once as a table of 10 for more drinks during our 2.5hr sitting and we only received 2 out of 3 of our plates ordered per person. Our final plates took so long, we ended up asking them to be removed and we paid up and left. It is such a shame when the quality of the kitchen and front of house just do not match.

I’m surprised this place hasn’t been discovered! The food is phenomenal. It’s always easy to get a table and you don’t have to bankrupt yourself to eat good Japanese (hard in London!) The fried chicken and miso aubergine are unforgettable. The service is great. Sometimes the wait for food can be a bit long but the staff are very courteous and offered complimentary drinks after we sat down and then were asked to move tables (we’d barely taken our jackets off!)

Service was good however the food is very bland, portion size is very small for what you pay .Extremely over prized and came away disappointed.

I went last minuet on a busy Saturday night and it ended up being the best part of my day. Upon entrance I was met with brilliant ambiance and service from all the lovely staff. I really enjoyed the DJ in the front of the bar, really made it feel like a special evening. I cannot say enough about how great the food was!! I had about 4 of the best dishes of my life! The lettuce and aubergine are unmissable.

Apothecary is a bar and restaurant in the hippiest part of Shoreditch fitting in well with its eclectic Great Eastern and Charlotte Street neighbours. In addition to its full range of small dishes it’s recently added large plates such as grilled lamb belly, blackened salmon and rib eye steak. I however stuck to a selection of smaller dishes starting with a miso soup, followed by a squid salad .. but then they seemed to forget about me altogether, so quite a long wait before salmon tataki and a tuns and prawn sushi roll. Although the wait was lubricated by a complimentary beer and some vegetable crisps.
