Sticks'N'Sushi Covent Garden in City of London, Westminster

Visited Covent Gardens branch last night with a couple of mates (one had a gluten intolerance). I ordered a £95 platter for two and the rest ordered a variety of dishes. Server came out with the first batch of food/dishes and gave it to the guest with gluten intolerance as it had gluten free soya sauce and gluten free items and didn’t want to mix things up and she proceeded to eat whilst the rest of us waited for ours. As dishes arrived at the table they kindly pointed out whose dishes were theirs. So the rest of us started to eat and enjoy our food. When I asked the server where my beef teriyaki dish was he said he’d go and find out. Came back out and said they made a mistake and gave it to the gluten intolerant person. I said that’s not great as she’s gluten intolerant and she got a normal dish which she subsequently ate but now I’m a dish down. He graciously tells me that I would need to pay for that if I still want it over and above the hefty £95 price tag??? I said but it wasn’t my fault or her fault for eating it as this was specifically given to her by server. He flat out declined so I left it there as I did not want to make a scene in front of my mates. The situation was handled badly at the very least and it would’ve gone a long way with me if they had just brought me the replacement dish which I did not get to enjoy/eat.

Our server was one of the best around all she served us very well. Her name was Rosani she give us all the information about the food..

Eating sushi in Sticks'nSushi restaurant was a truly enjoyable and unique experience. The combination of fresh, high-quality fish and rice, coupled with the traditional Japanese presentation, made for a delightful meal. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, and the sushi chef took great care in preparing each piece of sushi. Plus, there's something satisfying about trying different types of sushi and dipping it into soy sauce and wasabi. Plus. A glass of Sake.

Food was excellent. Service very friendly and helpful. Ambience bad, sat right in front of the door which was constantly open. Very loud.

😊 wanted vey much to give 5 star after all this is my favorite Japanese restaurant in London and I visit on any occasion when I am in London My favorites are the wagyu beef 🥩 dishes Sushi good as well Service is friendly and welcoming but a bit confused 😌 I did not get my slices of wagyu 👀 which I come specifically Teriyaki arrives late , table stays not clean 😊 despite criticizing still my preferred restaurant and will come on next occasion

I visited Stick & Sushi in Covent Garden last Friday, and I had a last-minute request that Sergio, the person in charge, kindly accommodated. Not only did he provide exceptional service to me and my guests, but he also went the extra mile to ensure our evening was unforgettable. The food was, as always, excellent, and our server (apologies if I misspelled the name) Wuanapa took our experience to another level with her attentive service. Thank you, Sergio – we’ll definitely be back!

Yes, yes, and yes… Bustling rustic and modern (danish inspired) Japanese restaurant in the epic Covent gardens theater district. Top shelf food quality and service. Great selection of sake. Do not miss this culinary experience. I give it 5 stars and my stamp of approval. Well done sticks and sushi!

Visited at the end of October. Food and service was great, however, while eating, the door was fully open, as people queued to get a table, which meant that the restaurant was freezing. Won't be going back.

Delicious sushi and friendly service

So .. I might be a tiny bit biased, as I am from Denmark and have experienced several of their locations, but I’m gonna chime in anyway. The overall experience was kinda meh. I was left with a feeling of having wasted my money, which is never nice to leave with. I was seated outside and it was alright, but the restaurant is very dark and crowded. I understand that a Saturday is busy, but cramming people together has never been a solution to getting a great vibe going. My waitress was very kind, yet quite new, so didn’t know much about the menu. A more in depth training would probably be a good idea, as some people might not be aware of what certain items on the menu are. I knew since I’ve been dining at S’N’S many times, but it didn’t seem consistent in comparison to any of the Danish restaurants. The lemonade was very sour, so luckily it was swapped with a virgin mojito, which tasted fresh and suited the meal greatly. The food was served in an order I didn’t quite understand. I received the rolls first as well as the sashimi and the warm crab cakes - then the sticks arrived after a good 10 minutes and finally the edamame. That for me is kinda opposite. Maybe that’s the way it’s done in London, but I was full when the edamame finally came, which is something I usually nibble on before getting anything warm. The pieces were quite small and only the Pink Alaska stood out. The sticks were definitely not cooked enough and I had to leave one of them, as it felt gooey. The crab cakes also only tasted like batter, and I left 2 of them, since it seemed pointless to finish a plate of dough. I’m not trying to come off as negative and I understand that it was a busy night, but paying 5% in service charge on top of an already expensive meal was just not a great experience. Especially with the quality of the food and level of knowledge - I am sorry to say that I won’t be returning.

Venue was great, surprisingly large. Food was amazing, the miso cod is always great. Only let down was the waitress obviously didn't want to be there

Ordered the Osaka Chaos and Carpe Diem to share. Carpe Diem tasting menu was okay overall; the broccoli dish was pretty basic. Sushi rolls were pretty standard but definitely not at the level you would get at some more traditional Japanese establishments. Rice was too tightly rolled and not enough vinegar mixture. Tempura seemed pre-made but still was crunchy when served. Probably enjoyed the Osaka Chaos the most out of everything. Good ratio of sashimi, tamago to vinegared rice. Will I return, probably not for the price point relative to quality of food.

We've enjoyed several meals at different Sticks 'n Sushi restaurants before and as always, the food was excellent. Unfortunately however - and similar to others' experiences, the service, which started well, tailed off after the main course. The plates were cleared away, dessert menus left, but we then appeared to be invisible to the staff. After twenty minutes, our appetite left us and I asked for the bill and to pay half the service fee. This prompted three separate guilt trips from the server and a decidedly frosty reception from the manager. We noticed at least one other table in the same position (hands in the air for ages) so clearly weren't the only ones. A shame, as this was our wedding anniversary so we left feeling somewhat deflated and resolving to find an alternative eatery in future.

Birthday Dinner 🎂 Had the loveliest meal here, staff were so kind and service is spot on Can’t fault the food, its the most delicious food ever and the cocktails are unreal My only negative is the place is rammed to the rafters and slightly claustrophobicly tight tables at Covent Garden and prefer the Greenwich vibe but that is so so minor and I had the best time Thank you for having us ♥️

Always great food at Sticks n Sushi

Beautiful place with lovely dishes! We were there for the sushi not for the sticks but I’m sure they’re good too. We wanted to try multiple things as we heard so much about the place. The Tuna Tartare Bites are my absolute favourite, everything was delicious. And good customer service as well, accommodating to allergies and dietary restrictions.

The place is amazing, and the staff are incredibly nice and helpful. I was there with my mum, and a lady named (Greta) was fantastic. She could understand what a customer might prefer based on her experience. All of the staff are great, but if this is your first time, ask for Greta, she is truly exceptional!

This meal was our highlight in london. The service was beyond professional - every staff member was well trained, friendly and efficient. The food was superb. This restaurant is very highly recommended.

Fresh fish and a beautiful presentation

The truth is that it is very good. Expensive because everything is small and you have to order a lot, as usually happens in the Japanese... but you eat well and they serve you well!

We visited to celebrate our son's graduation and had a wonderful experience. The food was fresh, beautifully presented, and truly delightful. The service, both at the reception and our table, was exceptional—some of the best we've experienced recently. We would definitely return!

Dropped in for a late lunch on a Monday afternoon. Excited as had not visited for a few years and previously had a great experience. I was left disappointed this time. Worn out seats, indifferent service, cold to warm food (I had deep fried mushroom - overcooked, ebi bites and duck and salmon sticks) and a watery cocktail that smelt too strongly of egg (whisky sour). I honestly wouldn't bother going back or recommend it to anyone. Especially at those prices and an inclusive service charge. A huge shame. Maybe the other branches are better but it felt like just another chain rather than a destination restaurant....

It seems to be a similar theme that this branch is worse than the other Sticks’n’Sushi places in London. I took a relative visiting from out of town for a special meal and was amazed how poor the service and atmosphere is for such an expensive place. For a bill upwards of £200 you’d expect to have a table to yourself instead of Wagamama type shared tables. Several of our orders were forgotten and we had to reorder with duplicates added to bill. It’s a shame because the quality of the food was excellent but as a meal out I would strongly avoid.

Decided on this place from an enthusiastic recommendation of the concierge at the Rosewood. Went with 2 x 2 tasting menus. Food presents well, 9/10 but taste was inconsistent, 6/10, with some the “sticks” coming out lukewarm. Overall 2 star rating due to atrocious service and poor Mangement response to issues. To start, we were seated in a cramped high top next to the bar where there was constant traffic and noxious smells from recently bussed plates of left over food. That corner shouldn’t be a seating area. Clearly a shameless attempt to maximize $/sq feet. Asked to be moved which was accommodated so thank you I suppose. Next, on the 4 tasting menus ordered, 1st person’s set came out within 15-20 mins which seemed unusually fast. The rest of us had to wait another 20 mins for our food to arrive. Meanwhile the 1st person was almost finished. On two of the tasting menus they sequenced the meal backwards and forgot 2 of the 12 dishes. I’m sure they’ve gotten away with that one before with inattentive/tipsy diners. When asked to see the manager he immediately raised the issue of 2 missing dishes without being prompted (suss) and then offered to reduce the bill by the a la carte amount of the 2 missing dishes, £17, and 2 soft drinks, £10. After some back and forth he “generously” agreed to comp 2 additional drinks, £18. I’m sure people will have different views on whether £28 is the right amount for all the nonsense experienced but for us this does not constitute high end dining and is a hard pass on repeating. Lastly, beware of the £1/ person “filtered water” charge and automatic 10% service charge to your bill.

We were very well looked after by our servers, the food was good, we sat outside, it was very pleasant, until the front of house came upto us after we had asked for the bill and paid, they asked us to leave, we were just finishing off our drinks, and he wasn't going to wait, this put a dampener to our meal.

I met a friend here for a Tuesday lunch. Cosy space (the tables are quite close together, so think twice if you have mobility issues), delightful food. We had salads with raw fish which I've not seen elsewhere but can highly recommend. Highly recommend generally!

Second time coming, food was okay. Personally I preferred the food the first time I went but my partner said it was better this time. I was a bit annoyed with the service because I asked for tap water, stressing that I was absolutely parched, and it took them about 10 minutes to bring out some glasses with water. Otherwise the food was served promptly, although the ceviche was very cold so it left me wondering if it had not just been pulled out of the fridge - having said that, my mother really enjoyed the flavours and ordered more. The beef tataki was very good, we ended up ordering more because we loved it so much. We sat outside, so the atmosphere was nothing to write home about, but from my previous experience, the atmosphere inside is quite good:) I’d say that for date night, definitely sit inside. Will probably be back as the sushi is very good.

We went with a couple of friends and the experience was pleasant. The girls at the reception and the waitresses were very kind and friendly. The sushi is good, good presentation, good quality-price product and the environment is pleasant. Fast service. Totally recommended.

The food is absolutely splendid! It was my son’s birthday and the waiter Damian ensured that our desert said happy birthday on it. He’s the goat 🐐, made eating at the restaurant a better experience.

First time visiting this chain. Most of the sushi dishes were great; the ones we didn’t like so much were probably personal choice. Neither of us particularly liked the sticks, so left most uneaten. Service was good, but our table was in an area that seemed to have heavy traffic which wasn’t the best.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sticks N Sushi, and it was an experience that surpassed all my expectations. However, what truly made my evening unforgettable was the impeccable service provided by Gloria. From the moment she greeted us with a warm smile, it was clear that she was dedicated to ensuring our dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Gloria’s knowledge of the menu was impressive; she made excellent recommendations that suited our tastes perfectly, and her passion for the food was evident in every interaction. Throughout the evening, Gloria was attentive without being intrusive, always nearby when needed but never hovering. She anticipated our needs with such grace and professionalism that it felt as though we were the only guests in the restaurant. Her friendly demeanour and genuine interest in making our night special added a personal touch that is rare to find in dining establishments today.

Rosani was great! Very informative with the menu and very attentive service :) a credit to sticks and sushi. Food was quick and well prepared. A lovely stop off on a hot day in London Town!

Popped in for a pre theatre dinner with my daughter without a reservation. The staff couldn’t have been nicer or more welcoming. We had a table outside perfect for people watching and we ordered the perfect day platter which had a variety of options for the menu. The food is delicious and beautifully presented and served with genuine enthusiasm by the attentive staff. We will definitely be back

Many options and extremely tasty sushi!! Love the place!!!

Unfortunately a genuinely poor experience. The food is rushed to the point you feel like you’re in a fast food chain. You will not have been in for 2 minutes before they’ve served you 6 dishes, which just makes you aware of how a vast amount of dishes are prepared in advance and simply reheated, you can also tell in the dryness of a lot of dishes. We tried to purposefully slow down our service by not eating the next dishes which had been served while others had not yet been touched, but our other hot food (obviously premade and reheated by appearance and texture) arrived instantly. Having ordered 16 dishes, all of our food had arrived within 45 minutes. That should not be the case, especially for the price point. Staff themselves were kind and attentive, the business itself is just seriously prioritizing speed at the cost of enjoyment/ Japanese food enjoyment experience. To be honest a lot of the dishes lacked flavour - eg the wagyu bites, Tuna bites, and tuna tataki, there was no actual flavours, just texture. Go to Roka for the same price and food and service x 1000 this. Disappointing. Tables are squashed in line sardines (not how it used to be) just to maximize diners and again get customers out as fast as possible; it’s not a “pleasant” dining experience. The hot food for four dishes was also hot on the outside and ice cold in the middle, where the “meat” was, and we dragged it out for as long as humanly possible with an anniversary celebration meal at £250 final cost, which did not reflect our experience.

I'm a big fan of Sticks & Sushi and have been to several of their locations, all of which have received 5-star reviews from me. However, the Covent Garden branch seems to consistently underperform compared to the others. The food itself is still very good. The sushi platter we ordered was excellent - fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The quality of the ingredients and preparation is on par with what I've experienced at their other restaurants. However, the service is really where this location falls short. The server seemed more focused on socializing with their coworkers than attending to our table. It took a very long time to get our order taken, get refills, and even get the bill. They just didn't seem engaged or interested in providing a good customer experience. While the pricing is consistent across Sticks & Sushi locations, the poor service here just doesn't live up to the standard I expect from this restaurant group. The food is still great, but the lack of attentive service drags down the overall experience. Overall, I'd rate this particular Sticks & Sushi location a 3 out of 5. The food is still top-notch, but the service issues are hard to overlook. I'll continue visiting their other London locations, but I'd be hesitant to come back to this Covent Garden branch unless I hear the service has improved.

Delicious food, the sushi and tartar was all nicely prepared and full of flavour but the biggest winner was the sticks. The duck one was super tender and the other sticks we tried were so tasty, next time I'll go more for the sticks. It is quite expensive however and the desserts aren't worth trying and were average

At the door, a friendly person greets you and escorts you to your table. Then, a warm towel service is provided for hand cleaning... The order part is a feast. Besides the sushi that you must try, I'll mention a few other dishes that are worth tasting. Beef Tataki: a dish decorated with root vegetable chips that leaves a wonderful taste in your mouth. There is also a chicken version. Shake Tataki: my favorite is the beef one. Seaweed salad is different from typical salad options. I recommend you try it. Tuna tartar bites are a must-try. Its presentation with flatbread is very unique, and the taste is amazing. My favorite is Hotate Kataifi: seafood wrapped in kataifi and served hot with a mayonnaise-like sauce. Everyone I've recommended it to has rated it 10 out of 10. There are 3 types of Edamame options. All are very good. I recommend the grilled one. For crab lovers, Kani Korokke is a must-try: perfectly bite-sized round flavor balls. I won't comment on the sushi as that's your preference, but I've tried most of them, and they are very tasty. I recommend you try jasmine tea; it soothes your stomach. The ambiance is great. It’s a very busy branch. In terms of visuals, the Shoreditch branch is my favorite, but I always enjoy going to the Covent Garden branch in the evening. I recommend booking for the evening hours. As for cleanliness, the restrooms are downstairs and always clean. In every aspect, it’s stellar⭐ ZAY

Been here a few times, the cuisine is the amalgamation of two cuisines that always use the best ingredients and are very meticulous about their preparation, so what's there not to like? Been yelled a welcome at has its own charm, the restaurant area is nicely decoratedfoods and drinks are nice. It is a bit on the pricier side, but it is worth the money you pay. I would recommend the sharer plates, so you get to explore a little bit of everything and figure out what your favourites are for your next visits.

Clearing a table fully when someone is still eating is woefully rude! We werent “running late” and we didn’t have any booze that “extended Conversations”. Leaning across dinners to grab the chopstick papers and cleaning a table whilst we’re still sat at it is weird. Just wait till we’re gone! You want us out??? Ok get the message Black cod was good, £22 for it was a piss take.. mostly just average sushi.

Great food, terrible service. The dishes were delicious, but unfortunately the service was a major letdown. We had to repeatedly ask for items, and things were forgotten. Waiting 15 minutes just to pay the bill was frustrating.

Food was ok, squeezed in with other visitors and staff squeezing past table all the time, food is fresh but too complex. Make it less complicated and be able to taste the fish rather than smother it in sauces etc

Came in via 'back' entrance and were asked to "Queue at the other side" by a staff member who quickly ran off before we could ask how we do that. We ended up walking blindly through the restaurant to try to find this queue which admittedly wasn't a great first impression. We felt really awkward passing past customers currently dining. It would have been better if someone had taken 60secs to lead us through rather than let us wander.Perhaps better signage/instructions outdoors?Otherwise excellent experience. Once seated, staff were graat. We loved the food and drinks.

Solid sushi with an interesting menu given the Danish inspiration and "sticks". Pricey for how much food you get and given the food was good not great, giving it a 4. I wouldn't go again.

My partner and I dined in this amazing restaurant where we received incredible service. We had some starters and the sushi platter, both of which were outstanding. We will definitely be coming back!
