I googled the best italians in jesmond and to of the list was Florence. When we walked in there were two other tables eating, and felt very empty, not a great sign. We ordered the King Scallops to start, what turned up were Bay Scallops. The sauce they were served in was so salty it was inedible. I asked for them to be taken away. For main I shared a Bolgna pizza and Carbonara pasta with my daughter. When ordering I asked for a side of Jalepenos, to be told later they had none. The pizza was also very salty, and the carbonara had no sauce and overcooked pasta. Thanks, but no thanks!

Very good lunch visit for 4 of us. Good food, great choice (including roast on a Sunday), excellent service. I loved the lemon tart dessert 😋.

We visited with friends on a Saturday night. The decor is lovely and the service was excellent. We all really enjoyed our food, it was delicious. This was our second visit and in my opinion this is one of the best restaurants in Newcastle. Well worth a visit.

My friends and I had a fantastic night at Florence, our meal was gorgeous and atmosphere lively, Steph and Alex served us, they were super friendly and attentive, a credit to Florence’s and gave us excellent local knowledge about the area when asked. Thanks Steph and Alex you made our night!!

Great food, amazing service! However there seemed to be an owner and his partner sitting near us and we didn’t like how they seemed to treat the staff working. Very off putting seeing this as we ate. The two girls and man working we’re doing a great job!!

Visited on our date night and the service was outstanding from start to finish. The welcoming from Steph and Alecks our servers was lovely made us feel very comfortable. Allergies were well discussed (as I am gluten free) and they had options for pizza and pasta which is rare I have found in the past. Food was stunning, the restaurant beautiful and I will 100% be back!!

Great restaurant setting, lovely food. Could hit 5 stars easily, just left feeling the staff were pleasant but maybe still finding a formula & team, so definitely not a criticism just how it felt. I’ll definitely be back very soon as it’s 4.8 for me Yum Yum

Table booked for 8 people, with contact details left. Travelled two and a half hours for a birthday celebration and when we arrived the restaurant was in darkness, completely closed. No call, no warning, no sign or explanation - just closed. They had my number, they had every opportunity to warn us, but made no attempts and we were travelling over 100 miles. Thankfully Saray Turkish Grill House up the road could accommodate and the food there was fantastic.

Nice setting, lovely food and excellent service. I was entertaining business partners from London and we were all very impressed. I’ll definitely be returning, thank you 👍

This is my first review on this site but I had to report it as I was shocked by the rude waitress and how she treated fellow diners. I think the staff require some customer service training! Very disappointed and spoilt my dining experience.. will not be returning.

Terrible experience, meal didn't turn up, blamed chiefs for getting confused and forgetting a meal (£30 fillet steak) was offered a free beer?? left the restaurant without a meal, the front staff were very disrespectful towards our family when confronting staff regarding our discrepancies regarding the bill (additional items added) was told "its only a glass of wine" (which cost £9) blamed us for splitting bill which caused confusion. Staff (female) confronted my 75 year old father as we were leaving as he apologised for opening the door and it banging, the "female employee" said "not sorry for the way your daughter spoke to me?". Honestly one of the worst experiences we have had and not surprised they have changed their name several times. Avoid.

First visit and will go back. Staff were attentive and helpful. Food was delicious (tried something different to my usual Italian type of meal and didn't regret it). The restaurant is set out really nicely and decorated stylishly. Would definitely recommend.

Visited last night with family up visiting student daughter staying in Jesmond. Absolutely lovely evening and fabulous meal. This was my second visit to the Florence as the first was also fantastic. The food was really tasty and the service was brilliant. The waiters were extremely friendly and likeable. I had the carpaccio starter which was so lovely and the tagliatelle with chorizo and prawns for main which again didn’t disappoint. Great selection of wines at reasonable restaurant prices. All in all we will definitely be visiting the Florence again (and again and again)

Went last night before the Great North Run. Fabulous, pasta to die for spectacular sides. All served by a friendly but efficient staff for a very reasonable price. Will come again if I’m in this neck of the woods. Shame they run out of the fab looking tirimusu, but the pancetta wasn’t too shabby at all.

A friend of mine booked here for a get together while he was in town, we have never been before but what a find! Housed on a busy Osbourne road the frontage is is quite classy, welcomed and shown to our table by attentive but not intrusive waiters. Decor and furnishings are comfortable and the atmosphere is warm. The menu is classic Italian with a varied choice. All the meals we had were delicious, bruschetta is the best I’ve had, the portions are generous and mains are cooked perfectly. The desserts are mouth watering with the panna cotta the stand out one for me. Priced competitively I would definitely recommend Florence as a venue for whatever occasion you are celebrating or attending, we will be looking to return when we can.

There was 3 of us booked for 7pm.greeted and seated and beer for 1 and bottle,of wine ordered for the 2 girls. Wine poured and dishes picked, starters arrived in record time. My chicken pate was delicious, bruschetta was too crunchy. After each mouthful of wine one or the other waiter would top the glasses up immediately which was a bit over zealous. My main was rump,of lamb with veg for £24 it was sliced for me and first two slices were lovely then I hot the gristle and sinew and couldn’t eat it, the veg was very bland but the jus was lovely. Husband had spag Bol which he said was passable and friend had seafood risotto which she said was fine. At no point during the meal did anyone ask if we were enjoying our meal as they were busy. When I did mention the fact that half my lamb I couldn’t cut, the waiter said “I’m very sorry”. By 9pm the fastest meal in the north was over and the restaurant was all but empty. Would I go back, no, would I recommend, no. Plenty of really decent restaurants in Jesmond this one doesn’t cut the mustard.

Amazing service. Complimentary lemoncello shots (wow). The staff were so lovely and helpful, and went above and beyond for my friend’s birthday. Even a free dessert! Highly recommend. Food was brilliant, we all cleaned our plates :)

Well, they said on their website that they were closing from tomorrow for refurbishment. We booked for 7pm tonight. At just after 8, when there were still 3 occupied tables, the staff began removing cloths etc! At 8:15 a team arrived to clear the place....

Every town needs a restaurant like Antico. Pleasant, cheerful and helpful staff are in abundance, management always on hand and exceptional food. Never, ever had a bad meal here. Great selection of daily specials and one of the best filet steaks in the city. Superb.

Absolutely loving the new menu - much better than the old one and I can’t wait to work my way through all of the dishes. My friend and I shared the fish platter and it was incredible - the fish was so fresh and there was a great selection. The mackerel pate is delicious and the freshly baked focaccia pair together so well! I had salmon for my main and this did not disappoint. Served with mussels, saffron sauce and fresh greens - the veg was perfectly cooked. My friend had the mushroom risotto and she loved it. I’ll definitely be choosing that on my next visit. We both had chocolate torte and pistachio ice cream for desert and it rounded our meal off beautifully. Compliments to the chef! Our only complaint is the service - it was a little frantic so the atmosphere was not as relaxed as it could be.

Went to Anticos Jesmond last night 22/10/20. Because we were there fairly early we choose from the early bird menu. It was a lovely meal in fab atmosphere. It was fairly busy but were served in good time. We both had pate for starters which was very nice - & different chicken dishes for mains - one with tomatoes & chillies & one with creamy mushrooms, plus we had one serving of veg & one of very nice chips. I was too full for deserts but my friend had panacotta with fruits of the forest sauce - delicious ( had to make sure it was ok ) Not been here for some time but will hopefully be back soon - thanks lovely evening

We loved our visit here, we were really looked after and the food was exceptional. Our only complaint is that the espresso martinis were below average (we uncharacteristically couldn’t drink them!)

El restaurante estaba muy ocupado ya que era sábado por la noche el fin de semana del toque de queda de las 10 pm. Opté por los tagliolini allo Zafferano porque ya había comido un pequeño bocado antes del restaurante y quería algo ligero. Desafortunadamente, las gambas no sabían muy frescas y el plato en general sabía muy suave. No creo que el chef lo haya sazonado, y después de la generosa ración de sal y pimienta que le agregué en la mesa, todavía tenía un sabor muy suave. Lo que es decepcionante es que dejé la mayor parte de mi plato sin comer y ningún miembro del personal preguntó qué le pasaba a mi comida. Soy consciente de que están ocupados, pero me siento un poco triste como si realmente no les importara. ¿Quizás elegí el plato equivocado? No lo sé, pero fue una experiencia decepcionante.

Hemos comido en el restaurante en más de 5 ocasiones y esta es la primera vez que hemos comido comida para llevar de aquí. Tengo que decir que fue una comida absolutamente horrible, incomible, grasosa y repugnante. No es comparable en lo más mínimo a lo que hemos comido en el restaurante. No se moleste si espera comida de la misma calidad para llevar.

Una decisión familiar de último minuto para el almuerzo del domingo, ya que nuestra opción un poco más local estaba llena. El domingo tiene un menú más limitado con pollo o ternera tradicional y una combinación de alrededor de 8 platos de pizza / pasta.Como era, todos teníamos carne que se cocinaba lentamente y se derretía en la boca. Servido con guarniciones tradicionales. Antes de esto, habíamos disfrutado un par de grandes porciones de piel de papa y unos sabrosos champiñones cremosos de ajo.Bonito lugar y algunos aparcamientos sin permiso cercanos (porque era domingo). O a 5 minutos a pie del metro de Jesmond. Buen servicio. Moretti de barril y una factura justa. Volveré.

Fui a cenar ayer. Todo, desde los entrantes hasta los platos principales, estaban bien preparados y sabrosos. El ambiente y el ambiente son los de un restaurante de lujo. Sin embargo, los precios son extremadamente razonables. Si buscas un lugar atmosférico, con excelente servicio, excelente comida a un precio razonable, este es tu restaurante. Muy recomendable.

Both the starters and mains were amazing, couldn’t fault a single thing, just lovely Italian food. On top of this the staff and especially the manager/owner (?) was so friendly and made it a great atmosphere. We’ll be back soon!

We went back here, food nice but not as good as previous times. The service was a little slow. It was Saturday night so it was quite full. Meal nice but we both agreed quite average. The portions were huge. One of the waiting staff had their mask pulled down the entire time rendering it pointless. It was OK a nice meal but I won't rush back.

Currently, restaurants are closed. Antico have introduced their Pronto Menu (called "Pronto" because it means "ready" in Italian) which allows customers to order food online or by telephone for collection or delivery at a pre-arranged time. Ordering was very easy and allowed for special requests (for one pasta dish, we wanted penne instead of the tagliatelle on the menu). Prices were reasonable and the delivery charge (to Brunton Park, NE3) was very modest. The meal arrived on time, delivered by a very courteous driver who observed all the rules of social distancing. Packaging was user-friendly and the final result was the best take-away feast we have ever had! The food we had matched the excellent quality we have enjoyed at Antico Jesmond over many years. We can't wait to meet the wonderful staff again but we also hope they will continue this excellent take-away service when lockdown finishes.

Finally got round to visiting . Went on a Friday evening , the place filled up very quickly, always a good sign. Food brilliant, selection of wines brilliant, staff brilliant .

Went there on Sunday night with wife and granddaughter. As we were staying at the Carlton hotel near by we had a great welcome and service we only had one course each granddaughter had pizza the wife had pasta bol and I had pasta fruit de mar they were all excellent my granddaughter called lily age 9 even showed the waiter how to make a lily from her napkin will definitely go again when up in Newcastle to see my family again

My wife and I were staying at the Osborne Hotel and on our first night decided to eat at Antico. The food was amazing and the service was superb. Would definitely eat here again.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. I went with a large group of friends and the service was fast and very efficient. The food was a very high quality and plenty of it. Franco made us feel welcome and will certainly come back again

Having eaten here twice now, I can't recommend the food highly enough. I've had the calimari, salmon and asparagus risotto and salmon with peppercorn sauce, and all were faultless. The atmosphere is pleasant,infused with conviviality, but not overwhelming, and the staff are swift, friendly and helpful, with a sense of humour that isn't too in-your-face.

We eat fairly regularly at this restaurant and have never been disappointed. The early bird special is fantastic value for money with a good choice of starters and main. The pizzas are fabulous! The food and service is excellent and the ambience very enjoyable.

Habiendo pasado Antico muchas veces, decidimos probar el almuerzo del domingo. El menú fijo tiene algunas cosas para ordenar y no solo su típico asado de domingo. Teníamos los champiñones y paté de ajo. Los champiñones estaban bien, pero el paté era muy soso. Teníamos la lasaña y pizza muy agradable. Volveremos

Nosotros estamos para el menú de la cena "early bird". A las 11 . 95 por persona para dos cursos, ciertamente no esperábamos nada especial. Pero fue mucho mejor de lo que esperábamos, el filete de solomillo que tuve era tierno, de buen tamaño y estaba perfectamente preparado. Por lo general, tengo filetes mucho peores al doble del precio. El servicio y el vino fue muy agradable como welk

Vine aquí un sábado por la noche temprano (reservé una mesa y un menú para madrugadores) y tuve una excelente comida: pasta, pizza y pollo todo bajó muy bien. Se consideró que la tarta de queso era muy buena. Después de haber comido en varios restaurantes italianos recientemente y haber estado muy decepcionado, fue muy agradable comer buena comida a buen precio. El restaurante estaba lleno y no nos podemos quejar del servicio y sin duda volveremos si estamos visitando Newcastle nuevamente.

Acabo de disfrutar de una excelente comida en este restaurante. Compartimos un pan de ajo y mozzarella para comenzar. Por lo general tuve el espagueti de mariscos que era realmente bueno, siempre dudo pedir pasta de mariscos, ya que puede ser insípido, pero esto fue excelente. I must admit I have not been to this place in a verrrry long time (2013). However, we were pleasantly surprised today following a recommendation from friends to try this place for Sunday lunch. What a little gem!
