Booked for a family group of 6 for the pottery painting . They were only expecting 3. Poor lady trying to staff the shop , cafe ( which btw now only does drinks and cake , not as advertised light lunches etc ) . Takes place at a table in what was the excellent cafe previously. Someone sent over from factory to ‘mix glaze’ . Neither she nor he had any experience of doing this. Was advertised as paint a medium mug or a beaker. Apparently no medium mugs only beakers. No instruction, no guidance left on our own to proceed . Would have left but didn’t want to disappoint the three children. No idea what colour the glazes would turn out! Got on with it …no idea what to do! no one came back to check on us and when we’d finished had to seek someone out to see how to identify ours and when would be ready. One of the party eventually found someone to find some forms online and download! Absolute fiasco from start to finish. Given the high end brand International ANTA pottery name, was really disappointed and surprised. Don’t bother with this activity, should not be advertised as they really are not set up to do this.

Coffee was pretty poor. Only 3 biscuits on offer. Worst thing was the place was FREEZING. Staff were all wearing coats and hats inside. Perhaps problem with heating? If so they should have closed! Or given coffee for free! We left early!

We stopped and enjoyed a beautiful cake and freshly made scone , service excellent. This is a coffee /cake stop enhancing the Anta shop rather than a traditional cafe . Other food is available depending on staff availability but coffee always available. great location and thank you to Cath in shop awesome

We were here a couple of times in August for the Anta sale. We used to really love the Anta cafe. It had great, wholesome food, lovely staff and a warm welcoming atmosphere. It was a destination in itself. But this year all had changed - it was just about hanging on for dear life. There was only a miserable offering of a few cakes, no sandwiches, quiche or soup as in the past. One person only serving. I was amazed. It seemed to be almost dead. And in this expensive home furnishings shop the toilets were a total disgrace. One was closed completely, out of action. The other one was dark with only a faulty, horrible flickering light and the toilet seat was hanging off the pan. All in all a HUGE disappointment.

This is a lovely place to sit and have a lovely relaxing cuppa..the small cafe is situated within the shop it only has about 8 tables so it's usually nice and quiet.Although the menu is small the food is delicious and served on the lovely anta pottery..everything is homemade and the shortbread in my opinion is the best in the north(may require more researching on this tho :)). The Anta shop is lovely for a browse and if you're wealthy enough a few purchases. Wasn't sure about sharing this as maybe I want to keep my wee hideaway a secret.Enjoy!

Have been visiting Anta for years but this was my first visit to the café. 5 of us visited for lunch - limited choice on the menu but the food is wonderful - all homemade and so so fresh and served on the glorious Anta stoneware. Only complaints are a couple of bizarre things - they have Black Isle Brewery beer 'for display purposes only' and not for sale as they are not licenced and also it is a little disconcerting and disrupting to conversation to have shoppers in the pottery stand right next to your table as they admire the displays - would have thought it better to site the shop slightly further away from the café rather than bang in the middle of it! Worth a stop if you are in the area and in search of lunch or tea and buns

Made a special trip to the Anta shop as I was last at the factory about 14 years ago. I wanted to see if it had changed as Anta have become very classy and international. It was still a large shed in the middle of no- where, but a lovely middle of no-where. There were only 6 other people there and when they departed I was on my own. So not busy. The shop had everything on display but things were very expensive. (£57 for one cushion, £60 for a seconds tea pot etc).I enjoyed a lovely lunch, a generous helping of local cheeses and home made oatcakes, all delicious. The tea room lacked a little in atmosphere as it as just me at 1.30 on a Saturday in July. After lunch I headed for the coast at Balintore and enjoyed a walk on the beach on a beautiful sunny afternoon. This place is definitely worth a visit but bring your credit cards.

Slighly surprised to find that anta can price a pot of coffee by the person (2) and not by the pot (1) The menu looks to be priced per pot (1) but we were charged per person (2). Still at least we weren't charged by the cup (4)And we can't imagine actually buying any of the items in the factory shop. Might suit an old-fashioned baronial hall? But everything is down to taste?

We've just bought a holiday house near Nigg and as well as loving ANTA's homeware we have really enjoyed the cafe on several occasions now. It is generally relaxed and peaceful and the food is all homemade and lovely -particularly Andrea's cheese scones! Yum! Perfect for a bowl of soup and a coffee after a walk on the beach.

Staying at the nearby Dornoch Caravan and Camping site we walked into Dornoch for a meal. We chose The Coach House because it is dog friendly. We received a warm welcome by staff and locals alike along with their dogs. Our haddock and chips arrived promptly and were delicious. However, our Westie started making a fuss. One of the locals and then a member of staff offered to “dog sit” so we could enjoy our meal. Exceptional! Thanks to all involved.

This Country Hotel lacks love and attention. Outside front and sides are very tall weeds, the flower boxes were full of wilted. Car park resembles a quary.. On entering the dining room was well presented albeit I felt it chilly . Only 3 diners and we had to wait to see if we would be accommodated. We were..we sat at our table and the really lovely young server took our order limited menu and 3 choices off that evening.. Food was just OK...not value for money @ £17.95 for haddock and chips. Overall not the greatest.. I'd love to see the outside tidied up and give the hotel some road side appeal

After arriving at skye and looking for places to eat this proved a little difficult as it was out of season and places had limited opening hours. We went for Gabbro bar after seeing it on google maps. The pictures of food looked passable. After getting there having to get our own wipes to clean the table after ordering things weren't looking good, then the toilets were very rundown and like a back street bar toilets. The food then came out in baskets, lined with greaseproof paper. (Something you would expect in a arcade) Fish and chips and the macaroni and chips. Even a plate would have been acceptable even though the fish was clearly out the freezer and very greasy. To top it off a random dog was wandering around trying to smell the food on the table and pushing its way under the table to check for any food.

The fab cinnamon buns elevated our coffee stop from great to awesome! Other really yummy cakes are available. Oh, and the vegan tomato pizza swirl looked great too if you fancy a savoury.

A total shambles. Sunday carvery .couldn't eat any of the meat as mostly fat.Plates so small you can't get much else on the plate.waitress saw me trying to catch her attention and hid .eventually came over sheepish with bill and at that point looked at all the fatty meat on plate and her response was sorry about that .we then never say any staff .They had vanished into kitchen .On our way out there was a lady who had mobility issues annoyed there was no disabled access just a set of very steep stairs .£24 each for 2 courses and only starter choice was soup.Dont waste your time .
