Anstey's cove is one fo the most beautiful and is worth the trek down, either via the steps or the windy road. I always prefer the road, I find the steps more exhausting. The cafe is popular or rather ....essential to order to revive and strengthen one for the return trip up the road. I found other travellers were great at encouraging those that were flagging as they neared the top again!!

We found ourselves here on a tranquil sunny Wed morning. Staff are friendly and we had a large order of full English plus other meals which they handled well. A lovely spot, a real hidden gem, cafe has grown over the years and unfortunately become a victim of their own success. Very busy for breakfast on weekend mornings, 3 out of the 4 times visited have not been able to get a table so struggled with quasi takeaway breakfast. When asked if we could use the empty sunloungers on an overcast morning as no tables free, disappointingly told that we would have to pay an additional £5 for the loungers as they were for paying customers only? The irony as I was actually paying for the breakfast at the time! Still a great place to visit in the summer but be prepared for a long wait for a table during busy times. We waited 1 hour and still not successful.

Technically not "dine-in" as it's more of an outdoor cafe and the seating is all open air, but it's hard to beat the view or atmosphere here. There's no access by vehicle and it's a steep walk down and up so it's tricky to get down to if you have mobility issues, but I'd recommend visiting if you like to sit by the sea or having good food. Like, really good food. The Big Rock Burger was one of the best I've had. The prices aren't the cheapest, but they're definitely not the most expensive, especially for the quality of what you get. I even got items that aren't technically on the menu. Couldn't fault the service. Anstys Cove isn't a sandy beach, or even a beach you can really sit on. Want to paddle board, swim, kayak, scuba dive, snorkel, or just throw stones? This is great and the cafe makes it 100x better. Definitely going again.

Live locally, took the dog for a walk and stopped by the Cove for lunch. Its a bit of a steep walk up and down the hill, but there is a handrail to make it more accessible, and it's quite a beautiful path down. Was treated to a gorgeous view of the surrounding coastline and out into the ocean. The food was delicious, and the portion sizes were quite big (I had an icecream milkshake for the first time and loved it). The service was fantastic, and we felt very welcome. It's outside seating only, and dog friendly, and yet it's immaculately clean. To be honest I couldn't find a single thing wrong with this place, and I highly recommend a visit-i know we will certainly be coming back!

We're regular visitors to Torquay and when the weather is good will always visit Anstey's for breakfast. This time we went 3 days in a row, the weather was so good. The views are amazing and a decent cooked breakfast including a veggie option for me! Its one of my Dogs fave places to go particularly as she got some free sausage from one of the girls who works there! One of my favourite places to visit around Torquay for scenic views and good food/drink after a long walk. You can also hire sea kayaks and SUPs (depending on weather/sea conditions). I recommend taking the circular walk (just over 4 miles) from Meadfoot beach to Anstey's cove via Hopes Nose. Quite a pull up to the top just above the Nose, but well worth it for the views. Then down to the wonderful café at the cove for hot or cold food and drinks including local beers and wine. Finally return back to Meadfoot beach via Kent's caverns and Manor Gardens Wood ending up with a cold ice cream at the Meadfoot beach café!

We were finally able to use a luxury high tea voucher given to us for our 60th anniversary in January, postponed for health reasons. Wow!! Worth the wait, it was today 13th November 24, a perfect sunny day with fantastic views across the Bay. We were welcomed by super friendly member of staff. Inside, the cafe was very busy, however we were served almost immediately with coffee and a mini bottle of Prosecco each. Within 10/15 minutes we were presented with a cake stand each containing the most delicious selection of sandwiches, savouries and scone cream tea. We are locals and will definately be returning with family and or friends knowing they will enjoy the ambience and service we experienced.
