The place is quite remote but a pleasure when you get there. You order food at the counter, and pay, then they bring it all to you. Decor is clever and nice and bright and clean. Quality of food is excellent and certainly will fill you up. The cakes are dangerous - too tasty and large.

Excellent bakery and eatery. Shame it has very limited opening hours. They are always very busy so difficult to wait in a queue when you're disabled.

Great choice of sandwiches available which are made to order ssdvice was quick but not rushed so a great opportunity to look at other items such as pies and deserts. I was very impressed with my Tuna mayonnaise sandwich on home. Made sourdough bread. It was packed in a nice box that contained salad, coleslaw knife and fork plus a Packet of Anglesey crisps to take away. My wife had a seafood salad with Smoked salmon and prawns. It tasted delicious and excellent value for. Moneybat £7. We will be back. Thank you Annie and your team.

After a long cycle ride my husband and I saw the sign for Annie's Bakery - like finding an oasis in the desert. Wonderful to receive such a warm welcome from Annie's mother (soon established who Annie was ) all involved generously gave time, in spite of being busy, to explain the incredible, beautifully displayed range of savoury and sweet pastries, cakes etc. An immaculate, professional kitchen with the team working, all visible to customers, was very impressive. A small but interesting shop too. After placing our order we were directed to a pleasant, glazed dining area with efficient, friendly young people serving our delicious lunch. It absolutely 'made our day' to discover this very special place operated with great passion in such a remote location.

My wife wanted to go there because she wanted a "Highland coo" cake and th3y seel th3m here. Great range of quality products and we thought the prices were reasonable given the high quality It's a couple of miles of the NC500 route and maybe 15 minutes for John o groats but we'll worth a visit for their sweet and savoury range. The road is a bit rough, However the setting is beautiful and peaceful and the team were so welcoming. Lovely sunny conservatory. Clean and bright with 2 friendly cats to greet you which my toddler loved! Food was great. MASSIVE CAKES! Highly recommend to locals and tourists. So nice to see a local bakery doing so well. Lovely staff too. Will be back again. X

We found Annie's Bakery on Instagram before we travelled to N Scotland. The opening hours are a bit restrictive, but it is more than worth making sure you get there in time. Without a doubt by far the best bakery we have been to in Scotland. Amazing pies and fantastic desserts. Likely the best cakes, cookies, etc. one can get and we will return to Wick area just to visit the bakery again.

After reading so much from others postings of Annies Bakery, we finally got to see what the fuss was about. Well it didn't disappoint. We had a breakfast roll and coffee. But also bought one of their delicious sausage rolls and a cake for me with a generous portion of nuts in for later. It was so hard to choose as it all looked so delicious. We will be back!

What an amazing place this is! It’s off the beaten track but still very accessible, even for our 7.5m motorhome. The cafe is very well designed with seats indoors and out. They have a little shop which sells all sorts of quirky things and reasonable prices. The bakery has a great selection of massive sweet treats. My eyes lit up when I seen them. They also have lots of different pies to choose from. If pies aren’t your thing, they have a variety of sandwiches with different fillings as well as other lunch options (e.g. baked potato and salads). I opted for a sweet and sour chicken pie and tomato soup. My wife got a chicken curry pie. The pies were fab, the chicken curry being better of the two. The soup was nice enough, although I wasn’t a huge fan of the mascarpone in it. We then went back to the counter for cakes to takeaway with us. We couldn’t decide what we wanted so we chose 4. We got a huge lemon Viennese swirl, Biscoff highland cow tart, caramel mars bar cornflake slice and a mango and apricot muffin. Although it was tempting we didn’t eat all of these at once. Our favourite was the highland cow tart and the muffin. The crispy slice was nice but quite hard on your teeth and the swirl was really tasty but slightly crumbly. The staff at the cafe were very friendly and welcoming. I’d say everything was priced as you’d expect (everything is expensive these days). When I am back up at this side of the country I will for sure be back. PS. Don’t forget to clap the friendly horse - jack

Your restaurant came highly recommended and the food and wine was absolutely superb. Unfortunately this is where the great experience ended as we have never been made to feel so uncomfortable in a restaurant by the people serving us, to the point that we couldn't wait to pay the bill and leave! We were the first table in the evening at 5pm and were seated right by the bar but we struggled to get eye contact with the staff who were either chatting behind the bar or staring into space. At no point did they ask us if everything was ok or if we wanted another drink. We tried to engage them in some chatter when they served us but to no avail. I don't know if in someway we offended them but we really could not work out what we had done wrong to be treated this way. Unfortunately we will not be returning, which is a shame as the food is excellent. Fortunately our evening was not completely spoiled as a visit to the local community centre in Nairn found us invited to a Ceilidh and a very warm welcome and fun evening.

Agree with the other reviews. This is an unlikely place to find at the end of the world. We felt welcomed and in the main enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the cost for the 2 of us. £200 for a snack, breakfast, plate of curry and a bunkhouse bed with no shower and a outside toilet seemed breathtaking expensive. To put this into perspective, we go to a nice hotel each year for a winter break, that's more than we pay per day at the hotel with vastly more civilized amenities. I do understand there are logistics involved at Cape wrath. However for an 'ordinary' local Scottish person I'd be looking to stay at sandwood bay and make a lunch trip to the cafe as I simply can't justify the cost/value. However, it is altogether improbably situated and a must experience if you are doing a long walk. Just be prepae your expectations.

We stayed at Taigh Ailean for our trip to Skye. We also had the opportunity to eat dinner there (Breakfast was included with our stay.) The dinner was so delicious! The view is lovely as you can see the loch from the windows of the bar. All the staff is fantastic and so friendly! I had a great dinner and I would describe it, but the menu changes to suit what is in season and available from the sea. Whatever you get, I guarantee it will be the best! Make sure you call ahead and get a reservation as it fills up quickly. I know that they also have live music, which would be great, but we didn't have any while we were there.

Stopped in for lunch. It was full, but a table became available quickly. Had a very nice gluten free cheese toastie. Hubby had a salad and a side of chips with a black coffee that he said was excellent. I asked for a slice of their gluten free cappuccino cake to take away, and it was moist and delicious. There were more gluten free cakes to choose from. It's a nice wee café and the staff were very friendly and helpful and we'll be back. There is on-street parking and also a car park further along the road. On a nice day it would be lovely to sit at the outside tables and enjoy the view.
