Anna's in Copeland

On entering the premises we were met by a female member of staff who seemed quite put out we had arrived. Have you booked a table she said. No we would just like a drink. Oh well you will have to sit at the bar not a table. We were served by very miserable staff who looked like they would rather be somewhere else.

Friendly helpful staff. Food was excellent. My partner had the Chicken Caesar salad with home-made chips and I had the Philly Cheese Steak Baguette and home-made chips. There was plenty of chicken and the steak was tender and we both agreed the chips were the best we have ever had. If you are in Whitehaven and feeling hungry visit Anna’s and you won’t be disappointed.

Food was lovely!! When the bill came we were charged a £1 for sauce we had two sauces disgusting!! Meals were at least £15 you wouldn’t normally charge for sauce and it was a plastic sachet!!! We would have tipped the staff who were really good but not after being made to pay £1 for a sachet of sauce will not be back sorry that is a rip off

Only stopped in to get a drink. Could not order a drink without a table number, meaning we had to go back outside to find out the table number. No local rum on sale (in a place where the big attraction is rum-connected). Table had shards of glass on it (one of our number cut their finger). A poor experience.

Visited Anna’s again recently with friends as it’s our favourite go to place. Tapas delicious as usual and cocktails yummy. Staff are so polite and attentive. Well done Team Anna’s keep up the good work !

I'd never been before, I had a Espresso Martini cocktail, Tandoori skewers and garlic mushrooms. All were delicious and beautifully presented. I thought the garlic mushrooms could've used more garlic but I was getting over a cold so maybe it was just my marred sense of taste. My colleagues said they could smell the garlic.

Since moving to Cumbria on a nice Sunday morning really enjoy a walk round the harbour with digs and friends. Like to stop for a beer here, it’s a lovely spot, good selection of beer, good price, nice decor and very friendly staff.

I booked for lunch and drinks and was not told when booking that there was a time limit. We were hassled repeatedly by staff to finish from 30 minutes before our 'end' time, including being told not to have a last drink 20 mins before as we 'wouldn't finish in time'. I'd recommend Zest, the Pour House or the Vagabond as an pleasanter alternative in Whitehaven.

Food was really tasty (when we eventually got it!) Service was really slow and most of the waitresses were quite sour faced. They definitely forgot about our order as it took 50 minutes! When we asked where the food was the waitress was pretty snotty about it. However, when we got the food it was really flavourful and tasty. I’d definitely recommend the Cajun king prawns. Also, the cleaning spray they use stinks of bleach which ruins your food when you’re eating and it’s sprayed next to you.

Visited Anna’s a few week ago with friend’s for lunch and was very impressed with the food and service, so booked again to take the family and again was very impressed food was fabulous and the service was 10/10 staff very attentive.

The restaurant is clean and tidy. Staff were friendly. The food was way too salty. It’s the 2nd time I’ve been now and we all commented about how salty the tapas dishes are. Also there was so much sea salt over my hand cut chips. Had to shake it all Off

Took my wife & son for food on her birthday. Decided on 3 tapas & a drink each. And our son loved his cake. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL food. Mediocre food served by staff that can’t really be bothered. This place is the nearest to me and I really wish it was better but unfortunately they fail every time I give another chance.

Great location on the harbour side, nicely decorated and a good ambience...But the food was awful, the only choice on Sunday is Sunday Lunch so that what we ordered. Big plate of food but only just warm, saw other tables sending plates back to be reheated. Mashed potatoes lumpy and full of half raw potato, carrots and broccoli ok roast potatoes not roasted, yorkshire pudding looked great but tasted of cooking oil, the roast beef was average. The meal was like something you might expect to get self service chainstore cafe. Saw people leaving almost full plates of food. None of the serving staff were wearing masks, saw people leave as they didn't feel like it was a safe environment. That said the staff were very friendly.

The service was poor, it took 35mins after sitting down at the table to get asked what we wanted, then 10 mins later a menu arrived, then 15 mins later someone came and took our order. It took another 35mins for the baquettes to arrive. There were a number of other people who were also waiting. It was amateurish service and the staff were ineffectual, no eye contact with the customers. Just laughing off customers when they said about the delays.Don't bother coming here unless you enjoy long delays.I'm not the only one to notice this on Trip advisor, I'm glad its wasn't must me that's observed this poor service.

I have used Anna's for the last few years. Visited again today. We sat outside on the harbour with spectacular views. The food was lovely and the service good. Well done guys keep up the good work.

This is the worst place I’ve ever been in. The staff were very inexperienced and no warm welcome. They are not professional at all. One member of staff was eating breakfast (salmon & scrambles eggs and toast) in the restaurant while the other staff member told us they had no food for us... ???? The floors were filthy dirty (picture attached) the toilets were filthy also. Not by any means a warm, welcoming, clean friendly place. Very very disappointing. We will never go back.

Dropped in for lunch and a drink on Saturday bank holiday. Ordered a couple of seafood tapas and a seafood pizza. Not knowing what to expect in terms of the food quality, I have to say it surpassed all expectations. The seafood pizza didn’t rely on tinned tuna and anchovies, but was adorned with delicious squid and mussels. The s & p squid was fresh and perhaps the most tender I have ever tasted. Clearly cooked by a capable chef, and NOT from the freezer. The beer on tap was a lager I wasn’t familiar with (Italian I think), but it was served nicely chilled, and was crisp and delicious

Came into Whitehaven after a few days sailing around the coast and went to to the first bar for refreshments. We seated ourselves at the table and was greeted by a member of staff and given a menu and ordered cocktails. After waiting a long time and seeing others being served we asked another member of staff where our drinks were and she took our menus away. After talking to staff and waiting for 40 minutes we realised they didn't think we were the right people for the place and was being ignored until we left. We did leave and I'm sure this establishment will soon be closed. To be successful you have to see beyond stereotypes. The Waverley Hotel was one of these places and would recommend anybody visiting Whitehaven to stay or have a drink at.

Visited today all staff members using mobiles even a Black haired guy in kitchen playing on phone.... cigarette ends all over the place dirty tables, dirty toilets, and dirty staff.I think the owner needs to close down for a while have a very deep clean and reorganise her staff.Hygiene is atrocious.If this is the best Whitehaven as to offer... We arrived on time, were seated at our reserved table, which for a start was already squished against a glass door making it uncomfortable to sit up.after being shown to our table we had to wait 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order and that was only after we had shouted someone over. following this it took a further 30 minutes for us to be served 4 drinks (totalling 1 hour), once again after asking 2 members of staff where our drinks were.After being there for about an hour and 15 minutes we finally got served our food. this was nice hence the 2/5.once we had finished we had a guy with no mask on that had been wandering around without it on, talking to every table come and take out plates away.Adding to this the entire time we were there it felt like we were in a night club with loud music randomly turning on and off and a loud bunch dancing around.once we went inside to pay we realised why everything was taking so long, even though they had 5 or 6 staff working 2 of them were sat inside eating a pizza from Chattanooga.the number of people there realistically would require 2 staff members to take orders and take out food, so why 6 couldn't i have no idea.but yes the food was nice.

Ordered first ever takeaway from here, chips were uncooked, could tell by just looking at them as they were still white and they were hard when bit into them. Burger was absolutely swimming in grease, the bread was sodden. Called to ask for refund as we had to throw it all in the bin and all they could do was give us in house credit, why would we accept this as why would we want to eat here again? Or they could send us another up, we had already waited an hour & 20 mins for it so didn’t want to wait for another. I asked can we please just have a refund and we were refused one. So thanked them for their awful service.

Last night was the third time we’ve ordered from Anna’s takeaway service and unfortunately it will be the last. Every time there’s been an issue: food almost an hour late, cold food, overcooked food. Our food last night arrived late, almost all of our hot items were cold and our garlic bread and churros were burnt, hard and inedible. I’d ordered the king prawn pasta (for the third time) and on the menu it states that the prawns and pasta come in a cream and pepper sauce - no mention of meat. Last night it arrived with small chopped up pieces of pepperoni in it. I’m pescatarian so unfortunately couldn’t eat it. If ingredient changes happen, I feel they should be included on the menu. The pizza we ordered was soggy with a burnt taste to it so again, that went without being eaten either. Each takeaway we’ve ordered has cost over £50 so we do feel pretty disappointed. Will know not to order now in the future.

Ordered a take away .. took a while but it’s Saturday so that’s fine. Pizza was stone cold and not even cut!!! Supposed to be a hot shot but it was pepperoni with chilli flakes. Cheddar cheese no mozzarella. Chicken was very hard like it had been heated up a few times even my dog had trouble chewing it. Pulled pork burger was bland no seasoning tasted funny. And no bottled beer was given as stated with the burger and fries. Will not be here again. Not cheap either. Very disappointed

Firstly, credit where credits due the food is good, takes a while and quite pricey but is nice unfortunately that’s where it ends, the place feels a bit run down which is a shame as with the right backing and encouragement has the basics to be a great town bistro bar coffee house, the service is nothing short of terrible, uninterested staff who have very little knowledge of their role, product or customer service, feels lost when you walk in with no sign of a friendly greeting more that you are a hinderence on the staff having a crack. The staff seem not to know their own rules as refusing a table of two with dogs whilst stood next to a table of two with dogs!! A shame as it could and should be so much better.

We had gone into Whitehaven to do a supermarket shop, as town is a 40-50min drive from where we were staying in the Lake District, decided to stop on the waterfront for a hot drink, we made a mistake stopping here. Latte was not very nice, weak/not much flavour but hubby enjoyed his hot chocolate, disappointing.

Perfect location, fantastic food and excellent customer service. After a disappointing visit up the road in a nearby cafe, we stumbled across here whilst walking along the marina. It was full of people and very busy. We found a quiet table outside and looked at the menu. Such a variety of choices and impressed immediately. Ordering a ‘Philly Cheese Steak baguette’ and a ‘side order of homemade chips’ this food was incredible. We had a flat glass of coca-cola (due to the barrel running out) but they quickly replaced it and apologised for the inconvenience. Friendly customer service too. Definitely go here for a spot of lunch overlooking the Marina and have a nice walk on the harbour wall to burn off all that tasty food! We would return and recommend to anyone visiting Whitehaven.

We have frequented Anna's a couple of times in the week we have been here and it is lovely. The food is great. They have tapas and a few main course selections. The pizza was fab and the pulled pork bbq skinny fries are gorgeous. Staff are lovely. You can sit outside on a nice evening.

Tasty vegetarian breakfast outside with lovely harbour side views. Recommended. No dogs inside however tables outside.

The café is situated directly at the promenade by the harbour of Whitehaven. If you are looking for a lovely café, you have to got to Anna's! Gorgeous food and tea as well as a beautiful view on the harbour and the impressive candlestick.

My friend and I were walking along the harbour and nipped into Anna's for a coffee. Once we had studied the menu we thought we would try the food as it was such a nice cozy warm little place with nice decor and friendly staff.There was not a lot of vegetarian options and no vegan options that I could see but they did have a Halloumi Wrap which was delicious and the portion size was very generous.Anna's also had a very nice selection of wine to compliment our food.My friend and I sat with her baby and just watched the world go by. Very impressed with this restaurant and will certainly return.Thank you

This is right on the harbourside with outside seating. You can sit and watch the boats in the harbour. The food is excellent and the service is good. Try the Capaccino it is delicious.

Popped in after shopping for welcome glass of wine and delicious shared plate of sweet chilli chicken and sweet potato chips. A great early evening/ late afternoon treat! We'll definitely make a habit of this!

We all like brown bread but when asked they said they did not do brown bread, so we didnt eat here had a cup of tea though.

We popped in here for a pint with a dog on a nice night, sat outside enjoying the atmosphere, and on a whim just decided to order some tapas, it was good. The hallumi chips were amazing some of the best ive had. Some of the other items, such as the meatballs needed more seasoning. Price was okay

visited for the fizz friday, which was a really good deal; bottle of prosecco, and a sharer. food was good, but service here over the recent months is definiately deteriorating. on our visit there appeared to be plenty of staff, but still quite inattentive, with young male servers play fighting behind the bar area.there was also a large group in, which over time became really loud, banging on the tables, some by now evidently quite inebriated, but still the staff did not even simply ask them to" calm down a little".i note in other reviews (January 2019) they make a note of saying their reason for not accepting dogs inside was because they primarily " are a restaurant". if this is the case then why were they permitting customers to behave like this and what about health and safety, as some were staggering to the toilets and one was holding the outside door wide open without making any effort to move for other customers " to escape"! in what was also a possible confronting manner.unsure if we will return if this is to continue

We decided to visit Anna's for a morning bite! Nice setting on the edge of the harbour, we found the staff appears to be unattentative. I decided to order the Bacon Muffin instead of a sandwich and although 50p more it was quite small! To be honest I was quite disappointed with our visit!

I pop in occasionally for a flat white as they make good coffees.Lovely location overlooking marina, tables outside as well. Great deco makes it a very cosy spot.I had a brekkie once but, unfortunately, they only had white bread. As it was a while ago, I hope that now they offer a bigger choice.It is not just a cafe as they offer evening dining as well.Little gem in Whitehaven.

We have been here a few times now and it’s one of our favourite little restaurants in the town. We decided to go for the tapas. Three dishes for £18. Lovely as always.

Called in for lunch just after noon, and it wasn't busy. Ordered two of the sharing platters of 'smothered crow's with sweet chilli chicken and jerk chicken. They took ages to arrive, and were hardly worth the wait. The jerk chicken tasted like it was cooked in brown sauce, whilst the sweet chilli chicken was a pale imitation of Zest's Work chicken. Quite a difference in the amount of fries in each dish as well, which was odd.We have had better food than this at Anna's, so not sure what was wrong this time.Not sure if we'll go back.

There is a vibrant atmosphere in Annas cafe. There are some seats outside if you hit the weather right and some seats inside, which are pretty novel, as the table and chairs have been made from old school equipment. The cafe is pretty small inside, which makes it tricky to get tables when it’s at its busiest, however this does add to the vibrant atmosphere.The sandwiches and drinks have all been nice when we’ve been.

We came back in summer & had tapas & cocktails 5 of us! The food and cocktails were absolutely amazing couldn’t fault them at all! Only little problem we found was, the staff weren’t very attentive, we felt ourselves going up to the bar & asking for a lot of things. 10/10 for food though!

Looking from the outside you may think that this is just an average cafe that would do care type food and you would be totally wrong.As well as all the fancy coffee you would expect there's a fully stocked bar. The highlight for me tho was the food. There is something for everyone and specials. I had the BBQ pulled pork wrap and couldn't believe how stuffed it was. Friends had a burger and pasta and both were great portions and tasted amazing.A just visit when in whitehaven, walk round the harbour then a proper good feed in here is my advice you won't leave feeling empty (I didn't have room for a pud)Staff are really friendly and the prices are spot on. We visited Anna in a large group for our staff Christmas meal. I've never eaten there before and was pleasantly surprised as the menu I thought was a bit average as a vegetarian. The halloumi wrap was actually lovely as were the chunky chips that came with it. Everyone was really happy with their meals. I will definitely be going back.

Visited here in September, quirky place but loved it. Food was great and I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews. I can't remember her name but the lady serving us that day was lovely, friendly, chatty. If I'm ever back in Whitehaven I'd come back here again for lunch!

White wine arrived and it was warm, food wasn't what we expected, was told four tapas would be enough for two of us but it wasn't great. Very greasy an tasteless. Didn't touch the food and they refused a refund.

Lovely location with views over harbour and attractive decor . Popped in for a couple of drinks early evening . They have got the ambiance right with low lights and nice music but the staff are a bit of a mixed bunch ..mostly inexpericened and slightly grumpy ! The windows were very grimy with all the finger prints which had accumulated over the day left on for the evening session. Also the toilets need a good deep clean . Quite smelly !! Not too difficult to get these thing right . People will put up with mediocre food for a nice venue and pleasant profession staff . Venue can't be beaten but the rest needs work.

Met up with friends here on a cold and damp day and it was the perfect location for a lunchtime bowl of "home made" soup. Enjoyable surroundings and reasonably priced.

Asked the staff behind the bar and the response was just a bunch of teenagers with blank faces, that looked like they didn’t want to be there. Me and my husband went to Anna's for breakfast. I ordered the pancakes while he ordered the full English. We both think the the bacon would be nicer if it was crispier; pancakes tasted smooth but got a bit of unpleasant milky smell(to me); very good sausage; looks are quite good; will not go back for breakfast;

On our first visit to Whitehaven we were stunned to find it practically deserted in August and we couldn’t see anywhere to eat at first, so essentially stumbled on this place. Not a very obvious frontage, but the decor is quirky, someone has been really creative with the tables! It was very quiet, but we were there quite early, which meant we nabbed a table with a great sea view. The food was great, I’m vegetarian and it was refreshing to find several options available. We opted for tapas which was delicious. I was pleased to see that the children’s menu was a departure from the usual sausage and chips with good quality options for little ones. I imagine this becomes more like a bar at night, and would be a lovely place for drinks with a view.

Although there were other choices on the menu we opted for Tapas. The selection was good, came swiftly and we enjoyed them all. The offer of 4 choices for a set sum allowed three of us a substantial meal for two sets of four. We’d come again

Whilst on a drive around the west coast we called in to Whitehaven and decided to stay for a bite to eat. Found Anna's whilst walking through the harbour. So glad we stopped. As we only wanted something light we went for the 4 plates of tapas for £19. Two plates of chicken goujons , one plate of chicken satay skewers, a bowl of patatas brava together with a basket of bread and drinks. The food was beautiful with friendly and polite staff and we ate outside overlooking the harbour. We will definitely remember Anna's if we're ever in the area.

We ordered a chicken caeser salad and a wrap. None of them tasted good. The chicken in the salad tasted only plain and boring, not even a bit salty flavor. The bread crumbs in the salad were not dry crispy but a bit soft chewy instead. Feels like haing been lying in air for many hours so lost its crispiness. Table felt sticky and not clean too. There were some food remains on chair when I on my way to sit down. There were many people coming for drink though. For visitors who are after a meal, I won’t recommend this place.

A visit to Anna’s should be missed! After waiting 30 minutes for someone to take notice that we were even there, they took our order for food and drinks and then we waited and waited and waited on uncomfortable stools and still waited just for two cans of drink. In this time it was noted that there was bits of food and dirt in the corner near to where we were sitting. So after getting extremely frustrated we up and left. Appalling service and the food didn’t look great either. There were tables to be cleared but no one seemed to have any idea on how to run an eatery ..... extremely disappointed and would not return.

Breakfast with friends. Ordered drinks. All came except one coffee which took half an hour to arrive. ordered food.... 25 minutes later we were asked to order again because there had been a problem. After an hour we got 1 breakfast and an undercooked pancake which was returned. Then advised there was no brown bread so couldn't have brown toast. After a further 20 minutes the other breakfasts arrived. The waitress was positively rude and avoided any questions we had about how long the food would be. No apology, nothing. Often visit and have posed positive reviews previously. This visit was really awful. Feeling ill after the second undercooked pancake which I ate out of desperation.Think I will be giving it a miss for a while.

Disappointed visit, food was ok, tables very sticky as if they needed a good clean, had to change my glass as it had pink lipstick all along the rim. Lots of uncleared tables inside and generally looked unclean. Service very slow!

Slowest service for a cafe that I have ever had, given that the place was almost empty, we seemed to be invisible.

The food was not bad, the staff friendly enough and the surroundings pleasant. However, this doesn’t excuse the fact that the tables, menus and windows all seemed to be covered in a film of grease, or even sticky in some places. Probably the most important quality in an establishment selling food. A shame, as it has the potential to be so much better.

Lunch for 2 adults & 3 kids but we were even offered a children's menu. The decor is quirky and we were looking forward to our lunch. Food was well presented but lacked flavour. Especially for the price. We were served quickly but then sat looking at our drinks waiting on the counter for 10 minutes before the poor waitress had time to bring them over. Food finally arrived but we had to wait for cutlery & my youngest son had to wait 10 minutes longer than the rest of us as his food was brought out after everyone else's. The menu has some interesting items but I think they would benefit from some more simple choices. There are atleast 10 types of tapas but my kids would have been happier with a ham sandwich! Such a shame - we felt like the fancy menu was an attempt to justify the prices (£8-10 each) but we weren't amazed or even full when we left.

Am a regular here in the summer but went today and it was terrible. Had to order inside as was eating outside. Ordered food and drink, was told they would bring the drink out for me. It took 35mins to bring the drinks out, and a further 25 before food came. During my time I saw more people walk away then were served!!!I appreciate places get busy but they should discuss the delay at time of order rather the taking the order knowing that they are going to disappoint.

After booking Anna's well over two weeks ago for a works party. We were told that we needed to book the food in advance as approx 20 people were going to attend. This was no problem at all, But we were then told that the menu was going to be changed. We phoned numerous times and went into the cafe numerous times ( which got embarrassing ) asking for the menu. The guy actually said he would drop one off at our work place. Brilliant we thought!!!But on OUR next phone call that we made again we were told the manager was on holiday, And he hadn't had time to do his new menu so they still hadn't got one. And it needed changed!?!?!?I said why did he have to change the menu when he's on holiday?? And why couldn't we have off the menu in question. He wasn't bothered at all couldn't care less whether we went or not. So we have now cancelled and booked elsewhere with no hassle at all. Will not be returning to Anna's As they couldn't even be bothered to call us to explain what was happening never mind give us a menu. There is competition out there. And you have lost many hundreds £'s from us. How much more have you lost because of this???Service is horrendous and couldn't care less attitude

I went to AnnA's alongside my parents and younger sister. We pre-booked an afternoon tea for four. Boy we were not disappointed, we were greeted by lovely staff, shown to our table and our drinks order were taken. It wasn't long until the most amazing afternoon tea was produced. Plates of freshly made sandwiches, packed with delicious fillings, two three tiered cake stands also arrived. They were full of so much choice we weren't sure where to start. We had to use an extra table to be able to move around our delightful layout!We couldn't finish it all but the staff at annas were more than happy to provide us boxes to take it all home. Really wonderful place and the best afternoon tea I've had so far. Would 10/10 recommend to any person looking for a treat.

Visited the cafe today and had a coffee and toasted tea cake which was passable. However the cleanliness of the place and toilets leaves a lot to be desired. The staff need training in pleasantness

Called in for late lunch after coastal walk, the food was amazing!!! Never had nachos like that before, a must try.

A friend and I popped in for a lunch time meal on a Sunday. The place has a nice cafe type feel to it and was clean whilst we were there. I got the pulled pork wrap which was absolutely delicious and a very healthy sized portion. Affordable. Service was exceptionally prompt as well. My friend just got a cup of tea with a scone. The scone tasted as if it’d been baked the previous day, but was fresh enough.

Just a casual "walk in" . Table cleared after we arrived....but we had to request that it be wiped . The "shabby chic" tables would benefit from glass tops. Even after wiping , our table felt dirty/sticky .

Good price for a breakfast, under £5 for a breakfast, cuppa and toast. However , sticky wooden tables could do with glass tops as they feel disgusting and dirty. Visited twice now and the tables just feel so dirty it is very off putting . Staff not as helpful as they could be, struggling to find sugar for two coffees
