Nice meal out in Moffat. This is a traditional Hotel, but offered a very nice meal. Meal could be in the bar, or the restaurant. Good choice of food- mostly traditional fare.

Had an overnight stay in Moffat on way home from a holiday In the highlands. Came here for an evening meal. Very traditional, old fashioned little dining room and friendly staff and really great food! Pies, puds and wine all really good and tasty! Excellent value. Unassuming place with a good chef serving up an unfussy and tasty menu. Well done!

Five friends and I, all members of Birmingham Advanced Motorcyclists, spent two nights at the Annandale Arms, at the end of our annual tour of Scotland. On the first night we made the mistake of dining at Spice India, almost opposite the Annandale (without doubt the worst and least authentic Indian meal any of us had ever had). On the second night we ate at the Annandale. The food was freshly cooked, good quality and reasonably priced. The atmosphere in the bar before and after the meal was excellent. The highlight is always the service from Elaine, who appears to run the bar, reception and restaurant front of house single handedly.

Ate here whilst staying nearby and wasn’t disappointed. The food was great (recommend the venison). Dog friendly, and the staff really thought about where to put us. Somewhere out of the way so the dog would settle. Brilliant. Beer was well kept, but wasn’t much ale on when we visited which was a shame

We enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant. There was an interesting and varied selection to choose from, and despite being part of a hotel, prices were very reasonable. My starter of pigeon breast, on black pudding and potato scone was not only really nice, but just £6.50. Restaurant itself is modern, clean and roomy. Service from staff was really good. Would recommend.

Another one of the 5 mature motorcyclists. We used this as our base for a long weekend visit. The rooms may be a little dated, but I had a room which opened onto the car park, and it was a good sized room with everything I needed. Tea and coffee making facilities, good sized bathroom ( shower over bath) plenty of space. Rooms very clean and the bed very comfortable and a good size. Bar area very traditional, wood panelled etc. Good selection of drinks. Restaurant clean and tidy, food excellent. Had two very good evening meals, well cooked and very good service. Breakfast, for me was perfect. Full Scottish, very good. Poached eggs good. No complaints. Coffee and toast plentiful. Special thanks to Kayleigh( hope I’ve spelt it right) went the extra mile to make us welcome. Will happily return.

We were staying at the hotel and after looking at the dinner menu decided to eat in. Plenty of choice for dinner with emphasis on local produce. From the food produced there is clearly a proper chef operating here and not someone whose ability is limited to opening the latest delivery from a catering distribution company. Breakfast was cooked to order, and all the better for that.

Having spent the week up in Cullen we broke the journey home up with a stay at Moffat. We were undecided where to have our evening meal and opted for Annandale Arms. A pleasant surprise as the food was really good. Both me and the wifey had a pie and the red pepper, steak pie was fab. All hearty portions with the kids enjoying theirs. The bill didn’t break the bank and we left happy with our bellies full. Would recommend this place albeit you may need to book as it does get busy at weekends

Although we had visited Moffat many times, this was our first visit to the Annandale Arms restaurant My starter of Cullen Skink was excellent and the portion was just right. For our main course, my partner chose the fifth and chips and again, it’s was cooked and presented perfectly. I had the flat iron steak with chips, and two sides of peas and mushrooms. The taste was superb. Service was good and the girls who waited on our table were friendly and attentive. The prices are good as well and I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant whatsoever.

As a party of 4 adults, 6 children and a dog with no booking on a Saturday night we had traipsed around pretty much every hotel and restaurant in Moffat looking for something to eat and been turned away at every door. Either the dog was welcome and the kids not, or the kids were welcome but the dog not, or they were fully booked. So when the Annandale said yes we were just relieved and sat down with frankly low expectations. These were exceeded on every level. A bowl was brought for the dog, some surprisingly delicious and clearly freshly-made food was served and the puddings were completely exceptional. Hurrah for the Annandale!

We visit Moffat four times a year for our usual three night stay during which we visit friends. For more years than we care to remember, on arrival, one of the first things we do, is to make reservationists for dinner in the restaurant of the Annandale Arms hotel and invariably also have lunch. On our October visit, we were recognised by the reception staff and made our bookings. We also wanted to have lunch in the bar but were advised that they were fully booked for this. We did note that there was a coach from Ratho’s of Edinburgh parked outside the hotel and a lot of people got out. Hence the booking.

Good honest Scottish food - well cooked and thought out. The service was excellent. Special mention for Oliver who was managing the hotel for the evening - he apologised for what he thought was chaos, but it didn't show. They were very busy and he was great at multitasking as well as serving people who arrived about 5 minutes after the restaurant was supposed to close, without making a fuss.

Just called in for quick lunches with friends but we very much like the decor which is traditional and comfortable and the food and drink enjoyable and very good value. Husband enthused over his omelettes!

The best restaurant meal I've eaten in several months. The food was very well cooked and presented with generous portions. Not only did we like our food but we liked the look of what other people were eating! The service was friendly and attentive. Overall very good quality and value.

We came in quite late (8.30) and were warmly greeted. The eating area was quiet but the staff were friendly. We both had gammon, which was well cooked. Would happily return. Great selection of drinks.

We enjoyed a very well cooked meal in the warm and comfortable bar. The local lamb was superb and the steak pie was also very good. Both went well with the Broughton Beer Merlin's Ale. Service was excellent. Looking forward to another visit.

Having visited the Annandale Arms restaurant recently with friends, I have to say we were impressed and delighted with the service received. The staff on duty were professional, welcoming and knowledgeable of the menu, attentive during our visit and appreciative of the feedback given. The food was well presented and full of flavour with local produce selected where available. The restaurant was warm and had a pleasant ambiance, we felt relaxed and were given the impression that our custom was important. I will definitely be visiting the restaurant again. It is lovely to see staff who are attentive to detail and engage with customers using a person centred approach. Thank you.

Having telephoned to check availability due to the Jan 2 bank holiday, we drove an hour for lunch. However, it was not to be. The hotel is very easy to find and on street parking nearby was easy. At the hotel entrance boards displayed menu information so in we went to see four other guests being served. The lady on duty firmly told me she was busy serving the other guests, so I enquired about menu availability. The lady said that because there was only one chef on duty they wold probably be unable to serve our party of 7. Minutes later she confirmed this. Apparently, whilst I had rung in advance she was not aware that we were such a large party! Having a background in the hospitality industry we were staggered that any chef could not cope with 7 guests (in add-on to the four already seated). Very disappointing.

We have eaten many times at Annandale Arms. However, when we returned at end of nov 13 on a quiet Monday evening, my husband and I picked from separate menus, I wanted the bar menu and he wanted the restaurant menu, not a problem you would think. However, we were told if we wanted our choices we would have to eat separately, as the meal couldn't be served together, astonishing... We challenged this and asked if we could eat both meals in the bar... No was the answer... That's not allowed.. Unbelievable. Do they want to do business? We chose to leave and then ate at the Buccleuch Arm which was excellent. 2 starters, 2 mains, 4 wines and coffees, good business for a Monday evening. Really disappointed with Annandale, very inflexible and not customer focused. Time to think about what customers want.....

Moffat is a handy stopping off point just minutes from the M74 and the Annandale Arms is well worth a visit for a meal. Plentiful parking outside the door. Great food and friendly, efficient service. We ate in the spacious bar area but got restaurant standard meals. Very accommodating for younger diner too.

The breakfast at the Annandale was superb. The description of all of the ingredients of the "Full Scottish Breakfast was a nice touch. All of the food is locally sourced and the local suppliers are named. It was nicely presented and excellent quality. There is also a wide choice. My wife thought the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup was top notch. We also had dinner one evening which was very good. The black pudding and apple fritter was a novel and very tasty starter. The restaurant was very quiet whilst we were there but the attention and service we received made up for it.

Willing and friendly service, but menu lacks sophistication, though local venison was very good. French, rather than New World wine was a plus!

While on holiday, we were pleasantly surprised by the selection of restaurants in Moffat. On our first Sunday there, as we hadn't made a reservation and it was well into the evening when we ventured out, all the restaurants were full. However, although the Annandale Arms Restaurant was also fully booked, they set up a table for us in the lounge area next to the bar. As they were accommodating, we booked a table in their restaurant for later in the week. On both occasions we found the staff to be friendly & helpful, and it was no problem for them to provide gluten-free options for my wife. The food was not only scrumptious, but also very well presented and good value for money.
