Angels Southsea in Portsmouth

Visited this pub and stayed about 2 years ago, lovely rooms, great pub, cosy & inviting, great atmosphere and food. Visited pub this Easter weekend, well I was shocked! I assume changed hands as now run down and empty considering 8.30pm on Saturday evening. Not sure what it's meant to be but certainly didn't feel like a pub, more like a cross between a village hall and an Indian restaurant when you look at furniture. Place full of tables set for diners with mismatch metal chairs garden furniture and high back chairs from a restaurant, no comfortable sitting at all. Felt awkward sitting there for the 1 drink we had and they were already clearing bar to close for the night. Cold and clinical lighting and I won't mention the toilets! Disappointed visit and sad that the pub has lost its charm. Won't be visiting again plenty of other lovely pubs just a few 100 yards away.

Only went for drinks, so I can't comment on food. Took a while to get a drink, but staff were friendly, quite noisy, but we had a decent time, we didn't have to queue for too long.

Wow!! what a fab venue! we had a table booked 1-3. we walked in (just 2 of us) and the place was empty!! Prima told us no one else had bookings till 3! but herself and fabio looked after us so well! They kept the drinks flowing the food was delicious! got to just past 3 and we moved to a different table and stayed for a bit longer. live music statyed at 3330ish and was such a good vibe!! amazing service, amazing drinks and amazing food!! thank you so much.. we will be back xx

REFRESHING LOOKING ACROSS THE OCEAN..BATHED IN THE WARMTH OF THE SUN.. AZURE BLUE SKIES AND FRESH AIR ABOVE..

Nice place to go, a little expensive but then where isn't these days ? Worthy of a visit for sure.
