We had a great meal here ,as a couple, a few weeks ago and recommended it to our relatives, fast forward to the to my mum’s 84th birthday yesterday and 8 of us visited and were not disappointed! The food was delicious and the staff were lovely (the lady we settled the bill with even said that if she’d known it was a birthday meal she would have put up a banner!) I can’t recommend this place enough! Well done the Andel!

We stayed here on Saturday 18th February. The staff were above and beyond helpful and polite. The accommodation is clean and full of character and it's 3 acres of land is a real British garden with views of horses paddocks and the Norfolk fens. we're looking forward to returning later in the year and seeing the gardens in bloom!

First visit to this lovely place. Very welcoming on arrival. Such a warm and homely place. Had the Sunday roast but as I don’t like the meats that were on offer, the chef very kindly cooked a chicken breast for me and my mother and was not disappointed. The food was great and the service was impeccable and the staff were so very friendly. We will definitely be going back to this restaurant.

A romantic weekend break away. Beautiful garden. Amazing room with spa bath and the views from the bedroom of the deers in the fields surrounding the hotel was an added bonus. Evening meal was steak cooked just how we wanted and couldn't fault it. The young gentleman who took care of us, I think his name was Ronnie was lovely. Breakfast was great and even had smoked salmon. Will definitely be back

Great stay arrived on Saturday morning we asked if we could park the cars which was fine and caught a 20 min bus into King's lynn. When we got back to hotel had a beer which did not taste right, but issue was solved quickly and got a new pint very quickly with very little fuss. Steak in evening was spot on along with the other 5 dishes also the starter pate impressed as sometimes you don't get enough toasted bread etc with the pate but this time was more than enough. Nice family rooms with verandas outside with there own tables for each room a bit like U.S Motel set up with parking for vehicles outside rooms. Rooms in main building also roomy with baths and showers. Nice and friendly staff breakfast was also good nice beer garden and looks to be a good wedding venue also. Will visit again

We used this restaurant three times for evening meals and for daily breakfasts during a recent stay there. The dishes we had, especially the soups, the salmon and prawn salad and the plaice, were excellent in quality and quantity. We can also recommend the breakfasts if you are staying at the Andel Lodge; the proprietress was unfailingly obliging and friendly and the breakfasts were very good, though a little limited in choice. There were no vegetarian options, though meat could be replaced by an extra egg; natural yogurt, tomato juice and a wider range of boxed cereals could be added to the breakfast menu. It was apparent that experienced wait staff are hard to find currently, as our dinners were served to us by different young people on each evening, though each one had obviously been well trained in how to take orders, deliver wine etc. Venues for evening meals in this district were very limited, but we found that dining at the Andel Lodge was a pleasure on each occasion.

We wanted somewhere for a Roast Sunday lunch - and spotted this hotel/restaurant. Fairly quiet - and service was a bit slow. But this was more than offset by the quality, and quantity, of the meal. My wife had the beef - which she enjoyed - while I had the lamb (well worth the £2 extra) - which was lovely. Recommended.

Unfortunately we invited the family to Christmas lunch with us. We had my grandson who is 12 with us. He asked if the Yorkshire puddings had been cooked on the sun. They were black as were some of the baked potatoes. Obviously been waiting in the oven for hours. Our main meal didn’t arrive until almost 3pm. The beef was advertised as rib which it most certainly wasn’t. Hard to tell as the slice was so small. There were three waitresses to serve in the region of 60 people. Never again.

Have passed the Andel Lodge many times and each time commenting that we must give this a try! Let down at Arbuckles, we tried our luck and they were able to feed us! Nice friendly atmosphere, and nice restaurant, but we Elle Ted to eat in the bar. Food excellent and good prices. Varied menu and was able to satisfy all our pallets. ...only negative that stopped me giving 5 star was the fact that service was slow. There was only one person in the bar area, serving drinks and taking orders and whilst really friendly the delays were inevitable as she could only be in one place at a time. That being said the quality of the food was worth the slight wait. We are looking forward to going back.....would be nice if they had an extra pair of hands.

Our family of 6 had our Christmas lunch this year at Anvil Lodge. So very disappointing. We were all crammed in , no space, and the service was appalling. Waited so long between courses. We attended for a group lunch. Two people to serve 40. One behind bar in lounge serving also in function room. Slow unsure service and expensive for some. Food received and was ok but some experienced a long delay and one gluten free meal had terrible gravy. With only two serving the food it took a long time and was not a controlled event. This was far from what had been a good previous experience. We will not go again.

We spent time here recently in one of the cabins attached to the main building with our dogs. The room was clean but tiny and dark and the bathroom smelt musty. It was badly in need of an update I can’t imagine when it was last done. The beds were uncomfortable. The road was noisy constant traffic including lorries which kept is awake most of the night. It was good to have a small grassy area at the back to take our dogs for a wee. Lots of tea coffee and toiletries provided which was nice and most of the staff were very friendly. Due to my husband being taken ill we had to stay an extra night, we were charged over £90 for this which I thought expensive compared to what we had paid for the rest of our stay. Whilst packing to leave one of the dogs pushed a biscuit under the bed. I put my hand under to get it but couldn’t reach it so I got a wire coat hanger from the cupboard to get it out. I was shocked to see an unwrapped razor blade appearing. Luckily I hadn’t sliced my fingers. I took it to the reception when I checked out and gave it to the man there. He just looked at it and mumbled something about workman. I didn’t get an apology or a show of any concern. I felt he was very rude. We were not happy with our accommodation and won’t be going back.

Stayed at the Andel Lodge while attending a motor racing event at the nearby Adrian Flux Arena. Overall the room was nice. A little musty but that soon aired out. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in. On the down side for a family room the bathroom was lacking. There was no anti-slip mat on the gloss tiled floor which for kids is not good. Also the hot water was very very hot from the tap. You will not find four star facilities or decor at the Lodge but you will find a warm welcome and a comfy bed.

The sat evening was the main event as they had originally had their wedding here they decided to go back and celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary their too. Had a wonderful 3 course dinner, food was Devine. The waiting staff were spot on. Very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. My son arrived late as he was working but they held his food back for him and he had it when he arrived. We then went back and joined our family for breakfast the next morning and once again this was fab. Gorgeous fresh cooked breakfast with a few fussy ones changing things but again they were happy to do this. My brother had a room which accommodated their dogs for the weekend too. Very enjoying weekend had by my parents and we all left very happy and fulfilled. Thank you to Tina and her crew. P.s your roast beef was to die for.

My partner and I visited this hotel while on training in Queen Elizabeth hospital. Our room was decorated nicely and the bath was a corner bath/jacuzzi which was a pleasant surprise. After having an unfortunate car accident during the day causing my partner to be injured, we came back to the hotel to find the bar full of merry men, due to this we explained to the hotel staff what had happened to my partner and that we did not feel up to sitting with a group of relatively loud merry men near the bar to have dinner, so would it be possible to have dinner in the room? The reply we got was " well I shouldn't allow you to, but you can as long as you don't order anything messy off the menu" (we felt like children!) We both ordered burger and chips as we couldn't think of anything 'cleaner' and thanked them for the allowance to dine in the room. A member of staff later apologised and said she should have allowed us to have had anything we wanted from the menu.We left the following morning, breakfast was not too bad (eggs was a bit watery and undercooked). Overall, however staff was very polite and did acknowledge that they had been a little too strict about eating in our room, as it was under extremely exceptional circumstances, not just a request through preference. We would visit this hotel/Lodge again if we were to visit Kings Lynn again as overall the room was very nice, staff were polite and it is good value for money.

This hotel is on the A10 just south of Kings Lynn. On arrival, we were very impressed by the bar area and dining room which were beautifully appointed and tastefully decorated.I have no idea what the rooms were like in the main building as these were all taken and we were given a chalet room out the back - a bit like an American motel room only much smaller. Our first impression was that the room was, like the main building, beautifully decorated. However, this soon proved to be wrong. The first thing we noticed was the smell. The whole place smelled dirty. The sheets appeared to be clean but when you smelled them, there was a stale, dirty, musty smell. It was the same with the towels. I don't know the reason for this, maybe everything is washed on a warm instead of hot wash or maybe the carpet needed cleaning.A lot of the surfaces in the room had a layer of dust and the horizontal parts of the front door and bathroom door mouldings were thick with dust, obviously hadn't been cleaned for many weeks. On first examination, the bathroom looked very nice - until we went to use the shower. The grouting on the tiles was black with mould in several paces, the shower was ancient and the shower tray had a large crack. There was very little space in the bathroom to put anything down and there were no hooks on which to hang clothes.I can't fault the friendliness of the staff or the breakfast which was excellent. In conclusion, I have to say that, in view of the poor state of the room, the price of £79-50 per night was extortionate.

We arrive early as surprise guests for our friend's 60th Birthday. We had a very warm welcome and were shown to the bar area in order to have a drink. Pleasant conversation whilst our drinks were being prepared and served. When our friends arrived, we were shown into the garden where we could have drinks whilst choosing our menus. The table was beautifully prepared (although not sure about the plastic diamante covered base plates). The young waitress that served us was very pleasant and efficient. As the starter, I had the Leek & Potato soup which was really delicious. For main course, my wife an I had the Smokey Mountain chicken. This was piping hot and delicious apart from there was too much BBQ sauce which tended to overpower the chicken. A nice touch was that we were served a sorbet after the starter in order to refresh the palate. Did not bother with a sweet but had freshly brewed coffee and after dinner mint. The only downside was the length of time from start to finish. We were a party of 9 but there was no one else in the restaurant. From serving the starter to finishing our coffee, the total time was 2 hours 10 minutes.

Horrendous! The food was medioca!!Firstly the place has so many doors to enter through it's ridiculous! The reception was nice and attentive but the building was so old and creaky it let it all go out the window. There was only a small handful of people in the restaurant which was dark and dingy and looked like a physics den! The tables were nicely laid out but this didn't compensate for the food. The menu was plain and safe. I ordered the lamb shank in mint gravy and my husband ordered fish and chips. We were the first to order and we got served after all over tables! No idea why it took so long as we ordered nothing extravagant! While we waited with rumbling bellies flies dive bombed our table. There was no apologies for the hour wait for our foot. The floorboards couldn't handle the stomping of the receptionist and made for a rocky sitting. The kitchen door was wide open and you could hear all the noise. Eventually, half an hour into our sitting the music was put on. That didn't make much different!!HORRENDOUS!!Never recommend!!!!

my daughter, son in law, grandson and i decided to have christmas lunch at this local small hotel.. we had pre picked our menu. on arrival we had champagne and canapes. we were then shown our places in the dining room. the tables were beautifully dressed and had the usual party poppers etc. food was excellant, served at the right speed and effientcey by the friendly staff. to say all the tables were full the staff did a great job and nothing was too much trouble. congratulations to the chef and kitchen staff and also the hosts. would give this full marks in every aspect and will visiting again. thank you to all who helped to make our christmas lunch a great experience.

Not it's normal standard. This is the second time the chips were not great. The tea was poor and the cup was only just over half full. Two portions of chips and two teas just shy of a tenner.

Whilst staying in Thornham we popped in for coffee and cake. We opted for scones with cream and jam. Lovely little venue and friendly service.

Wimpy Restaurant

Very very slow and got the order wrong! It’s now been 15 minutes and no kids dessert! We have been coming to wimpy for over 40 years and this was by far the worst experience.
