Anchor Chippy in East Lindsey

Over cooked meat pie which was a cheap pie full of crunchy gristle plus a overcooked fish cake that was burnt hard underneath , overcooked fish that was dry and very dry chips, tasteless curry sauce but on the plus side the peas were below average Even our dogs would not eat it so it was binned and we went somewhere else and spent another £20 but at least the second meal was not discussing

Beautiful chips, I did have one complaint where I found a long hair in my chips but that was soon rectified and they changed my chips with no problem at all. Went to Carousel chippy below and the chips were very white and dirty cooking oil. I definitely would use Anchor Chippy again. Just one thing puts me off, I hate cheese and I can’t stand to be near anyone with cheese or even smell the cheese, when I’ve seen someone with pizzas I haven’t been in. Soon as cheese has gone I will go in.

We ordered the £29.99 fish and chip meal for a family of 4. The lady serving told us, we'd have to wait for "fresh" fish and the chips as there was none ready. Absolutely no problem with that at all, would rather have freshly cooked fish and chips every time. Most, if not all of it went in the bin. Never a good sign when a chippy does burgers, kebabs, pizzas, chicken nuggets etc. Should have known better to be honest. Plus point, the lady serving was extremely polite. Awful

Excellent food and service! We went to the chippy a couple of days and then this morning we have had breakfast in the cafe area. Chip shop food was fresh, hot and tasty. Cafe this morning was delicious. Great portions and excellent prices. It’s a hidden gem!

Staff are exceptionally rude , they got our order wrong , we didn’t once complain we simply went inside to query the price as it came up a bit steep and one staff member in particular was shouting and swearing at us. We have a disabled child in our family who was left feeling anxious and filled with fear. Passers by and witnesses came up to us and agreed we were never rude and never used foul language towards the staff. Sort it out. Oh and let’s not forget the threats of violence towards us.

Food was ok, would go again. Could've maybe done with bit longer in the fryer for the chips. Nothing special but nothing bad either.

Went here to get my tea, i got a pie and chips. Very disappointed the pie was very dry the lid of the pie was brown and burnt as if it had been sitting for a few days. It went in the bin i couldn't eat it. Think one member of staff very rude and miserable wouldn't recommend it at all, i wouldn't go back there.

Called here for lunch very extensive menu and lots of different meal deals at very reasonable prices, decided to go for the 12inch peri peri chicken pizza was absolutely loaded with toppings peppers onions mushrooms and cheese and came with a free 9inch margherita,I have to say it's the best takeaway pizza I've had in the UK. The place was spotlessly clean with very friendly helpful staff. We sat outside as the restaurant was closed but was a lovely day so we didnt mind. Would definitely recommend

Just had the best Fish and chips in my life. Fish amazing taste, melting in my mouth and chips the most fresh chips I have ever tasted. Recommend to everyone 👍🏼 👌 😀

a better menu than the stuff on offer from the nearby pubs and well worth trying. sadly the restaraunt is still closed ( because of covid ruling and the fact that the chippy is just as busy) there's seating outside where you can enjoy your meals as we did. food was fresh, cooked to perfecton and very tasty. My wife commented on how great the fish was, but the pile of chips proved to be too much for her. Large portions from friendly and approachable staff. Give it a go - you won't be disappointed

We visited as a family of 4 adults and 1 child and had a family set menu of 2 large fish 2 small fish 2 x chips and 2x sides. Having this as a menu option made ordering really simple and meant we could swap and share. All covid restrictions adhered to. Everything was spotlessly clean (we ate at the benches outside which are shielded from the road by glass partitions so we felt secure with a little one) The staff were really friendly and importantly the food was delicious and piping hot. Highly recommend this lovely fish shop.

Superb chippy in Ingoldmells, had to go back twice whilst staying over for a couple of days in the area. Very friendly and helpful staff, the food was excellent. Highly recommended!

Went for lunch on visit to coast.All covid rules adhered to,good safe system in place.Exceptional food We had large fish and chips and peas ,freshly cooked and piping hot.Proper mushy peas too .Prices were also really reasonable.Definatly use again and recommend.

Pale, tasteless chips and fish that had been kept warm too long. It was the chippy of choice last year but we won't be returning

Got a farmers breakfast from here and while I was eating noticed there was a dead fly in my food, the woman was very rude and told me it must have happened while I was eating. How can a fly die straight away if it landed while I was eating? It would have flew off. Made me look a liar and will never be returning to here, no customer service basically blamed it all on me and told me I wouldn’t be getting my money back. DISGUSTING !!!

Been and had food here at the restaurant had a curry ,mixed grill ,steak and roast and everything was beautifully homemade food best we have had all week I would recommend coming to this restaurant the staff are all lovely and friendly

Certain staff members are very rude certain woman working there with black hair is very disrespectful and very impolite snaps quite a lot when you are trying to decide what you want will never be going back again would not recommend to anyone

Served by colleen and mandy, 2 very friendly ladies, they brought all our food out together so no one was left waiting, it was all delicious, brilliant place!

Went back and had a really nice fish and chip meal - would have to rate it 10 out of 10. Nice to se it's back to it's best

the place is clean and tidy, the staff are always happy to help i was served by a man called nav and his female co-worker both very friendly and i will use again the food for value is really good.

Our fish and chips were cooked while we waited. They were lovely and hot the batter was nice and crisp too. The member of staff was very friendly and cheerful. We enjoyed our fish and chip supper.

Last night 23rd June had fish and chips twice what beautiful fish cooked while waited so was fresh best fish tasted in a long while chips were just great brilliant food at good prices be going back!!!!!

Had fish and chips last night( 13th June) and it was the worst I have had in a long time. Chips were soggy and the fish had hard batter and not much fish which was more like fish mush. Had some 4 weeks ago and it was lovely so something is wrong. Friends said they had the same experience 2 weeks ago, their word was crap. Pity as it was one of the best

On a day trip to Ingoldmells we came across a lovely fish and chip restaurant. The food was freshly cooked, the fish and batter was delicious, and the curry sauce was the best we've had in a long time.

Me and my family came to Skegness for a holiday and came across this superb chip shop, the portion size is very good and prices are great. The staff seemed happy and were full of smiles for all the customers, they were really helpful. The next time we are in Skegness we will definitely be coming back. I will be telling all my friends and family if they are in the area to make sure they get their fish and chips from here.

Rubbish. Went to the chip shop today. ( anchor chippy, Ingoldmells). I was asked to wait while my fresh cod was cooked. Waited about 15 min. Then I took food back to caravan. I ordered 3 sausages and fish cake. 2 bags of chips and 1 peas 2 curry sauces and 2 large freshly cooked cod. Lol. When I opened bags. I got 2 pots of gravy 1 peas. 3 sausages that looked like rubber, fish cake 2 bags of chips, and 2 fish that had been warmed up from earlier in the day. They had hardly any fish in them and surrounded by burnt batter. And if they was large and fresh I would eat my hat. Lol probably would have filled me up more. Lol worst fish and. Chips I’ve ever had. Never go there again.

After visiting the all year market on Anchor Lane/Fantasy Island we ordered fresh fish & chips to take back to our holiday home, beautiful, freshly cooked whilst I waited, rally enjoyed them.

We just happened to pop in on our way home & its very good service & fast & the menu is very good with specials & kids meals.

called for a takeaway for 8 people . Fish , chips , burgers , pizza all the usual . Order came to £30 plus . Waited for it to be ready for nearly 30 minutes which is ok if being cooked fresh . When ready the server wrapped it all and put it on the counter and said to my wife who went in for it , the bags are there and went off to chat with the other 3 servers who were doing nothing because they was no other customers . I,m disabled and was outside in a wheelchair with my 16 year old son , when we saw what happened my son went in to help his mum bag it all up (4 bags full ) , the server then came over to ask my son what he wanted to order thinking he was a new customer , when he said he had come in to help his mum the server said ok and went back to chat with his mates . The food was nice pity about the ignorant staff . Wont be using again .

Massive piece of cod fried nice crispy natter chips really nice to and then the price for what we had about 6.30 ish back home would had paid near on 9 pound because the fish was so big it was like 2 pieces of cod at home.broke it in 2 pieces had so much could not eat it all yummy meal

Used this "Chippy" for some time now. It used to be so good. It has become a victim of modern society in as much as cheap anmd cheerfu;l will be accepoted by anyone. Not with me, will give this place a wide berth from here on in. Such a shame.

Very good fish although you have to wait for it to be cooked, thats the only down size, but well worth the wait if you have time

Called in for tea, had one lot of fish and chips to share got loads enough for two people to share. Fast service, reasonably priced and nice tasty hot food.

We stopped here when we were at the coast visiting family for the day. The takeaway is very clean and the portion sizes were very generous for what we paid. Great service from the friendly team.

Appalling customer service. I doubt our server could crack a smile if she found out she had won the lottery. Add to that extortionate prices for tiny portions. Save your money guys

6 went here for a good breakfast & that's what we got. friendly staff and a heap of food I went for the farmers breakfast & took some eating but soon cleared the plate and left full & happy.very clean inside toilets available along with a good appearance out front showing pics & great prices.i will be back

The food quality and portions served here are excellent.. My only complaint was that the size of the over spilling fish on the tray etc needed the larger sized boxes that are now available, hence saving some of this delicious food hitting the floor.

Service was great and the staff were very friendly. Food was lovely and at a fair price. Great choice for kids meals and also some mini meals for adults (like mini fish & chips) Very pleased and would visit again for great fish & chips.

I'm not writing a review of the food because I didn't bother but after queuing for 10 minutes due to a large order in front I was told that I cannot order kebab from that and must join another crowd waiting for pizzas & kebabs in the other section of the shop even though it's advertised on a flashing neon sign in the window. Well we walked away and had a lovely Chinese from the entrance to coastfields instead. Absolutely unacceptable to walk in and no sign telling you to go next door for certain items even though it appears all as one !

Popped in and sat down on Friday 28th October 2016 and ordered 2 fish and chips twice and my son wanted sausage special with peas, we sat and ate at a table inside the chippy, the fish was lovely and I couldnt eat it all as it was like 2 large pieces. very good

We called in the fish shop tonight and wanted kebab and large chips which we tried to order but no one was there we asked and the guy shouted (merlin)through to serve us but was having a cigarette. Merlin came straight through from the back door and took his coat off and took our order without washing his hands or wearing gloves. I consider this as contamination. I went out side and asked the person in charge for a min. Where I explained what had happened. And he said he would speak to merlin. No exchange was offered. When we walked home we found that tho large chips was no more than I children's portion and the kebab was cold and not nice. I am a local that has used this place many times. But would I come back in a hurry I'm not so sure not on what I have seen tonight.

Staff make you feel really welcome.Go for breakfast at the cafe and try the farmers breakfast its awsome and great value for money.The pizza shop is great , but the chip shop side is out of this world served by Aueisha,Michelle and cooked fresh by Gareth . A big thank you to you guys and all the other staff for making our week .

We've visited the Anchor cafe for the last few years while on holiday, mainly for breakfast but we've also had a afternoon meal and a takeaway from the cafe and we've never had any problems with the quality of the food, the staff are always friendly and there to help. The breakfasts are always beautiful and it's always value for money, we will definitely return to the cafe next year.

We visited the sit down cafe part of this chippy most nights and a couple of mornings for breakfast.We were travelling with family,9 of us at times. The staff were fantastic, friendly and welcoming which made us feel very relaxed whilst we were there.Food was very reasonably priced and all good home cooked style meals and breakfast was great too!All in all a fantastic family friendly place to eat!

Fantastic cafe/restaurant at the side of the chippy, proper home cooked meals at fantastic prices, very friendly staff and very clean place, a Deffo place not to be passed by, you will not be disappointed .

If you're down the bottom end of Ingoldmells, you can't go wrong here. Great fishcakes, sausages and chips to be had, and the curry sauce is nice and strong. Only downside is the chips are expensive for the portion size, you don't get enough in my opinion.

Rank food. Wouldnt eat again. Was recomended this by a friend. Expensive but you dont mind paying for decent quality food. This wasnt good. Fish was terrible, and my sons pizza came out of a fridge ready made and rather flat as they were all stacked on top of each other. Staff were so-so and didnt seem interested in the job in the slightest.

food has gone down hill in past few years used to be one of the best chippies but now the food is standard and prices are ok but can find cheaper and better

Went in last night , Donna kebab, ham & pineaple pizza.opened 5 minutes later looking forward to my food , what a disappointment I opened my Hawaiian pizza looked lovely but really had no taste more taste out of a cup of flour as some 1 who works on the the food industry I would not of served the food I received I would not give to a dog totally inedible , the kebab was just a ball of grease with watered down sauces , went next night to complain and told guy who served me ( daft ear ring in left ear ) who couldn't give a toss, said your not bothered are you and he said not in slightest , avoid spending your hard earned money at this place

went for a quick bite before going for a couple of drinks, food piping hot, fresh and the bloke serving was very nice and polite too! :) would recommend.

We've come every year in August for 3 year and last year got our own van this is the only chippy we visit and have always loved it, the food is great, the staff are a laugh and always joke with them about things was kind of sad this week when I got my bbq chicken to bite it and ip my mouth be on fire when I asked the next day was told the chicken had been changed and it keeps change would be better if you have a choice of spice or normal chicken as I ended up wasting half a pizza hope you have something sorted by August would love to have my bbq chicken pizza again

Ok, as the title says I will try to make order of their system. Seperate to it I believe is their restaurant, but attached to the building. In the take away section it is 'partitioned' between the fish and chip and pizza/kebab area.First time I called in I ordered chicken curry and chips and my dad a fish and chips. The (indian style) chicken curry was good but microwaved on request. The fish to order was swimming in oil. The second time my dad wanted a kebab and I wanted SFC and chips. Seperate ordering points (SFC at the fish area) - ok untill I asked for chilli or garlic mayonnaise. "We dont do that, that area will sell it". At 60p per pot I could have purchased bottles of them elsewhere for £1 each and used about 2-3% each. When eating in the caravan the SFC seemed overcooked dry and tough ish to chewy.The only reason this gets a 2 star is the quality of the chicken curry JUST nudges it over the line.

Just been to the chippy which is very good, asked for a large fish on its own yo be told I can't buy one. Apparently it's a Lincolnshire thing. What a load of crap, everwhere else does it, why not you. Very dissatisfied as we've been using yourselves for the last 18 + years, for this reason I will be going else where.

I love this chip shop!The staff are always really friendly, helpful and kind, and the service from them is second to none.The chips here, in my opinion, are the best in Skegness and Ingoldmells.I have tried other places, but they just cant compare to this place.They are even open on Sundays, when many chippies aren't.They have a small seating area inside, and some picnic style benches for you to enjoy your food on outside too.Love this chip shop, and we always pop in for our compulsory seaside mini fish and chips whenever we are there!Give it a try! :)

The food is good the staff are very friendly and they are open late in main season. It can be a bit busy when the pubs close

After finding this little chippy whilst on a wknd break omg excellent beyond words never enjoyed fish and chips so much friendly staff . I would drive their just to have thm and come home again theyre so nice perfect fish batter an orchestra in your mouth delightful . Keep it up im so coming back next yr for sure if i dont do a random rd trip first you have 10 stars from me guys thankyou

Mmmm. How to review this place? It was a late Friday afternoon and it was absolutely hammering it down with rain. A day at the seaside always equals a portion of Fish and Chips for those of us making a special effort to visit the coast but we wanted a sit down meal due to the weather. This place does "sit down" so we wandered in and sat at a table and perused the menu. The restaurant area can probably seat about 25-30 at any one time (although that might be a bit tight) but there were only two others in there when we sat down. Having decided what we wanted, we went to the counter and waited to be served. A woman appeared and she was talking to someone behind her as she approached. She was swearing and calling her colleagues names as she came to the counter, loud enough for everyone to hear. As she was doing this she threw a menu across the counter at us (presumably for us to make our dinner choices). To say I was surprised at this welcome would be an understatement but, given the inclement weather, we continued to ask for what we wanted and returned to our table (with me muttering that they didn't desrve our custom or our money).One good thing about the restaurant side is that they serve alcohol (beer, wine, etc) so, if you want an alcoholic drink to accompany your meal you can have one. So we did. Something else that was unexpected was the speed of food service. I had not made the connection between the restaurant and the chippy (they are separated by the Pizza and Kebab area) but it's obvious (with hindsight) that if you order fish and chips, they take it from the chippy and serve it to you straight away - a pleasant surprise.When being served, by the same woman who greeted us at the counter, she noticed that her colleague had underfilled the pots of curry. She called him over, berated him in front of us (good naturedly this time) and sent him off for another, free, pot to make up for underfilling the original two. Well done.As for the food, well, it couldn't be faulted. Three cod and chips, one mini fish meal, three curry sauces (in the end) and three mushy peas. All of it was fresh and hot and it all tasted great. The fish, especially, was worthy of note (on the big cods) although the mini cod suffered from too much batter and not enough fish. Four meals and four drinks (one soft, one hot and two beers) for a total of (iirc) £31.00. Not bad, I suppose.So, in summary - great food despite a poor welcome and first impression somewhat remedied by the identification of a short measure. As I said - a mixed bag.

We eventually found somewhere we could get a hot cup of coffee here, but, although it WAS hot it tasted bland. They must use the cheapest coffee on the market, or perhaps it wasn't really coffee, it certainly didn't taste like coffee. We had to wait until we got home to have a proper cup of good coffee!

I Visited here last week whilst on a static van holiday, the food and service was wonderful. best fish and chips in skegness! Good value for money. Thoroughly enjoyed my time in skegness.
