The Cornhill Cafe in East Lindsey

Went here with my best friend for breakfast last minute before visiting Gunby Hall, Nov 13th 2024, wish we hadnt bothered, the service was poor, both staff on the day (think it was mother and daughter) were very unfriendly, no friendly chit chat, the place was cold, no music and the ambience was non - existent. and to top it all the food was very mediocre, the only saving grace was that a small breakfast only cost us £4.50, but needless to say we will not be returning To be honest the whole place could do with a complete refurbishment, looked very shabby and uncared for

Good food & service. The building was cold and could do with a slightly warmer dining area.

A locals cafe where you get a meal and a cuppa for next to nothing. We had breakfast here. Well, you can't expect butchers Lincolnshire sausages for the price. But generally, a good breakfast.

Had a burger this evening at Spilsby Bike Night - I wish I hadn't - Pre cooked and then reheated and squashed on a gas hot plate. The burger was very powdery and pink in the middle. If I wasn't at the other end of the high street, I would've taken it back. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I should have realised as it was the only food stand that I'd seen with no queue

The Cornhill Cafe provides meal deliveries to housebound customers. Variety of dishes, home cooked with fresh vegetables. Delicious puddings. Served with genuine care and cheer!

Pub we stayed in was barren of staff for breakfast so we called in here. Food was delicious and delivered quickly. If we end up living here this will be our local. Friendly staff and lush food. Xx

Would not recommend. I ate from here this morning and iv now got food poisoning. NOT IMPRESSED as this is the first time dining here. Would not go again

The Cornhill Cafe Sick to my stomach. Have came here a few times mostly for a cappuccino and sometimes a bite to eat. The food never has been much to write home about but after trying a few things that were not great I then mostly opted for some toast while hubby went to the auction as it was somewhere to sit and read the Paper .. However... the 70ish yr old Male (whom is the owner but says it’s his wife for (coughs) unknown reasons) was on this occasion sitting on the table near me.. hands down his pants scratching away, . (yuk) and the smell was not good…now you would think that was the reason why I would never ever go here again. But NO.. this person then gets up off the table. Walks behind the counter and with his unwashed hands (I’m trying not to vomit) starts buttering toast and touching literally everything behind the counter.!! I had on this occasion ordered 2 large breakfasts and my normal toast ..as my son was with me and hubby was going to be getting there at any moment, but as soon as I saw this I left the whole lot and walked out.!! This man is very loud and intimidating and loves to mouth of at people as I have seen many times (see his response on some of the bad reviews) and I had my autistic child with me who hates loud noises or people. Otherwise I would have called him out on his filth. But I know his daughter would have wondered why the whole 2 meals were left. These people do meals on wheels for the elderly.!! I’d sooner die of starvation than eat there ever again. I’m actually traumatised even thinking about it.

It looked ok from outside but when we got in, I almost walked out, now I really wish we had. The place is filthy, the floor has never been hoovered, dead flies on window ledge, and old food remnants on the table. Unfortunately I had to give one star, but would have liked it to have been lower. The Coffee (and I love coffee) was absolutely vile, it was cheap and tasted like burnt toffee, obviously had cheap chicory in it. We ordered bacon sandwiches and asked for the bacon to be well done, but she obviously forgot being so busy and we were the only people in there - that should have told us everything. Customer service is non existent after delivering our sandwiches we never saw anyone again so no option to complain, Never again. Would I recommend it - only to someone that I hated...

Filthy place Dead flies and mouse dropppings on floor! Eggs were like a frizzy Sausage not cooked Mushrooms raw! Black pudding uncooked! Never again

Stopped here on a bike ride and ordered two sausage rolls in buns, I thought Lincolnshire did great sausages but the ones in the rolls were awful and cheap, coffee tasted awful too, come on it’s not hard to use a quality sausage and make a decent coffee.

Great breakfast in a cozy cafe in a nice little town.

Called in and ordered a large full English breakfast. Have visited before and know it's good value for money. Today i ordered and after waiting 35 min I walked out. Anyone who ordered a butty got served, another man who ordered a breakfast was sat waiting as well. I didn't complain to the staff as it was obvious they were run off their feet with the boss sat in his car waiting for the waitress to fetch packages off the back seat. Suggest staffing levels are looked at.

Good value, no frills food in a friendly and clean cafe.

I ordered a big breakfast only for it to arrive cold/tepid the shouting from staff made the experience not great you would think that being in Lincolnshire you would have Lincolnshire sausage but no its Iceland budget and the black pudding was frozen in the middle. The food is not fit for dogs and if you value your stomach and dog then don't go here

Went in on a Tuesday and there were only a couple of tables taken. Ordered a cup of coffee and a regular breakfast. 2 sausages, 2 bacon, beans, toms, mushrooms and bread and butter. Could not even touch the coffee as after the first sip I realised it was the cheapest coffee I have ever tasted and there was a rainbow oil slick on top where the washing liquid had not been rinsed properly. It was awful. Then the breakfast, well being totally honest the sausages were not grilled but fried as the grease in them and that could not disguise that they were the cheapest sausages I had ever had. The bacon was fatty and tasteless the beans were cheap beans that were horrible to eat. If you charge a fiver for a breakfast at least serve good quality food, I’m not asking for the best but some level of descent would be nice. Genuinely a horrible experience that I will never subject myself or anyone I know in the future

Only had tea & toast, but as a restaurant cleaner, I could see the clinical conditions in the kitchen / the total lack of any after smells, the newish unchipped / unstained crockery, the clean cushioned chairs / windows / condiment nozzles... Would like to make it my regular, but am 10 miles away!

Lovely cafe with a lovely selection of food. Really enjoy popping in for a bite to eat or sitting OUTSIDE with my dogs as they provide fresh water for them which is a lovely touch. See you soon

A greasy spoon cafe basic and not up too much but has the cheek to say NO DOGS when good quality cafes in the village square are dog friendly.

we were house hunting in the area relocating from Essex and found this little Jem the place was lovely and clean food was excellent would recommend to any one visiting Spilsby we will be back

It very small and compact. Prices are a little on the high side. Not much other choice in Spilsby.

Value for money and friendly staff

Whilst touring the area we found this place and called every day for breakfast they do a fantastic veg breakfast, its family run the food, friendlyness and quality of service is a credit to them.

Called on for tea and toast. Polite welcome good tea and toast daily papers to read. Will be calling again when in the area.

Great portion sizes! Which is a plus when you like ya grub..like me. Welcoming and friendly service, great food and not at all expensive! Amazing value for money! They deliver over a 3mile radius too!

We went to Spilsby on Monday which is market day with a lively street auction. There is loads of choice when it comes to places to eat and after walking around we came upon this lovely little cafe. We had a tuna and mayo baked potato with salad and it was excellent value and of very good quality. Well done The Cornhill Cafe.

Convienent little cafe. Used a couple of times now. Nice seating area outdoors and they deliver too.

Nothing is too much trouble for these ladies, they trim my bacon, blow my coffee if it's too hot for me, provide and unfold the daily newspaper for customers and don't even charge for the food - best cafe ever, I wouldn't go anywhere else. Well done Cornhill, 10 stars out of 5

We arrived here just on closing time, which we were unaware of. The ladies were very friendly. Sandwiches were of a good standard, nice mug of tea. Good prices

I have only ever visited here for breakfast but have always found the staff polite, the food cooked well and tasty and a good selection available on the menu. The prices are very reasonable too. Only downside is that it is quite small so can get a bit crowded when busy.I would definitely recommend to anyone passing through Spilsby.

Stopped at this cafe on the way to Skegness. We all had breakfasts and the quality for the price is outstanding. Exactly what I was looking for from a classic cafe. Polite and friendly staff plus great food. Winner.

Who can argue with a plate full good quality, well cooked English breakfast for under £6? If you do, you've missed the point. The cafe is down to earth, and the service is good. If you're stupid enough to pay double or more for less in a more comfortable environment then this is not the place for you, you fools.

Nicely fitted café,great menu and prices,but isn't café food supposed to be fast? Waiting 10 minutes for coffee, and having finished it and had the mugs taken away 15 minutes before the food came isn't really the deal. They seem to have problems organising the service. For this reason,look a little further down the market place, there are a couple of other café premises that will serve you faster. Shame!

Good menu,food good, but oh,so slow! Place had organisational issues,last visit here took over an hour,waited for the coffee, it came,mugs went,so did 20 more minutes. Great when it came,but if you're in a hurry, got to recommend the other café premises in the market place.

Heard about the breakfasts here and they didn't disappoint. Great value and the thick cut bacon was amazing. Very friendly staff and lovely food.

Popular for all day breakfast, offered in three sizes and good value for money. Good selection of Paninis, sandwiches and jacket potatoes also available. Food cooked fresh to order and delivered piping hot. If you are looking for basic, reasonably priced food served in a friendly no frills setting, I can highly recommend.
