So sad.. this was our go to cafe 2 years ago.. a beautiful building and a buzzy atmosphere. Always full. Good coffee an array of home bakes (GF, you name it) and lovely lite bites. First day back in the island, we made a bee line but despite the lovely welcome and a good cup of coffee NO food other than a bowl of soup and a doughnut. The place was empty.

Gorgeous cakes but the coffees were on the small and strong side - although I am sure that flat white lovers would enjoy it (I’m just more of a latte fan). Lovely staff and a very nice venue.

This place is very much part of the local community and is very welcoming to visitors. Their soups at lunchtime are really good but make sure you're hungry if you ask for a large bowl--they really mean a LARGE bowl. Cakes and coffee also excellent. They often have good artists performing in the evening. If you're visiting Mull be sure to check what's happening at An Tobar and the Mull Theatre and book for an evening's entertainment.

It was very busy at lunch time, which is a good sign, and we struggled to get a table, but luckily a friendly local couple offered to let us share their table. The food is prepared to order, so don’t expect fast food service. Our soups and toasties were worth waiting for and very tasty.

After strolling around the Main Street of Tobermory and finding no where to take us and our dog we found this wee gem. It’s up the hill from the Main Street and defo worth a visit. We had a comfortable seating area suitable for us to spread out and plenty of room for our dog too. The light airy cafe space has a cosy feel to it. There’s plenty on the drinks menu and a couple of cake/tray baked. The Luna menu, alth small, looked lovely and the cafe smelt amazing (soup on the go). We settled for drinks and cakes, we also enjoyed looking at the free local info provided for some ideas of what to do next. It’s a lovely escape from the main area, defo worth a visit.

A wee bit difficult to find but worth the effort. While the menu was reduced on the day of our visit, it still contained good choices for lunch. I would love to have spent more time here. I enjoyed my coffee and cake and the fact that we were able to listen to a recording going on in one of the rooms nearby. Really attractive folk music. There are exhibitions about climate change and art work. This would have been somewhere I could easily have made a home and it felt like a place for islanders and visitors.

Looking around Tobermory, we saw a sign for a vegetarian cafe. Underneath it said "well worth the walk". Which intrigued us, so off we went, all six adults and kids, up a steep hill - a very steep hill! None of us are veggies, but we love interesting food and that is certainly what we got. The cafe is situated in an art gallery, and we lost no time in looking at the exhibitions, which were excellent. This passes the time while you wait for your food - not that we had to wait long mind you. Most of us ordered soup (there were two varieties and both were lovely though a special shout out for the sweet potato and coconut) and toasties - using locally sourced ingredients, my ham and cheese and onion toastie was awesome. My eldest ordered the sharing hummous platter which I thought was a bit punchily priced and actually not big enough to share - but this is the only criticism I have, the actual food was lovely, hummous in two varieties and clearly home made. The tea was loose leaf and delicious, and the lads loved their coffees. The cakes looked utterly delicious but we were saving ourselves for afternoon tea so we managed to resist. Lovely staff, amazing views, delicious food and dog friendly too!

As a vegetarian I was extremely pleased to discover this facility. I had three really good meals here during my one week stay in Tobermory. The food was excellent and much less expensive than the vegetarian options available down by the waterside. The Centre has a brilliant programme of live music and other events. I think that the centre should advertise themselves more in the village as they deserve more custom than they get.

Sadly our visit was marred by one of the staff who was very intolerant of my son who has an ASD diagnosis. Saw a really interesting exhibition here, and really loved the building, but found the staff to be oddly indifferent, if not plain rude. We can all have bad days, and there was a music festival going on with musicians running round trying to find space to rehearse, so maybe the staff were all a bit stressed. But I was a little irked by one woman who looked at me as if I was shoe dirt when she, rushing, nearly collided with me as I was leaving the narrow shop area, and then just stood there in my way, so I had to back up and let her through.

We thought it might be good to visit somewhere in Tobermory that was not on the harbour front. I am surprised at the glowing reviews because our experience was quite different. First we had to clear a table (8 other customers; two staff behind counter; they were not over-extended!). That is a big black mark as far as I am concerned. Then only half the order was brought; apparently the other half hadn't been clearly ordered! The selection of cakes etc was minimal. There were other untidy tables but the staff apparently were far too busy with conversation to tidy up. Could have been so much better but cannot recommend this supremely average establishment.

If you're looking for a cafe that's quiet and different to the usual tea room, with a good selection of herbal tea, I'd recommend the An Tobar Arts Centre.

Very jolly nice coffee and cakey things and free wifi and pleasant people behind the counter (ring the bell if no-one is there at first). Lots of nice artwork and gifts and other folky, community-based music and cultural Hebridean delights - you get the picture - great place...

After appalling service at Duck Bay we went here for lunch. Warmly welcomed. High chair for my grandson and the lovely waitress brought a bowl of water for the dog. Food was amazing and we were able to eat it indoors without being rained on because we had the dog (as happened at Duck Bay)! She also brought a treat for the dog. This place is fabulous and welcoming. Had a wonderful lunch and will definitely be back. 5 star service and food.

Seriously over rated & expensive. Stopped for a quick breakfast. Service was so slow that we'd finished a pot of tea by the time the food arrived. Ordered toast, avocado and poached eggs. Toast was cold, eggs cold and avocado had some sort of green sludge mixed through it with toasted oats and seeds on top. Not what was ordered. Not what was on the menu and I had specifically said I wanted something plain. Don't bother - it's not worth it!!
