I have been going to Ambika for years and found the owner quite friendly but since covid he's changed for the worse😠. I went to buy ladus and was told they were £14.99 a kilo! When I asked if they were fresh he got very defensive. I left empty handed and am not going back. Also they don't seem to be willing to help if asked about ingredients and put a lot of sugar in the foods. So haven't adapted for changes. A shame

Absolutely disgusting service. No respect when speaking to people. I would personally NOT serve Ambica sweets to god as too much negativity in shop and in business owners behaviour.

Excellent customer service, Excellent Sweets, snacks and meals. Just before lockdown I couldn’t purchase any Chappatti flour anywhere as all the shops had sold out the owner so kindly gave me some out of his own stock free of charge. That’s going that extra mile. Keep up the good work. Will definitely be seeing you soon.

Lousy service. Don't know how to talk to customers. Rude owner if ever there was one. Won't be getting my custom again. Pay full price and get cheap ingredients. They don't even use pure ghee. Was not willing to disclose ingredients even for allergy reasons! Very unprofessional! SHAME!! Service not even worth 1 star.

Honestly, one of the Greatest places in the whole of Leicester. I visit regularly and have been doing so for years. I have never not been so excited for food when served from Ambica's. Great place, definitely would recommend a visit!

Excellent shop for hand made mithai and farsaan, tasty veggie snacks including Bombay mix/faphra/samosa's/dhokra/pani puri etc and they now sell Thali, Vada pau etc, very tasty and great value for money. Pravinbahi is always very welcoming and friendly. Very generous as always offers you snacks to taste. The snacks are very tasty and as hand made (instead of machine produced) always have the home made quality about them. The marwa penda, faphra and Thali & Vada Pau are personal favourites. Definitely worth a visit. A gem on Belgrave road,

The food is fresh, and while the menu is not endless (as you might come across in other similar places), this does mean that all the things they serve are delicious. Saw some old negative reviews, but there must have been a change in management because no such worries in recent years. Would definitely recommend.

Very tasty food and excellent value for money. Incredibly helpful and patient while we decided from the wonderful array on offer what to choose. My friend and I had a Thali each which was plentiful and a selection of delicious sweets. Definitely will return. Thank you.

Amibica sell the best Mawa Peda in Leicester. I've been buying it for years and always get a good welcome and a bit of a chat with the owner. Customer service is always good.

I ordered small jalebis to give out to friends and family after my daughter had a baby. The manager/owner said they would cost £10 a kg even though they're normally £8 a kg; I agreed thinking maybe they need to do more work to make smaller ones. He also said the cost may be £1 or £2 over or under as the weight of the number of boxes ordered could end up slightly different. When I went to pick them up, he said that the cost was £10 more than what was agreed. When I questioned why it was so much more, he was very rude but I managed to get him to agree to £5 more. He asked if I wanted two more boxes that they had extra made and I told him that I had a list of people that I wanted to give them to so wouldn't need them. I later went back in case I needed any spare boxes but the manager was again very rude and said he didn't want to sell them to me anymore. I thought his attitude was completely unnecessary and tarnished a happy occasion. I would not go there again as it was a completely inappropriate way to treat a paying customer.

Stopped here to buy chocolate burfi, penda and jalebee. First of all, service was quite poor, I couldn't decide on quantities but rather than wait the owner tutted and walked off into the back, then returned to serve me (in hindsight I should've walked out then). When I returned home I found that the burfi was mouldy. Ended up throwing it all away as it was in the same box. Also, I politely declined a plastic bag (I like to help where I can) but one was forced upon me, reason being 'it wasn't nice to walk out holding a box'. More like he didn't want to advertise himself as selling mouldy sweets.

First time going here, bought a big bottle of fanta, tasted disgusting. Checked the bottle & it was almost 5 months out of date. Won’t be going here again.

We visited this place about two weeks ago. The place is nice and cozy with the food being just about the same as any other pub. No complaints there. We came with our car and parked at the parking facility given by Oadby. We spent about 45 mins there. And now we have received a Parking Charge notice stating that we are being fined on the grounds of 'Parked without registering vehicle at the bar or reception'. Now how is that normal? We used the parking facility just like the rest. There we no signs that said we were to do that. How is this even normal? We used Oadby's services so obviously we will use their available parking facility too. Just like any other parking facility that is provided by other pubs. No one asks to go register the car at the bar. Again, there was no such signs or boards mentioning this rule. We are now being fined a huge amount for something like this. Extremely disappointed and are caught off guard with this.
