Vegan menu with lots of choices, wow!

The soup is so nice here it's proper Chinese style soup not very busy and the service was fantastic they do japanese food too.

Me and my husband ate here on Saturday. My food turned up within 5 minutes. I ordered chicken. It was warm and I know it didn't have time to be reheated to the right temperature, never mind cool down that much. The rice was also just warm. I told one of the staff and he said it was meant to be that temperature. He touched the rice with his hand to test it. Not the right thing to do so I didn't eat the rice. I ate the warm re cooked chicken and left the rest. Please probe your food for the right temperature when re heating food. My husbands food came out as I'd finished and was hot ! We won't return.

What a shame, could and should have been excellent. The venue is lovely with seating nicely spaced apart. We were promptly seated and a short while later, our bottle of prosecco arrived well chilled. We looked through the menu and ordered. My wife ordered a chicken dish with rice and mango, and I ordered a kind of chow mein, but was spicy. First red flag was my wife's dish arriving in a VERY quick time frame, just a minute or two. Immediately checked the temperature of the chicken and the rice. Advised the staff of the issue and following an apology, took the plate back to the kitchen. The plate was returned advising the dish IS hot and that the sauce was the cold element. My wife outlined the issue regarding serving 'warm' rice and how it may be warm rather than hot - and the staff member felt the rice with his hand and claimed it was 'hot'. Feeling the issue was not 'getting through' - she deciding not to bother any further,.... ate the luke warm chicken only and left the rest of the dish. My meal arrived around 5 minutes later - admittedly mine was delicious. Normally we prefer to eat our meal together rather than separately so this was also far from acceptable. tasty food, rice not to temperature, chicken not to temperature, serving staff checking food with bare hands in front of you - simply not on. This NOT how a five star rated hygiene restaurant should operate. Will not be returning.

My husband and I visited for the first time today with our neighbours who recommended the restaurant and had eaten there many times The food was excellent great quality piping hot and very tasty There was a wait between courses but certainly worth waiting for Great value attentive service and will definitely be back

Very nice and polite service. Food was served fairly quick, portions were big. Had black pepper chicken udon noodles and braised pork in soy sauce- both very delicious!

The service is very good and the food is really hard to describe... I ordered spicy dandan noodles. Anyway, if you want to eat this type of noodles, don’t go there... As you ate, a shrimp shell appeared... The service attitude was very good, but what I ordered was really terrible..

The tall staff was rude. We went there during lunchtime and there were only 3 tables. But the tall waiter was rude and impatient. And he was not working at all. After having our food, we wanted to ask for the bill but that server totally ignored us. Really rude staff.

Gorgeous! Not only were we spoilt for choice and given very friendly service, they also cater to vegetarian choices and gluten free, making it easy to go no matter what dietary requirements our group has. We really enjoyed our meal and look forward to trying more.

Food was good and taste mostly familiar to me in its Southeast Asian character. The nasi lemak exuded clear coconut fragrance, with chickens crisply fried, yet not dry. The beehoon in the Singapore Hokkien Mee was flavoursome, with abundant fresh prawns. Portions were also generous. However, ingredients could be slightly more for the glass noodle dish. Service was rendered with smiles and pride. When we mentioned our Teh Tarik was missing its characteristic foam and was not hot, the glasses were whisked off and returned in a jiffy, super foamed and comfortably heated up. Definite winner. 👍🏼

I ordered food from here online and it was the worst takeaway food I've ever had. £18 for a small mixed starter that was flavourless and greasy. Chips were inedible and went straight in the bin. Don't waste your money!!

Have been here several times before and always good. Today my wife had house special curry which very good, nice sauce with plenty chicken, prawn and beef. Did have some odd looking slice in it. I had house special fried rice, it was very poor, no flavour, 3 pieces of beef, 2 prawns and 3 little bits of odd looking slice, pork they said when I asked. I make better at home. I raised issue when I got the bill, asked if he would reduce it or I wouldn't come back again, he suggested it was OK. I paid and left & won't return. Being ran by young staff, serving each other, feeding themselves in public. Not very professional. Not as good as it used to be. Very disappointed.

Very good. A family of 5, 5 meals, 5 drinks. The bill is 80.50. It's good. The taste is OK. The price is also good. The serving time is also quite fast. If I have a chance, I will come again next time.

Food was amazing and the portions were massive, right amount of spice and great taste but only thing is the service was slow and had to ask for everything especially when you are with kids.

We have just called in here and spoke to bar staff could we possibly have a table for 6, yes no problem so we went to the stairs and got stopped immediately and we said table for 6 No WE ARE TOO BUSY . The place was virtually empty , loads of tables . Yet we were told there was a table for us . This isn’t a one off this happened to us before we booked a table turned up and told no you haven’t got a booking even though we had confirmation. They treat people quite disgusting just because we were a group of six men same last time . Shocking nothing short of discrimination because we are a group of men Very unfriendly

Absolutely loved this place. Its one where you know you'll be coming back again well before you've even left the food was amazing and the staff where so nice I wanted to adopt half of them. The smiles and attentive nature seemed genuine and not fake or forced. Never had a problem getting any of there attentions and service if we needed anything. Toilets were clean and well presented. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant temperature was just right even though it was very hot outside. The cherry on the top for me was the drinks and menu. The menu had a lot of pictures of the meals and none alcoholic drinks which actually had me order something different outside my comfort zone. There were quite a few that I wanted to try so me and my partner tried a few. The fruit juices were fresh and the glasses were big. We both tried a sour plum and ribera crush. It was packed with flavour and to my surprise by the time you get to the end of your drink it wasn't really watered down with all the ice. When all the chineese restaurants are much the same the drinks for me make this stand out above the rest. A big thank you to Sky and the other servers for making our dining experience so enjoyable.

Great atmosphere and delicious meals. The duck rice and olive rice were packed with a lot of flavour. Drinks were absolutely refreshing and well presented.

We wanted to dine in but there was a really noisy baby with unbothered parents so we changed to takeaway. Beef tendon with rice is not recommended. It was cooked in correct sauce but the meat did not from the rough flank, there were huge chunks of strawy beef, and huge chunks of tendon. Mapo tofu is good, would recommend to those who prefer the variation of this dish which is not spicy but mildy numbing.

Best Malaysian restaurant in Newcastle! Their chicken rice, hotpot and Nasi Lemak is always my go to dish and you could not go wrong with that!

It’s my first time visiting this city and restaurant. I truly enjoy Chinese food and the visit to this place was totally worth it. Restaurant was very clean and tidy. Staff were helpful and kind, they checked if food was ok and if I needed anything. Food came pretty fast, portion was enough for the price paid and menu booklet was very thick! Plenty of options - a bit of Chinese, Malaysian, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, etc. Will definitely come here again whenever I visit Newcastle. Even the toilets were very clean and tidy and loved the Chinese songs in the background!

Absolutely appalling service at Amaysia. I’m genuinely surprised with the amount of good reviews this restaurant has. It’s such a shame because the food here is actually ok although we’ve had a fair few unhygienic moments from the food:/ (just shows we barely complain!) However the service and staff are a complete let down this time that I’ve had to leave a review. For my auntie’s 50th we booked the karaoke room downstairs from 2-5pm. It was actually okay up until the end when we were pretty much done cleaning up, one of the staff said we were past our booking slot (this was at 5:07pm) and we had to pay £50 baring in mind we weren’t let in the room until 2:05pm? Confetti’s not allowed in the room however one of the balloons(we weren’t aware it had confetti inside) accidentally popped. We made sure to clean this up properly yet we were still accused of spreading it to the toilet and apparently it was all over their downstairs. How can that even be possible from one balloon?! We apologised even though there wasn’t any confetti in sight and then one of the female members of staff proceeded to point out confetti here and there, even the stairs when it wasn’t even confetti just trash from other people!! Absolutely diabolical!! Actually crazy how you can treat your customers like that who actually treat your restaurant with respect. Even upon entering the room it wasn’t even the cleanest! There was food that had dried up and hardened on the seats yet we didn’t even complain, we wiped it up ourselves! The audacity to charge us for “making a mess” with confetti and being 7 mins past our booking (which technical we were not) is just truly shocking. This is the last straw and we are definitely never coming back. I also don’t recommend any of you to come here if you don’t want flies and strands of hair in your food :)

Brilliant restaurant located in china town in the centre of Newcastle. Very spacious place with plenty staff around for service. The food took longer than expected in parts, but was well worth the wait. Really enjoyed it! The drink was beautiful, couldn't fault any of it!

We visited this restaurant, due to good reviews on Trip Advisor. We had vegetable spring rolls, which were over cooked. We had chilli beef noodles and veg chow mein, which were incredibly greasy. I told them this, but it wasn’t really acknowledged. I wouldn’t visit here again.

The staff here were lovely, friendly and helpful. The food however was a let down, and possibly the most bland and tasteless meal I’ve had in a while. The best thing about the restaurant was the homemade lemonade, it was a minty, lemony freshness and simply delicious. Nothing else that I was served was in the same league as this. Starters were ok, a safe prawn toast and salt and pepper chicken wasn’t too bad, but again lacking in flavour. The mains were just disappointing. I has a beef dish that was greasy, congealed with sparse bits of stringy meat, and a tasteless brown gloop for a sauce. I had to hunt for the spring onions and there was little else in the dish apart from thick, soggy noodles. It was actually unpleasant even after I had tried to pep it up with a bit of soy sauce. Everyone else on the table seemed reasonably happy with their meals, so maybe I selected a poor choice, but I wouldn’t hurry back for food.

Order food from here at least twice a week, today, the order arrived 70 minutes later, the girl claiming to be the manager stating the food left straight away, which it didn’t deliveroo couldn’t allocate a driver, which I understand is not a restaurant issue. However, when there’s food missing it is a restaurant issue! If you want customer service avoid this place, so rude no manners or respect. Shame really as the food itself is good.

Even though I had a lot of problems with delivery, that caused me to wait for almost 4 hours. But it is definitely worth the wait! I am very impressed with everything, especially the portion, price, and flavours. It's definitely one of the best restaurants! I’m glad I have chosen to wait and get to enjoy the good quality of food. Highly recommend!

Works night out and first time here. We had pre-ordered so there wasn’t too long to wait for the food – I had the vegetable spring rolls (I think there were 8-10 on my plate) and then the Tofu in green pepper and black bean sauce – both were delicious. Overall positive recommendation from everyone – we will be back!

Very pricey and not so good food. Every plate is £12-13, small bowl of rice £4, a lemonade £4.80. Not big quantities neither. The waiter from Brunei was very nice. Will not recommend and will not come back. I have eaten better Chinese and less pricey.

Rude staff, no service at all and to top it off the food practically tastes like it was purchased from iceland….. would never go back. £70 for 2 people too. Didn’t even finish the mains felt immediately sick.

Food is good and the atmosphere is also nice and attractive. Staff is also good. But less attention to customers. Vegetarian food is not properly mentioned. But they have a seperate section for Vegetarian.

Great food and an exhaustive menu, you cannot not find something. I had the vegetarian mapo tofu with seafood fried rice, dumplings and a seafood soup.

Don’t even bother with this place. Tried to book for 7:30 and then received absolutely no confirmation of the book. So about 3 hours later we phoned and they told us they’re fully booked. We asked when they’d tell us this and they said at 7:30 in an email. Not even a sorry or any sort of apology. They probably wouldn’t even have told us at all if we hadn’t phoned. Their website said they had bookings. So at the time we wanted to eat, we may have been told we didn’t have a booking and they were fully booked. What a disgrace of a system. Shocking.

Decided to try this restaurant as our usual venue was undergoing a renovation. Pleased to say it did not disappoint. The service was quick and the food was very nice. We ordered a selection of dishes and boiled rice. Pleased to see we were given the option of chipsticks and bowls without having to ask - always a pet hate of mine being given a knife and fork in a Chinese restaurant!! Food is well cooked, well presented and portions are large. Will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone in the Chinatown are of Newcastle

Went with friends on 14.2.24. We are all vegans and loved it. Plenty choice and every dish was delicious! We’ll be back for more.

I've been wanting to try this place for ages. Today is my birthday and my wife and I had a day off so decided to go. Brilliant experience from start to finish. Great, friendly service, extensive menu and delicious food. After our starters of hot and sour and chicken sweetcorn soup, we shared szechuan duck, crispy chilli beef, fried rice and chow mein. It was delicious. Thank you.

Fantastic time. Came for a meal for Chinese new year! Food was amazing. Capital ribs were the best I’ve had!!! Would definitely recommend.

My favourite chinese in the North East best chowmain!!!

I ordered a "bowl" of egg fried rice. It was the first time I had eaten egg fried rice that was so light, white and light with no fat. Although there was no fat, the egg flavor was very fragrant; the ingredients we ordered for the spicy hot pot were: shrimp, There are at least six kinds of fatty intestines, cauliflower, potatoes, pork belly, and yuba. They are paired with egg fried rice. The spiciness and aroma go well together. As for the drinks? It's ok.

AVOID Booked the function room meant be £20 per person food and drink included.when we arrived told us 45 mins to order food and drinks. Handed us bill at the end of 3hrs £900 said we went over there was only 7 of us each having 1 main and about 4 drinks each. WORKED OUT £150 PER PERSON. there is cheaper and nicer restaurants further down the road

Great place and budget-friendly.

We were told when booking it would be £20 per head and a £50 deposit which would cover as much food and drinks as possible for all 7 of us at no extra cost. Bearing in mind, we rang up 3 times before the date to make different amendments to our booking and part of our party had also been here before for a 40th birthday (this had around 30 people with dishes and drinks each), and the same was asked of us - £20 per head to cover all costs, nothing hidden. Got to the room all fine, had great fun on the karaoke, ordered food and drinks...to then be presented with a £900 bill, because we'd went over our 'minimum spend' by over £700 and none of the staff bothered to tell us about when booking OR whilst hiring the room. We ordered a dish each and 3/4 rounds of drinks. So around 28 drinks and 7 dishes have somehow clocked up to nearly a grand! Great time honestly and would recommend the room, but this was up until the bill was presented to us. When you're booking, you're better off going to book in person so you can get a FULL understanding of what you're roughly paying and the full low down of how the KTV room hire costs work. Don't get the fright of your life with a bill that has cost someone's monthly rent.

Love coming here. Been coming here since it opened many years ago. Food and service is fast and great quality. Love the picture menus when you don't know what to eat.

The serving speed was too slow. It took almost an hour for the spicy hotpot to arrive. The same was true for several tables around, and the restaurant didn't have many customers. The spicy hot pot tastes good. The spicy and sour fried chicken pho had a strange fishy taste.

Top quality food and top quality service would recommend it highly

Good hygiene and well maintained. Had a bowl of noodles with fried chicken drumstick, the chicken is fried which made this dish a bit greasy. Was expecting some fresh veggies and herbs.

Hainan chicken rice i order every wednesday. I love it. They always give me the extra chilli sauce which i love. Nothing is a problem

We were served the wrong starters which lead to us waiting 2 hours for our mains. 2 mains our of 3 arrived which left me waiting another 15 minutes for mine to arrive, after having to go to the kitchen to find a member of staff. No apologies and we left very sad and disappointed. Would not return and I advise people to go anywhere but there.

I have visited this restaurant twice for special occasions (birthdays) now and enjoy it every time! Lovely atmosphere, friendly servers and good priced food! Can't fault the restaurant and would recommend to anyone.

Food was passable and very average. Service was very bad. Starter didn’t arrive until chased and then after an hour they said they had run out of my main course. Their excuse was lots of takeaway orders. Will not go back and suggest you avoid.

Came to the restaurant on a Friday evening. It wasn't busy so it gave the restaurant a quiet atmosphere, pleasant but not giving it a vibrant feel. The staff were pleasant, however, the service felt slow. For example, we had been seated for several minutes before anyone came to take our order. When the food did arrive it was great. The menu had lots of options which all looked delicious.

Had a great meal here with my wife. Didn’t know what we wanted so we ended up ordering a load of starters and a crispy duck and were not disappointed. It was all awesome and we will definitely be back again next time we are in Newcastle

Food is great and quantity really good too! However when I ordered a pot of tea (just for myself) my wife decided she wanted to try and asked for another cup...But we were charged for TWO pots of tea??? Apparently the rule is they charge by the CUP!!

Took my sister here last week for a meal out and was totally impressed. Lush food, great portions, massive menu, and really friendly service. My sister is veggie and there was a huge veggie menu here, which is partly why we came. Will def be coming again. Would fully recommend.

Visited here whilst in Newcastle. Have been looking for a good feed of Chinese since arriving in the UK. This place didn't disappoint. On arrival we were shown to our table and drinks were ordered. The manager took great interest after finding out we were from Australia. We had a great chat with him. The drinks and food soon arrived. The entrees were great and the mains were just what we had been waiting for (mini spring rolls, satay chicken, beef in black pepper sauce, szechuan chicken). Would recommend this restaurant in Newcastle's Chinatown area.

Great food, we had a lovely meal. The staff very friendly and attentive which added to it. We will definitely look to return. Lovely place.

Average at best. Spring rolls were all crunch and no punch. Main dishes were too salty and saucy and lacked enough meat to justify the price. Service was quite slow all around. Won't return.

스태프가 조금 바빠보였고 음식은 맛있었으나 중국집 음식을 굳이 한 접시에 2만원 내고 먹을 필요는 없는 것 같아요 ㅎㅎㅎ 분명 저번에 왔을때는 맛있었는데 바빠서 그런지 좀 빨리 만드셨나봅니다••• 추천 메뉴는 쓰촨 비프랑 단단미엔 아무거나 시키셔도 성공합니다 😌 하이난 치킨 라이스가 수요일에만 되는 게 좀 아쉬웁네요••

Very fast service and the food was great

Food is good however service is not, slow and disorganised. Staff requires training and shows lack of interest.

This is a great place to eat and we would definitely visit again if we were ever in the area. We had the Hot Pot dish to share and it was amazing. Staff are very helpful and friendly.

This was a fantastic place to eat. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Thank you especially to Sky who was amazing in her attentiveness, even booking me a cab and bringing me back inside to wait for it! The food came in great quantities and piping hot, even the glass for the cold drink was hot but that was fine! As I looked around very few people were able to finish their plates! Amazing! , I wish you were local to where I live!

Amaysia is definitely one of my top "go-to" places in Newcastle - consistently great in all aspects (menu options, affordability, food quality, staff, cleanliness of the restaurant). I can totally see why you'd take guests there

Good food served by friendly and courteous staff. We eat around 6pm without a reservation and it appears lucky they had room. This was Saturday night and I'd advise booking in advance. Even though they were busy we didn't feel rushed with time between courses to chat. Highly recommended.

Came here on my own midweek. The food was lovely. Chicken black bean with egg fried rice and the capital sauce spare ribs were delicious. (Only minor criticism seems to be that when looking around I was the only table who didn’t seem to get given a bowl of free prawn crackers on their table)

My daughter started university life in Newcastle in September and this is so handy to the premier inn where we’ve stayed. This was our second visit to this lovely restaurant, food quality is excellent and feel the prices are reasonable, service is ok. We first visited as a family and this evening as a couple. The one thing I would change about this restaurant is the loud cheesy 80’s tunes blasting out on repeat, becomes very annoying and irritating..,,please please address this and tone / turn it down, this is what lowers my score from a 4 to a 5 * review, love a bit of background music but this is a bit ott in my opinion.
