I’m confused and distraught by this.. Do not dine here a rat was found Yesterday evening, on the blessed day of Eid, myself and my two sisters went for Dinner at Amaya Grill and Bar. Let me start by saying our waiter and the manager were very polite and understanding, and didn’t take wrong in this situation. The food was decent, but we had an uncomfortable situation of seeing a Rat in the restaurant. We felt very uncomfortable, and it put us off our meal, we had informed the manager with what happened, and she offered to right off the bill, and compensate us for our unfortunate experience, which we saw as a gesture of good will. Less than 24 hours later, my sister’s card was billed £200+ by the restaurant, keep in mind this was the card attached for the reservation, not a card presented at the restaurant nor agreed to be used or charged for the bill. Out of confusion to the fact we were told we won’t be charged, my sister then called to understand the situation, she was called back by a man called Preman Mohan, the So called ‘director’ of this restaurant. He calls and starts by saying what’s the issue? He’s called and started with this, my sisters explained the situation, explained that the manager came to a conclusion, not an agreement, a conclusion that it’s only right we are able to end our experience without paying due to the fact of what happened. Mr Mohan kept continuously speaking in a manner of threat, he continuously cut my sister off as she spoke then said a few statements to my sister: ‘You’re putting words into my managers mouth’ ‘You didn’t give her an option’ ‘It wasn’t a Rat, it was a mouse’ ‘It wasn’t in the kitchen, it was only in the seating area’ ‘What restaurant have you been to before and expected to have free food?’ ‘I’ll take the service charge off, but the food is being payed for’ ‘The money will come out the managers pocket, do you really want that for her’ The complete immaturity of this so called director, this man who’s called in the manner he did. He didn’t stop there, he’s then decided he’s going to bring up my sisters record of other restaurants.. never have I heard of this being appropriate or being done in a situation like this. 3+ years ago we were offered a free meal by another restaurant as they didn’t ask for allergies when taking orders, our friend had an allergic reaction to the point ambulance was called to the restaurant to take her from there, to where the restaurant offered the meal on the house as it was a situation to literally my friend could’ve had it to the worse, without knowing a situation he brought this up, saying my sister is an individual who goes to restaurants and continuously tries this, again, this is the director speaking like this, you would think a man of experience, sorry, a boy of experience would speak with more professionalism, but he thought let me do what I do best, and be a stubborn, lying, unprofessional director and take matters into my own hands. HES THEN SAID HE WILL BLACKLIST US FROM THE RESTAURANT FOR THIS? surely as a business owner, you want to make amends, you want to understand the situation, he’s blacklisted us as if we are a problem and threat, his staff literally offered the meal, not us, what can we do, when you decide you want to charge without calling or understanding. This google review isn’t the only thing we’ll be doing, mark my words. We didn’t even complain further as everything else was okay, we simple kept the situation within the restaurant of the rat and uncomfortable circumstances but Preman decided he’ll take matters into his own hands, without a call to understand, without asking which card to bill, without asking is it ok to bill? A so called Michelin starred restaurant with a director like this? What a plumb, to speak to a woman like this aswell, would’ve preferred if he called me in to speak face to face in his pest filled restaurant. Preman, well done for putting your rat starred, sorry, Michelin starred restaurant into the mud. Kudos to you sir x and thank you for ruining our Eid!

THE RESTAURANT HAD A RAT RUNNING ACROSS THE RESTAURANT! DO NOT DINE! I REPEAT DO NOT GO! I was so appalled by my experience, I went to celebrate Eid with my family and towards the end of the meal we saw a large mouse run across the place TWICE. We then complained, the manager reassured that we will not be charged for the bill to only then be charged onto my card the very next day! The director was SO rude to me on the phone he tried to justify it saying the mouse wasn’t found running around in the kitchen therefore my concerns weren’t a big issue..?! Like i said I am traumatised please do not waste your money on this so called Michelin star restaurant - the food was decent but it’s not worth your money! I never write google reviews but I had to on this occasion because its the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant!

Mostly about food here..(Service and atmosphere were great). Starters Gilaf dori seekh kebab(would recommend), Black pepper chicken, and prawns were good. The rose n chilli chicken and chicken chops were just ok. Flavours could have been stronger. Cocktails could have been better too. I struggled to find a good one apart from the old fashioned I had. Main course: Awadhi chicken was good. Chicken biryani was just ok. Missing flavour again.

It’s been years since I last went to Amaya and while I’m not a fan of traditional north Indian fayre, which is generally pretty unimpressive in the UK, Amaya is outstanding and impressive. The preparation and presentation is beyond compare and the flavours are nothing short of divine. If I have one criticism, I found the crockery (square glass plates) slightly out of keeping with a Michelin star restaurant - what’s wrong with plain white china or even modern ‘thaalis’ (traditional Indian dishes). The service could also be slicker but overall a memorable experience

Better that the greatness it was. Used to be our fav resturant before but After many new indian restaurants opened up in london we stoped coming. We came this time our anniversary and man what great service, food and ambience. Everything we ordered was to perfection. The lead waiter on us was supper frindly and kept checking that food was liked by daughter. Infact she eat somthing a bet spicy on her and rushed to get her a lacy to cool her down. She doesnt like lacy, no issue he got her an ice cream pop. Made her smile and felt like she was a queen. They heard its our anniversary from my daughter and they made us a great gulp desert and made us feel special. Thank u all for a morblerl time after 20 years of knowing u 😘

I have been coming to Amaya for many years now. The quality of food is fast deteriorating. We had Brocolli with yogurt and another yogurt preparation. Seems like someone is trying to conjure up a dish on the hoof just to save money. Is Amaya running out of ideas? There used be a complimentary sweet dish, that seems to have gone but I still paid £55 for each of us. So, clearly not value for money anymore. The fish and the chicken were lovely as always but seemed like a drop in the ocean of disappointment. Sad, to see the slow disintegration of Amaya the iconic restaurant of yester years, where I used to feel pride in bringing my guests.

I really enjoyed the concept of tapas food. There are plenty of vegetarian options and the waiters are knowledgeable about the food and menu. The atmosphere is lovely and you can see some of the fresh produce they utilize; the place was very busy for a thursday evening but not too loud. I think this is a great place for families, friends or colleagues to dine. The only thing to consider for their restaurant policy is they do not permit takeaway for example when we could not finish our main course. This left a slight feeling of discontent as the food is wasted and we have also paid for a full dish we could not complete. I think in view of a big move towards sustainability, the restaurant needs to consider offering a takeaway service for left overs (with sustainable packaging) even if it comes at a small additional cost.

Last week, my partner and I had an abysmal experience at Amaya, which we don't believe is at all deserving of its Michelin star. We felt ignored the moment we were seated—and quite frankly, discriminated against. Right off the bat, our waitress—a curt blonde woman with a ponytail and glasses—failed to offer us menus or water, which we had to request. We would have been sympathetic had she been kind and simply seemed overworked; however, she was incredibly attentive to another party (comprising two white, middle-aged men, whom she perhaps deemed more important than us, a younger-looking Asian couple), seated after we were at the same shared table, within arms length. We watched as she gingerly tended to them throughout the night with a smile, swiftly replenishing their drinks and changing their plates in between courses while blatantly ignoring our numerous attempts to draw her attention. We ordered the Amaya Favourites tasting menu. The food was subpar, starting with a goat cheese and mandarin salad that lacked any Indian flavor. The lamb kebab was also overspiced. At one point we waited more than 45 minutes in between courses, having to flag down waitstaff multiple times to check on the next dish. (Our waitress somehow skillfully kept her gaze away from our table while continuing to cater to the party next to us. One time she refilled my partner's water glass, but left mine empty.) They also never served us naan, which was supposed to be part of the prix-fixe menu. Toward the end, a bus person handed us dessert menus, even though dessert was supposed to already be included in the tasting. It was then that we asked to speak to the restaurant's manager. He was very understanding of our plight and apologized profusely, comping our lassis and waiving the service fee. We appreciated the gesture, but it wasn't nearly enough to convince us to ever return. We dined at several other Michelin-starred Indian restaurants during our trip, including Trishna and Gymkhana, both of which we would recommend head and shoulders above Amaya. The bottom line? Don't waste your money here!

Food was tasty. Very well executed food. Portions were small, we took the tasting menu and both me and the wife were hungry in the end. The service was quite bad, mix of waiters, almost nothing to say of the courses. Didn’t feel personal in any way. Atmosphere just ok. Nothing fancy, heaters were scattered around the floor creating an uneven heat/cold feeling. In the end it felt like a pricey Indian restaurant with good, uninspiring food. Nothing that deserves a Michelin star.

Beware of undisclosed costs and be sure to under order. Anything they offer you (water, rice, naan) costs extra, which is not disclosed so you have to be sure to ask. Also be careful how much you order, the food was fantastic but I would not have ordered as much as I did if I had known they would rather throw it away than let you take any leftover food with you. Again, food was incredible, but when I was told I could not take the food I paid for with me and then received the bill to see everything I was not told would cost extra I was quite disappointed.

Had an incredible meal at Amaya. The concept allows you to try a wide range of grill dishes and curries. A combination of classic indian dishes you think you know elevated to new levels, and novel creations such as fried rock oyster in a spiced coconut sauce. All accompanied by great wines from some big name vineyards. The venue is also elegant and it’s great fun to watch the chefs operate the various grills in the open kitchen.

The food was good but not memorable ( It just reinforced the idea that a Michelin star rated food anywhere in the world should be taken with double dose of salt). In my opinion it is way overpriced for the quality of the food offered. Also they moved us to the bar area for the desert and that counts as rushed service in my opinion. They also need to train their waiters about wine etiquette. Our waiter treated our wine as if it is water constantly topping it to the initial pour level

Went there twice within 10 days to re-experience the excellent first visit which we had so thoroughly enjoyed. The quality of dishes remained excellent and unsurpassed, and so did the attentive service, but what was different the second time was the competence of our maitre d’hotel. He was so different from the first. The first, Mr George, was enthusiastic and eager to suggest and make us try cocktails and different dishes, and helped us select, which all turned out to be so so good. His attention to customer experience shone through. The second time round the attitude of our maitre d’hotel was “if you ask I’ll explain, otherwise the menu is before you”. So while we enjoyed the dishes the experience of eating out was marred by the personality of our new maitre d’hotel. But even so I will not deduct any stars. It’s a wonderful restaurant!

This was a great disappointment, having been recommended Amaya by a friend we went in with high hopes. The Michelin star at the front door must have been misplaced, as nothing within the restaurant gave credit to it. The prices are ridiculous for what you get, the atmosphere is that of a canteen and the beer tasted like the first attempt of a home brew kit, with the audacity to serve it in a tasting glass. Senior staff was phenomenal, but Junior staff gave away a lack of training, certainly not what's expected of a starred establishment. Service felt rushed in a way, maybe because everything comes hot of the grill. We finished the dinner in less than an hour, not because we're fast eaters. Really well cooked I wish I had ordered more! My partner has an Indian father and likes spicy food so unfortunately she did not enjoy her chicken curry dish, even thou the flavour of the tomato sauce was nice it was not very spicy so that was disappointing also my lamb biriani although cooked nicely with soft lamb pieces was quite dry without a sauce luckily I could use some of my partners! We had a reservation for 7.45pm, which I confirmed the day before. When we arrived at 7.54pm, we were told to just have a seat at the bar, with no explanation of what was going on or how long we would wait. At 8.10pm, I asked the hostess what was going on and she said she was trying her best to get a table (still no explanation). At that point no one had asked us if we wanted anything to drink, I therefore rushed to grab menus myself. 8.20pm still waiting I followed up with the hostess, who said because we arrived late (10min...) our table was given away and she was doing her best to accomodate. She mentioned she would have us seated in 5minutes. Only at 8.50pm, over an hour after our initial reservation did they seat us. We opted for the tasting menu, but between each dish ended up waiting 15-30 minutes... we left the restaurant at 11.30pm. Unacceptable for a restaurant of this quality. The food was delicious but the wait time and quality of service ruined our experience. Meanwhile on the table next to us, were 4 men, with one consistently banging on his plate and screaming as if they were the only ones in the restaurant. The worst part of this whole experience, is that not once did I hear an apology from any member of the staff.

The initial dish, a noodle salad, did not possess the recognizable characteristics of a typical Indian dish. The Tandoori chicken, had an acceptable taste, but failed to leave a lasting impression. The grilled lamb chops.were excellent. The Biryiani, while possessing a satisfactory taste, was lacking in the amount of lamb provided. As for dessert, it was rather unremarkable and did not align with the typical flavors of Indian cuisine. The service lacked attentiveness and displayed a certain clumsiness. Regrettably, I cannot recommend this restaurant, as neither the dishes nor the service meet the standards expected of a Michelin-star establishmen.

You have a manager with a derogatory approach to guests. 4. You all simple do not seem to care, best to avoid the entire restaurant group… Edit 01: I see that this sort of discrimination is not uncommon at Amaya, I see many reviews on Tripadvisor and google point out to similar experiences, where Indian and Asians are not welcome and the restaurants wants to cater only to Caucasians. This approach was well evidenced by our entire family, right from the time we got to the restaurant, not providing us with a table, chef sending horrible and no food at all, manager wanting to greet and meet with other nationalities, laughing and joking with staff, while we request to speak with her... I cannot believe this place is for real!!!! While we enjoy Veeraswamy and Masala Zone, and a very frequent visitor to MW Eat Group restaurants specially Veeraswamy. I am in the food business and a food critique, I have to say Amaya has been a total disappointment. Hospitality: One of the most dreadful experiences I have ever had in any of the restaurants in any part of the world, it is really hard to believe that this restaurant is managed by the same group company that has managers such as Sarfaraz and Anjan (both from Veerasawamy) and chefs such as Sadeep and uday (again both from Masala zone and Veerasawamy), the reason I say this is because, based on my experience at Amaya.... Starting from the Chef: I came across a chef who does not care if the guests at his restaurant are fed or hungry, who does not care to cater to the basic needs of guests. I do not know this chef personally, but, in my honest opinion, a person with this sort of attitude should have a conscience and not stand behind a kitchen EVER in his life. Such a disgrace. Manager: a French Manager, who's attitude and ego is on the top of her head, that she does not like Indian eating in a Indian restaurant, who was more bothered to butter the naans and plates of people of certain origin over Indians. I was taken back in thoughts to historic days prior to 1947 with Indians not being welcome in an Indian restaurant. She even had the audacity to not come to the table to have a chat even after being requested that I wanted to meet a manager. while I had a chat with her prior to leaving, she was one of the coldest persons I have come across, with an attitude and unwelcoming, cold, approach making our family unwelcome. I never know an Indian person can be discriminated in an Indian Restaurant, it makes be baffle even while I am writing this review. Food: For the very first time, we leave a restaurant with a £300 bill while being hungry, dissatisfied, disappointed and humiliated. We were a party of 6 all of us vegetarians and not a single dish in the menu catered to vegetarians, we ordered Naan and wanted to have a veg curry, and made a very basic request to feed us veg curry to go with the naan. The Chef sends us a message (not in person, but through a runner in the restaurant) that the cannot serve anything. The request was simple, give the same curry that he/she severs but without meat. This is as simple as NOT adding meat, but he/she does not which to accommodate. Instead says "take it or leave it". The food in general was substandard, the dal was cold and felt like mold, This was the only curry that was on the menu for the vegetarians to accompany the Naan bread. we let this pass and ordered some goat cheese, which was rubbery, Spinach Tikki was alright who extremely greasy/cheesy, the garlic naan was dipped in butter/oil, there was not FINE about dining here. The attitude of both the manager and the chef have made the experience, however they had their own priorities and their own set of customers they wanted to please.

Excellent experience from start to finish. Mid-august evening, nice table in a busy & slightly noisy dining room. Our server Tyson George was extremely pleasant & gave excellent guidance on all items on the menu. We chose to go a la carte rather than tasting menu. All our chosen dishes were delivered in a timely manner & described down to the last detail by Tyson. We enjoyed every morsel of every dish & cant wait to return.. I particularly enjoyed the White Rhino IPA.

The food was extremely underwhelming. It didn’t taste bad, except the biryani. Biryani was terrible and chicken was dry, I mentioned it but it didn’t seem to have any impact whatsoever. The starters were very good. It wasn’t what I expect from a Michelin star restaurant though. That did not make sense to me. There was nothing I ate there that I wouldn’t get anywhere else, and definitely for much cheaper. So I’m a bit let down by that. If you’re going to grab bite with some small plates, this is a really good place.

I’ve been here a few times but over 7-8 years ago and always remembered their food being amazing. I suggested this place to celebrate a friends birthday and boy it did not disappoint. They have kept the same (if not better) standard, taste, ambience and flavour! We ordered the tasting menu and it was just unreal. I got the veggie one and each dish was literally ‘melt in the mouth’. My friends also said that the meat dishes were really tender and delicious. The cocktails were also awesome especially the lychee and rose martini. The service was faultless. A lot of people say that you can’t find a good authentic fine dining/Michelin Indian restaurant but I disagree. This food definitely was authentic and very filling. I would highly recommend Amaya. It’s just perfect.

Bellissima esperienza culinaria indiana a Londra. A me è piaciuto molto!!!

The food here was amazing! We tried the tester menu where you will get approx 8 small dishes. Absolutely incredible tasty! So fresh, and made to perfection. The staff members are very welcoming and explain everything so well. Our waiter Parul done such a good job, honestly made us feel very welcomed and ensured we were told what every dish was and met all our needs. Great experience overall! Highly recommended.

The food and atmosphere is wonderful. Our table ordered about 9 different dishes to share and every single one of them was delicious and perfect. Wait staff is amazing. It’s some of the guests that are a little too snooty and uptight. It’s a restaurant, it’s loud, people are laughing, and putting staff in a position to tell someone to be quiet for “laughing too loudly” is ridiculous. Stay at home if people’s happiness bothers you. Huge props to how mature and professional the staff was.

One of the finest Indian restaurants in London. Great atmosphere where (depending on your table) you can also see the chefs at work. Nice range of dishes - particularly liked the tandoori prawn and the biryani, but the absolute stand-out was the lamb sushi! It made me wonder why it hadn’t been done before! Excellent service and good cocktails rounded off a wonderful evening.

Had a dinner here last night, the restaurant was hard to find as we came from Halkin Arcade side using Google. Once in the venue it has a decent decor and overall vibe was just ok but nothing to write home about. I cannot remember the name but our server was really helpful and charming, he helped us make all selections. I would highly recommend the lamb galafi kebab, chicken kebab, watercress and green peas seekh (vegetarian), chicken and lamb biryani all very superb and one can get real North Indian or mughlai authentic taste from the food!! It’s probably so far one of the best Indian food we had in UK. The desert selection is innovative but order a lots of portion as these servings are small. They need to improve their drinks menu as the cocktails list was not very interesting. Also I got disappointed by the screw cap The Crossing Pinot Noir in by the glass selection, one expect the sommelier in such high end places to have very carefully selected the house vines. Summing it up, amazing food but need improvement in other areas.

First experience of Indian fine dining. Contemporary food with some twist. Service was impeccable and everyone couldn’t do enough. Nice atmosphere with the food being the focus. The food was interesting. Tasty in parts and amazingly presented. Did it have the wow factor. Not sure it did. It was good, some was very good but not enough things were very good. Maybe I needed to try something different but as a group we had quite a lot of different dishes. I’d go again and try other things. It’s expensive but a nice treat. Worth a try but be ready not to be blown away.

Stylish Hyde Park gem offering South Asian fusion. The small plates here are inventive and excellent, and the cocktails creative and delicious! I enjoyed the Michi martini and a margarita made with yellow chartreuse. My dishes included excellent battered oysters, lamb sushi (yes, lamb!), tasty cuts of duck in plum sauce, and a ghosht with the savory meat falling off the bone. The service was attentive but relaxed -- they don't rush you out the door here. A thoroughly enjoyable culinary experience!

We visited yesterday the restaurant with my wife and two children. We all had the tasting menu. The food with the exception of the first course (salad) was terrible so much that no one cared that the quantities were too small. The service was polite but really slow. All of that for 85 GBP per person! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone Stay away!

I wanted something quick, and the "Crispy chips, Greek marinated Chicken, Gouda & Garlic paprika aoli" sounded good. What a huge disappointment: the chips were as crispy as a wet napkin, totally soggy
