The usual food variety for a lay-by set up done perfectly. The place was clean, food good quality and plenty of it. Very friendly couple and Amanda’s baps were 👌 See you next time we are up.

My wife and I pulled off the M6 to grab a ‘brunch’ here. The quality of the food and the friendly service lived up to the high expectations set from reading other reviews - the stellar rating is wholly deserved in our opinion. We might even plan trips to make sure we’re passing when they are open!

Good food, fresh cooked. Friendly host. Plenty of parking and easy to find, just off J36 northbound on M6.

Got one of these on my way to work and it was great and the guy that served me was friendly and even asked how I wanted the bacon cooked, will definitely be back!

Stopped off for a bacon bap and coffee after a stroll by the River Lune. Super little fast food caravan, very clean and in a great spot for parking. Amanda is beautiful, friendly and very chatty, her husband can cook bacon to perfection, so it's a winning combination. Worth stopping whenever you're on the road from Lancaster to Caton.

Thank you trip advisor for another great recommendation! Amanda's is a van so don't expect anything else but my goodness this has got to be the best van food in the country! We followed the recommendation and were surprised not to find a cafe but I'm so glad we stopped. The food was delicious, great quality produce (don't know what a previous reviewer was referring to) and a great price. Everything was cooked to order and we had a great chat with Amanda and her fella (sorry I didn't learn your name!). The couple clearly knew all their customers and they had plenty of those. I can see why- I wish I lived in the area so I could be back more frequently. If you want a good meal at a great price travel the few moments off the A6- it's well worth the tiny diversion!

Hubby was only going to Screwfix in Morecambe but seeing we are have no kitchen at the moment he diverted to Amanda’s to surprise me with a bacon bap. I have to say I am now a total convert. Loads of bacon on a bap that lived up to the legend. Still hot when it arrived here after hot footing it down the Bay Gateway! We will be back in the next few days whilst the new kitchen gets fitted. I may not need lunch today....

In my oppinion a bad move, people will pay extra for good quality food. The extra cost should be introduce as and when the ingredient cost increse. not as an accumulated lump sum. But to keep the price low by reducing the quality makes one wonder if it is worth the extra journey.

Amanda’s beefburgers are the best I’ve ever tasted and I have been around for many decades; not only are they generous but they have a gorgeous flavour.

Stopped there a few times now on the way to work and never a complaint. Great service and fantastic food. My new stopping place when passing.

£2.70 for a massive sausage and bacon bun is a no brainer! My only complaint is that it takes me 10-15 minutes to eat it! I'm.a taxi driver and eat on the go all over but these are the best!

I often stop by on my way to work for one of Amanda's baps, those things are so big and saucy! Great food and great prices are often hard to match together but I think Amanda's cracked it - It's a definite yes from me!

Popped here for a quick bite at lunch as fancied something different. The double cheeseburger with salad (and griddled onions) was very tasty and properly cooked through.Decent selection of sauces to compliment, including even two types of Sriracha hot sauce. The owner even gave myself and my colleague a couple of proper plates to eat off while we sat admiring the countryside views. A credit to fast food. Will go again.

Great value.. Had a double cheeseburger which was nicely cooked and served in a nice big bap with fresh salad. Well presented establishment and everything you want in a dirty burger. Will make a point to pop by on the way ion to work sometimes and try their breakfast fare.

Amanda's is now in a layby on Caton Rd Lancaster 1 minute from J34 on the M6 towards a little village called Caton. I have traveled the country in my job and stopped at many roadside catering vans, but Amanda's I have to say is by far the best ! The baps are as they are described ..BIG.. and all the food is cooked fresh and in front of you. The buns are as fresh as you will get, the sausages, bacon etc are top quality and delicious. To top this they have a 5* rating in health and hygene !You are asked exactly what you want, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Price wise, they are very reasonable, but after all you get what you pay for and here you get great value for money. Both Amanda and her husband Jason are top people, they are really friendly and make you feel really welcome and always make time to chat to their customers, so if you're ever passing Lancaster on the way to the lakes or Yorkshire, I would recommend stopping for a great bap and a top brew at Amanda's Big Baps.Nice one guys, keep it up because I will definately be back soon !!

Amanda's baps are certainly not tiny, they are at least 5" across and very well filled.I have eaten here on many occasions, Amanda is always cheerful and the van is absolutely spotless.Helen, you must be mistaken and the dementia has caused you to forget which butty van you were at or you are just a nasty, vindictive person.I will certainly return for my bacon & cheese butty with a black tea. Amanda you are great :)

I actually don't think that the pundit known as Helen actually reviewed the right van as Amanda's buns are large about 125mm across and they are filled with well cooked food.Both Amanda and her husband are really friendly and it is a pleasure to call there and have well cooked food served. All you have to do is look at all the vans and trucks that stop and call.

Reasonably regular customer, the sandwiches are amazing, service is spot on both hosts lovely, you can expect some banter if cheeky, 5star rated for hygiene and rightfully so, have all but stopped going anywhwere else as no where else locally comes close for quality of product, care clearly taken to source good quality ingredients. Can not recommend enough, ignore any troll reviews

I love the baps and always get treated very well - often before my friends who also turn up. Todays hand fed sausage was particularly lovely!

The most delicious egg and mushroom bap I have ever tasted. The staff are amazingly friendly and the mobile van was immaculate. Would definitely return for another big bap.

It is great to have the time to visit this butty van just off the M6. Amanda and her husband not only serve a great butty but they have a sense of humour and fantastic customer service. All hot food is made to order in front of you and I can definitely recommend the bacon & cheese with ketchup. They also make cold sandwiches whilst you wait, eg ham salad. These also look really tasty although I have not tried one yet. If you are in Lancaster this great butty van is certainly worth a visit.

Absolutely fantastic food and real double act! Kids all loved it and I couldn't get enough of the bacon butties! Highly recommend as something for everyone

They're Amanda's big baps. Top roadside noshing, with the ever jovial Amanda and Jason in attendance. Do yourselves a favour, get a hold of Amanda's baps! lovely bacon, quality sausages and eggs however you want them. That was my breakfast and it was a breakfast which kept me going all day, the perfect fuel for a cold morning on site! Obviously the menu is a wee bit more than just bacon sausages and eggs but I'm a simple fella with simple tastes. The banter is just as good as the food and the views aren't bad either. Well worth a visit on your way past, or even a detour will make your day!

We stopped off on our trip from Lancaster to Scotland so i could get myself a big bap and see if the rumours about how big they are were true...i was not disappointed in the slightest..Jay was welcoming to the van, taking my order for a bacon and sausage bap very quickly while dealing with other customersWhen my bap arrived i nearly had to go and reverse my car up to the van as i wasn't sure i could carry it all the way down the other end of the lay-by to where i was parked ( i did manage it though)Upon opening the bag it came in i discovered the biggest breakfast bap i have ever seen, filled with high quality bacon and sausages and topped off with brown sauce After eating my HUGE bap it might of been wise to have an after food nap but i plodded on, full of big bap goodness that fuelled me all the way to Dundeei will definitely be visiting Amanda's big baps again when in the area

Perfect stop off for busy workers on a weekly basis! Food is fantastic value and quality, always served with a smile!Amanda also now has a fantastic motorbike to view whilst you're eating your butty that is the envy of many visitors!

I stumbled upon Amanda's Big Baps by chance - they are just up Caton Road from the M6 (J34), going away from Lancaster. A good brew, bacon cooked just as I asked for, quality baps, all in all a top value stop off - very satisfying. Topped off by a good view and a happy chat from Amanda & Jay. See you again soon.

I often travel between lancaster and caton and today I decided to stop and get breakfast at amandas. Im glad i did. It was loaded with sausages, bacon and egg, and cooked to perfection. not only do you get great food but also a friendly chat while waiting for your food. when i saw the size of the bap, i was told "we wouldnt be called amandas big baps if we gave you a little one". i will definitely be back for more. *****

Amanda's half pound burger was a delight to the taste buds. Made the special way of course. Omlettes were also featuring heavily today, as was brown bread. Lol Thanks again Amanda, Will see you again soon

I have visited Amanda's Big Bap's many times and I have to say its always the burger that draws me in. The quality of the meat, which the owner confirms is locally produced, is not what you would expect from a normal mobile catering set-up, but this is no normal set-up! ..large...juicy..perfectly cooked and you even gets choice of cheese (burger cheese or cheddar). And to top it off they offer a wide selection of sauces and I have to say the strong chilli sauce is enough to clear anyones head! I can not stress enough the quality of the burger meat, usually you would expect a cheap burger stored in hot water for god knows how long, but Amanda's Big Bap's burgers are all cooked to order. I often stay for a coffee and sometimes treat myself to a chocolate bar which allows me time to enjoy the friendly banter amongst the friendly and charismatic staff and the regular customers (there always seems to be someone there!). What more could you want? get down and sample Amand's Big Baps, they are the best in Lancaster, if not the North West!

Had a Hawian burger from Amanda when I was in Lancaster last year. If she had her van in Sheffield I would be stopping off 3 times a day. Good food and good banter. Franchise on the horizon me thinks.But that would mean cloning Amanda and Jay to produce the same quality banter. Nom nom mmmmmmmmm

The number of times I've visited this establishment and been transformed from any number of low points, physical and mental, into a human being again......I lose count. I'm not religious but I think if I was, I would worship the food served by the lovely peeps at Big Baps. On Saturday I shambled over the road (how amazing of them to set up stall so close!) in a right old state with hunger in my belly like no other, and I was treated to a heavenly double burger with cheese, onions and spicy sauce. If I could go back to any one food-related moment in my life it would be the moment I sunk my chops into that burger! Whatever I buy when I visit, it is always the most top quality meat, the staff are so very friendly and the cups of tea lovely. I would recommend it to anyone!

We were watching Lancaster Royal Grammar playing rugby this morning and after the game myself and partner were a bit peckish. I have never tried Amandas' big baps before and what a treat they were. We had bacon and cheeseburgers. The food was cooked to perfection. Most noticeable was the quality of the ingredients and the wonderful service with a smile. A bit of love in the food goes a long way. The best takeaway burger by far. So all I can say is thankyou Amandas' big baps and an Excellent from me also.

I stop of here fairly regularly through the week. Always great quality products used with a smile and good friendly banter with Amanda and Jay. The food is always spot on and the cups of tea are made with good quality tea bags as opposed to some of the other places i used to use. Highly recommended.

Feeling rather tired after a long drive from Bristol to Edinburgh, I thought I'd stop off at Lancaster for a quick bite. I fancied a cuppa and a burger with salad, and my family were a trifle peckish, too. To cut a long story short, 7 of us ate and either had brews or pop for under 20 pounds. The bacon that my husband had, was like a gammon steak, and all of our orders were supremely generous and well cooked. Our brews were made with Yorkshire tea, and my husband had a cappuccino. All of this was served with a hefty dollop of the sauce of your choice and loads of laughter. Better atmosphere than your own home. ....better food, too . Thanks Big Baps x

Best food none to man.. The quality is fantastic great banta cooked to perfection I had bacon sausage mushrooms egg and black pudding in a bun try this if you dare best butte.

Just the best quality food from a burger van ever. Great hospitality from Amanda and Jay who always give a great welcome. Really varied menu and cater for all tastes using really quality products, unlike alot of other outside caterers. Recommend the spam and egg and BLT as my favourite in the trademark Big bap buns!

If you're passing on the A6 South of Lancaster, you can't go wrong with a stop at Amanda's big baps. Friendly fast service, great value and a corking bap & mug of tea. Brilliant.
