Nice barkeep. The duck liver parfait was tasty (not served as a parfait but rather as slab of liver pate, side of jam, oatcakes). Creamy and not gritty. The cullen skink was fine - just a bit salty. The venison casserole actually needed some salt but was huge portions!! The vegetables with it were very nice!

The views are incredible, upon entering the bar we were initially just seeking a drink , however a very charming elderly gentleman approached us on entering and asked if we were you looking for food and we responded “maybe”. This is where the salesman patter began The elderly gentleman enquired where we were from and shared that we had travelled 9 hours from Wales , this is where he knew he had hooked his next victim. He explained that there were extremely busy however he quickly hurried us to table within the bar area , we were perplexed as the main restaurant appeared to be empty. The bar man / maybe owner proclaimed the langoustines and mussels were the best you could get in the Isle of Skye . Trusting individuals as we are believed his passionate proclamation and we eagerly order both dishes. Awaiting our feast the mussels were ok , however half of the pot the shells un-opened (obviously not as fresh as the gentleman was so passionate about bracing ) bowl of chips (unknowingly frozen ) , langoustines were ok compared to other restaurant we have dined in recently. We had two small glasses of Chardonnay and 2 bottle of local lager . The bill totalling £87++++ . Unknowingly the wine was charged at £9.50 per glass as apparently organic and this levied an extortionate price for a 175ml. I suppose the morale of the story is diners beware especially if you are approached by a over excited owner who enquires where you have travelled from , in our opinion was not a genuine enquiry but a tactic to see if he can easily raise the bill price unknowingly. I would go to a more reputable hotel kinlich lodge where indeed it’s high in price but the quality matches . I am hoping the bar owner reads this and ceases this tactic as. Isle of Skye will get a true reputation for being a low quality tourist trap

We’re foodies from Manchester and after a visit here, we were perplexed. This place came recommended by locals and tourists alike - I would not recommend. This place charges fine dining prices for a subpar experience … which would be putting it kindly. Give it a miss. Although, nice surroundings - maybe a drink pitstop with a packet of crisp and nothing more.

Asked for Scottish stout, was offered Guinness, which to the bartender is not stout(???!!!). Venison could have been anything, as it lacked the characteristic strong taste. 10%-gratuity already included, not earned. Bad-vibe atmosphere, totally unexpected in ultra-friendly Scotland. My only negative experience in beautiful Sleat.

Despite her being extremely busy we were very well looked after and given a table as soon as one was available. The food was really good. We had lamb shank and rib. Both were utterly delicious. The choice of whiskeys is also a great feature with some of the gins also having been produced locally. We would definitely recommend a visit here.

We stopped here on our way from Edinburgh to Portree — a perfect place for a classic lunch. We were greeted by Cornelius and given seats right next to a warming fireplace. The food and drink were just what we had hoped and we had nice conversations with the other guests. This may be my favorite pub. The food is outstanding every time and the beer and whisky offerings are strong. It always feels warm and inviting. We come 3-4 times each time we visit Sleat. Recommend.

We visit the Larder each summer on our west coast trips. We opted for two savoury and two sweet pies to takeaway. One smoked haddock and cheese sauce, one chicken and haggis with sauce, one peach and apricot and one apple and blackcurrant. The smoked haddock pie was amazing, the best ever. The pastry was lovely too. I’ll definitely keep my eye out for this tasty pie on future visits. The chicken and haggis pie was lovely too, both pies moist and packed with filling, great sauces in them. I’m not keen on sweet pies but we enjoyed them too. The peach and apricot pie was perfect for me. Price wise the savoury pies are about right for the weight. No shortage of fish and meat in them.

A star on the north coast and a must visit. Gorgeous views over the Kyle from the outside seating. Family run with great service and great chat, the food was fantastic. We had lunch and had to add the sundae to celebrate the sunny day.

We know the Tongue area very well, and like to eat locally, so it was obvious we would decide to eat at the Craggan, and i'm happy we did! The restaurant area is welcoming and clean, staff friendly, and the car park was easy even with a big van. The only problem was choosing from the menu! So many tasty things - i wish we had more time to visit again.. All three of us enjoyed our food, and we shared everything so i know it was all delicious. Thank you for making a rather wet evening so special..

Dirty tables. Dirty menus. My daughter was served a mouldy panini. Cheese in panini was plastic. Very dry tasteless cheese scone. Drinks not too bad.

It was such a pleasure to visit this cafe and a welcome contrast to the pre-paid accommodation ran by some racketeer at Ivy Cottage. We took one look at what was on offer and fled to next ferry to Mallaig. I went to school in Inverie in 1948- 49. when the priest had an affair with our teacher. He wnt on to become bishop of the Westrn Isles while she became an un-married mother
