Ally's Fish and Chips in Gloucester

This is the second time in a row we got stitched up. Two weeks ago ordered food with mushy peas. Pushy peas was off. Today we ordered 2 battered sausages, chips and pineapple fritter. Got home to find out we got 2 normal sausages instead of battered and also those 2 Sausages not only they are not what we ordered they also look like they were sitting in there forever. This is the last time We are eating here. Lady who answered the phone was lovely and apologised , she wanted me to pass me to the manager, but he wouldn’t speak to me. What a waste of money!!!!!!

Lovely freshly cooked fish and chips; generous portions too. Great curry sauce. Still hot when got home.

Ordered takeaway from ally’s fish and chips delivery came no curry sauce and They poured bbq sauce all Over the food tried phoning them they answered the phone then cut me off how bloody rude

So disappointed Previous fish and chips good but not yesterday. Asked for a large cod which was average size. No flesh ,it was dark little flesh more like texture of plaice Next time I want fish and chips I will go to a different shop

Just paid £16 for fish, chips and curry sauce. Absolutely disgusting fish was frozen and grey, chips were bad and like rubber and the curry sauce was like cement. Never again if you want good fish and chips use Coney Hill chip shop everytime. Was recommended to try this place but NEVER again I wouldn't eat them again if they were free

Worst bit of cod If you can call it cod! Had better cod out of the supermarket! Asked for a large my 5 year old would of asked for more it was so small. My mother ordered the doner kebab was freezing cold and tasted horrid. No wonder the queue outside ruddys in Hucclecote is always so long. A neighbor recommended ally’s to us well we won’t be going back that’s for sure. Absolute awful service from the young girls in their thee red head had more loose hairs on her back and shoulders than she did on her head!!

I've always been happy with Ally's but we had fish and chips this evening, around 5.30pm, and it is possibly the worst fish and chips I've ever had in all of my 70+ years. The fish was so dry and stuck to the obviously old and burned batter, the chips were no better. I think the whole lot was from lunchtime and deep fried to 'Freshen them up', which obviously didn't work, just burned it all. I tried to contact them through Facebook, which was there when I wanted to compliment them, but their Facebook page has disappeared.

Bad service, long wait, cold food Visited chippy placed my order told will be about 5 minutes, staff seemed all about just eat orders about 30 minutes later I finally get my order without any apology

Been twice now at published opening times and they are shut... Can't comment on food as never open. Never again

Rude, unhelpful, and won't ever be spending money in there again and would advise others to go elsewhere. Staff working on the evening of the 9th August need training in customer service and having manners. If not happy in job then leave!

My wife and I had a craving for fish and chips, and we drove around looking for a shop that looked clean and where the staff were wearing masks. No luck, just about to give up when we thought of the Abbeydale one. I drove there expecting to be disappointed, but was pleasantly surprised! Now under new management, it’s called Ally’s, and it has had a full makeover. Super clean, friendly staff - wearing masks and very good fish and chips! We will definitely be returning for a family meal.

Just wanted to reiterate the same as previous reviewer - good chips but rather rubbery fish. I had the small cod, batter far too thick/ not at all crispy and fish overcooked/ solid - can only think sat there a while, so not ideal

I must say the chips from Allys are amazing. Much better cooked than other local chippys in Gloucester. Downside is the fish, although was nice and long, the flakes were huge, mine was so rubbery even the cat refused to chewed them. Maybe it was a little old? I’m going back again but for £5.50 for fish I’d expect it to be a little better than this. Also when people ask for a bread bun please don’t use your fingers without gloves. This is a covid world now and I’m a little nervous when I see the girl on the till pick up my bread roll with her bare hands, wrap it and wipe her hands down the apron to remove the flour from them.

tried every fish and chip shop in gloucester area and there are a few good ones around but we have now settled on this one
