Closed ...booked online, but turned up to closed restsurant - online booking still open...don't waste your time ...go rlsewhere ...this restaurant us CLOSED

Did a online reservation for 7.30pm but it was closed, no sign and doors were locked. I managed to call someone and they said it gone out of business so I told them to stop taking online reservation. DONT BOTHER WITH THEM !!!!!!!!!

This restaurant is closed but still taking online bookings. We arrved for a birthday meal to find place in darkness. Even received an online reminder day before!

6 pm booking for 4. Door locked tight. Didn’t answer phone or email query. No notice in door to say it had shut. Went to Cote next door who were more than happy to take our money. Don’t bother.

Advertised opening time for lunch is 12:00. We arrived early for our 12:15 booking, and found the door locked. When the door was still locked at 12:25 we gave up and went elsewhere.

Used to love this place, although having moved away from the area only got back on the odd occasion. Won't bother again. Menu similar but different, and not for the better! Wife felt ill next day. Could be coincidence but rather try elsewhere.

A hidden treasure with excellent food, friendly service and an airy ambiance. We started with bruschetta classica, which we shared. I had spaghetti alla marinara which was very tasty and my friend had a vegetarian meal. The food was freshly cooked and looked and smelled amazing, It was well worth the money we paid.

This maybe just a door entry down a long corridor to a friendly, modern, spacious and clean restaurant, but once there the food is delicious and the service efficient and friendly.

“Wonderful Evening Meal” What a wonderful meal! The portions were very generous, the food was well prepared and presented. We had a lovely unhurried evening served with fabulous porn star cocktails! Our host Manjeet was exceptional.

Sadly agree that the customer service is very poor. They were confused with the drinks I wanted and took several attempts to get (almost) the right ones by which time I just had what I got! Wheat pasta when ordered gluten free resulting in one person having to wait for it to be cooked whilst we all had our main and even then the pasta was undercooked. We were sat under a heater? which became very hot at the end of the meal. And we weren’t told that they close at 10pm when booking, but were told just before 10pm that they were closing in 5-10 mins so we felt a little rushed. The food was good though, portions are big, unfortunately a few of us had Luke warm dishes. And we had a complimentary pudding which was a nice touch. The staff were nice albeit a little reserved. It was quite quiet after a while there which was surprising being a central town location. Perhaps the early closing puts people off? The table wasn’t cleared either so it was cluttered with empty glasses bottles etc for a while. Not sure we will return until the service is better.

I went there on Saturday. I didn't like the customer service at all. Lack of understanding and patience from the waiter, rushing us to order our mains. I was surprised they brought our main courses whilst we were still eating our starters, not good at all. No toilet paper in mens toilet. Food is good though

Food was terrible, I have been here many times in the past and had delicious food, but the staff all have changed, carbonara was tasteless, slow cooked pork had no flavour and the calzone had an exceptionally spicy sauce pored over it, if I’d wanted spicy Indian I’d have gone to an authenticate Indian restaurant, so very disappointed, I won’t be returning

There wasn't a single vegan main on the menu, but the restaurant kindly made my favourite pasta dish for me. Spaghetti aglio, olio and peperoncino . It was delicious

Good food and faster than most service.

Found this Italian place via Google search. Reviews seemed good, so booked it for a special event for 6 people. The entrance is a bit weird but the restaurant is much better. Food is good, specially the desserts. We were asked to give the table back even though the restaurant was hardly occupied. The hostesses was keen to bring our bill even though we said we might order a few more drinks. If you are in the neighborhood could try the place.

Love this place. Favourite Italian in St Alban's. Good food, good portions and quick service. Honestly a really good place to visit.

This was my 30th birthday celebration everything pre ordered 3 weeks in advance . We turnt up at 7 drinks took an hour so we went to the bar told we can’t order there starters all wrong 3 missinf , mains came 2 hrs after starters on average each round of drinks took 45 mins. 5 dinners sent back raw meat . Really bad experience for my birthday we came years ago and was Lovley they have since changed hands everyone around us other tables was complaining . We got a discount on bill and I felt so so sorry for the lady in charge as manager was on holiday she was called Arpita very professional felt so sorry for her as she we getting the brunt of her poor staff. Never ever again

Ordered via Deliveroo - Marinara was Luke warm and virtually no sea food. We have ordered this many times but the quality was shocking . Escalated to Deliveroo which was useless. Have deleted the app and won’t be back.

I went today with my friend on lunch time , and we were very disappointed after this visit. We were greeted by a chef who seated us at a table . The restaurant was empty and we had to wait for some to come to take our order . The waiter looked lost and he took a while to come to take our order. Carbonara was delicious , nice and creamy and a decent portion, but there’s plenty of other restaurants to choose from for a warmer welcome and a better service.

Went here on Saturday, the food was amazing and the cocktails were mind blowing! We had Pate and seabass and for drinks we had mango martini and espresso martini! The staff was soo friendly! The Halloween theme was soo wonderful! Definitely will visit again next weekend!

Visited this place on Friday at 8pm. Wasn't overly busy. The service is good, they we trying to help us with our requests. The food was OK and arrived quickly. We ordered cutlets, vegetarian risotto and halumi. Wine was good.

I have just been to Alloro for lunch with five girl friends. The food was excellent as were the friendly staff. Well done to you and thank you for a very enjoyable lunch. Will definitely return. (3rd October 2022)

Excellent food, excellent staff. Really enjoyed our family dinner. The vegetation ravioli and risotto were were to die for. They even made a customised pizza for our mum who is vegan.

We went for lunch with a couple of friends and found this restaurant hidden away. We ordered 2 pastas and one pizza with a garlic bread and it was delicious. Lovely service, great food, highly recommend.

We sat for 15 minutes waiting for anyone else to show up, which was eventually a solitary waitress. Drinks took another 10 minutes. The chef did kindly do some garlic bread and apologised. We ordered food and ask for starters first. The waitress then brought my daughters main out with the starters. This went back. When the mains arrived it was clear my daughters food had just sat keeping warm and brought back out after the starters. My main also wasn’t cooked very well and sent back. My wife and daughters did enjoy their meal though. This was not the birthday celebration we had hoped for!

Lunch at Alloro today after my son's graduation. I had the Gamberoni starter, Pasta Marinara for mains. Both taste great. Thank you sfor such beautiful food, for a beautiful day.

Excellent menu , food was amazing , but Goat cheese crostini salad was fab 10/10 . This was our first visit and won’t be our last, highly recommended.

This was our first visit (26/02/22) to Alloro for a couple of years – for obvious reasons. Whilst it looks like there has been a change of personnel and management, the quality of the food, the ambience, the service, was as before – exceedingly GOOD!...

Food was pretty good. But sadly the service was awful. Rushed us out of the restaraunt even though we had a reservation, 3 courses and were considering coffee but were thrown out! Will not return.

Visited for Valentines so the restaurant was very busy (as expected) however the standard of service wasn't really acceptable. We'd pre-booked a table so was seated very quickly however from there it very quickly went downhill. We'd ordered olives and bread for the table but they got delivered at the same time as the starter so we ended up with a very cramped table. We'd ordered Prosecco but the waiter poured most of it on the table as he didn't stop pouring when it bubbled over the sides. The main courses were 'ok', we've both been fans of Alloro but the food didn't seem as flavourful as before and the pizza my partner ordered was a sloppy mess and had far too much topping. The venue seemed to be struggling to cope with amount of covers that night. Hearing lots of people around you complaining to each other that they're still waiting for their food doesn't make for a relaxing night out. To top it off, a cupboard door near the till (and our table) kept falling down and making a loud bang every few minutes. Maybe spend a few quid and fix it? This might seem like a nit-picky review but there is a lot of choice in St Albans and Alloro used to be a great place to eat so it's disappointing to see their standards slip.

Shocking service. Waited 20 minutes just for our drinks and starters order to be taken and a further 30 minutes for the starters to arrive. Drinks took even longer somehow. Almost an hour after our starters arrived we still hadn't received our mains. It wasn't till we complained and said that we were going to leave that they conveniently arrived. The staff were unprofessional and seemed completely untrained which was a shame as the food was nice.

Visited here today for lunch with the wider family, travelled for 2h to get here and was incredibly happy with our pick. Very children friendly and we had 4, 7yo to 13weeks and the staff was really welcoming. Food was very tasty and diverse. As we were a larger party we had to preorder a day earlier, which took the stress of ordering out of it, which was nice. Very high quality food, service etc
