Overbooked the restaurant then rude to customers when they were arriving with pre booked reservations - won’t be going back.

Visited today again with a friend. The food is nice and please keep it that way but the service is appalling. The place was empty when me and my friend walked in. Once we sat down we waited quite a bit before someone appeared and still ignored us eventually we had to call him to be served. I’ve eaten in this pizzeria a good few times and always had the same problem. Service slacks. Please guys don’t run this place to the ground as your food is decent but the pizza is to die for. 👌👍

What a Gem. Have known of Zio’s for a while now, and I’m just annoyed I never went in sooner. Lovely decor and staff, very fresh pasta and pizza. 10/10. It’s not cheap, but it is fantastic. Will be going back soon.

The first time we ordered take out for delivery from here (shortly after it opened) it was sensational - literally the best pizza I've ever had. For a family get together I asked that we all get pizza from here. We went to collect, and while I appreciate having 8 pizzas ready at the same time and hot was a challenge, most people weren't that impressed. We tried for a third time a few days ago, and once again no one was especially happy. The salad was delicious, but carbonara was laden with pepper, my gorgonzola pizza had one (ONE! ) small chunk of gorgonzola on it, and Papi said his calzone was chewy and difficult to eat. Sadly, I doubt I will be able to convince anyone to get take out from here again. I just wish I could have that first pizza again, as I still think about it.

Great little Italian pizza house, used to be a chip shop. Pizza is cooked to order with a fired oven, great to have a proper "well done" pizza. Super friendly staff/chefs. Limited space and tables , so book early.. £4 for a bottle a still water when we asked for 2 glasses of water to go with our bottle of wine, felt a bit "gougy", so lost a * for that.

It has been long time to be in there. I came to Harpenden today and I just realized my experience in the restaurant. I found hair on my pizza when I mention this to my server, he did not do anything. Even he didnt suggest to replace my dish with new one. Such a bad experience. Needed to my review as I seen owner’s reply; your firts aim has to be customer experience. You need to polite with me. I can proof my purchase with bank transaction. I dont think so I am alzheimer. And definately I will leave my review here to be sure everyone aware of your place hygine level.

Booked for dinner in the evening. Beers arrived - Peroni in Moretti glasses. Starters arrived and were great. Then the mains arrived, asked if we needed anything else, we requested cutlery. Unfortunately the standard of food was poor. Was not restaurant standard food, as in if you are paying, it should be of a high standard and certainly not below average. Mixed mushroom linguine, was a mix of just 2 types of mushroom and were sparse in the dish. The lasagne was incredibly bland and tasteless, unseasoned, really poor effort. Shame.

I was disappointed with my Linguine Al Tartufo, which didn’t have a trace of truffle flavour and no evidence of the truffle pesto which was supposed to be an ingredient. I asked for more truffle oil which didn’t add any truffle flavour. I tasted the truffle oil on its own and it tasted of plain EVOO. My truffle oil at home is worlds apart. My daughters pizza was delicious though, the surroundings were nice, great service. I might be back but definitely not for truffles!

Fabulous pasta and pizza menu, the latter being beautifully prepared by Sadiq before your very eyes.And, of course, their Risotto is freshly made too, so please be prepared to wait! Desserts include a wonderful Pistachio Tartufo.It’s a small but perfect Italian restaurant. Do visit: you will not be disappointed.

4,5. Very good pizza. The doe is great. Not giving 5 stars just because it isn’t the best pizza I have had. To a non Italian person this should definitely be a 5 star place if you want authentic Italian pizza.

Basic pizza and a gluten free margarita pizza. Shocked to find out the gluten free one was £4 more just for a base. Gluten free was nice but expensive, even more than London.

Friendly and helpful staff, lovely food. Pizza dough is so much better than the other pizza places in Harpenden. Aubergine starter was delicious too. One of the party had the Chicken Milanese and it was fresh, lovely crunchy coating and spaghetti done just right.

Been several times and has never disappointed. Yes it is small and cosy but that adds to the lovely atmosphere. The pizzas are freshly made in front of you, including the dough, and are cooked in the wood fired pizza oven . The Penne Arrabiata was really tasty and I would definitely have it again. One of the best places to eat in Harpenden if you are looking for character and authenticity and just fresh tasty food.

Best Pizza in Harpenden. The pizzas were freshly cooked and tasted amazing It felt like I was back in Italy. The staff were full of smiles and were very attentive. We did go on a Tuesday evening and even then the restaurant was full so make sure you book in advance. Overall highly recommend!

We stumbled on Zio's after another restaurant was closed and we realised we really felt like pizza. What a fantastic little gem of a place. The sit-down restaurant is small, but really well-appointed, clean and bright, with good air con too. I suspect they do a rocking delivery / takeout trade because the pizzas were going into the oven and out of the door really quickly (but unobtrusively). We all had pizzas that were absolutely divine. Thin, crispy bases, generous, good quality toppings, very nice staff and fairly-priced. We'll definitely be back!

On Thursday night, we had dinner at Zio’s Pizzeria restaurant. The restaurant food was excellent and the waiters were polite. This restaurant serves Italian food and unique Italian pizzas. By Mr. Sadegh, a super professional pizza maker. as well as seafood that specializes in cooking and serving fish and king prawns. I suggest you visit this restaurant.

We went to Zio’s for the first time for lunch on Father’s Day. The pizza was deliciously fluffy and light, and pastas really good. And the staff couldn’t have been sweeter with my toddler, and the service was excellent. We’ll definitely be back!

Popped in here this evening for my husbands birthday and had the fabulous pizzas. So delicious and the cosy restaurant as well as the friendly and welcoming staff made us feel like we were in Italy. Like a big hug in a restaurant! This is a hidden gem. Recommend to everyone.

We shared a pizza and salad for dinner at Zio's Pizzeria. They were both delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive. Our table was in an awkward spot as people had to squeeze past my chair.

We visited after a friend recommended going for the best pizza around. Unfortunately we found it to be below average, the descriptions are very accurate (I can tell the difference between roasted mushrooms and canned ones), and for goodness sake, the menu was so full of spelling mistakes, it actually gave me a headache to read it! Service was also very slow, even with only 6 tables to serve, the second starter arrived well after the 1st was finished, and it took more than half an hour to get the bill and finally leave. Overall there is a lot to improve, but at least they have at least 1 (very lovely) Italian waitress, which gained them an extra star on this review

Authentic Neapolitan style pizza! It’s hard to find, I think this is the only one in harpenden and the surrounding areas. Great choice of pizza and pasta and lovely staff. Prices are reasonable and the ambiance of the restaurant is very calming.

Took more than 2 hours to deliver our order and had to phone 5 times for an update and was told it was 20mins away every time. Super frustrating as they advertise delivery in 20mins but this is not true.

I would love to say this restaurant has the right atmosphere if you’re looking for quiet and lovely meal to enjoy in Harpenden, obviously not in weekends rush hour as the restaurant has a small floor. Pizza is made respectful the Neapolitan tradition using only sour dough risen 24 hours & kitchen dishes are made properly by Italians. Who don’t like this restaurant is guilty and don’t deserve to be welcomed inside this little gem into the heart of Harpenden .

Where doni start!! The service was terrible between a rude lady and 2 men. Also they use the same pizza cutter for vegetarian or meat. They man also kept touching the pizza while cutting it with his dirty hands after touching his noise and mouth. I can assure you I will never walk even near this place!

Ordered a takeaway for my daughter's 21st birthday a pizza with a very burnt base. Unfortunately, it was too late to call them back. Bit of a shame, the other pizzas were OK but wouldn't risk it again.

Yes, the place might be small. However, when I visit, it’s really not that busy! In my mind, this is a hidden gem that’s in plain sight! Coming off the train after a long day, this place simply delivers on authentic and flavoursome dishes. It really is a taste sensation! Today, I had a beautiful red wine with the Masi calzone. A little greedy, I also had a desert and coffee; the flavours simply continued! Can’t wait to come back and try more from this menu!

In my opinion, a pizzeria should be judged on their Margherita which is what I ordered. Sadly, the lack of seasoning in their Napoli sauce along with lonely two basil leaves on top let these guys down. For nearly £11 for the pizza, this one should be a miss I’m afraid if the basics can’t be nailed.

When thinking about celebrating an anniversary, this restaurant will always be our first and best option from now on. My wife and I have just celebrated our third-year anniversary in this restaurant, which presented us with such an incredible and fantastic moment. First and foremost, I am so grateful to the gentleman and lady, who were the restaurant managers and willing to go out their way to ensure that we had an unforgettable night. Aside from that, this place is emergent with an awesome vibe, and everyone is also really pleasant to meet the customers' satisfaction. Finally, we experienced one of the best Italian pastas and pizzas we'd ever had in an Italian restaurant. The drinks were also amazing and beautifully served. I would like to give a Big 5 Star to the restaurant as well as the management team, who helped us to make such an amazing night.

First time here and lovely fresh pizza made in wooden pizza oven

Visited last night for the first time. I’m Italian from a town not far from Naples. I had Margherita and it looked and tasted very authentic just like the one at home. Although the town was very busy from the Xmas lights switch on we had a great meal in Zio’s we waited a bit to be served but it was fine. The staff did their best to serve us soon and they were very friendly and nice. Please keep up the good work it’s so nice to have something like this in our town. Hopefully you will expand upstairs. We will be back and I’m gonna try other dishes on the menu 😁👌

Food was ok, but 2 of the dishes were very spicy, much spicier than I would expect from an Italian restaurant.

45 minutes waiting time for pizza and pasta… pizza was cold and pasta tasted like tomato sauce blended with tuna. Staff was making fun from customers thinking that they cannot understand Italian.

Amazing, delicious and authentic pizza. We visited here for our daughters 8th birthday. The service was amazing. They spoilt our daughter with a birthday cake and candle without us asking. Our son wanted his pizza early as he was hungry and they brought it for him super quickly to accommodate us. Highly recommend for families, delicious food and a lovely atmosphere. Thank you!

Great authentic pizza. The other food lacked seasoning and timing of food delivery needs a lot of work when dining in. Table of 4 - all drinks arrived separately. Same for starters and main courses. Tables are crammed in and it’s not a great experience - honestly, sorry. Staff seem like great people and work hard. Needs to either focus on takeaway or up it’s game for diners.

I visited this place as the burger shop opposite was closed. I was invited in with a warm welcome. The pizza was made fresh in front of me and was served to me very quickly. The pizza was one of the best I’ve ever had! Great service, delicious pizza and warm hospitality; nothing was too much trouble. I’ll be back!

Newly opened, Zio’s is great for traditional wood fired pizza and pasta dishes. Something for every taste. Good value and friendly service.

Pizza was great, but the Saturday evening was spoilt as we were effectively kicked out. We arrived at 20:15 and asked for table for two. We were given a table for two in the corner by the waitress. Pizza arrived shortly after ordering. We hadn’t even finished our meal when the waitress told us we had to leave in 5 mins as the table was reserved and we had already been in the the pizzeria for over an hour. What? It was 20:45. And as soon as I put my last piece of pizza in the mouth, the ordered desert was put on the table and the patron slammed the bill the bill next to it with the card machine in hand. I have seldom be so disappointed by restaurant service. We were last to arrive and first to go. 1 star for the pizza, minus 4 for the service. If you want a relaxed evening dinner for two, go elsewhere.
