Allangrange Arms in Highland

Fab decor, lovely vibe, Very friendly staff, We visited on Easter Sunday and had the Sunday roast. I had the roast beef which was slightly disappointing due to it not being hot and raw brocoli. Mother in law ordered the chicken roast which she said was lovely. Portions were big and reasonably priced and it was busy when we visited. Would definitely go back

Staying nearby, we visited twice during the week - it was excellent both times. Lovely place, friendly, efficient staff and lovely food. Special mention for the Sunday Lunch, but everything we had there was excellent quality.

Very disappointed, usually have excellent meals here but tonight was very different. Booked table for 7.30pm and was told the specials in a rushed manner before we even had a chance to take our seats so didn’t even catch what they were. Asked the next waitress we came across and she didn’t know what the specials were but advised us there would be a “bit of a wait for food”. After 10 minutes we eventually gave our drinks order. Didn’t receive our starters until around half 8 and our mains didn’t arrive until 9pm over an hour and a half after first seating. The meals when they were half thrown onto the table, were luke warm. Many of the waitresses were standing around the central bar area chatting and gossiping rather than working so we had to go up to the bar to re-order our drinks as they had been forgotten about. Due to slow service we were the last patrons in the restaurant. Likely won’t be back which is a real shame as we have had previously excellent meals here, excellent service and the restaurant usually has a really relaxing atmosphere. We were out for a birthday meal but would have preferred to go elsewhere.

Had a very disappointing Sunday lunch here. 4 roast dinners were piled on a large wooden platter for us to distribute ourselves. It was difficult to share the absolute dearth of vegetables evenly (e.g 3 pieces of broccoli). The roast beef came in strange inedible cubes, and the only gravy for the chicken was beef! We complained twice, once at the table and then again at the table, but disappointingly, the management team did their best to avoid addressing our concerns. Shame, since we’ve had previously good meals.

Our starters took 40 minutes to arrive and then another 40 minutes for the mains. Our waitress was very apologetic and her positive attitude and attentiveness during this wait is the only reason I havent given a 1 star rating. I ordered a chicken chimichanga and my friend ordered the vegan version. Unfortunately these were plated incorrectly as the chicken was missing from mine and this was only noticed once my friend was over half way through their meal as I'd started eating my side dish first. Despite it not being listed on the menu my friend had assumed his vegan one included a mock chicken 🙃 We know this was a mistake from the kitchen and not our food runner as there was sour cream on my plate which wouldnt have been suitable with the vegan version. My friend luckily isn't actually vegan or have any allergies or this could have been a much bigger issue for this establishment. I didn't bother to raise this during our visit as we'd already waited so long for the food and honestly I felt a bit bad for how rushed all the front of house staff seemed. I ended up leaving half of my chimichanga as it was just over flowing with peppers (probably to make up for the lack of alternative fillings) and so this made it too spicy for my palate. My friend really enjoyed the chicken one though and said it wasnt even that spicy so I guess there's that as a positive 😅

We have been coming to The Allangrange Arms for years but after our recent experience we will not be back. Soups were warmish, 4 out of our 5 main dishes had to be sent back as they were all cold we then had to wait 20-30 minutes for the dishes to be returned to us. My father in law had to send his duck away as he could not even cut into it and that was after us asking for a steak knife. Also a Christmas pudding was ordered and did not come. I could have understood if it was busy however it was not when we arrived there was hardly anyone in and only a couple of tables in later. Such a shame as it was one of our favourite places.

Had an evening meal here last night and whilst the food was nice we were disappointed with the time it took on arriving at our table - over one hour… The staff attending the tables were busy enough and very pleasant. Nice atmosphere within the hotel .

Myself and my partner are local to the area and have enjoyed many meals at the allangrange before. However we have recently visited and we were greatly disappointed by the size of portion we received in comparison to the price we paid for our meals. I ordered macaroni and cheese where I received 6 chips in total and my partner ordered an underwhelming sized burger which he ate in 4 bites followed by again an underwhelming amount of chips. Given that each meal cost around £15/£16 I was very dissatisfied to be left hungry after finishing my full meal. Unfortunately this was to take away and I wasn’t able to raise my concerns about the lack of food we received so this has brought me to right this review. It’s disheartening as we love this pub to take the dog along and have the odd pint but since the new chef’s have taken charge of the kitchen we would not return for food again.

Friendly welcome from the staff , the lady explained right away that they were very busy but can take our table if we understand it might be a little wait. We certainly didn’t have to wait long at all it was brilliant service and tasty food the serving staff are all very attentive. The décor and ambience of the restaurant was top class. Had a huge bowl of Scottish Mussels Soup with fries today for the first time, Just few minutes drive from the cottage we ate staying. Nice & potion are goods as according to my family members.

Long wait for food, an hour and 20 minutes from ordering. We only ordered a main course. Despite advertising that they did gluten free meals - this was very poor. Choice of two main course - Moules or a Beef dish. Beef dish was most expensive on menu and meant to have potato dauphinois but these were substituted, as not GF (despite being advertised as GF on menu) for a few boiled potatoes - without being advised of this happening. A very expensive dish for not much on the plate. Drinks took 20 mins from ordering. Poor waitress kept apologising to everyone. We had booked. Partners food was plentiful and he enjoyed, but after a long day not getting food until almost 9pm was ridiculous. Dutch group beside were equally weary waiting. Lovely setting but obviously far too many covers for the kitchen to cope with. We did complain politely at the time but this was ignored. I don’t write bad reviews but what was meant to be a lovely night left a bitter taste. Looked at lunch menu / couldn’t see any GF choices. Don’t advertise you do GF if it is a token gesture. No obvious front of house management- seemed to be staffed by lots of teenagers/young folk, who were very pleasant but added to the lack of control and organisation. There was also live music in the bar which was overwhelmingly loud for a restaurant setting.

Read the great reviews and whilst we were on holiday in the area, we decided to try it. We were not disappointed. Even though it was a Sunday evening and we had not booked a table, we were greeted by a very friendly lady who took us to a table. The restaurant and staff are lovely. Great menu choice, kids menu and the food was delicious. The portions were so good, we didn’t have room for dessert. If you are in the area and looking for a great place to eat, definitely try The Allangrange.

Lovely hotel, nicely decorated, great food, very busy with locals which is always a good sign. Plenty outside eating areas as well, great on nice days/evenings. Room was comfortable and a decent size, they don't do breakfast but left some breakfast bars and small porridge pots in room each day. Nice unexpected but thoughtful touch. Only down side for me was mattress could have been a bit comfier, perhaps a topper would do the trick, otherwise great value, service and cleanliness. Definitely worth a stop if you're on the Black Isle.

Great food… lovely ambiance… impeccable service… good value. What’s not to like! If they have it on the menu, do try the Venison - very succulent and tender. Shame they had run out of Langoustine, we’ll just have to go back. If on the Black Isle or in and around Inverness, we’ll worth a visit (but could you wait until our holiday is over as we’d be gutted if we couldn’t get a table!

Fantastic find for an early evening meal with family and dog on the way out from Rosemarie after a day at the beach. We’d seen it was on option for dogs on the Sunday before, but we decided against it because the ‘red wine jus’ instead of gravy on the roast might not have suited everyone in our party; but that wasn’t an issue on a Thursday so we stopped off hoping they’d have a table! Dogs naturally allowed only in bar or beer garden but both are very nice. We were sat in a booth in the large bar. As described it’s a gastro pub, so above average pub prices, but the food is a world away from the pub chain fare we often get when the dog is in tow; good comprehensive menu, freshly prepared and locally sourced across a variety of the dishes we ordered. Kids found out about the football pitch on the park behind just as we were leaving, so we could have relaxed there for a bit longer while they played! Busy when we were leaving at about 8pm, so I’ll book next time.

What a mixture of a pub. My venison was just wonderful and some of the seafood enjoyed by my wife was excellent.We were here with friends while visiting the Black Isle. The service was pretty slow and nervous and then we had to be asked to move tables because it was so dark where we were sitting (at 5.30pm).This is an ok pub but not great.

Booked a table online for an evening meal for 5 in this dog friendly bar. Made very welcome by lovely friendly staff. The young lady brought our dog some water and a wee tumbler of dog biscuits. Order was placed and arrived in a very timely manner. Absolutely delicious - dishes to suit a variety of tastes. Hand cut chips were crispy and fluffy. Everyone in our party loved their dinner - served promptly with a smile! Highly recommend this lovely venue. Definitely book ahead as it was bustling and busy midweek. Would not hesitate to revisit! Sunday Lunch. Bit underwhelming overall. Ordered Soup of the day. Was not very hot and no bread with it. Asked for some and received 4 very small pieces with no butter. Charged £1.50 for the extra. Halloumi was ok. Ordered the Roast Beef. Waitress stated it could be plated rather than served on a wooden board and shared between 2. It wasn’t delivered as we had asked. Beef was ok, tender but dry in parts as was the black pudding. Potatoes and vegetables very bland. Saw the owner/manager walking about but he made no attempt at pleasantries other than to some people he obviously knew. The serving staff were mainly young and were very pleasant and efficient. We felt we had to wait too long between courses. I don’t think we will return. Shame but not worth the £50

Booked here for a meal whilst holidaying on the Black Isle . Great menu, friendly staff, covid regs adhered to. Yes service was a bit slow , not excessively so though, we weren’t in a hurry so didn’t affect us. I guess times are hard in the hospitality industry just now ,so was pleased to support this business. Every dish was beautifully presented and very tasty. Would recommend a visit .

Totally misleading information. On the Tripadvisor website it states it sells Real Ales. It has a photograph with a hand pump on the bar. Outside the front door it has a CaskMarque shield indicating Cask (real ale) beer kept to a high standard. Called today. No cask beer, no hand pump and staff who didn’t understand the concept. Very very poor. No apology/explanation. If you want cask beer, rather than carbonated by Co2 keg beer, then I suggest you avoid the place.

Started well, temperature taken the door, friendly welcome, unfortunately it’s just went a bit downhill from there..20 min wait for drinks, had to be chased twice whilst everyone around us received there’s.Starters took half an hour, had to send the garlic bread back as I asked for no cheese. Main course then took a further hour to arrive… Sausage and chips for my daughter was good, my beef rib was ok (I asked for mash, got chips! Was too hungry to send back, so that’s on me) Mussels where very good. However, the langoustines where a disaster! They turned up closed and really very difficult to open, we all tried to open them, but couldn’t. We asked the waitress for help who actually suggested going on google to find out! This was all bought to the manager and owners attention who where very apologetic and took the langoustines off of the bill, and who advised us that they should of been taken back for the chef to peel. All a bit too little, too late though I’m afraid.

Myself and a couple of friends visited The Allangrange on Monday evening, we could not fault the food, service or the overall restaurant vibe. I had the vegan fish and chips, which was insane so tasty and is so different to anything else offered in the area. The rest of the party also had very tasty meals. Drinks and desserts were also bang on, they even had vegan friendly ice cream! The service was fantastic, all the waitresses on that evening were so attentive, friendly and helpful. Well done! A true gem, we will be back time and time again. Fantastic place, thank you for an enjoyable evening!

Judging by other reviews on this restaurant we must have just had an unlucky experience the evening we went for a meal at the Allangrange so do try for yourselves.I ordered a starter as a main with a portion of chips and one of my party ordered a steak with a bowl of soup as a main - unfortunately the soup and my meal arrived as starters - no steak, no chips. We waited and waited for the rest of the food to appear, my friend finally had her soup and I went to find our waitress - she said she would sort it but no one came back to us until her soup was finished and they thought I had not been happy with my dish as it was untouched while I waited for my chips! My starter was eventually joined by the chips, the steak and the other main that had been ordered - we all enjoyed the food and fortunately my food was okay eaten cold.Unfortunately the Eton Mess I ordered for pudding was difficult to eat as it was a whole meringue perched on a thick pile of double cream served in a glass which was too small - so the mess was me trying to eat it!Dropped ice cubes were left on the floor and table cleaning was a little lacking.This was not a cheap evening and I feel the experience could have been better.

Had our 1st visit to the Allangrange today as fancied a bit of lunch. We opted for an outside table as the weather was good but had it not been then it was fine as the seating area was covered and had heaters too. Extensive menu from light bites to Sunday Roasts. We chose the fish goujons and the steak n cheese ciabatta both served with a lovely salad and the fish served with lovely chips. Both dishes delicious and would highly recommend.

I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve ever received such a warm welcome from a hospitality venue. My son and I were made to feel so at home by the genuinely lovely staff, I was sad we couldn’t have stayed for longer. If you’re passing do drop by, even if it’s just for a quick ice cream. This is a rare gem of a pub and one that deserves to succeed.

We have just had 2 of the most amazing pizzas from Fired Up at The Allangrange in Munlochy.The base of the pizza was very light and the crust was nice and crispy. The tang and flavour of the tomato sauce was perfect. Topped with some fluffy mozzarella cheese these pizzas we absolutely delicious.Our girls loved them and we also had a side of skin on, thick cut chips which were the perfect side to this easy Thursday evening meal.My family and I highly recommend that you try the pizzas from Fired-Up. We were very impressed and look forward to next Thursday.

Took advantage of bogof Pizzas for a lazy Thursday evening. The new car park based shack served up pre-ordered pizzas that were generously topped, sizzling hot and perfectly seared on the woodfire. Recommended, especially the delicious pulled pork version. Try it!

Had a wonderful outside lunch here today; Starters - haggis pakora, duck confitMains - roast beef, chicken Milanese, pork belly & short ribsSides - onion rings & chipsPuddings - blondie, fudge cheesecake & sticky toffee puddingCan honestly say that both the food and the service here were just faultless. It’s rare to go out nowadays and all the folk eating think their meal was perfect & lovely tasting.We sat outside and were kept warm by the big barrel but were told outside heating is coming soon! The food is excellent,the staff are excellent, especially Andy, the only thing was, on the visit the place was a little on the cold side, apart from the temperature the place is really awesome.

Great food good selection of beers had the sirloin steak cooked to perfection best steak I've had for years went with family and friends all had a great time staff were all brilliant would recommend this hotel to anyone give it a try you will not be disappointed
