Comfort and rooms and location all excellent If this place slips up it’s in the restaurant The evening meal tries to cater for all with burgers and then attempts at classier dishes. Make your mind up! At the prices charged the food needs better cheffing and a better menu. The pure comedy gold was breakfast! A full Scottish breakfast was advertised with Haggis, and local Scottish sausages to add to the pure authenticity of this £15 treat! I ordered it and declined the bacon, and asked for extra Scottish sausage. After some mishearing I picked poached egg of the 3 choices available The waiter confirmed poached with a question, and after I again confirmed my choice he mutters “ Unusual!” 2 minutes later he returns to say there is “ No Haggis” Naturally disappointed I still had much to look forward to! Ten minutes late my plate arrives. Egg, black pudding, and tomatoes. I comment that my sausage appeared to have escaped. The waiter then commented “oh there is no sausage, we are waiting a delivery” What buffoonery! Does the chef not communicate with the waiters. To make things worse, we saw other people asking for the “ Full Scottish” and they were never told there was nothing Scottish to deliver. No Haggis. No sausage. Fawlty Towers at its best. The laughs exceeded the disappointment, fortunately! All a bit amateur though!

My friend and I ate here for our final night in Skye. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. We had two waitresses as one was training and both were excellent. They always made sure we had anything we might need. The vibe is upscale but relaxed. The restaurant was pretty quiet when we were there which was nice because I hate crowded loud restaurants. It picked up a little as the night went on. It was a little bit of a drive from our B&B near Uig and it is on one of the many single lane roads on the island. Definitely recommend for nice night out with friends or for couples. Oh my friend had the french martini and it was phenomenal, a must try.

We are just returning from a three night stay at Greshornish House Hotel and a truly wonderful and very luxurious mini break at this marvellous hotel. From start to finish, all staff could not have been more helpful and very professional although at the same time, being very friendly and going above and beyond. The location is perfect for a true getaway and the hotel itself is very well maintained and in scottish/classic design; stunning dinning room, bar, lounge area with huge wooden fire and billiard room all to enjoy. Our room, Mull, was perfect and so clean and well equipped. Beautiful 4 poster bed and it had just been fitted with a lovely new beige carpet and stunning dark wooden furniture; all very tasteful. Room service was so attentive too and we always came back to an immaculately maintained room. Food at this hotel is very good, starting with a delicious breakfast where you can have fresh fruit pots, yogart with honey or chai seeds and smoothies too, cold meats, cheeses; that's just for starters!!! Then a cooked breakfast from a very big choice of items catering for vegan, gf and vegetarian diets. Yet again, nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful staff. The two girls serving were so chatty and cheerful and so helpful too, a delight at all times. We had dinner on two nights and this didn't disappoint; very well presented, flavourful and delicious starters, mains and yes we even managed a scrumptious chocolate fondant pudding one night!!! We shall be returning for definite and probably the same time next year as we had the best weather, snowy and cold; Greshornish Hotel and surrounding Skye looked beautiful. Loved every part of our stay and please disregard any negative comments for this hotel as they are just simply not warranted.

Food was nice but staff were rude and condescending. We requested an item to go for a relative who was not well and were laughed at by the waiter. After they reluctantly agreed he then loudly shouted the wrong order to the chef in-front of us, most likely to make it further known that he was not happy with our request, (he didn’t shout anyone else’s order to the chef…). When we clarified the order he was rude and dismissive. Service prior to this was very slow. Whilst a waitress spent 20mins chatting with another table who had received their orders we were waiting for our drinks orders to be taken and plates to be removed. Would not recommend.

We were not staying in the hotel but booked to dine there. Six of us , quite good food, good service. Expensive but pleasant. We booked for another night. The first evening we had been told we would have the table from 6 till 8 and that was fine. The second evening we were told we would have the table from 7 o'clock. No end time limit given. We wandered into the restaurant with no idea we were delaying anyone, about 12 minutes after 7..A waiter took our drinks order and some time went by. After about 15 minutes the owner /manager suddenly appeared and when we asked about our drinks launched into a tirade which when we remonstrated with him about his rudeness concluded with " I might now ask you to leave premises". This was said to a family group including two youngsters, who had spent about £300 there the previous evening. We were dumbfounded and could not understand why he was so angry. Because we had children with us and it would have been difficult to find another restaurant that evening we stayed on and ate our meal in a most unfestive atmosphere.. This was not only the low point in our otherwise enjoyable holiday but the only time any of the four adults had ever experienced such unpleasant, offensive and aggressive behaviour as customers in a restaurant. When we had paid our very large bill I asked him politely why he had behaved so nastily towards us and he said it was because we were late . I explained that he had not made it clear that we must be strictly punctual and his response was that we were not residents and he "didn't have to do outside tables". What a pain for him to have to make close on £600 from "outside guests" and how on earth did he imagine his behaviour was appropriate?I would not advise anyone to dine in the restaurant and risk an encounter with such an unpleasant person.

My daughter treated me to afternoon tea here today. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who showed us into the lounge where there was a beautiful roaring fire. We chose coffee to drink and a large cafetiere was brought with the promise of more when wanted it. Then a large selection of pies and sausage rolls, two huge scones with fresh raspberries and cream and various chocolate cakes. Everything tasted amazing. We couldn't manage it all but what was left was boxed up to take home. I cannot recommend this place too highly and it is in a beautiful setting even on a rainy February day. So glad we went!

Had two very good meals here, the hosts were friendly, welcoming - we had some special dietary requirements which were dealt with very attentively - not always the case in restaurants! The meals were freshly prepared and locally sourced, very good quality. I would say however that the portions weren't overly generous - I felt satisfied at the end of the meal, but a few more veg etc wouldn't have gone amiss. Service was excellent, friendly but not overbearing at all. Good wine selection too. It's certainly an individual type of place, but one which I'd happily re-visit. I can't say anything about accommodation as i didn't stay here, but it's a very peaceful & beautiful location.

For the price and description, we expected good quality gourmet meal. However, the food was not even average but below average. Overcooked meat, plain presentation - I would say it was more pub-style food, for the price of a gourmet restaurant. The service & setting was nice, quite formal and in line with the higher pricing... too bad the actual food completely let them down.We were hoping for a romantic nice meal, but were so disappointed. We have had some wonderful meals in Scotland in other places, so we know what can be had and what the standard are. I prefer to share positive experiences, however in this case I feel other travellers should be aware of what to expect to avoid being disappointed like we were.

We stumbled onto the Greshornish House (restaurant) thanks to Marie at the Spoons B&B. There were not many restaurants open during our recent trip (late March) and we were grateful that Neil & Rosemary were willing to let us dine with the only other couple staying that night. We explored the grounds a bit before dinner, and as with most of Skye, the views were stunning, but slightly different than other parts of the island. We were welcomed in for a glass of wine & ordered, then proceeded to the formal dining room for dinner. The server that night was very friendly, and we enjoyed a good steak and Minch Ling entrees. We then had a nice post-dinner conversation with Neil over a couple cappuccinos. We had a memorable evening, the food was very good, the wine was exceptional, and we would recommend for a nice dinner whilst on Skye.

Pretentious and snooty couple. Amateurs who are trying to run their business and failing miserably to show any kind of welcome in the Highlands. Worst experience we have had in Scotland. My partner and myself were travelling from Wales to Scotland on our holidays. We love Scotland and try to go there every year. That time we were coming back from Harris and Lewis and stopped in Greshornish House on the way back from the ferry crossing. Our ferry was delayed so we arrived to the place later then we expected only to be told that we had to be seated for dinner within ten minutes. We just dropped our bags in the room , which was nice but a bit shabby and needed updating, and went straight downstairs. There was mayhem in the bar as all the guests were there trying to get a drink. It appeared that the owners asked everyone to come downstairs at the same time for their convenience of serving dinner. The menu itself was good with a lot of local produce. The portions though were very small. We got through three courses in no time and still were hungry. When the cheese board arrived we asked for " couple of more biscuits " and we got exactly what we asked for- two tiny biscuits on a tea plate between us!!! Tight!!!!By the time we finished our dinner all the seats in the drawing room were taken so walked into the snooker room next door. It was messy and full of personal items. We felt very uncomfortable .Breakfast was fine, no problems. We were really looking forward to staying on the Isle of Skye and it was going to be the highlight of the holiday . However it was the most disappointing night in Scotland. In summary our most expensive place to stay and the worst of the trip.

All products are local, fresh and the quality is excellent. We had a rabbit liver pâté that was very soft and foamy, the linguine with scallops, langoustine and Skye's mussels were also at the top. But our favourite was definitely the plate of local cheese: from soft to strong, cow or ship, creamy or dry ... you name it. Add to all of the above a very diverse wine menu and you have a wonderful romantic dinner.

We had tried to call at the Greshomish House Hotel 2 years ago at the end of October... but it was closed for the winter, so tried it on the off chance in May. At first the lady of the house was a little off-hand - "do you want to eat or just a drink - if it's to eat, we've just squeezed four in, so you will be lucky" - but after settling down in the comfy chairs,. she warmed & said there was room for the two of us... but there was no lamb left! Not a problem, we said we'd eat... which was a great decision...There were only two of the three starters on, but both were fab - kedegree that my wife had... & liver parfait with oatcakes that I had, and were delicious. We both then had the "fish" main course (the lamb was off!) - as, it turned out was the salmon - but the chef russled up some fantastic dover sole, with the scallops and extras that were with the salmon... & it was delicious! Just two desserts - warm chocolate cake with chocolate sauce and ice cream (which I had - fab); and fresh fruit salad and raspberry sorbet that my wife had (so fresh - fantastic). We washed it down with a bottle of Chilean Merlot, which with bar drinks, came to £100... which seemed about right. The husband host was lovely - very chatty & even gave us a complimentary glass of champagne, as it was our honeymoon. His wife, as above, but pleasant enough & I think just worried that our experience would not be perfect, with so many non-residents turning up on spec! The dining room was lovely, but formal & the other diners were done by 9pm, which affected the atmosphere somewhat. All of that said, I would recommend this restaurant - the food was lovely, the service courteous & I am sure if we had pre-booked it would have been a perfect 5. The location is beautiful. For Skye to have so many special restaurants says a lot about the place, so definitely add this to your list...

We just spent 2 nights at Greshornish . It was a lovely experience in a beautiful setting. We had a relaxed evening in front of the open fire . The following day we explored the garden and surrounding area where there is a great walk around the headland. Both dinner and breakfast were delicous. Everything was presented with style, nice little touches such as the homemade shortbread on arrival. The homemade marmalade is the best I have ever tasted.Thank you

Just like Faulty Towers. There were notes on everything. 'dont shower without the window open' 'dont pull the curtains shut, use the mechanism' When we asked if we could have our wine and cheese in the room we were told that 'the mice would be a problem and that couldn't abide this' The food was ok the setting great. Brilliantly for this review the owners moaned about Trip Advisor and moaned about bad people writing and effecting their business. I would not rush back.....

Lovely looking hotel, great location, but inside smelt of dirty wet dogs and old wellingtone, it was cold and smelt damp and the food was poor - nothing wrong with it, just boring and tasteless. We went for my birthday and we were were bitterly disappointed.

We didn't stay at the hotel but decided to eat in the restaurant on a Sunday evening in Sept 2008.Not only did the experience cost the two of us £100 the food was some of the worst that I ever been served. My partner had Guinea Fowl, foul being the word and I had the smallest and dried up Dover Sole, covered in large lumps of garlic, drowning in butter. The rest of the meal proved to be just a bad. If you want a decent meal in Skye drive up the road to the Three Chimneys or head down to Clair MacDonalds.

The Fish and Chip Shop is in our experience is without a doubt the BEST IN CAITHNESS AND SUTHERLAND! The fish was white and flakes. fried in beautiful crispy batter and the chips were perfect. We have experienced other Chip Shops in Wick,Thurso and Helmsdale, plus Mobile Chip Vans in Lybsterand Dunbeath and this has been the best so far too. We travelled around 30 miles to eat here and would do so again. THANK YOU.

After poor experiences in Oban and Fort William this place restored our faith in a Scottish breakfast and hospitality. Great service, even better breakfast made with quality ingredients.

Très agréable situation entre 2 ballades, service très prévenant. Des plats typiques, abordables. Le top après une journée de tourisme.

Tasty food with a great view of Lochness. The staff are lovely and they have a good selection of whisky. Good value 3 course meal deal.
