This was our first trip and certainly won’t be our last! We went for our son’s birthday and enjoyed the traditional afternoon tea and the ploughman’s afternoon tea. What a treat! The food was amazing and plentiful at such a reasonable price! Give this place a try!

Lovely tea rooms, very friendly. This was our second visit, we have now been for both lunch and breakfast. Will definitely be a regular place for us as we have family nearby. Was great with our little one as well, no judgement when she was being a little loud playing and staff super friendly.

Called in for lunch when passing through Alfreton. Very friendly and welcoming proprietor. Excellent food at very resonable prices and a proper pot of tea. The panini with salad is bigger than you might expect! Thank you for a good lunch.

We have never had an afternoon tea from Alfreton House Tearooms before and were.looking forward to it. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and they cater for all/most people. Even though I was dairy free, there was a healthy choice of savouries and sweets. We were impressed.

We came here yesterday, six of us to celebrate a birthday. We had a mix of traditional afternoon tea and winter ones. Mine was gluten free and amazing. Sandwiches, crisps, salad, scone with clotted cream and jam, carrot cake, lemon drizzle cake and rocky Road served with a massive pot of tea, all for 12 pounds. Can't rave about this place enough. The staff were fabulous.

Delicious Afternoon Tea. You get a choice of cake, which is great - much better than when just given any. Staff are fantastic, welcoming and friendly. The tearooms are cute but smaller than I expected. Make sure you book beforehand or you’d be disappointed. Parking right by here so great for those with limited mobility. Will look forward to a return visit!

What a lovely little tearoom. We saw the autumn afternoon tea advertised £10 in September. £12 after. Definitely worth the money. A choice of toasted sandwiches, 2 soups to choose from, salad, crisps, cheese scone and a choice of cake. All well presented. The scone and cake were very fresh. Will definitely return. I would advise booking as it’s not a big place

The food and choices were very good. Couple of points to the restaurant though. Everything was brought out together I.e. toasted sandwich, soup, scone, cake and hot drink However, by the time we had eaten the sandwich the soup was only lukewarm and the hot drink was the same. We were going to ask for another drink and pay extra for it but they were getting ready to close. It would have been better if they had brought out them separately. Some of the toasties could be dipped in the soup but tuna ? No way.

We ordered a number of takeaway afternoon teas back in March of this year which were excellent. A great selection of sandwiches, scones & cakes. We picked up another one today which again was brilliant. Highly recommended and well worth a visit (or takeaway).

Had ordered a takeaway Sunday lunch today. We are usually a restaurant worse nightmare as my partner is Gluten-free and I’m vegetarian. However despite simply ordering one Sunday lunch without Yorkshire and stuffing and one without gravy we were catered and surprised on delivery for with a veg roast and gluten free Yorkshire and stuffing and gravy. Suffice to say I’ve already ordered next Sunday’s. excellent. Thank you.

What a lovely place to pop into for a drink and a snack. I had a look at the menu and decided to have a meal, instead of a snack. I choose the homemade lasagna and a hot chocolate. The meal came with coleslaw and a generous amount of salad. It was very tasty and filling. I also decided to have a take-out slice of chocolate cake for later, as I was very full! The two staff were pleasant and friendly. It was warm, clean and comfortable. I will certainly go there again if I am in Alfreton in the future. The building is an old one and very handy for the various shops in the town. Well worth a visit.

Looking for a little treat for me and my 6 year old daughter. It was extremely easy to book a table via the fb web page. The food was lovely especially the different types of cakes although we could finish it all but was given a little takeaway bag to take out cakes with us which was great. The staff were amazing and friendly. The room was clean a cosy. We will definitely return to try the slimmers afternoon tea next time.

I've lived around alfreton for years and never knew this was here! Whilst looking for afternoon tea for another occasion i stumbled across this little gem... Wanting to check out the venue we popped in one saturday morning....we probably should have booked to ensure a seat as its quite popular but she managed to find us a seat... The choices of food were amazing... From a bacon sandwich to homity pie to everything in between with a huge amount of gluten free options too! There was an incredible selection of cakes to suit a variety of intolerances including 3 gf cakes!! The prices are incredibly good and we will definately be frequenting again soon!

This cafe is fabulous and I enjoy taking my children here for some one-on-one time. The old building it’s part of, is a nice alternative to the more modern buildings that surround it and this makes it feel even more special. We always order milkshakes which are so tasty, come in a variety of flavours (strawberry, chocolate, caramel, Oreo, to name a few), are made in front of you and at less than £2 each, they are great value for money. In the summer, there’s outdoor seating and when the weather gets colder, there’s seating indoors which is lovely and cozy. Hannah and Sara (I think they are co owners/managers) are lovely, welcoming and always happy to have a natter (if they aren’t rushed off their feet of course lol!). Overall, it’s clean, well run and is located in an amazing historic building. I would definitely recommend paying them a visit as not only is it a wonderful cafe with plenty of character but it helps to support local businesses. Ditch Costa and give Alfreton Tearooms a try!

Ordered the Homity Pie with salad - Piecrust/base a little soggy, Salad a little limp & Cappucino Coffee was a little weak. I popped in here for a coffee and cake whilst making a rare visit to Alfreton. I really was pleasantly surprised. The coffee was excellent and so was the genuine home made scone served with butter. Very reasonably priced. The waitress was so polite and friendly and brought my coffee etc. outside as it was a beautiful day, nothing was too much trouble. I would certainly visit again if in the area and in need of a break. the place was spotlessly clean and well but basic furnishings.

Mother’s Day treat afternoon tea gift from my daughter-small but lovely little place in Alfreton. Was made to feel extremely welcome by super friendly staff. Fresh tasty sandwiches with proper chicken and ham - not wafer thin plastic rubbish, home made scones with clotted cream, fresh home made cakes, crisps, fresh crisp salad. Hot drink and a glass of elderflower wine. A typical afternoon tea but far tastier than those I’ve had elsewhere and made extra nice because the staff are so lovely. Will very definately be re-visiting for a breakfast or lunch fairly soon. Definitely recommend.

Unfortunately, the "Tearooms" is just one room in an old building. Tables are crammed together, and the room is also where the "cooking" is done in a microwave - hence the wait to receive your food! Service leaves a lot to be desired as does the menu! Sorry!

We visited here on an Afternoon Tea for 2 Groupon offer and were most disappointed. It looks very fine from the outside but the Tea rooms are, in fact, a tiny cafe in one corner of the building. It is cramped and everyone is sat so close together you hear each other's conversations. The food leaves much to be desired, shop bought cakes like Swiss rolls do little to impress as does the service. In addition there is a constant smell of burning which clings to your clothes after you have leftWould I recommend............well no. For £2 extra you can get a wonderful afternoon tea at Alfreton Hall which is just down the road. If there are no offers on Alfreton Hall then wait till there is!

We went here on a Groupon deal. Felt very second-rate citizens. Those without Groupon vouchers had what looked like a reasonable afternoon tea. The Groupon people got a much inferior deal. The cakes were all cheap shop bought (scones, dry chocolate cake and Swiss roll). The jam was Hartleys (ok, but not a homemade jam), the sandwiches were ok. No offer of topping up the tea (bags not leaf), and basic crockery was used. The building is lovely, but the room is small and lacked much atmosphere.
