We tried the 3-course tasting menu, £75 Starting with four delicious snacks served in quick succession. A beef tartare ,french toast smothered in parmesan,a hash brown with truffle curd, and a aged beef chawanmushi. Followed by house-made sourdough, served with creamy cultured butter. Then,Roscoff onion paired with smoky eel, gremolata, and black garlic. We decided to order the optional course of Bbq leek, smoked yolk, chicken skin, Umai modem caviar £17. For the main course we had John Dory, New season sweetcorn, nasturtium. For desserts a beetroot and blackcurrant tea cake, and a chocolate, miso, banana and lime. To finish a lovely coffee and petit fours included. Now,they say 3 course tasting menu. Various restaurants we have been to would easily class this as a 10 course. As well as taking into account the surroundings and profesional, friendly service,it's extremely good value. If you arrive early you can have a pre-meal drink on their roof garden terrace, weather permitting. Available Wednesday/Thursday for dinner sittings and Friday/Saturday lunch.

We went for the 7 course lunchtime tasting menu with the wine flight. On entering we were asked if we'd like a pre lunch drink on the roof terrace which was beautiful. I wasn't expecting it to be there so on a lovely summers day it was a real treat. I also noticed there were heaters available for chillier days. The food and wine were superb and the staff went out of their way to explain what was in the dishes. It was particularly interesting to hear about the origins of the wine. As well as the 7 courses there were 4 little extra dishes in between. It was obvious that much effort went into each dish. Yes, it was expensive but it was a luxury experience with no expense spared with ingredients, presentation and service. A real treat!

Really loved the venue which a lovely atmosphere. Staff were excellent and had just the right balance of professionalism and friendliness. Food was excellent but a lot of the courses were not to our taste and I wouldn't want to eat them again. There was not enough champagne choice for our liking. The whole experience was great and we would definitely recommend but we would visit other places before returning. Totally worthy of the Michelin star.

My review would have been very different before realising the discrimination I have just faced. This evening, my husband and I dined at this restaurant for the second time. We were seated in a corner towards the rear. As the restaurant began to fill up, the middle and front sections became occupied. Then, a black man entered with his partner and was also walked past the middle section to the back, right into a corner. This jogged my memory of my previous visit, where I, a black woman, was also placed in a corner. After conducting some research, I discovered that this is a common practice in racist establishments. I will never set foot in this restaurant again.

On Derby Rd, you might miss it as there is little indication of Alchemilla. Step through the door and you are in a brickwork ex-carriage store with arched ceilings and natural light, and you see straight into the kitchen. First impressions count and the count is high. We had the 3 course menu, supplemented with some extras and the food was supreme, the wine pairings perfect and the staff brilliant. I'd love to name-check them but there were a fair few who looked after us. Easily on par with my other, limited, high-end dining experiences. Well worth a visit.

Terrible! I have never seen a chef in my life who tastes food with the same spoon before bringing it to the guest. Yes, you heard right! The chef serves the food with the same spoon he tastes it on. Although he should use a different and unused spoon for each taste, he simply wipes the spoon he licked before and uses it again for each service. I wish they included hygiene in their perception of luxury. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

My first impression of Alchemilla was astonishing. I didn't expect the brick walls and atmosphere, it feels like a historic place, very green and private. The fine dining was as expected, great quality food and a great service. What really made this place unique was the artistic and culinary touch on every dish. I could feel the passion for smoke, fire and Japanese ingredients on each of the dishes. Elevating all the ingredients, for example a dish was made out of only mushrooms, and it was stunning! We had the pescatarian menu, and I ordered the optional Chawanmushi, and for me you can't miss out on the main dinner with Turbot, the Chawanmushi, the Mushroom dish and the Koji ice cream. Parking could be difficult, and I would suggest to park on NG7 3GD

Absolutely loved this place. We came for my partners 21st Birthday and had the seven course menu with supplementary courses added. The staff were so knowledgeable in their field which was a pleasure to see (myself working in hospitality) and service was definitely given with a smile! We both enjoyed discussing the dishes at great length (my partner especially as he's a chef!) and any questions we had about the dish was answered with ease. The dishes were excellent- even ones that wasn't the sort of things i normally enjoy were brilliant! The only dish we didn't think was great was the tomato dish but that definitely didn't matter much to us! 100% will return in the near future. Alex and his team are amazing, thanks guys! ❤️

We had been wanting to try Alchemilla for a while but could never grab a reservation. This was a good sign and we were very excited for our pre Xmas treat! Unfortunately it didn’t really live up to expectations. They could not accommodate a pescatarian menu without prior awareness despite them having a sample pescatarian menu on their website. We ended up having the vegetarian and regular 5 course tasting menus with the corresponding wine pairings. My husband had the supplemental beef course which came with a wine pairing also. The service was good and it all seemed well organised. The sommelier was especially helpful and knowledgeable. The venue is stunning and very lovingly restored. Unfortunately, one member of staff had no clue about the history of the venue which was disappointing given its Michelin status, but another colleague rectified this and shared a lovely photo book of the restoration. The food overall was a miss for us. Clearly the execution was of a high quality, but at times the combination of flavours was simply too funky. I acknowledge that is a purely personal taste, but we both left full but not satisfied. The wine was well thought out albeit the pours were not generous for £55. Another issue with this restaurant is the cost. At no point is it clear there is an additional cost for the beef supplement wine pairing so it was a shock to see an extra charge on the bill. We questioned this and it was promptly removed without argument so well handled. Also be wary that they do not offer you tap water at the outset of the meal - you have to ask for it specifically. Again another hidden charge for the still water we had. Finally ensure you see the coffee menu to understand the cost of this. We had 2 double espressos and some petit fours each which was an additional £20+. So nearly £50 extra than was explicitly laid out. A very expensive meal which didn’t quite hit the mark sadly. We won’t be back.

Amazing food. Great service. Had the 7 course tasting menu, with lots of extras, was eating for about 3.5 hrs, and it was all delicious. I had the standard menu and my dining partner had the vegan, which was jus as impressive, no vegan after-thought menu, a proper, delicious selection of food that stands up alongside the standard menu. Canapés: Chalk stream trout was delicate, light and delicious. The pickled celeriac was a surprise, a good one! The hash brown was fantastic. Smoked scallop soup was incredible, I'd happily have a whole bowl full of it! The bread was really good with the cultured butters... And then came the actual menu... The squash course was excellent. Then came a delicious scallop, they know how to cook scallops here! The mushroom/liver dish was amazing, so much umami. The bream was also delicious, although both my partner and I felt that this course should have come before the mushroom course. I didn't have the optional beef course... The 'main course' of venison was incredible, beautifully cooked. The optional cheese selection looked good, I saw other diners enjoying them but didn't partake myself... The dessert courses were a bit odd for me... My dining partner loved them though... The Koji sake Lees was nice, I found the sauce a bit overwhelming at first, the caramelised corn was amazing. The chocolate dessert was a bit 'mushroomy' to begin with, but grew on me by the last mouthful. We didn't take the wine pairings, had a bottle of malbec instead. A great experience, if you can afford a visit, I would recommend!

While we tried stuff on the tasting menu that we wouldn’t normally try, ‘we like what we like’ and this wasn’t what we liked. The things we did like were the snacks but the courses didn’t live up to our expectation. Interestingly the sommelier was necking glasses of wine as they were serving glasses to the customers…. Booked in for the eight course taster with matching wine EVERYTHING was tremendous. The sourdough from an 11 year old starter, the three unexpected starting canapés, that awesome smoked scallop soup and then the advertised dishes. The scallop with the English sparkling wine was superb. The Armenian red with the pigeon was near perfection. Loved the move away from wine at the end as desserts came with a sake, then a Madeira. It is a chic little cozy restaurant wrongly tucked away in an uninteresting neighbourhood. By public transport, I dropped off at their nearest bus stop and the way going there was an unpleasant residential walkway so booking a taxi going back was mandatory. I took the liberty of doing the wine pairing for the 10-course tasting menu but it was a hit-or-miss for me when complimenting the dishes. I ended up cutting down on the number of drinks as it was only making me full rather than enjoy the entire menu, albeit, rather tipsy. None of the dishes really stood out other than the oven-fresh bread and artisan butter. One particular dessert with rhubarb gave me a mild, but bearable, burning sensation on my tongue. Of course nothing happened to me, but it was rather concerning despite that I did try to finish the dessert. I vaguely remember any petit fours at the end of the course. I appreciate the intimacy of the seating plan, and ensuring I arrive early gave me the opportunity to soak in the brick-layering architecture to myself for a couple of minutes. The ambience has a minimalist approach with warm, cozy lighting and a touch of greenery to elevate the mood. Never chanced a glimpse of their chef, a simple Michelin gesture unfortunately missed.

My partner gives alchemilla 5 stars, I give it 3 stars so this review will be an aggregate. Overall it's a simply beautiful space with an open kitchen we had a table overlooking, so that was fun! The food is creatively inventive and certainly deserves its michelin star. We went for the 10 course which i recommend as my two favorite dishes, the fish and the bergamot, were only on this menu. The bergamot itself was a fabulous lemon tart with charcoal roasted top that gave it so much flavor. The reason my partner loved it so much was the boldness of the flavors, and this was my least favorite part. To me it felt like it was trying too hard. I dont think the chef, who is definitely one of the best, has yet to find his soul in his food. In the meantime he's experimenting, and thats to be celebrated!! We all go through that phase. It just doesnt feel quite rifht yet. When that authenticity is found and communicated though, thats when this (or another brand) will get 3 stars. Another point that made this experience drop one google point for me was the service. Little details were overlooked such as bottled water from other brands and only taking our coats at the table. Also, the wait staff got into arguments in front of us and were on edge. It was clear some of the servers were forcing a smile at the table and were overall not in a good mood. Also, the woman supposed to be there to answer our requests was at times looking everywhere but the tables with an expression of boredom. Took us longer than expected to ask for some drinks. To end on a good note though, they did let us come an hour early and we appreciated that as our plans changed in the day.

This is without doubt my favourite non-budget place to eat at. Fabulous food with a focus on natural, less meat and full-on flavour. Marvellous service in a formal but very friendly and welcoming environment, with extremely well designed decor to match. The wine list is great and sommeliers fabulous. Having been multiple times, I can tell you every detail is consistent too.

It was a fantastic meal in wonderful surroundings. Each of the 10 courses of the taster menu came with a different and unique flavour with its own focus on what the star of that dish was. The service was great, striking the balance perfectly between professionalism and warmth whilst still not being afraid to give a little of their own personalities. Our visit was all that we hoped it would be. We had a fantastic few hours here and couldn't recommend Alchemilla enough. Thank you to all who made our night one to remember.

This is a lovely place and the food was great and paired fantastically with the wines. So essentially 5 stars for the categories but 4 stars overall as it was very expensive (more expensive than other one star Michelin restaurants I have been to), also they could not do me a floater coffee. Some of the dishes they served compared to the size of my plate made me smile. The venison was defiantly a highlight, I also thought the eel was delicious.

We enjoyed a 7 course taster menu with wine pairings. One word would be spectacular. An intimate environment, attentive service and the food was interesting and perfectly executed. It challenges your pallet in a positive way. As said earlier, spectacular.

Excellent , but it should be for the cost. Wine mark-ups are especially annoying and ridiculous 300-400% mark up on wholesale prices.

Back again at one of my favourite spots to eat! This time for a belated birthday for a friend. We had the full 10 course tasting menu and a board, and shared a wine paring. This place never fails to disappoint. The food is incredible, every time I’ve been it gets better and I don’t know how. The staff are fantastic, it’s relaxed fine dining with a bit of fun and how it should be. She thoroughly enjoy her birthday celebrations! I’ve always felt extremely welcomed by all here and will definitely be back - already booked for March!

Started very strong. Incredible food. But then slowly the items became less punchy. Tried too hard and lacked what the formers held. But the first few dishes, including the venison were phenomenal. Didn’t like the seaweed dishes overly. The lobster was incredible. Will edit this review shortly. Amazing setting. Great staff. Amazing host. Waiting was ever slightly slow. Great alcohol menu. Ten course is a must. I would recommend wine pairing but would probably be too much for ten courses. Overall very expensive for a one star. Almost the same price as a london 2 or 3. Wouldn’t compare exactly to a one star further north.

Absolutely incredible experience last night. The venison main dish was our favourite, I don't normally like mushrooms, but loved it here! Would recommend to any foodie!

the food is good, but not awesome, and the experience is significantly marred by poor acoustics making it difficult to hear anyone who is not seated immediately next to you.

Absolutely fantastic place. The food was superb, some pairings that raised the eyebrows but worked amazingly. The staff, ambience and wine were also first class. A fantastic birthday treat 🙂

Fabulous staff food very disappointing. Tiny, tiny portions, don't go for the 10 course taster menu! Didn't stay for the last 2 courses, flavours absolutely bizarre, fish dish raw (husbands was cooked though). Stopped off for food on the way home. Sorry guys, was expecting something really amazing, very disappointed.

Me and my partner came for a 7 course lunch with wine pairing. We have both been to other venues with expensive taster menus before and had a wonderful time. The bill at Alchemilla came to £410, in honesty the experience wasn't bad but it was far from good, and it certainly didn't deserve this price tag. We found that 75% of the menu came with some sort of white sauce and it left both of us a bit fed up of it all, by the time we got a red meat dish and the only glass of red wine for a 7 course meal it was a bit too late. In addition the bread they served us had a hair in it and one of the glasses of wine was corked. I don't have a problem spending money but I begrudge that meal and unfortunately I'll never return.

Had the seven course taster menu and wine pairings. The food was nice some wasn't to my taste but that's my own personal choice not the fault of the restaurant. The restaurant was lovely in its unusual setting and couldn't fault the waiting staff at all they were all fantastic. Only took a point off as I found it slightly expensive.

Vegetarians, vegans and pescatarians of the world rejoice, Alchemilla offers a tasting menu for each diet. And not one where you are treated as an inconvenient second class dining citizen, but one where vegetarians and vegans are welcomed with open arms by chef Alex Bond. We had the 10-course vegetarian tasting menu with wine flight and a whole host of other goodies and surprises. The team were exceptionally attentive without being stuffy. A fine balance of professional and friendly. If I could afford to eat here every month I would. We will be back, thank you. In summary, flawless, my dear.

Exquisite flavours, both with the meat and vegetarian dishes (3 meat eaters and 1 veggie). We had the 7 course tasting menu, with at least 5 “bites”/canapés. The wine pairings were excellent, and really added to the flavours and experience. A host of knowledgeable staff and sommeliers who offered service. It’s not cheap but it is absolutely worth it.

Exceptional food. We had the 10 course vegetarian menu which was a really good experience food wise. The seating we had was a disaster and ruined our experience. Extremely noisy and chaotic. We just finished our meal and it feels like we had a fine dining meal inside a dishwasher. Commented on this ealy on during our meal, but staff was unable to reaccomodate. However, very pleasant staff and service. Made the trip to Nottingham because of this restaurant, so very disappointed and sad based on that. If you live in the area; ask for take-away as the food is good, but the over-all experience is disappointing.
