Was in Norwich for a family wedding and decided to stay for a few extra days sightseeing. Stopped at the Albey Horseshoes for a Sunday roast which was absolutely fabulous. One of the nicest roasts in a very long time. All home cooked by the landlady and plenty of it. Had a selection of 3 different meats & you could choose which one you wanted or all 3 if you're hungry We had a lovely reception and the landlord was really friendly and welcoming & made one of the best jugs of Pimms, thank you We had a superb meal, great hospitality and one of the tastiest roasts around Don't be put off by the exterior and please don't drive on by, you won't be disappointed by the food & fabulous hospitality within. A great find and if we ever go back to Norwich we will definitely be going back

An extremely friendly pub and the food was fantastic. We both had chicken and chorizo skewers and they were delicious with a lovely fresh salad and crispy skin on chips. So full but had to go for the waffle which we shared and we were not disappointed it was delicious too. Wished we lived close to this pub as we’d be a frequent customers. Very good value with quality food. Thank you.

We thought we’d give it a try and we’re not disappointed, absolutely doggy friendly so that’s a big plus, made to feel very welcome with a relaxed atmosphere, the Sunday roast won’t disappoint if you like big portions and a choice of Beef Lamb Pork and chicken, cauliflower cheese and red cabbage and lashings of gravy, and the Lemon Meringue Pie with cream and ice cream topped with a strawberry was delicious, this is not a fine dining with fancy decor establishment, it’s good wholesome tasty grub all cooked fresh to order, we shall certainly return👍

Sunday roast: lovely bit of beef, but the rest was mediocre at best. Veg either over or undercooked, Yorkshire puddings soggy, sage and onion stuffing was more like undercooked sausage meat. Staff serving were friendly, but the landlord was charmless and everyone was scruffy. The premises are drab and scruffy - a lick of bright paint wouldn't go amiss. I don't think I shall visit again.

Lovely friendly pub and even lovelier food. Dog friendly and a warm welcome from Steve & Donna. Home cooked food and the specials board is an added bonus.

I passed this pub on my way to Cromer and popped in for a pint - I’m told they are doing dinners from tomorrow and roasts all day Sunday - I looked at the menu and it looks yummy - the chef has come from a very successful pub in Bedfordshire called the White Horse in Husborne Crawley and the reviews for her food there was very good. Looks like I’m going to eat here very soon! Lovely friendly staff and atmosphere.

Yet another really great family meal at the Alby Horse Shoes. We decided as a family to do mother days a week early for our convenience. Margaret did a fantastic Sunday roast and some had meals from the menu. A must have is Margaret's homemade deserts especially Apple crumble.... yum!!! Margaret now has some help in the kitchen so has increased the menu. As always there was a great selection of beers available and wine or prosecco on the table. Really good service from our young waitress as well. Will be visiting again soon for more great food.

I have recently visited the Alby Horse Shoes for a family meal and unfortunately had some sad news. Margaret and Richard are going to slow down a little not doing quite so much food into the future spending more quality time with each other. There will still be a basic menu available but not so many people catered for on any given day. Always best to phone ahead giving plenty of notice so as not to be disappointed. Wishing you both the very best for the future and will see you again soon.

We are staying nearby and decided to give this place a try on Friday evening. We walked in to be told that the chef was of and that the landlords wife was cooking, well I must have shown my concern as he quipped "I've managed to survive it for over 40 years" which made me smile. So we decided that we'd give it a try, and so glad we did. Traditional good quality food served well, so we'll in fact that we went back for a roast lunch today. My wife was chuffed to see a veggie option as she was planning to have just veg and a batter pud. We both thoroughly enjoyed our lunches my beef was done to perfection as we're the veggies, not too hard and not a pile of mush. I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone.

Staying at a nearby campsite, first night went for a drink (real ale at reasonable prices) The friendly welcome from the owners and regulars made us want to return. Following night we ate there, good quality freshly cooked pub food, we both had haddock and enjoyed every mouthful. Again we were made to feel so welcome. We hope to return to the area and the Alby Horseshoes next year.

My wife and I were staying in the area and decided to visit this pub for an evening meal. On the evening we visited there was a meeting being held in the dining room and there was a pool tournament so the eating space was limited but the atmosphere was warm and the barman was very friendly. We ordered from the large board above the fireplace. We both had mushroom soup which was full of mushrooms and very tasty. For main meals my wife had steak and kidney pie with chips and peas (she was offered potatoes and seasonal vegetables) while I had the chilli and rice which was really good (I was offered Tabasco but I didn't need it). The food was typical pub grub but was served quickly and was piping hot. There was a good variety of drinks on offer. If you are looking for a traditional pub and are looking for a pub meal then this is the place to go.

Not many of these places left - a genuine, old fashioned pub with service by a landlord and landlady. Very welcoming to dogs. The night we went was also Richard's 70th birthday - when we rang earlier Margaret let us know about this because they were planning a party during the evening. Despite having to work on his birthday Richard couldn't have been nicer! The food is traditional pub food - pies, scampi and chips etc - freshly cooked. The beer is great. Seems to attract a nice local crowd of people, many of whom were coming to the party. We didn't stay for this but I hope Richard had a great time!

We found this gem of a pub when we moved locally. Good food and well stocked bar with several real ales of varying strengths. As a family we have eaten here regularly and have never been disappointed. Food is top quality, home cooked and nice prices. Many of our friends and extended family have eaten with us and really enjoyed. There is a lovely dining room and a separate dog friendly bar area. If you plan on visiting the coast this summer it's well worth calling ahead for lunch or dinner you won't be disappointed. If you like your real ales then this is a must see inn.

Lovely couple, Margaret & Richard, made us and our GSD Harley very welcome indeed when we dropped in just for a quick drink. So much so that we went back for our evening meal which was some of the nicest pub grub we had had in a long time. Good quality and generous portions obviously cooked to order. We would certainly recommend this after having a most enjoyable 3 course dinner. Hubby approved of the well kept ales too.

We arrived looking for a meal at 8.15pm on a Friday night after they had stopped serving food, but the pleasant, welcoming landlord checked with the kitchen staff and was able to offer us the choice of the specials board. The waitress stayed late to serve our food (bless her!) which was clearly homemade and of a excellent standard - I regularly choose chili when eating out and found the Horseshoes Inn beef chili con carne to probably be the best I've ever had. My wife had the steak and ale pie and found it equally good with nice steak pieces and a rich gravy. We would certainly eat here again, and would definitely recommend it to others given the quality of both the food and the service.

We pre-booked Sunday lunch for a group of 10 walkers and were pleased with the warm welcome from Margaret and Richard. The wood burner was much appreciated and Margaret found a towel for drying wet hair - not a service offered by many pubs.Everyone in the group enjoyed their meals and we were particularly impressed by the delicious nut roast. Puddings also went down well. The general feeling among the group members was that we would be coming back soon.

My wife and I decided to give this Pub a try after unsuccessfully trying to get something to eat there a couple of days previously (not open all day - Lunch: Midday to 2:30 - Evening: 6:30 onwards). So, we checked opening times and booked for Sunday Lunch. It was quite a nice small pub, with a nice back garden and small dining room. Although small, the tables were well spaced and it did not feel cramped. We had the Roast Dinner, which was OK, followed by desserts. My overall impression was that it did not "Wow!" me, possibly a tad pricey ( I have had better for the same price or less, which is why I have marked it down), but it certainly wasn't a place not to visit, although, personally, it was a one-off for me. I wouldn't recommend it with any sort of conviction, but it was OK.

We decided to stop off for Sunday lunch yesterday on the way home from the end of our holiday. We both chose the roast beef which was absolutely delicious. The whole meal was 'homemade' by Margaret and husband Richard was very attentive out front. The young waitress was very helpful and served with a smile. A lovely experience, will definitely go back again during our next trip away in June. Thoroughly recommend it. Great value as well.

Came here for our Sunday lunch, which was the best we've had in a pub! Extra gravy in a boat, good portion size, homemade yorkies, and if you have any room left, homemade sponge pudding and custard. Food delivered hot, and with a smile from the young waitress. Husband enjoyed the draught 'Nog'. Congratulations to the owners for great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a well looked after cellar! Will definately return on our next visit to Norfolk.

Dont turn up late and expect to be served by a friendly welcoming landlord. This one was positively rude and charmless.Must have been our North West accents that got his goat - but I wont be returning in a hurry.Oh, and the pool table 'shuts' before 11pm on a Saturday, as i was so frostily informed. What a stuck-up dive of a pub.

We stopped here for Sunday lunch on the walk from Sheringham back to Cromer after Sunday morning church at Life Church in Sheringham. Conveniently situated just a few minutes from the coast path. Although we had not booked they were able to accommodate us in the garden. Food was excellent and seemed good value.

The food was very good well cooked and presented, we had to wait for a while before our order was placed, however it's a busy local pub which caters for holiday makers also so this could have been the reason for the wait. Cheerful and pleasant staff, I would certainly eat there again.

WOW …What a find … great food choices . But just needed a coffee and coffee cake before going to the beach. Lovely friendly staff …Fantastic to know they have staff with learning difficulties who were so polite friendly and even gave my dog a treat . It will be my regular from now on . Many thanks

Been here before as we are fairly local and it was good. But this time terrible and very expensive we had roast pork with apple sauce, stuffing and crackling. Meat was mostly really Fatty and baguette was filled mostly with stuffing best bit was the crackling. At £8 each I expect far better just ripping off the holiday makers. Don’t think we will be going again. It was barely warm so back to the pie man at sheringham for us.
