Alberts in East Hertfordshire

They do a great breakfast but had a cheese and onion toastie with a lovely side salad lovely waitresses great place to eat they sometimes do a chicken and pepper soup which is delicious highly recommended better than anything in town.

Alberts is one of our regular haunts. It's a great place to visit and enjoy delicious food and drinks, either with friends or on your own. Michelle (our waitress) is an asset to the establishment, she's warm, friendly and efficient - she knows our order probably before we do! All of the staff are welcoming and the food is excellent, there is something for everyone. Will definitely be returning often.

Excellent service, we had Michelle as our waitress, she was extremely smiley and laughing even when no more people could fit inside. Value was good, food was great and quick to arrive. Plenty of trades in there who looked like regulars, so clearly, breakfast is good and value for money. I've not been before, it's not somewhere that is local for me. They clearly do a roaring trade. If I had to criticise anything, it would be that it looks tired inside. Outside and food preparation area however are good.

As always the experience with a visit to Alberts Cafe Thorley Bishops Stortford was first class. The waitress (Michelle) as always got everything spot on, was extremely jovial, helpful and you could ask more from her. The cooking staff did great gastronomy with food being as good as a London 5 star restaurant. Give it a try you will not be disappointed

Second time going into this cafe they are so rude never again made me feel so uncomfortable. Its really nice from the outside and I understand they do lovely food but customer service is very important

Swift friendly professional service, clearly the team want you to have a nice meal Also worth mentioning they dealt with my multiple allergies without issue or complaint. Great to have gluten free toast with vegan butter to go along with a full English :-)

My wife and I had half hour to kill so we decided to sit outside Alberts because it was a beautiful day and have a couple of coffees, when the waitress was taking our order she suddenly screeched out loud “IT SMILED AT ME” referring to the baby on the table behind me, how random I thought. After 15 minutes we still hadn’t received our order yet a table of 3 who ordered after me food and drinks received there order, how long does it really take to make a couple of coffees,I mentioned this to another staff member and he did apologise and said he’d go and check it out but by this time it was 20 minutes since our order was taken so I kindly said that we had to go so don’t bother,it was our first and last visit to Alberts.

I love this coffee shop, the staff are so welcoming and friendly. And I especially love the father and son that run the place they always make you feel welcomed

Alberts is located on the edge of Bishops Stortford and is an ideal stop before you fly from Stansted Airport. Offering a great choice of food - including vegan options - along with good service and value for money. Would highly recommend!

Eaten here a few times the food is excellent and atmosphere very friendly. Prices are very reasonable . Easy to park as it's in the Sainsburys complex . Would highly recommend and they serve breakfast all day

The staff here were so welcoming and friendly! They were happy to explain the items on their menu and served our items quickly.

A most excellent breakfast , poached eggs with avocado and smoked salmon , prepared the order , whist I had a short wait . The Brown Toast was good too. Well recommended

Is there a better cafe in Stortford than Alberts ? I don’t think so. The food is prepared at a far higher standard than many restaurants in the town I could name. Even a simple toastie is on a different level. No dry lettuce and tired cut tomato sides here either. Salads generously garnished with dressing. These people know the art of running a proper cafe.

Going back home to Italy, I was flying from London Standstead, my dad found this little cafe on google to have breakfast... Have to say it was wonderful !! Lovely friendly staff, great food and fair prices. The weather was warm and sunny and we were able to sit at a table outside, a bonus !! Will definately return !!

Like to support these local cafés so stopped by for a coffee and cake. Sat outside and a waitress came to take the order. We ordered 2 pieces of Banana & Walnut cake. Decided not to have them toasted this time but be warned, seriously large and very tasty cake. All with a pleasant waitress and inexpensive. Highly recommended.

just so people who shop in Thorley Park know... Alberts is OPEN AGAIN for takeaways... I think you have to give them a call to order.. whilst i was chatting to guy a door a lady asked for a latte....

We ordered 2 cheese and ham toasties to takeaway today, they were absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back to eat in here as and when things go back to normal!

I have been coming here for a few years since my Dad took me here for a sandwich after shopping. I've had excellent service and food every time I've come in. I'm yet to have tried a big lunch here but they did look and smell amazing.

Have eaten here a couple of times when visiting family. Friendly staff, excellent coffee and great cakes, what more could you a ask for!

We love to visit Albert's on a Saturday. The menu isn't huge, but the food quality is good. The big breakfast will leave you completely full. There's plenty of parking and it's next to Sainsbury, handy to do shopping at the same time.

Brilliant as always and staff are lush and helpful. No problem too big or small. Food always smells amazing but haven’t eaten there yet.

Every time I have been in here, and I go in often, the food has been exceptional. The breakfasts are amazing, the eggs benedict is the best anywhere, and the full english is hot, fresh and delicious. Keep up the good work!

Came in while waiting for a doctor's appointment next door. The mocha was amazing and croissant was perfect.

two of us met here again... the service is excellent, the staff are friendly and helpful and the food is as good as it always is.. you can eat in or take away, and if the weathers nice you can sit outside, the best place to go for a catch up in Thorley and its free parking at Sainsburys so you can do your shopping as well.

Called in on a busy lunchtime and it is the first time since it changed hands. Service was good and we did not have to wait long for the food. The food was well cooked and tasty.

Went to Alberts for the first time, full house, pretty good service, ok for a cuppa although not much selection for food, especially if you're a veggie. I wonder if a hassle-free reasonably friendly service is no longer the norm? To me it is, therefore an average experience overall.

Always coffee just the way you like it. Lovely staff and when you've got time treat yourself to an Albert's special breakfast. Cakes look good too.

I was shopping next door supermarket had a meal in this cafe after. I ate smoked salmon, avocado mash with mix salad. It was surprisingly amazing. Highly recommended 10/10.

New management. ALBERTS offer a good menu plus daily specials. You receive a good welcome and service from all staff. The breakfast, lunchtime items are very good & a good selction of cakes are available. No problem with parking which is free. Try ALBERTS & trust you wil not be disappointed.

This place is out of the way of town, however if you're in or around the thorley area - it's worth a visit! Thier jacket potatoes and sandwiches are done to perfection, and their homemade cakes are incredibly comforting during the winter months (and any other time)

I’m ketogenic in diet and they were happy to swap the menu round without any eye rolling. Lovely staff delicious food. Very fresh. I felt comfortable here and would go back loads. Specials are gorgeous. Will cater for your needs. Great cafe. Very quick service too and attentive.

Meet my Mum and sister. Been quite a few times now, Fantastic service. Food is fresh and tasty. Best cold coffee I have had in ages. Would totally recommended.

Found this by accident , what a great find! Wonderful place. We had really really good sandwiches and the service was very friendly and efficient. It was quite crowded but well staffed, and we didn't have to wait long. There was a small patio area at the front but I think they could have filled the place several times over. If they had a place in the main town with parking I think they could make a killing. Will definitely go back.

Visited a number of times, most often for brunch. Can't fault it. Good honest home cooked food at reasonable prices.

Love this place, coffee is always superb! All the staff make a really genuine effort to be friendly and accommodating and that makes all the difference to me! Sometimes I'm not fussed about the coffee, it's just nice to see them all and have a laugh!

I have been here a few times now. I go for breakfast on saturdays after the gym. busy little cafe but not overcrowded food is great good value you for money very clean and the staff are incredibly helpful and attentive give it a go you will go back,

Came in on Saturday for milkshakes and a hot chocolate with my nephews I ordered two milkshakes and one hot chocolate the hot chocolate was nice and the milkshakes where also nice however the Sevices was rather slow like for example I ordered to two milkshakes and only one turn up and then I had to order another one. the hot chocolate took a long time to come out there wasn’t any seating outside and it was very busy eventually we got a seat outside which was good but it did take time and Also I was told we weren’t allowed to eat in the coffee shop which was a bit rude but we could outside apart from that everything else was fine

I and a friend go here once a month to have a catch up, the food is still great, we shared a tea-cake as it was still early, the staff actually cut in half for us put it on separate plates and we had our own butter and shared a little pot of jam, but we have had the banana loaf before its delicious, the staff are always very friendly.

This is a café in a local shopping centre. Run the old fashioned way where service and value go hand in hand. We were greeted by very pleasant waitresses who seemed genuinely pleased to see us. We ordered banana bread and drinks. The banana bread was fresh, tasty, had loads of nuts on top and was huge!

Good food, decent service. Not that accommodating of children. I have to go at a certain time to guarantee a high chair, otherwise my little one has to eat in her pram.

Just got back home with a seafood wrap takeaway. Lovely taste, tightly wrapped and bursting full of salad and seafood. Love eating here, great place to switch off for a few minutes.

We had the light breakfast on a Saturday and it was very nice. The ingredients were good quality and cooked well. Also the staff were very attentive and friendly.

Very busy cafe this morning, food was great, service excellent. I did feel it was more expensive than it used to be, not given an itemised receipt so will have to check the prices on the menu next time! Noticed that cakes in the cabinet...

Really sad this has changed hands, but good luck to the old owners who went off to have a baby. The new owners sadly haven’t come up to the old standards and I won’t be coming back, I had wondered why the place was so quiet as it used to be so packed out. Hopefully the old owners will establish a new place in the future?

Not the nice friendly place it used to be. New owners, new waiting staff, slow service, poorly cooked food ... we were so disappointed, though I must say that our bill was reduced.

The first time we went into this place, we were delighted. The mother of the owner made some really special sandwiches and they were packed and tasted delicious. The service was brilliant, so much so, I actually told the very well spoken and polite waitress how refreshing and unusual it was to have such a polite and attentive waitress. We left there happy and agreed we'd found a little gem. The second time we went there, it was the opposite scenario. When we arrived there were no seats. No biggy as it was a busy lunchtime and the waitress told us to come back in 15-20 minutes and as soon as a table was free, she would reserve a table for us. We returned in 15 minutes and there was a couple waiting in front of us. We expected the waitress to lead us to the promised reserved table, but she allowed the other women to go to the spare table, which had no sign of being reserved. We waited a bit longer and we were finally seated. The sandwiches were made by a young girl this time and when they arrived they were already falling apart. They looked awful and messy and very unappetising. There was only half the cutlery for each person and the waitress (different one and pretty sure she was related to the owner from what she said and her attitude) was quite indifferent bordering rude.The filling was sparse and definitely not worth the price we paid for them this time. So it seems to be lucky dip whether or not you get a nice lunch or not. Fingers crossed isn't really reliable enough for me as we eat out for a treat, not a trauma.

Appears the cafe has changed hands. Same menu currently. However no where as good as before. Used to go at least weekly dont think i will anymore dispointing service. Sadly Food was not as good as before. Just when you find a great cafe and staff

Substantial plate of well-prepared English breakfast fare - great value for money. What a pity they are closed on Sundays. I can think of nothing better than a leisurely Sunday with someone else doing the breakfast.

I have only been into this cafe a handful of times. Each time there has been fast service and the food tastes great.The staff there make a huge difference to the vibe. They are beyond friendly and make conversation with the regulars. Really recommend and I'll be returning a lot more often. Top job!

we met a friend here for a coffee, we decided to have cake as well, two of us had lemon meringue. WOW it was absolutely delicious and you get a huge piece too, my hubby had Malteser cheese cake, which again was huge. staff very friendly and helpful.

Staff are very polite , the food is excellent. If you dont see what you want , if they have the ingredients then ask if they can make it up for you. Weve spent so many lunches here it is eating into our pension but so much good value for what you get. Only down side due to its popularity is space . Especially around lunch time it can get busy.

Akbert's in in Thorley, near Sainsbury's & other local shops including a Post Office, Chemist's & Doctor's Surgery. So after you've run your errands it's time for a sit-down! Albert's is family run, with a good selection of home-made cakes & pastries. Savoury items too, though I haven't sampled those yet. It's been a successful business for several years now & on sunny days you' be lucky to get a seat at one of the outdoor cafe tables which is testimony to its popularity. Great cafe - recommended for breakfast & lunch. Good service, good food, generous helpings, fresh ingredients - what's not to like!

Popped in to meet a friend for a catch up. Staff friendly , food was brought promptly and was very tasty. Amongst other things I can highly recommend the scones with jam and cream
