This is genuinely my favourite bar that I've ever visited. The first time I came was when my friends and I were travelling for Alton Towers, we came down from Scotland and just happened to be staying in the town of Crewe. We all fancied a night out and ended up at this bar and it is still a night out we talk about to this day as the best we've had. Great prices, great people and a great atmosphere are to be found here. Having now came down all the way from Scotland a few times now just to visit Crewe after that eventful night, I can still say that each time is as fun as the first. Also, it is always funny to hear locals be bewildered at the fact we've not in fact visited England to enjoy the nightlife of Liverpool or Manchester but instead the great town of Crewe. Hopefully be back soon!

Bar staff are useless, only seem to work when prompted off a hefty tip. Shameful, used to enjoy coming here, not anymore. They also offer deals but when you order said deals they don't offer deal prices so you have to comment and make them aware that you weren't in fact born yesterday. I'd honestly rather stay at home next time I fancy a drink.

Just off the train and went in for some food and drinks, barmaid as soon as we walked in looked at us like we weren't supposed to be there! She was standing scratching her unwashed ratted hair and looked so unclean then proceeded to sit and chat to the regulars rather than cleaning the disgusting tables that clearly haven't been wiped down from the previous day. 2.45pm (5th Sept) on a Monday afternoon and you have dirty tables! Think you have to get your pub sorted and maybe give your staff some tips on good hygiene. How about a sign outside saying you don't serve food anymore? Do not go here if your are in crewe ! Will be shut down soon anyway if thats the standard

Cheap drinks, if that’s important to you. The seating and tables are ok, but a bit grubby. The toilets - I wonder if the standard here is a reflection on the kitchen? No toilet roll, no sanitary bin and the soap was a pump bottle with soap so diluted it was impossible to foam. Much better places to visit in Crewe.

Haven't been into Alberts Corner for quite some time, but we decided to go for lunch. Big mistake. There weren't many customers when we arrived, and we were greeted by the singing(badly) by a drunk man. The first table we sat at had badly stained seating, so we moved to a smaller table. My chair almost collapse, as all the legs were loose. I ordered Cajun chicken, at the bar, and was told it would be about 20 to 30 minutes. As it turned out, 40 minutes later, still no meal. We were given a free drink and an apology. When the meal arrived, the chicken breast was so dry and tough, that I could hardly cut it. My wifes were the same. We were offered another meal,or a refund . We chose the refund. As I said previously, we hadn't been in Alberts Corner for quite some time, and had expected a decent meal, as had always been the case previously. I hope that this terrible meal was just a one off, and that the management can rectify this problem.

This place has gone from dump to not bad presumably under new management? Friendly staff and decent range of beers. Sadly it’s still cold and the toilets need sorting so easy fixes. Not quite so easy are the loudmouth drunks that infest the place. Shame really, it’d be a strong 4 but for them. Didn’t bother finishing my pint as frankly I’d had enough of the meths drinkers after 5 minutes.

On entering the pub we went straight to the bar which there was a few waiting to be served. There were 2 girls serving both were shocking at serving, they were not taking notice who were next and not covering the whole bar both staying up one end. At one point there was no one behind the bar one disappeared the other walked off to the kitchen leaving people waiting for a drink at an empty bar. I finally gave up after waiting for ages when the girl served a guy who had literally just walked in when others had been waiting. The staff need training on customer service and how to run a bar correctly. We went off to Hops where the service is excellent. Wont be back as its the most shocking service and it's slowly going downhill which is a shame cause could be a great pub.

Well, what a show on Friday! At least one member of staff if not two who in my opinion were blatantly under the influence of something whilst serving behind the bar. One couldn’t stop gurning the whole time we we there and the other couldn’t get a drink or the change right to save her life. The first member of staff I mentioned predictably panicked and removed herself from the bar area to collect glasses when the very stern looking (presumably bar supervisor) blonde stomped behind the bar, in fact all of the girls looked terrified when she went anywhere near them. Not once were we or any other customers served in the order that we attended the bar and there were dirty glasses everywhere which for a staff of 4 is really quite an achievement. I would have complained at the time but the blonde and the pregnant lady just stared me down, when all I was trying to figure out was who was in charge so I could raise my concerns. Very unwelcoming, good job I wasn’t a mystery shopper.Having worked in pubs in the past, including that one years ago, I understand how it can get stressful on a Friday night but the pub was far from packed and the service should have been a lot better. The toilets were an absolute mess too, missing toilet seats, dirty water collecting in the hand driers, lack of soap etc. It’s gone downhill massively and the only good bit about the night was the band, who were playing to an almost empty venue.Such a shame as it used to be such a good place.

This is the 2nd time in two days I’ve been in here and been disappointed by the level of service. Last night I visited with a friend to a virtually empty bar. I went to the bar for a round of drinks and three staff who were working were all just huddled at the end of the bar talking and didn’t acknowledge me. When one of them finally got round to serving they walked towards me and served the bloke behind me first who they appeared to know. At this point me and my friend walked out and went to a pub up the road.

Aaron, the apparent "owner" is the single reason for the low score, in fact its a generous score at the lowest score as the customer service is shockingly bad, there's 0 communication and 0 customer service, there was an issue on the day that was sorted until I caught Aaron being aggressive towards my guests simply because their comments were honestly negative, they forgot to put our banners up, forgot plates and other items, didn't provide enough food for our needs, charged us for extra and then online lied saying our party was 74 when it was 52 which included 2 babies and young children after asking for food for 50. Aaron childishly mocked insulted and was aggressively disrespectful to guests which is still viewable online now so easily proven, blatantly lied to hide his errors and inadequacies and after I defended my guests decided non of us were welcome again believing we wanted to return, iv never seen anyone be so blatantly poor at their job and iv seen some poor customer service, I would have considered going back for another do despite the shortcomings until Aaron threw his dummy out the pram, Id only recommend training, I certainly wouldn't recommend this place.

This was a lovely restaurant until they dropped their prices and apparently their standards. First impression of the place is amazing, its very clean, very well laid out and a comfortable atmosphere to it. I had the BBQ belly bites and a mixed grill and I've never had a better meal in my life. Fast forward to last month and the menu has changed, looks like they've taken a weather spoons kind of turn and was hoping the food was still to that standard. Boy was I wrong, the menu had completely changed in a bad way. I had ordered a sharing platter of garlic bread, chicken strips and chicken wings. There was no chicken wings and was told "The menu is changing and so is all the food". I had also ordered fish and chips with onion rings. when presented in brown chip shop like paper the food looked very nice and also the presentation. Chips were hand cut and cooked, fish was well cooked throughout, after eating half the chips and a quarter of the fish started to feel sick, I took away the brown paper and a pool of oil and fat was at the bottom of the plate. The onion rings, while very large and hand battered were too crispy and once bitten into all the batter had flaked off. so really, I was just eating strings of large onion. I realise sometimes places have bad days, so I returned 2 days ago. Had even a worse meal. Still no chicken wings due to the menu changing I ordered the fish and chips again as nothing else is really appealing on the menu. Waited a while for food even when it was quite empty, I really don't mind as long as the food is good. The fish and chips was presented normally on a plate free of oil and fat which was great. The fish was well and truly cooked, the batter was very brown and on the tip of burning and the fish was mush inside. The chips although looked cooked, were very under cooked and hard when pierced by a fork. I asked the waiter to take the chips back to cook them some more and when it came back, they were still hard. I don't know if they changed owner or changed cook but something definitely needs to be changed. I wouldn't recommend this place until something does and I would return when I see that change as the staff are friendly, its very clean and nice inside just a damn shame the food isn't as good as the place looks.

At one time we were regular customers, the service, atmosphere and food were great, after this experience we won’t be going back. We ordered a falafel wrap with mayonnaise and guacamole, also a medium cooked steak wrap with mustard mayo. The stark arrived well done (something I was not too bothered about), with a HUGE amount of English mustard-definitely not mustard mayonnaise, it blew my head off and was inedible. My partner was served breaded mushrooms in a wrap, there was no mayonnaise and no guacamole. When we complained we were told it was falafel as it arrived in a bag and that was on the label, we pointed out that someone had clearly made a mistake as falafel is made of chick peas and flavoured with spices. We were offered something else, as there was nothing else on the menu we wanted to eat I asked for a refund. I was told (and this is a direct quote) ‘we don’t do refunds, that’s against our policy ‘. How can an organisation have a no refund policy?, I suspect that is illegal. When I pointed out they hadn’t provided the advertised product a refund was agreed, that is the only reason I have given 2 stars instead of 1.

Then found a hair in the mango chutney, told the lady & she said ‘want another?’ well yes??? Popadoms were stale, naan bread hard, chips cold, toast arrived cold and with no knife the butter was solid, burnt sweet potato fries. Ordered second coffees got no spoons so used our cutlery. Overall experience a shambles. The woman on the bar was rude, careless and her customer service was outrageous. No apology was received. Wasn’t worth the £60 we spent here. This sums up all that's wrong with Tripadvisor. You can't give a zero score and they won't reset reviews when somewhere is sold. Used to be the only place in Crewe centre worth visiting. New absentee owner from November, I'd heard things had changed. Arrived at 6pm, many used glasses on empty tables waiting to be cleared. Just one young woman behind bar who had apparently never done the job before. Worrying number of alchie refugees from Wetherspoons (now closed). When it was eventually my turn to order she tapped in rump steak on the till - never asked how I wanted it. Then she announces that there was no cask ale - previously owner kept a good choice. Walked out in disgust.

I often pop into the Albert with my mother for a drink, maybe a bite to eat. Unfortunately my last visit was a little disappointing. We had popped in for a drink and decided we'd like a snack while we were there. We ordered some topped fries, nothing too extravagant, however after half an hour maybe nearly 40 minutes we hadn't received our food. My mother asked at the bar where the food was and was informed because there had been a confusion over table numbers they hadn't been sent out. Ok, we received a round of drinks on the house for the inconvenience which was a very acceptable apology but I couldn't help but notice some guys in suits having a meeting with the new management and receiving their lunch order before out reorder left the kitchen. As someone who works in retail I always think paying customers should be priority. I hope service resumes to the standard we are used to soon.

Went for a charity event. Good quality food with friendly staff. Priced a fair bit less than others and as a result less gargantian but worth a visit if you're in the area

As well as pointedly being made to wait, at a bar at which I was the only customer, the barmaid (I don't know her name but she is tall) was possibly the poorest I have come across. No customer engagement nor acknowledgement of me other than shoving a drink in front of me.

We dropped in here after reading the trip advisor reviews. I'm sorry but this was not the place for us, lights and loud music at lunchtime, below average food red onion and carrot is not coleslaw, and far too many screaming children. Staff were pleasant but will not be returning.

Went into Alberts with my two sons, had the gammon Sunday lunch and was impressed with the quality of the food. My son had the minted lamb burger and my other son had the roast beef. Both thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Real ales were spot on. We will return in the future.

Myself and my partner regularly visit this pub for a meal. We have never had a bad experience since it opened several years ago. The place is very welcoming, and all the staff are friendly and approachable. The pub and the toilets are always cleaned to a high standard. The food is always freshly prepared. The choice on the menu is very good, and the food is always wonderful.I would highly recommend this pub any time of day or evening. They have good offers on 2 or 3 course sunday dinner. They have amazing home-made soups every day.Even the chips, or sweet potato fries are gorgeous. The food is worth the price. They do a lovely capuccino or mocha too.If you book in advance you can have afternoon tea, and although i havent had it, i have seen other people enjoying it and it looks yummy and well worth the price. If you havent been to Alberts corner for a meal, then you should definitely try it. You wont be disappointed. They have a quiz on a thursday evening and sometimes live music and a disco on a saturday night. There is background music, but you can still hold a conversation. I cannot praise this pub enough.

A friend had booked tables here for a 30th birthday lunch. There was probably about 40+ People and so pre orders were made beforehand. Bar staff were attentive and polite. The food when it arrived was good I had Cajun chicken and the tomatoes were lovely with it. My only issue was that being such a large group food came out in dribs and drabs as everyone had ordered lots of different meals. Also the kids meals came out last which wasn't ideal. I feel this is a place for smaller groups of people and not such large bookings as the food did take quite some time to come out despite having being preordered. However I would look to go again, the inside was clean and presentable and the staff were on the ball. There was good disabled/ pram access into the premises as well. Not all tables would be accessible as some were up some steps but there was still plenty of seating though.

I went for a Christmas team lunch. The pub is nice, modern, clean and well kept. The venue is quite large. As this was a typical English pub I expected good, decent food but the quality of the food surpassed my expectations and was delicious. There was a bit of a delay to get my sweet potatoes fries but as there were many in my group this was to be expected. There was some music but not too loud. Staff were very friendly and service overall was very good. Also the pub is very well located at the town centre of Crewe and not too far from the M6. I will definitely go back.

I used to go here with my friends on a monthly basis and we have gradually noticed the food going downhill over the last six months. My partner and I visited for a meal mid week during a quiet time and the food was again disappointing. I ordered a duck wrap and it was so sparsely filled that it was almost flat and my partner ordered a steak and it was barely warm. No one came to ask if we were happy with our meals under after we had finished eating so I explained to a member of staff that we weren't happy on this occasion. She was sorry for our disappointment and advised she would tell the kitchen staff. This pub is lovely and the staff are polite but unfortunately for us the quality of food has again let us again and I won't be visiting again for a while.

Polecam

Went to Alberts corner on the 3rd September 2016 have been many times before and was very pleased with the meals. Sadly went on Saturday and the meals were cold and there was no one about to complain to. It will be a long time before we go again such a shame as it was a very nice place to have a meal

Very impressed with the interior on arrival. Lovely and clean spacious pub with a large well stocked bar. Decent menu reasonably priced.Children had - pizza, chips and peas (decent size and lovely hand cut chips)- sausage and beans - fussy daughter didn't want chips so they catered for her needs by giving her bread and butter instead of chips. Came with 3 thin sausages and lots of beans.Adults had - Moroccan lamb burger - tasty but would have liked more filling on the burger, ie salad. Nice sweet potato fries and delicious coleslaw.- pulled pork burrito - filled full of pulled pork and rice, very tasty and filling. Loved it. (Pictured below and recommended). The toilets were very clean and spacious, freshly smelling too.Would visit again if in the area. Thanks for a good first visit.

My wife and I held our retirement function here for 65 people, An area of the pub was separated off for our use at no charge (I think you can have the whole place free if you have 100 people) and there was plenty of room.Bar and waiting staff were friendly and helpful, service was quick and efficient and there was very little waiting time at the bar. There was an excellent range of drinks with 4 real ales and 3 or 4 choices of red or white wine: prices were reasonable. Our buffet was served at the promised time and we were pleased to see that it was not removed at the first opportunity. This meant that people could return much later to stock up on what was left so in the end very little went to waste (I seem to remember that even the by now cold chips went down well towards the end of the evening). Many people commented to be on how good the buffet was - just that little bit different.Overall there was nothing to criticise and we really felt that everyone went the extra yard to make our day special.

Nice decor and a friendly greeting. We both ordered ham, eggs and chips. We didn't have to wait long for the food but our first impression was not good. There was a garnish of a handful of lambs lettuce which was wilted and looked anything but fresh. The chips were not nice. Some were cut very thin, some fat. Some were burnt black and a couple undercooked and pale. There was a taste of burnt oil to them. We were not asked how our meal was despite the waitress passing our table a couple of times.

We turned up and our booking had been done for the wrong day, completely our fault! There was 7 of us but Chloe was great helping us to find a table for the 7 of us in the bar area which we were fine with as the bar and restaurant were really busy, so we were very lucky. We had great bar service from Jack, who pulls a good pint. Food was lovely and enjoyed by all, will definitely be coming again. Thanks

We were recently introduced to lite delights! It is a great Deliveroo option, portions are a good size, speedy delivery and has some healthy options too. Burritos, salad boxes and chilli beef nachos are some of our recommendations. Worth a go!
