This was a lovely wee stop en route to Gairloch and to be honest, not where we had originally planned to stop off. Forming part of the Lochcarron Golf Club but not quite located in the main part of the village, this was a no nonsense, comfortable café. We were greeted by a lovely waitress - she made my four year old son feel right at home and let him look after their ‘Baby Buddha’ ornament (Buddha’s are an obsession of his). She was proper helpful and without fuss, even done us takeaway food for my wife, who was babysitting in the motorhome. We ordered a few things but my Eggs & Avocado on Toast were done perfectly (runny Yolks / smooth Avocado). My Coffee was spot on and well needed after a long drive without any sort of stop off points. My son devoured his Scrambled Egg on Toast. The food was nothing out of this world but for me, it was just good home-cooking eaten at the exact right time! An added bonus of the location made this driving break even better - overlooking the Loch Carron inlet and miles of blue sky and greenery. I’d confidently say it falls into the hidden gem category of NC500 eateries - don’t be put off by the Golf Club pavilion facade!

My husband was in need of coffee, so we stopped in. Delightful woman running the place. There isn't much around here for food choices, so if you are hungry, the place certainly had some tempting options. No specialty coffees. Just the old fashioned type brewed in a pot. But it certainly satisfied a need. And, the prices were quite reasonable for everything.

Op goed geluk hier gestopt voor laat ontbijt. Direct na onze komst werd het gezellig druk. De twee vriendelijke dames konden het nèt aan. Roerei met zalm op toast en koffie. Wat een traktatie!! Uitzicht is prachtig.

This was a perfect spot for our late breakfast / early lunch. It’s small and homey with great views and great staff. We each had a soup and sandwich special, sharing one toasted and one fresh sandwich. All the food was great tasting and substantial enough to keep us going for the rest of the day. They also have a good breakfast menu which was hard to pass up. Highly Recommended

Popped in here for coffees on a wet and windy day. A shame about the weather as it is probably a lovely place to sit outside by the loch on a sunny day. Light and bright inside though with lots of golfing trophies and memorabilia around. Service was extremely slow as the woman serving was on her own, but she was friendly and helpful. Not many tables inside so unfortunately people were driving off after seeing the 5 tables were full. £4.30 for 2 coffees very reasonably priced.

A wonderful little cafe with views that simply held me in awe. I was there early but they opened up anyway and at my invitation, the owner stopped and chatted with a cup of tea for a while. The bacon and egg bap was superb as was the tea, but the setting, was as tranquil as the company and welcome was homely. If you're on the NC500, just happen to be in the area or want somewhere peaceful relaxing and delightful for a stop, you HAVE to come here.

On a motorcycle tour we came across the tops via Bealach na Bà in 75mph winds we were rattled to say the least. After trying various cafes and pubs they were either shut or not offering food at that time. One pub owner suggested this cafe based in the local golf club less than 1/4 of a mile passed the petrol stations leaving the village. We had a very warm welcome by the chef who honestly couldn't do enough for us. Apologies for not getting your name but thank you from me and the guys for everything you did. The cooked breakfasts and hot sandwiches were generous in servings, piping hot and good produce. Also there's stunning views while you eat. Couldn't fault at all.

Our party of 4 + 2 dogs stopped here for lunch and were immediately welcomed by friendly and helpful staff. The food was freshly cooked to order, tasted delicious and was excellent value for money. Our dogs were treated like the special guests that they are, and we would have no hesitation in recommending the Albatross Cafe to anyone visiting Lochcarron

My boyfriend and I stopped here one morning as we were starving and seen a signpost for 'Albatross Cafe.' The breakfast was alright, nothing to write home about but all in for 1x breakfast and coffee each was £20. Also, saying its a cafe is misleading because its part of the golf club and prices represented as such.

Quite unusual in that it shares its premises with Lochcarron Golf Club. Small menu of sandwiches, burgers, fry ups etc but very reasonably priced and served with a smile.

Agree with the other reviews. This is an unlikely place to find at the end of the world. We felt welcomed and in the main enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the cost for the 2 of us. £200 for a snack, breakfast, plate of curry and a bunkhouse bed with no shower and a outside toilet seemed breathtaking expensive. To put this into perspective, we go to a nice hotel each year for a winter break, that's more than we pay per day at the hotel with vastly more civilized amenities. I do understand there are logistics involved at Cape wrath. However for an 'ordinary' local Scottish person I'd be looking to stay at sandwood bay and make a lunch trip to the cafe as I simply can't justify the cost/value. However, it is altogether improbably situated and a must experience if you are doing a long walk. Just be prepae your expectations.

Food was nice and service was, for the most part, friendly. One server seemed to be having a bad day. Brusque and barely civil. Very expensive for what was served.

We stayed at Taigh Ailean for our trip to Skye. We also had the opportunity to eat dinner there (Breakfast was included with our stay.) The dinner was so delicious! The view is lovely as you can see the loch from the windows of the bar. All the staff is fantastic and so friendly! I had a great dinner and I would describe it, but the menu changes to suit what is in season and available from the sea. Whatever you get, I guarantee it will be the best! Make sure you call ahead and get a reservation as it fills up quickly. I know that they also have live music, which would be great, but we didn't have any while we were there.
