Al Hamra in City of London, Westminster

Just a bit disappointing overall. Our dishes were fine, especially the falafel - which was delicious, but overall the restaurant just lacked atmosphere and the staff didn't show any warmth or character to make our evening in any way special. In short, it's not representative of the world renowed Lebanese welcome.

Was there for the Iftar. 🤲🏼 Tried fattoush, tabulle salad 🥗, lentils soup 🥣 sea bass 🐟 tea 🫖 and baklava. Everything was delicious.😋 The stuff was super attentive ❤️🙏🏼

I ate there two years ago and it was better - this time I ordered kibbeh and it was thick and not good - and the texture did not resemble Lebanese or Syrian mujaddara - a lot of lentils and a sprinkle of broken rice that had no flavor or taste at all - the last time I visited it in general - the issue is over for me

初めて利用させてもらいました。年末の晩に予約もなく夕飯を食べられるところを探していたところ、たまたま街角で呼び込みスタッフに声をかけられ入店。まったく何料理かも分からず入って、レバノン料理と分かったのはだいぶあと。正直にスタッフへ「レバノン料理を全く食べたこともなく知識もないので教えて欲しい」と言ったところ、本当に丁寧に教えてくれた。そしてそのオススメは完璧だった。ここまでレバノン料理が美味しいとは予想以上で、次回からフィッシュ＆チップスよりもレバノン料理を優先したい。 途中、手押し車の素敵な御婦人がスムーズに店内へ入れるよう手伝ったところ、あとで山盛りデザートで返ってくる嬉しいイベントがあった。せっかくだから、旅行の記念に一緒に写真をとっておけば良かった。 本当に素敵な体験だったので必ずまた伺います。スタッフの皆様、ありがとうございました！！！ めちゃくちゃ美味しかったです！！！ This was my first time using the restaurant.I was looking for a place to have dinner on a year-end evening without a reservation, and happened to be approached by a staff member on a street corner and entered the restaurant.I entered the restaurant not knowing what kind of food it was, and it was not until much later that I discovered that it was Lebanese food.I honestly told the staff that I had never eaten Lebanese food and had no knowledge of it, so I asked them to teach me about it.And their recommendation was perfect.It was beyond my expectations that the Lebanese food would be this good, and I will prioritise Lebanese food over fish and chips next time. In the middle of eating, we helped a nice lady with a wheelbarrow to get us smoothly into the restaurant, and she later returned with a heap of dessert, which was a nice event.I should have taken a photo with her to commemorate the trip. It was a really lovely experience and we will definitely be back.Thank you to all the staff! It was so delicious!!!

I love this restaurant at the heart of London. An excellent location and testy cuisine, although space is a challenge in this expensive area. I recommend you book in advance to secure a seat to avoid waiting. I realised the congestion is from 7 pm, you go earlier to avoid the crowd.

We went this place today. To be honest, the food and service were just not bad in general but if you consider the price and worthiness, I’d definitely say that they changed customers at least twice of the value they actually provide. With the amount they charge, I think you’d be surprised or disappointed with your choice. For example, they charge about £11 for a service which absolutely doesn’t worth £3, £5 for cover paper which aren’t mentioned in the menu.

Very expensive Good service Normal food

Good food, great service. I recommend if you are looking for more authentic Lebanese food and less commercial. I tried their fattoush salad that was great, I liked their mixed grilled dish and my favorite was the grape leaves but the hot one with meat that are served as a main course and not just a cold appetizer. I also tried their mixed barbecue it was good.

I only been there for Shisha and I liked their Shisha a lot. Be aware the closing time in Google isn’t correct. For Shisha they close around 11 pm.

The food is amazing and if you want authentic Lebanese food in London this is the place. The food and the ambiance makes you feel as if you are having a meal in the Middle East. Just so authentic.

Top service Front of the house know what they’re doing. Fresh food. Best Hummos you can have , probably even better than what you would eat in Lebanon. Warm simple decor A bit pricy but well worth it. Location is very close to Saudi embassy. Would definitely recommend it.

لقد واجهت هذا المطعم في البداية بالصدفة. لكنه مطعم لبناني لطيف ذو موقع مركزي في لندن. كان الطعام لذيذًا، ولديهم الكثير من المزة الباردة والساخنة للاختيار من بينها. وكانت المشويات لذيذة أيضًا. أحب فكرة تقديم مجموعة من الخضار المقطعة على المائدة مثل الجزر والفجل، تمامًا مثلما يتناول الناس وجبتهم في لبنان. كانت الخدمة سريعة وسريعة. كان المدير نوار لطيفًا للغاية، وجاء للتحدث إلينا عدة مرات، مما جعلنا نشعر بالترحيب. بالنسبة للجلوس، أفضل شيء هو أن لديهم كلا من الداخل والخارج. إذا سمح الطقس بذلك، من الجيد الجلوس بالخارج أيضًا.

Really enjoyed our meal here - very authentic food. Extensive menu - lots to choose from and some unusual dishes. Service extremely helpful and attentive. Starters were excellent- but large so had to have a doggy bag for some of my main course which was a very good mixed grill.

We had a party of eight and walked in without reservations. The staff could not have been more accommodating. Our waiter was great and recommended the family style 8? Or 9 course dinner. It was fabulous. Highly recommend. In a great cozy part of Mayfair as well.

Don't miss this place- FANTASTIC food, and exquisite service. We live in an area with the largest Middle eastern population in the US, so we are accustomed to authentic Lebanese food- but this place is beyond anything else we've tried. The grilled sea bass was big enough to share; we scooped up the creamy hummus and baba ghanouj with steaming hot bread- and the rice pudding is made with rose water and pistachios. We loved the food and the amazing staff- Ahmed is a handsome pro--so much that we booked another table two nights later. We will dine here every time we're in London.

I was really disappointed as it's not a good Lebanese restaurant. Hummus, meat, and kebab were not fresh. Good sitting and good service. I only liked the big lettuce, carrots, and radish they offer as you sit before making your order.

We had a great experience at Al Hamra Restaurant. Immediately on the tables they leave a bowl of vegetables and a bowl of assorted olives. We bought a dip (obviously) for our vegetables. They have a large assortment of hot and cold appetizers. For our meals we ordered the the Labneh appetizer, Tabouleh, French Bean and Tomato and the Farrujj Moussahab (baby chicken). All of the food tasted great, but the chicken was cooked perfectly. It came with 2 dipping sauces, but it didn’t even need them. At the end the waitress gave us a complementary pudding. We had a great experience, and we would definitely come again.

Got the grilled baby chicken. It was cooked and seasoned correctly. It was great. We will go again! My wife and I had a great time.

We had a wonderful family meal at Alhamra last night. 8 of us, including my 83 year old mother in law, enjoyed a lovely evening. Some of the group hadn’t eaten Lebanse before and they really enjoyed the new flavours. The staff could not have been more welcoming, helpful with our choices and attentive but we were also let enjoy the meal at a leisurely pace. We tried Lebanese wine for the first time which was delicious. We had a mix of starters like humours, tabouleh, falafels and pitta. Then we all had kebabs of different choices. The meal finished off with baklava’s. It was all fresh and very tasty. Highly recommended.

Lovely setting in Sheperd Market, a lot of choices in the menu. We had our lunch outside without a prior reservation. The food in itself was very tasty and well presented and the service quite fast.

Have dined in this area before so thought I would give Al Hamra a try.Friendly welcome and shown to a table, drinks and food order quickly taken.The food was excellent really enjoyed my selections. The staff seemed happy to congregate around the bar and not really interact with the customers. When dining on my own I prefer some interaction with the staff it helps add to the experience.I know its just off Piccadilly and prices are sometimes a bit high, but charging 2 cover charges because of a single table occupancy will chase customers away.Needles to say no tip left for the staff.

First time experience for Lebanese food. The staff are exceptionally helpful. Explaining every dish and suggesting delicacies that we would never have chosen if left to our own devices. All that we loved.The Lebanese wine that was recommended was perfect.The restaurant had a great fun atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor tables to eat.The location is vibrant with quite a few other restaurants and wine bars close by, all adding to the atmosphere.Magnificent. Cant wait to return.

Ate outside and had a wonderful meal, with a vast selection of authentic Lebanese dishes. All beautifully presented and prepared. It was probably the best meal that I have eaten all year. The restaurant is located in a romantic spot off Mayfair. The owner/waiter was a very respectful and gracious man, who offered us complementary desserts. There is something very unique and special about this restaurant. Well worth a visit.

They said they had service of "eat out to help out",but they charged normal price. The meals are good, but be careful everyone.

I've been to many Lebanese restaurants and this is absolutely the best; the quality of starters with the hummus and yogurts is very high, for example, the halloumi, falafels. The mixed grill is fantastic, same with the desserts with the pistachios. Highly recommended

Een fijne ontdekking in Shepherd Market. Elegant en mooi restaurant met zeer vriendelijke bediening (er liep zéér veel bediening rond). Fijn voorgerechten met lekkere humus en kraakverse groenten. De zeebaars was heerlijk. Toen de rekening kwam was die vrij prijzig dankzij couvert & service fee, maar het was het waard.

Para cualquiera que quiera saborear el Líbano en Londres, Al Hamra es el lugar para ir. Ha estado aquí por mucho tiempo, los lugareños y visitantes siguen regresando. El servicio es sencillo y amable y servicial si necesita ayuda con el menú. He probado la cocina libanesa en otros restaurantes de Londres y París, y siempre vuelvo a Al Hamra. Las carnes son tiernas, condimentadas y cocinadas a la perfección. El entrante humilde y de berenjena es suave y sabroso con aceite de oliva y jugo de limón espolvoreado con especias en polvo. Vale la pena probar los otros mezzes y la parrilla mixta o el shawarma y kawarma son increíbles. El plato de baklava al final es gratuito y debe lavarse con té de menta. La atmósfera cuando está llena y agitada puede ser intoxicante con los olores de la comida y la shisha que ingresa desde el exterior. Cierra los ojos y podrás ser transportado al Líbano.

If you like Lebanese cuisine then this is the place, all of the dishes were delicious and fresh tasting, the staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful. We have tried various Lebanese restaurants in London and knew of Al Hamra but this is our first visit, I wouldn’t hesitate to say, when recommending, that is is by far our favourite.

We had a delicious late lunch here on Saturday. Wonderful options for pescatarians and vegetarians. excellent artichoke salad, beautiful bread and saffron rice

I had to say that staff was welcoming and friendly, they were very nice, restaurant size is good, tables are not so comfortable but ok. We have ordered mixed grill and kofta meat, quality of food is very poor, meat taste very bad and not eatable.They have a shisha outside but have not tried it.

Very slow service. Un friendly staff, not courteous at all and make the client feel unwanted. Long after ordering the main course, I was told that they ran out of the item I ordered with no offer of alternatives or compensation. Last time there.

We were on London for one day for quick business we decided to have lunch in this restaurant as it was near our stay in London, we ordered meat Shawarma, some appitazers, the food was more than delicious and tasty, the service was relatively fest, the waiters were very friendly, don't ever miss it

Coming here for 35 years and always a good standby when in need of a Lebanese ‘fix’ of Kibbeh, Falafel, Houmous etc nicely complemented by their not inexpensive Arak.

I was there on 17 Aug, 2019, very very expensive, the took cover charge 2 and half pound per person!!!!, the took 12.5 service charge,, hummus is not that great, again very expensive place, I do not recommend it

Pero esta vez tomaron los niveles de arrogancia a los siguientes niveles, los camareros son francamente groseros y se portaron con aspereza, todos deberían ser despedidos y el personal nuevo debería ser incorporado, de lo contrario, pronto este restaurante se extinguirá.

Fui con amigos a cenar, la comida estaba bien, nada especial, pero muy caro, estoy seguro de que con ese tipo de precio se puede cenar en un lugar mejor. Tenga cuidado con los cargos ocultos i. e 2. 50 coberturas y 12. 5% de servicio por una comida normal. No recomendado.

He estado yendo a Alhamra desde 1998, y nunca me ha decepcionado. Me encanta, y siempre llevo a mis amigos y colegas. No vivimos en Londres y viajo especialmente a Londres para poder comer en Alhamra.

We were famished when we got at this place and they did not disappoint us at all!! We loved everything they suggested and served that night. From olives to their warm bread and hummus and the main course dishes. Warm and cosy place in central London, with superb staff. Was with kids or would have surely tried the hookah outside. Place worth a visit.

After going through the extensive menu and wine list we asked the maître d for suggestions. We had a mezza with 8 different dishes, all delicious. The main courses were the mixed grill and a chicken. We had a Lebanese white wine. All in all a great meal at a reasonable price.

Very old furniture, the restaurant really needs a revamp. The head waiters/managers are not very friendly. The food is not bad, quite good actually. When the bill came that was the surprise, a.cover charge of 2.5 pounds per person, I was with the misses and 2 kids so they charged 10 pounds. They have also added a service charge but called it optional order. I dont mind paying whatever a restaurant asks for a dish, however I do not like being looted and ripped of in such a sneaky way.

We decided to take family to this Lebanese restaurant in London’s cute shepherd’s market, there were 5 of us in total.

Settled on this place after checking menus at several other places in Shepard’s Market. Good Lebanese food served at typical pricy Mayfair rates. Large menus with a variety of amply portioned Lebanese and Arabic appetizers and entrees. Any positive for this establishment went out the window with the arrival of the check. The service charge that was added in lieu of tip is fine but a “cover charge” of £2.50 per person, supposedly on the first page of the menu but not clearly posted anywhere else, after you have purchased cocktails and a full meal, is obnoxious to say the least.

The evening didn't start well. Shown to a table and then ignored for far too long. Eventually we got a waiter's attention and ordered some drinks.

I have been many times to Al Hamra restaurant and so I confidently booked a business dinner thinking that they would still have the same ambience. To my shock and embarrassment the interior was completely changed. Gone are the tables with white linen. Instead they now have cheap booth style tables with such narrow and uncomfortable seats. Obviously, it is a space maximisation exercise on the owners part. The food was still as good but they have totally ruined the ambience! These McDonald style booths do not work in Mayfair. after many years of dining in this establishment, this has been the last time. Will never come back again!

Brilliant service from Hosam for my sister's birthday dinner. This was our first visit and definitely not the last - the food was outstanding with beautiful fresh flavours.

El escenario era perfecto. Elegante. El servicio fue impecable. Teníamos dos de los mejores aperitivos que he tenido. Hummus Beiruty (hummus con habas, ahora un deber) y el Loubieh (frijoles verdes fríos) fueron excelentes y valió la pena el viaje. Los vinos de la casa libanesa (teníamos blanco y rojo) eran geniales. El plato principal de todos fue excelente. Y fue lo suficientemente tranquilo para que tengamos una buena conversación.

Realmente un favorito de todos los tiempos. Ubicado en Mayfair, el lugar es fácil de llegar. Tan pronto como llegamos aquí, pedimos el tabulé (fantástico), sucio (por debajo del promedio), ensalada de alcachofa (bastante sabroso), warak enab (mi favorito) y un poco de hummus. El pan de pita aquí era bastante agradable. Sin embargo, el servicio nos apuró mucho, y eso no me gustó. Simplemente nos centramos en el mezze y no nos molestamos en el plato principal. Tenía un poco de vino y era normal. En general, la comida es buena, pero el servicio no lo es.

I have never experienced such rude staff in my life. They had a problem with everything! They constantly kept rolling their eyes when being asked for vegetarian plates on the menu, and didn’t even want to explain the difference between two dishes. I asked them for spicy sauce and that was got 30 minutes later with a snobby face. It felt as if they were the clients and I was the waiter. Very disappointing and disrespectful

Gran hummus y pan plano aquí, así como excelentes vinos tintos para acompañar pollo / cordero, que también son muy buenos, muy suculentos y sabrosos. Solo un poco caro, pero luego los gastos generales en Mayfair deben ser enormes, por lo que esto es comprensible. Very rude staff . We asked for shwerma sandwiches and they made them plates when we asked them to change to sandwiches they refused .

Good Lebanese food, tapas style dining. Busy but well staffed. Really enjoyed the atmosphere - a mix of couples, family groups and friends. The house red is good value. Can’t remember what it was called but there is a hummus and lamb dish which was my highlight.

We visited this place more or less by accident. We stayed at the Hotel Como which is located nearby and were looking for a bar for an aperitif.

Went here last night with two friends, admittedly after visiting some of the hostelries in Shepherd Market. Frankly it is massively overpriced and not very good. Had Taboulleh, cheese and some sausages for sharig starter. Main course was dry chicken wrapped in dry flat bread served with rice. If it could have got any plainer I would be frankly amazed. I have eaten wonderful Lebanese food in Beirut and this is awful. Save your money, go somewhere else and avoid

The Shepard’s Market area is in the Mews just a few blocks from Buckingham Palace and between the Park Lane Mews Hotel and the Chesterfield Hotel. A hopping night area with a dozen or more pubs and restaurants. The Al Hamra is a nice restaurant specializing in Lebanese food and with an interesting list of Lebanese wines. My preference for dinner is to do it tapas style - order a few appetizers to share rather than a main course.
