Aira Force Tearoom in South Lakeland

Lovely flapjack and good coffee. Friendly service but struggling with staff shortages on the day of our visit. Lots of outdoor tables, and a few inside.

Just what we needed after a morning of walking from Aira Force car park to Glenridding, taking the steamer back to Aira Force Pier and then walking up yo the hugh cascades of Aira Force. Lovely drink, sausage rolls and cake.

The tea rooms are a short walk from the car park ( free for National Trust members). Good choice of drinks and cakes at reasonable prices. Seating both indoors and out and dog friendly. From the tearooms, it’s a short, easy walk on the level down to the lake for stunning views of the lake and surrounding fells. It’s a rather more strenuous walk to the falls themselves. The launches stop at the jetty on the lake.

A lovely little tea room serving a good selection the sausage rolls are very tasty indeed. Hot and cold drinks available. Seating both indoor and outdoors.

As with many others, we popped in here after walking up to see the waterfall. Excellent coffee and fab scones that went well with the jam and cream! The friendly and helpful team were very efficient.

Nice little tearoom that sits next to the car park for heading up to the waterfalls. Lots of different cakes but hot food was extremely limited so I think it’s a case of once it’s gone it’s gone but we still really enjoyed it. The coffee was very good as well!

We stopped and had drinks and cakes after our waterfall walk! The drinks were delicious my daughter loved her pumpkin spiced latte and my mocha was delicious too! My husband said the scone was one of nicest he had had 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Good food & beautiful location. We all had pasties which were a Huge meal in themselves. Vegan: vegetarian options were exceptional. A great place to go after a fantastic walk up to Aira Force. Coffee was top notch too. Perhaps a little on the costly side compared to some cafes but it’s still a nice place to stop after a walk.

Nice location and good range of cakes, snacks and drinks, including a decent range of vegan options. Lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the views.

Called in for coffee and cake on a hiking trip the sponge cake was thr worst I have ever tasted it was so dry we had to leave it. When your paying this much for cake you expect it at least be edible

The tea room was really nice. Good coffee and hot chocolate, and we got a cup of brownie bites for £1 which was great value and they were very nice. Friendly staff and nice selection of drinks and treats. Benches outside too (with sun umbrellas) and a really lovely scenic place to sit and have a rest after walking.

Whether you are visiting the famous Aira Force or just stopping off for a coffee break whilst driving alongside the lake, this National Trust cafe is a great place for refreshments. There is a large car park ( free for National trust members) and toilets close by. Seating is available outside assuming the weather is favorable. On a cold, wet December day, sitting inside in the warmth was a real life saver! Excellent range of hot and cold drinks and, of course being a NT cafe, a very good and tempting selection of cakes. Hot snacks are also available. Order and pay at the counter and within a few minutes your order is ready. Prices are very reasonable and there are excellent views of the surrounding countryside. Well worth visiting.

Grabbed a little lunch after walling around 2 hrs up to the high cascades. And also had a decent vanilla latte, hot and just enough syrup.

Busy Saturday at 1pm, very limited choice and quite expensive. Lovely tea room and setting is nice, so felt the food options let it down. Also felt it was poorly organised with no order numbers meaning you're not quite sure if your food and drink is being called out.

The staff were the friendliest of any cafe I visited during my week in Glenridding. All very happy and extremely helpful. The best coffee I have had all week too. Lovely surroundings and I even used the boat from Glenridding and saved on parking. Coupled with a walk to see the waterfall (free entry) a great way to spend half a day.

Paid a visit here after a treck up the waterfalls, lovely little place, clean and welcoming. Made a big fuss over the pooch which pleased her. The caramel shortbread was to die for, and they also had doggie ice-cream which again pleased the pooch. Quite small inside but plenty of seating outside too. Would recommend.

Popped in over the Bank Holiday weekend, but still managed to get a table. Sausage rolls were excellent, as was the soup and scones. Plenty to eat and not a bad price either.

Really popular tea rooms just near the bottom of Aira Force, so convenient for walkers on the newish Ullswater Way track, Waterfall visitors and people getting off the Ullswater steamers at the new landing stage. Lots of outdoor pucnic tables, well-spaced, as well as some inside, and the area around is bright with swathes of daffodils at this time of year. Friendly staff and crucially a good range of snacks (we loved the hot cross scones as well as the regular one) and good quality coffees. Loved it, as we have before, and we’ll most certainly be back. All those other customers can’t be wrong either…. 👍😀

Nice place for a cup of tea before or after walking around Aira Force which was beautiful place to stop for a visit. There are three way routes to view this water fall, so something for everyone. Enjoy

Adequate fare for very unreasonable prices. Take a picnic and a credit card for hot drinks from this cafe.

We walked from Glenridding to the tearoom a distance of 3 miles each way. The Tearoom is about a 10/15 minute walk from Aira Falls, so it was a welcome spot to rest our legs.The Tearoom is more like a cafe, you order & pay at one window at the rear and then collect your purchases from a window at the front a few minutes later. We had hot chocolate which was good. There is a few benches & tables positioned at the front of the Tearoom.

We'd travelled across from Glenridding on the Steamer, taking the first boat out. We arrive at Coffee Time and so this was a good place to start. The coffee and scone set us up for the walk to the top of the falls and back. Typical National Trust fayre.

We enjoyed an ice cream and scone but service was a little slow. The hut is very quaint and we managed to find a seat luckily

Visité Aira Force la semana pasada cuando visité los lagos y había investigado mucho sobre lugares para comer y el 90% de ellos dieron en el blanco. . Conseguí el barco de vapor de Glenridding y subí casi a la cima de Aira Force en un hermoso día soleado. Esperaba tener un refrigerio ligero en el salón de té antes de regresar al vapor, pero cuando hicimos el pedido no había bocadillos calientes disponibles, así que pedí 2 bollos de queso, pero ¿era posible calentarlos y un té y un capuchino? bueno, los bollos de queso deben haber estado como máximo en el microondas durante 5 segundos tan fríos y duros y, desafortunadamente, en mi caso, no comestibles, uno fue alimentado a los pájaros y el otro fue a la papelera, el café estaba bien y es difícil equivocarse con el té. . . así que todavía con hambre esperamos hasta que recuperamos el vapor y encontramos un café en Glenridding llamado Helvellyn Country Kitchen, que era muy agradable. Después de media milla de natación.Después de una salida húmeda improvisada de un kayak de mar con fuerza 8 fuerza de ráfaga 10 con mi único pensamiento llegar a la sala de té caliente. Entré en el salón de té esperando tomar una taza de té y sentarme a calentar durante media hora y luego salir. En cambio, me senté a la fuerza alimentando té, envuelto en mantas, con un calentador para abrazar mientras esperaba una ambulancia. La mayor parte de este tiempo todavía no podía hablar o al menos nada que tuviera sentido. Muchas gracias a quienes me cuidaron tan bien. Estoy en deuda contigo. Brennan

Whether or not you have walked up to the falls and back, this tearoom is well worth visiting. It is situated near the car park ( free parking for National Trust members) and seats are available outside as well as inside. It is in a really good setting with good views of the surrounding countryside and only a short walk from the Aira Force jetty on Ullswater. To get there just cross over the road and go through the gate and you will be rewarded with great views of this magnificent lake and the surrounding fells.Being a National Trust cafe, you are assured of quality produce and friendly staff. There's a good choice of delicious looking cakes ( the flapjack was wonderful!) and hot and cold snacks are available all at reasonable prices. Dog friendly and toilets near the carpark.Highly recommended.

A lovely walk that most could manage definitely worth seeing. The tea room was exactly what it should be. Nice drinks and cakes.

Very nice. But they’d had a run on soup and nearly everything we tried to order was gone ! Friendly staff

Before setting out to walk up to the falls which are lovely, we met up with friends for a hot drink and cake. Our friends have two young dogs and the tea room staff made a real fuss. Having dogs we chose to eat outside although we were welcome inside. Staff were lovely, a good range of hot and cold drinks and an assortment of cakes, soup, hot pies etc. Just what you want when out for a country walk. There is a National Trust car park close buy but it only accepts coins.

Usually pop in for tea or coffee after walking down from the water fall or from arround the lake, value for money

A nice tearoom but can be crowded inside when weather not too good, plenty of outdoor seating for better weather. Good friendly service with the usual sandwiches, cakes, scones etc..

Had to wait in a big queue but didn't mind. Lovely tea and scones, friendly service and nice ice cream selection. Good for the kids and lovely outdoor area and well needed after a long walk up to the waterfall. The whole place is beautiful and will visit again soon when we're back north.

Fuimos con nuestros tres hijos de 4 3 y 1 1/2 y realmente lo pasamos muy bien a pesar de que estaba lloviendo, cometimos un error al tomar nuestro buggy que no funcionó bien con todos los pasos y el camino difícil, pero por lo demás fue dulce y obtuvimos buenas fotos junto a la cascada. Hay algunos senderos estrechos sin vallas junto a las fuertes pendientes, por lo que si va con niños pequeños, debe tener cuidado

Good NT cafe but selection of food was poor when we arrived at 1.45pm. It seemed they’d run out of a lot of items and had a very limited selection of sandwiches.

Remarkable, remarkable, the water fall is fantastic, the sound and the views of the water coming down is a must see, but you have to be healthy to do this , lots of walking and hills, to see it all.

Aira Force is a beautiful national trust area, the tea room serves sweet and savoury scones with tea and was very reasonably priced.

We have visited the tearoom twice during our holiday. My husband loves the savoury tea, cheese scone, cheese with onion relish with a pot of tea.

Nice enough cafe at the waterfall site where we stopped for a midway coffee on our walk. Personally thought it was overpriced as cakes etc were expensive for what they were.

We called in here after a longish walk from Glenridding, and the area surrounding. We had a lovely coffee and the dog enjoyed the sausage roll....

We visited the team room following a long walk to Aira force as a pit stop before our return leg of the journey. It’s such a cosy and inviting little tea room. On arrival the staff were very friendly and efficient helping us to decide on an order. I had tea and scone, my hubby had tea and toasted tea cake, which we both enjoyed.

On a very cold day the cafe was a welcome treat after a good walk. Service was good and there was plenty of choice of food and drink. It looked very new, with clean/fresh decor and had a very efficient heater.

My husband and I visited the tearoom on two successive days. The homemade soups with cheese scones were out of this world. Absolutely worth a visit.

We had a lovely lunch in the NT cafe prior to walking to Aira Force waterfall. Very pleasant staff and a lovely lunch. Just what was needed before the walk upwards!

Good walk round the waterfall, looking forward to the NT cafe. What a disappointed,not much choice in sandwiches, tea in a mug with a tea bag. Two sausage rolls plus two teas cost nearly £10!!! Give it a miss. M.S. Leeds

After walk to Aira Force on rainy day we pop in Tearoom. They were closing in next 10 minutes but still served us with nice hot chocolate. Nice friendly staff.

Pleasant place to stop for coffee and a sandwich on a trip to Ullswater. The National Trust gets credit for this cafe, but loses it for lack of signage in the Aira Force itself, where it is easy to get lost in the winding paths.

If you are passing and fancy a tea and snack then this would suit well. There is a good enough amount of seating and the wildbirds will entertain you outside as they look for crumbs to eat. Helpful and polite workers serving. That is always good to see. If you are only calling for coffee then remember that there are hefty parking fees also to pay.

Had the last of the leak and potato soup and gluten free bread .. bread incredibly dry and stale and soup not great either. Everything else great .. and beautiful views of course!

One of the better National Trust cafes - homemade cakes and sandwiches (which were delish), the tea even came in a proper teapot! Sat outside on a lovely day, and food was welcome after a hike up to the head of the river.

A lovely spot for a cup of tea/coffee with sandwiches/cakes - after a grand walk from Glenridding. Good prices, friendly staff......providing an excellent service. Always enjoy a visit each time we stay in Glenridding.

After a lovely walk on a nice Sunday afternoon, we decided to try lunch here, but didn’t work out.

A little oasis after a lot of hiking in a very very cold day. Delicious teas, delicious soup, delicious bread, delicious scones, jam and cream! What’s not to like! Highly recommended - pleasant and efficient service 🎈

Stopped here after visiting Aira Force for something sweet to give us some energy for the last leg home. We had a tea cake with jam and a slice of caramel chocolate shortbread. YUM! Staff also helped us to try and find our way back.

This place is spotless. The staff are full of useful and local info and gave us a great walk idea. Mostly serves tea, coffee, cakes, scones, sausage rolls etc. Well worth a visit.

Fabulous wee coffee shop. Fuel yourself for the waterfall walk, or reward yourself after the walk! Large selection of cakes, scones, pastries. Warm, welcoming, friendly staff. Very busy, had to sit outside, which was a little nippy, but moved inside when table became free. Lovely and toasty inside.

Really nice cafe by the car park at Aira Force (car park is National Trust, so just scan your membership card at the ticket machine). The cafe serves good coffee - has soya milk if required - and a good range of cakes. #TayloredByUs

We were welcomed by the smell of fresh coffee, freshly cooked food and the warmth of a log burner - perfect after our hike up Gowbarrow Fell on a damp and chilly autumn day. The coffee was wonderful and the freshly baked tea cakes a real treat. Would definitely recommend whatever the weather.

Only tea shop for some miles so a good place for refreshments after visiting the falls or Gowbarrow Fell. Inside seating is limited especially if the weather is poor. All profits are used to improve the paths and facilities.

Lovely place for a walk and a picnic, plenty of people there in the holidays, the downside was expensive pricing for parking without shorter stay options

Decent place to grab a bite to eat and a tea, coffee or soft drink, after walking up to/around Aira Force.

After an exhilerating walk at Aira Force this is a great place to stop and have drinks snd snacks. It is just a few yards from the car park and is signposted clearly. Good variety of traybakes etc.

Very busy place cost is just £5 to park no other entrance fees.. Nice walk through a forest with a lovely waterfall, there are apparently red squirrels there but they didn't show on our visit. It is run by the National Trust and we thought the tea rooms were expensive. However a nice place to go, you can only stay for 2 hours but that is long enough to stop for tea at the end.

Before walking the Ullswater Way from Aira Force to Glenridding we had hot choc and coffee cake. This is a great tearoom and an asset to Aira Force as a starting point to either walk up to the waterfalls or onto the fells. Clean, simple decor and furnishings, plus outside seating. Friendly staff. Would visit again and try something from the menu for lunch.

Supporting the tea rooms on the Ullswater way we stopped here for coffee and cake. Super tidy, great choice of coffees and teas, snacks, cakes and children's food. Cherry shortbread is a must.

We walked from Glenridding to Aira force, this cafe was the perfect spot for a quick snack and a toilet break. As with most of the National Trust properties we have used the service was lovely, and the food was adequate. It sold it for me that they were helping to feed and save the red squirrels using profits from the cafe which is really good to see!

Nothing beats a welcoming snack after a hilly walk. The sausage rolls were fresh, tasty and hot and the drinks refreshing. Lovely setting with plenty of outside seating and water bowls for dogs.

Lovely tea room, staff very friendly and helpful. Dog friendly too which is always a good thing 👍🏽. Does a lovely carrot 🥕 cake as well!

Really nice walk for families. Amazing views and a lot of attractions. But tearoom not the best one. I would recommend as a great walk

We called in on a very wet day having walked from Pooley Bridge, this is a convenient place to stop off on the Ullswater Way. The menu is fairly limited and while scones were OK they were not the best we have had. The staff were pleasant and didn't seem to mind that we were extremely wet.

We have visited Aira Force twice this week. Once when we walked from Glenridding along the Ullswater Way and then up to High Force before returning to the Tea Room for a delicious lunch served by friendly staff. The soup was excellent and the coffee is perfect.

I had a lovely cup of coffee and scone sitting outside in the sunshine this morning. It was perfect.

So the coffee is great, the scone was tasty (smothered in clotted cream!) and my partner really enjoyed the carrot and coriander soup! However, the icing on the cake was how lovely the staff were!!! They were very accommodating of walkers and their muddy feet, and one lady even made a point of informing us that there was a bus that went between Aira Force and The Quiet Site should we wish to make use of it! Very welcome info for non-locals on holiday.

This little tearoom has improved immeasurably since it was taken over by the National Trust. However it's a tearoom and shouldn't be confused with the restaurants found at the National Trust stately homes so don't expect a large choice. That's not a criticism of what's on offer...home made soup, sandwiches and a selection of cakes all very tasty and of good quality. It was a cold damp day when we visited this time so the soup was particularly welcome. There's plenty of seating inside and out and water available for dogs outside.

A very welcome warm haven on a cold snowy day following a walk in the snow. Nice friendly staff but a fairly limited range of food but it was near closing time on a Sunday.

Compared to other National Trust tea rooms we felt this one was average. There was not much choice of food, mainly sandwiches or soup but nothing more substantial. Great setting but bit disappointed in the choice

The waterfall was more than spectacular! It had a bit of extra water in so it was gushing over with a force. we even saw a few trout jumping. Café was well stocked & reasonably priced.

Didn't use the tearoom but the climb up to the waterfall was breathtaking (visually and physically)...but then I am not at all fit and was being overtaken by oap's lol ..was definitely worth the effort.

After a walk up to Aira Force and exploring the surrounding pathways we were certainly ready for a coffee and some cake. Plenty of seating and water for the dogs. Lovely staff too

After a walk up to the waterfall the tearoom was the perfect place to take a break before walking back to Glenridding.
