AGA Mezze Palace in Glasgow City

Able to book and receive confirmation email but it’s no longer open - looks open on website and booking system- it’s not, save yourself the disappointment and book elsewhere

Booked a table for Saturday evening. However when we turned up the place was closed!!!! I wish they would have informed us that the restaurant wasn't open as we struggled to find another restaurant.

First thoughts on standing outside the restaurant were hmmmm? What a big mistake that was. Met by the delightful Ahmet who quickly answered any questions about the menu. When the food arrived we were in heaven, absolutely beautiful. We had between us, halloumi, chicken kofte, chicken shish and lamb moussaka. We were also given a plate of pickled veg with olives and Turkish bread on arrival. I really wish Ahmet would advertise more as this is definitely a gem not to be missed, will look forward to our next visit.

This was my first time in Glasgow and we decided to go here as it was close. The restaurant was empty and there was only 2 people who I believe were the owner and the waitress. The restaurant is absolutely freezing and you have to stay with a jacket on. The food took about 1 hr and a half to come and we were exausted and just wanted to go back to the hotel. After staying there for 10 mins i realised that we made a big mistake coming there. The food is decent, but the service, atmosphere and waiting is terrible. would certainly never be back.

The 5pm deal of 2 courses pre-theatre for 6.99 seemed exceptional value on the face of it. My wife and I were greeted by a rather timid waitress and shown to a lovely romantic booth. The restaurant is vast and there seems to be a performance area for belly dancers. Three tables along from us was a woman wearing her coat and scarf plus a wooly hat. We should have twigged. The food was really good and in generous portions. Before ordering our starter the waitress brought some lovely warm Turkish bread plus pickled vegetables. Starters were good. Main courses were excellent and came with an unexpected large bowl of salad. My lamb koftes were delicious - I couldn't finish my meal. We were given some Turkish delight with the bill. So, the owner is more than generous with his food. Sadly, he is a skinflint with customer comfort. This was evening in Glasgow in late December and there was NO HEATING in the restaurant. Nada. ZERO. There was a central heating radiator next to our table but it was stone cold. In Glasgow in late December! Much like the lady three tables along, I had to eat my dinner wrapped up in my Regata survival jacket. My wife's teeth were chattering and she just wanted to eat up and go somewhere warm for a coffee. This obviously detracts from the romantic dining booths. Unless you're one of the crazed individuals who walk around Glasgow in sub-zero temperatures in t-shirt and shorts, It's probably best to go to the Aga Palace only in summer. Unless you happen to be a polar explorer, in which case the Aga Palace may be right up your street. I can only assume that the management are mentally challenged in thinking that the majority of their customers would want to eat their food in a totally unheated Glasgow restaurant in the middle of winter. Would I invite friends for dinner at my house in Glasgow in mid-winter with the heating turned off? Of course not. Our meal at Aga Mezze Palace was memorable, but sadly for the wrong reasons. In 45 years of marriage it's the coldest meal we've ever endured. So, 4 stars for the food, but zero stars for the total lack of comfort on a freezing December night. It's no fun having to eat your dinner in a survival jacket. The young waitress was hopeless and she totally failed to notice the cold temperature suffered by the diners.

My girlfriend and I dropped in for a 2 course pre-theatre meal before going to see We Will Rock You, this was our 2nd visit here and although we were the only people in the food was fantastic and very filling for under £18 which included a soft drink for each of us, fantastic value for money. It’s a diamond in the rough and so easy to find, up the steps at Buchanan Street subway and it’s on the right at the top of the road. Well worth a visit, the owner was a lovely guy and very welcoming, we’ll definitely be back 👍

My husband and I visited here for dinner tonight on a 5pm deal. The food and staff were amazing and the staff bend over backwards to help. We will definitely be back

Went on a Saturday night when a party was on. Music a bit loud. However don’t lose sight of excellent, tasty food. Well served by a very attentive and pleasant server. Really nice menu with lots of options. Will be back.

Aga is a superb place to meet- my son and I hosted a small business meeting there in July 2019. I was the only one of the group who had been there before. The food was all prepared to order and we were very impressed. Excellent value for money, extremely handy for the bus and train. Two weeks later I did it all again with other clients and they were equally impressed.

Firstly couldn't get through on phone to book,tried for 2xdays and continually went to voicemail Eventually went in and booked for Friday 12.30 lunch. This was a bit of a problem as waitress kept saying 2pm As advertised as being open at 12.00 noon could understand what issue was. Food amazing, more flies than i would have liked, too many cobwebs in ladies the ladies. Overall food great, service good, music annoying, restaurant needs makeover in general, but don’t let that put you off.

Went here for a deal on Groupon and it was really good value. All the food we had was good and nothing to complain about at all. If I was going to go back here I would go on a weekday with a Groupon. Weekends look much better with entertainment.
