Very disappointed in the whole experience. Went here for my son’s 21st birthday celebration for the beauty and the beast afternoon tea. You get one finger sandwich, a mini croissant sandwich and two minuscule open sandwiches. They do not replenish the sandwiches or cakes or the tea. We were still hungry after the sandwiches as they are no to everyone’s taste. Had afternoon tea at the ritz and really enjoyed it. They replenish and give you a selection which you can at least pick from and enjoy. Not worth the money. Go to the Ritz instead.

This afternoon tea was amazing. If you love afternoon tea and beauty & the beast this is for you. Couldn’t fault it at all. Don’t believe the negative reviews on here! I read them before I come and my expectations were really low and I was a bit gutted, but by the end of the experience I couldn’t work out why the reviews were so bad. The food was great! Good simple sandwich options for kids as well & we asked for extras. The decor and theme was beautiful. There was someone playing the harp throughout which was a lovely touch. Different Disney tunes. We managed to go while there was a 25% discount but I would 100% pay the full price.

Do not ever go to this afternoon tea! The atmosphere ...well it was dark and when we asked them to switch the light on and make the atmosphere a bit brighter as it was making us feel enclosed in, we were told that was supposed to be part of the atmosphere! The curtains were drawn and it was like the middle of the night. The Beauty and the Beady theme was only really apparent with a red light in the room, plus a teapot, serviette in a rose shape and a rose in a glass jar! Not worth getting excited about. Next the food, well no words can describe how awful this was compared to other afternoon teas we have been to. I am a vegetarian and although having confirmed dietary requirements several times well in advance, through email, phone calls and on the day being asked several times I was given a SALMON sandwich. As they had reassured me that is was all vegetarian and in the dark looked like tomato, I bit into the sandwich and knew it tasted disgusting but still ate half of the mouthful and then had to spit out the other half. Not realising that until a friend mentioned that it looks like salmon! I couldn't believe it as I vegetarian I had eaten raw fish! I could have had an allergic reaction to the fish. We also had dry bread and said that everything had been prepared in advance so wasn't fresh. There were a number of other problems too. When we spoke to the manager she wanted to charge the rest of the group £30 to have scones and cake despite what had happened to⅔ me and the whole afternoon tea experience being ruined by what we had experienced. I would have appreciated a gesture of further compensation however this wasnt even mentioned. Do not waste your money going here, go somewhere else!

Went for afternoon tea to Waldorf London. We had reserved a table for 8 on Friday 2nd of August 2024. Atmosphere was not great at all. The food was even worse. The red pepper soup had a blob of cream spattered onto it and the plate of sandwiches …unbelievable. 1. A tiny piece of bread with Kale, one slice of radish and a few peas 2. Ricotta cheese on a tiny triangular slice of rye bread topped with cucumber. 3. Tiny croissant with 2 pieces of chicken 4. Smoked salmon finger sandwich which was even served to the vegetarians!!! Never had open sandwiches at an afternoon tea before. When we asked for a refill of Masala Tea we were told there was no more. We complained to the manager and finally decided to walk out(best decision ever!) I would suggest you send your staff-manager, waiters/waitresses and especially the chef for an afternoon tea experience at the Ritz!!!!

Went for the beauty and the beast afternoon tea and it was shocking. one finger sandwich one half of bread roll with salad and a pastry with one tiny piece of chicken which was just out of a packet. 4 very small sandwiches and not even fresh or nice Soup was cold but meant to be warm. Cakes was just as bad with a vey wonky cake stand that we had to keep holding It was my daughter’s birthday and they forgot to bring her cake out even though everyone was getting theirs so in the end we left. The food is awful the room where it is is awful and the only thing that made it even a little like beauty and the beast was the tea pot and that’s it nothing else. The harpest kept going for a break so even that didn’t continue for long. Don’t bother booking this very over priced afternoon tea.

For the price we paid, we expected a fantastic experience in wonderful surroundings. Truth be told, the place is a little tired and lacks pizzazz. One member of staff was clearly bored, another reaked of cigarettes. The nicest staff member was a trainee. The afternoon tea was a little childish; posh Waldorf china mixed with cheap and nasty teapots and "Chip" cup. The sandwiches were fine, if a little bland. Cakes were great, scones okay. The tunes played by the female harpist were very lacklustre. All in all, not worth the money.

Afternoon Tea was very good. Been twice and am I confused by the poor reviews. Especially about the lack of food, they kept offering to top us up with their delicious sandwiches and were not shy about doing so. I guess it depends on who you are lucky enough to have waiting on you. Loved it, thought it was elegant and the theme was tastefully done - it's not in your face doesn't feel like you are in Disney land (I understand this might disappoint some). Staff, each time I have been have been excellent!

This was a poor experience and embarrasing as we had brought overseas guests promised an English treat. Service was friendly but barely competent. The waiter came to our table to tell us it was the end of his shift, then nothing happened for a ver long time. There should be seamless service when you are paying this much. The savoury item plates looked very sparse and unappetising. The winter warmer soup was just about palatable. The tea selections and delivery worked OK, and the sweet selections were quite good. But it all took more than 90 minutes and the place was not at all busy.

It’s my first ever food review - but I felt duty of care to warn you wall - TO STAY AWAY. Decor is dated, restaurant has dusty red plastic roses everywhere (including on white light up trees - so 90s). Except for harpist it all feels cheap and frankly you feel scammed when the plates arrive. The sandwiches - you would be better off going to the supermarket. You get three - size of a thumb. Scones - disappointing, cakes - awful! Not only small and look like they were prepared week in advance - they were way too sweet and frankly disappointing. And what the hell is with that blue dye sugar disc on top? It will stain your tongue and lips. Waiters are nice but scarce and wear prison like unflattering grey uniforms. There is nothing that shouts special or luxurious about this experience and considering the price it’s a daylight robbery. We did not receive the clock cake I have seen in other reviews - presumably they have run out as we booked for 15:30 - only to be served at 4pm. I image it’s awful like the rest so no harm done. If Hilton calls you to sign you up to Homage program - put the phone down and block the number. The hotel is dated, the discounts not worth it, the afternoon tea voucher exposes you to the worst experience in London. Mic drop.

We booked afternoon tea for 1.30pm. We arrived at the restaurant at 1.25pm to be told to go back to the foyer and come back at 1.30pm. As this would have taken 5 minutes to walk there and back we waited. 2 minutes later we were shown to our table. Why they didn’t say just wait and we will show you to your table shortly we don’t know. We were given a table in the corner of the room which clearly wasn’t set up for an afternoon tea. We know this because all the other tables we pasted were fully laid out. We were shown a menu and asked if we had any allergies. Neither of us have any allergies, however one of us doesn’t eat fish and the other pesto. They said they would inform the kitchen of this. 5 minutes later before any tea arrived they brought the tier cake stand. On the bottom plate, were 3 small finger sandwiches each. They had taken our dietary requirements too literally. One of us could have eaten fish but there were none. They gave us 2 ham and tomato and 1 vegetable finger sandwich each. There was no offer of any additional sandwich’s. We couldn’t believe it when we realised that they had used processed ham. On the middle tier were 4 plain scones, no fruit scones . The scones were very dry and in our opinion were not fresh. Rather than cream we preferred butter, so asked for some. They brought us 6 individual wrapped anchor butters. There was no spoon to use for the jams either. We asked if we could have a different type of tea. We both drink Green and Peppermint tea so asked for these. They cleared away our previous cups, saucers and strainer. When they returned with the fresh tea, they just brought clean cups, no saucers, spoons and nothing to put the strainer on. They asked who was having which tea and when we poured the teas out they were the wrong way round. The whole afternoon tea lasted less than 30 minutes. Given the price of £59 per person, in a word, it was unbelievable. Having had a consistent quality and memorable experience at the Ritz previously, we would pay £13 more and go there every time.

I have had many afternoon tea's in main central london hotels and this was without doubt the worst and most disappointing. Poorly trained staff, limited amounts of food. Overly priced in every way poor food and service. We paid extra for champaign and it was served warm! There were three of us and when I pointed out there were only two chocolate tarts I was told every tray only had two!....When the sorbet was served without a spoon the waitress told me bluntly to use the one in my tea cup that had been stirring my tea. Deffinitly not a luxury experience and not worth the money.

We had booked the 'Be Our Guest' (Beauty & the Beast themed) afternoon tea and ordered free-flowing champagne with it once the staff realised that was an option. It started well; our waitress (Jess) was fantastic, super attentive, friendly and making sure that our champagne glasses were never empty. The food was fine, it was nice with a change to the traditional content and Jess came over and offered us second and third helpings of the sandwiches. Unfortunately, her shift ended before our sitting and as soon she'd left, everything fell to the floor! We observed Jess give instructions to her colleagues about our table and explaining which champagne we were having, but no one came to our table. After 20 minutes with empty glasses, we managed to draw attention to the staff who first came with the wrong bottle, then gracefully explained to us that we could have one more glass - indicating that we had now gone over our allocated time for the free-flowing. We explained again that we had sat with empty glasses for over 20 minutes with no one coming to our table, but it wasn't really acknowledged, and our empty water tumblers were not filled up either. More time went, with no one checking on us. Two ladies who had arrived at the table next to us were also left for a very long time with no attention after being seated (which was done in a very unprofessional manner - the waiter who seated them literally just pulled the chairs out and then walked away without checking they got to their seats). After an hour, we finally managed to get staff to our table again after many attempts. We asked for the bill and if we could take our cakes with us. A box was handed to us to pack the cakes away ourselves (that has never happened anywhere we've been. Even at our local pub, they will pack our leftovers for us). When the bill came, we explained that we did not wish to pay for the service charge as the last hour had been appalling. The manager came over and we explained that there was no service at all after Jess had left. We emphasised how great Jess had been and we hope that the management will reward her. The apology we received didn't feel sincere and in the end, they offered to take one of the charges for the afternoon tea off the bill as well as the service charge. We did appreciate that, but we are most likely not going back because that last hour ruined the whole experience. On a final note; the live harpist was really nice, but it was a great shame that the music that was played during her breaks, was a massive clash in style and not very fitting for the atmosphere. The only reason I am giving three and not two stars is because of Jess. There is no doubt that if her shift hadn't ended, I would have given at least four stars.

Went for the Be Our Guest Afternoon Tea. Seated in the restaurant which had a harpist playing music through out our tea, which is a nice touch. We requested the champagne option, this was poured from a mixture of two bottles so was not bubbly as it should be served. Then served an amuse-bouche, this was two juices poured out of two tea pots, the server did not cope well pouring these together and some spilt onto the floor. The open sandwiches and finger sandwiches were served to each and were fine to eat although not overly tasty. These plates were cleared and a lychee sorbet served, by now far to many cups and saucers on the small table the three of us were seated at. The sweet selection was served on a cake stand, although these looked quite nice none were overly tasty. During us eating these another cup was put on the table with dry ice and liquid poured into which gives a 'magical display' as the server slopped this and poured much in the cup, the table was covered by mist and we could not see what we had on our plates, all very embarrassing, as this was not done for all the guests having this afternoon tea. After finishing our tea we paid and left. Not the best tasting food and a pour sloppy service. Most disappointing.

Friend and I went for afternoon tea this weekend. Weare 'experienced' afternoon tea goers at various London hotels (Ritz, Claridges, Dorchester, Savoy, Lanesborough, Berkeley) and have had tea at the Waldorf pre Covid. We were looking forward to it but were really disappointed. We were led through the main Homage seating area to a separate area which had not been set up for the correct number of people booked in. At least one table had to be hurtiedly carried over our heads and 'dressed '. The seats in our area were not the same as in the main restaurant but were badly stained and smelled damp. Our table had a broken metal band around the top, protuding through the table cloth. Other furniture not being used was on the lower level, just covered in protective cloths. It was a very 'unusual' setting for an afternoon tea. The actual tea itself bore no resemblance to that offered on the website. We had said no smoked salmon but expected a selection of the other sandwiches (cheddar & plum tomatoes, Coronation chicken, cucumber & cream fraiche, ham and mustard.). Instead we only had three sandwiches each, all containing tomato (ham and tomato, cream cheese and tomato, pesto and sundried tomato). The savouries usually served were also noticeably absent. There was no offer of a refill on the tea and we only received one cursory check up visit from the staff. As regards the scones, we had one that I wouldn't have served even to my family. It had 'collapsed' during baking and was flat. Easy to see why the Waldorf is now only a 4* hotel based on the tea offered.

I have used this hotel for years and the restaurant has gone through many phases but I was unable to get a table despite residency. Earlier attempts to book for afternoon tea failed but I tried the day before and secured a booking..Sadly , since our recent previous visits the content and quality of the tea has reduced dramatically. Three finger sandwiches, the expected scones jam and cream and just three cakes. A macaroon, jam multi tiered sandwich and a jammy cake with monstrous turquoise icing. Memories of open beef and salmon treats and a fruit jelly became a distant memory as was the offers of more sandwiches and tea. Wonderful live harp playing but overall a great disappointment. Hopefully they’ll up their game for the current austere one reminds me of the last days of THF. YOU only need to disappoint once to kill repeat bookings yet the savings made by the reduced offering cannot be huge. Hotel overall is good as are most staff.

Arrived at the Hotel and was met by Katie who was very pleasant and helpful. The sandwich menu was limited and my wife asked for ham and tomato without mustard which Katie ask the chef for. Whilst waiting we noticed how cold it was in the restaurant and this was felt by the Harpist who was even blowing on her hands to warm them up. The food was presentable when it was served but the ham sandwich was tasteless because a cheap processed ham was evident, this was not expected from an iconic establishment as the Waldorf. This along with the cold temperature was explained to the manageress who apologised. We decided to finish our drinks in the bar which was a little warmer. This was a disappointing experience.

Visited in a Groupon voucher with a friend for £35 bottomless fizz afternoon tea. The restaurant is pleasant, white linens and nice tableware plus a pianist playing. Was dressier than expected but we were dressed fine, thankfully. Soon as we sat down our flutes were topped up with fizz, good start. The sandwiches and two Bellinis were put in front of us and the fillings weren't explained so it was like mystery food. The sandwiches were topped up by someone else and at this point the fillings were explained but we'd already had some.Desserts came and this time were explained very quickly. My friend is vegan and her dessert stand comprised of a pile of fresh fruit on the top layer (pineapple, strawberry & blueberries) two small vegan cakes and two rock hard scones with jam. This was a real vegan cop out - a plate of fruit?! Would be best to say no vegan choice than offer a poor selection. The non vegan choice was satisfactory. For the price of £35 each this was good value as the fizz was kept topped up. Wouldn't want to pay full price though.

Llevaríamos a nuestros padres aquí.

Good value for money on the whole, but the hotel is very dated and there is obviously building work being carried out. Would have chosen a different hotel if I had known.

A really disappointing experience. After booking through OpenTable there was no sign of our booking when we arrived. Luckily there was room so we were seated without issue. As my husband has a nut allergy we have to be a little careful, but in the main restaurants usually deal with this well. After ordering our food my husbands starter arrived except with one key element missing (which was why he ordered the dish). When he asked why it was missing they said it was because it might contain nuts (eventually we ascertained that it wasn't on the ingredients, it was just made off site which is why they couldn't guarantee it). In all other restaurants usually someone would come and ask if you still wanted the dish or would like to choose something else. Instead we felt like you just get what you're given, there was no explanation at all. The waitress didn't do well in hiding her irritation at us wanting to know why it was incomplete or whether there were nuts were in the ingredients. Her words were polite enough but her demeanour was pretty unfriendly. The replacement starter took a long time to arrive so we ate at different times. All other waiting staff were pleasant enough but we felt unwelcome and because of this would not recommend this restaurant. A shame as the room is beautiful and the food is nice (though the bathrooms really need a re-furb!). Restaurants, please stop treating nut allergy sufferers like unwelcome guests.

Homage at Waldorf is a large gracious room but sadly only half full on a Friday night. We had the special offer of three courses for £35 with a glass of bubbly. There seemed to be some confusion over this menu and we had to ask for the bubbly. Food was good and the puddings especially were artistically presented. Considering the location this us an excellent offer and we enjoyed the fact that it was not noisy and the tables were well spaced unlike many restaurants in Covent Garden.

The restaurant was good. We got their early and asked to see if we could be seated early. We were going to the theatre and didn’t wan to rush. We could but only 15 minutes early. We had cocktails in the Parrot bar which was quirky and interesting. When we went to be seated the restaurant was fairly empty. I know there was another party somewhere else but the service didn’t seem busy. Anyhow the meal was really good and they do a day set menu which could be supplemented from the a la carte. So food, wine and service was very good. Why we needed to wait - not sure.

I was really disappointed with the quality of the sandwiches, we were offered turkey and cranberry, egg, and a ham sandwich. The bread was old and stale and the ingredients used were of a very low quality. Greggs ingredients are of better quality. We went here as a group of 7 and were left bitterly disappointed. I would have expected that for the money we were charged that even if the portions are ridiculously small, that at least the quality would have been better. However, The staff were friendly and professional.

We went for the free flowing champagne afternoon tea at £55 per head, The room is very pretty and when the music is on it is lovely . Sandwiches are the worst I have had on an afternoon tea. Dry , hardly any filling and you could not distinguish the taste of each of them ! the cakes were pretty but the scones were very soggy in the middle ... The tea was fine , not very hot.... The crockery and the glasses I felt were very catering standard , nothing special , the glasses were like something you buy for a house party from a supermarket ! there was nothing special about any of it ... overall I would not return , I have had afternoon tea at The Mayfair, The Dorchester and few other hotels in London .. This was certainly not up to par in any way .

Booked afternoon tea through woucher, and at first was impressed with the location and decor of the room. We were asked if we had any dietary requirements and which tea we would like and then we waited... The sandwiches were dry and not much filling in them, and had to ask twice for the pots of tea! They arrived as we started on the cakes, and we felt our table was being avoided with the fizz, other tables were being refilled regularly ours seemed to be only when the glass was empty and the deal said a bottle of bubbly, which we didn't get! We felt the service was not as good as other places we had been to because it was a deal we had bought so we didn't leave any tip! Would of been really disappointed if I had paid the full price too!

Booked the Mamma Mia afternoon tea through Groupon. Although through a bit of a mix up with Groupon I'd ended up with two reservations, the front of house were completely fine about it and showed to a table in their special area by the windows. The Mamma Mia part was that they have music playing along with still photos from the show on a small screen, and some of the cakes had a Greek theme. Service was friendly and the food was good. My wife enjoyed the free flowing prosecco and must have had about 6 glasses in total. A very enjoyable afternoon.

Went for afternoon tea with my daughter's and my aunt before going to mamma mia.. the food was very fresh and beautifully presented and was delicious... however what made our visit extra special wasn't the beautiful decor and the cleanliness it was the fantastically welcoming staff.. Megan a young French woman was warm and interested in where we had been and then going.. we where served promptly by Antonio who was lovely with my youngest daughter (which isn't the norm as my daughter has Downs and some people tend to ignore her) he laid her napkin out for us and made a wee extra fuss of her...Antonio was very attentive which was lovely.. both of these people made our day much nicer and the waldorf should be thankful they are lucky to have such wonderful staff.. another lady was fan but we didn't get her name however she did say she was going to Edinburgh with her husband for her anniversary... the only one complaint l have is the chocolate cake with the purple icing wasn't great but there was plenty of other food to choose from.. l loved the real tea.. and the best service ever thanks Megan and Antonio... hope yo see you again soon..

On arrival you turn left to a small but quaint area where they had a clip of the musical Mumma Mia playing on a tv screen with music. The afternoon tea itself wasn’t themed, but still nice enough. A few flies around which I mentioned and the waiter wasn’t quite as attentive with topping up our glasses as he could have been, but they brought out a plate with happy anniversary on for my mum when I’d only mentioned it in passing on the phone previously which was a lovely surprise. Overall a ‘nice’ experience.

I took my daughter and partner here for the Mamma Mia themed afternoon tea. The tea was ok as expected but the ‘theme’ was just music playing in the background. Not really themed at all and both of the ladies were left a little disappointed by it. You were also just stuck in a small area to the left of the entrance, definitely not The Ritz! Not sure if this where they normally have afternoon tea but it was a little disappointing for such a great hotel.

The food was good but the service left a lot to be desired. Took a long time to come and take our orders. Stood at the till for ages. I have a blue light card and showed the man at the till he said I needed to have my ID badge with me which I did not know about and my friend who’s had her blue card for ages has never been asked for her ID before. I explained was new and I could show my bank card which has same name as on blue light card but they said no had to be my badge. Would have been nice to know this before as it’s not stated anywhere. Food was ready I could see it but only one person serving food and some other members of staff walking round. It was very busy but still they could have had more people helping with serving so that food got out quicker and not left sat on the serving shelf for ages. Didn’t get served together so I had to eat my food in front of my friends and their children on my own while they waited for their food. This was even though we ordered at the same time. My friends made me eat it or would have gone cold as I wanted to wait. Very busy and noisy. I’m use to hearing the usual nandos Spanish music but couldn’t even hear it as people where so loud.
