Perfect food and pure feeling of an African. However, the waiting times need to improve

I have ordered food through Aberdeen eat and I am not satisfy with meal. They don't taste fresh

Our first time in Newcastle, we needed something that my two boys are comfortable”” eating. And we found this restaurant. I usually don’t write a review but I must this time. We stood waiting for a while and young boy came and has no clue what’s available. Anyway, we ordered and got to the hotel to found out my assorted vegetable soup so not so assorted, I was given pounded yam instead of eba. The chicken that came with the jollof rice was not well cooked. In short, the only thing ok was the suya. Very disappointing and as usual, another Nigerian restaurant not up to standard. I’ll not go back or recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience at African Kitchen and Lounge. A friend regularly eats here so it was highly recommended. I had the pleasure of devouring the starch and owo soup - the taste was sensational! The portion was was great too. My meal was stepped down with Star beer, a great paring, recommended by the owner. It was also great to watch the boxing match between Dubois and Joshua. Overall, it was a lovely evening, chilled with good vibes. If you're reading this, I highly recommend that you visit African Kitchen and Lounge, for a real taste of home away from home 😊

Easy to place order for take-out via phone, Waiting period extended after arrival time for collection. For a small dining area, volume of music was extremely loud. Personal preference not to dine in. Of the three meals ordered, the grilled fish with yam chips and fried plantain was the best.

Great place to enjoy all kinds of African dishes and instant served hot meals. Such can't be found else in Newcastle. Excellent communication with great customer service delivery. Customers are advised to ring to place your order.

I recently visited this place and I had the best moment ever since I came to the UK. I just love everything about this place and I will constantly visit the place. The Kitchen is worth recommending to everyone. Isiewu plenty like tomorrow no dey.

Disgusting, Disgusting!! Absolutely disgusting!!!! Male Staff attending to I and my friend had taken our orders.. eventually came back to say they weren’t available. We made a new order. While we waited for about 30 minutes, he came back to say he had forgotten what we ordered. It was so embarrassing that we had to ask him if the food wasn’t even being prepared yet, after waiting for that long. He got aggressive and said we shouldn’t make a big deal out of it. He was almost about to hit us for asking the questions. Another customer had to hold him down. Went ahead to order us out of the restaurant because he felt we were new into the country. The lady in the kitchen commented “This is not Nigeria, seems like you are new to this place”. I and my friend found this quite disturbing, unpleasant and disgusting. It shows a high level of ignorance and disrespect to customers. They showed no sign of remorse whatsoever for their behaviour. I will never recommend anyone to this place if you want to be treated with respect.

The African food was nice, services good. The portions were very huge- I only ate a quarter of the food served.

I ordered suya ... there is difference between beef and fat.. This is the last time I would get something from you people.

the driver did not give me my order ,he asked me to give him £5 that he initially went to a wrong address ,I said No and he said he would trash my food . he insulted me and drove off

Nice restaurant, good music, tasty food, great service but very slow. There's parking right outside but for a few cars. Overall, it was a good experience, worth trying out.

i ordered pounded yam and egusi soup. the soup wasnt too bad,however,the pounded was too soft with seeds all over. i couldnt eat the pounded yam,had to bin it. awful!

African Kitchen and Lounge should have been named Naija kitchen because it boasts of arguably one of the best menu around the area. Their menu is even richer than some restaurants in Nigeria. My first experience here, I had semo with Oha or Egusi soup or so. I didn’t really feel it coz my taste buds was still fresh from Naija. Next experience was the fish and chips. The fish was loaded and very well seasoned. I’m going back for more. It’s advisable you order that fish before you get there so you can walk-in and start digging in. The African Kitchen also boasts of a wide range of alcoholic beverages and nonalcoholic beverages. From high end drinks to the Roots (if you know. You know). Great job guys. Keep the Naija 🇳🇬 vibe always.

the most DISGUSTING dried out fish i have ever experinced . THE manager was very very rude nd LIED blaintly that the joloff rice and vile fish ws only thing on menu left , hidious food and dredful customer service avoid like plauge

Generally speaking it was a good place but the isi ewu I ate was nothing to write home about. Very bony and not well made. I won't recommend. The drinks were cold and the service superb but the food I ate wasnt the best

My husband and I visited this place and the food was amazing! We had vegetable soup with assorted meat! The soup was SO delicious and not watery at all! We had the grilled fish which was on another level!! The Abacha, jollof rice was so yummy! The food there took me to heaven!! Good portion size, excellent food and wonderful customer service!! The menu had alot of food which other restaurants don't serve for example grilled fish and abacha. I can't wait to go there again!!

Starch and Banga soup has been my favourite meal since I discovered this place. At the moment, this is the only restaurant I know of in Newcastle with Starch and Banga on its menu. The restaurant has several dishes on their menu, but I would recommend you try their Starch and Banga if you haven't done so. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere warm and clean, with a touch of Afrobeat music. You would definitely love it.

Ordered Egusi soup on Deliveroo, the portion size was ridiculous. You pay £15 for 1/3 of a plastic container. Not enough for 1 person at all. It was supposed to be “assorted meat” there’s was one peace of meat in there. The rest was bone. The taste was not bad but definitely not worth the price. Deliveroo took over an hour.

Suya tasted like I was in Allen 😂. Fish and chips tasted like I was downtown Lagos. Wonderful food. Excellent service. I’ll visit again

Amazing food with a nice authentic taste. I had Jollof rice with plantain and beef. I also tried the fried rice and it all tasted delicious. Arrived at a good temperature and tasted fresh.

Their Nkwobi is super delicious, Barbecue Fish comes with plantains and Dundu (Fired yams) with assorted stew. Omo that suya make sense.

I enjoyed the food. I had swallow ( pounded yam and Bitterleaf..such a delight) had small stout, assorted spice meat, isi ewu and fish. I didn't really like the fish buy hey 3 out of 4 is a good score in my book. It's not like a proper restaurant more like our typical naija canteen but with a UK standard, lol. It's a small spot so I would not recommend hosting like a group event here. I also will not recommend for a first date but definitely a second or third after you've already made a good first and / or second impression 😀. Easy to locate. There are ample of parking space available, and the busstop is 6 minutes' walk from the spot.

I ordered egusi soup and garri. The soup was delicious. I have tasted egusi soup several times in other places but this soup was a winner. Warm welcome. Quick service. All the staff was so attentive and friendly. Congenial environment to sit in. I will certainly be coming again and I will have no hesitation in recommending you to my friends.

I had egusi and pounded yam, my friend had 2 moin moin and fried fish. They all tasted amazing. The lady owner is so kind, respectful and treats customers very well. My friend is European so the lady took time to explain to her the ingredients that goes in some dishes we asked. My experience here was outstanding, well done.

Very unprofessional with their service they made me wait for my order for almost 2 hrs cause they delivery driver didn’t show up for his shift, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant

Never ordering here again, the food was badly presented, late and what was worse they left the teeth of the goat or cow in the iseiwu, I wanted meat in my banga soup and got the head of a fish, old containers used to deliver the food, absolutely disgusted! I put this food straight in the bin they can keep the money to work on their service.

Food was absolutely delicious. Tasted almost every meal they had and had to buy take away. It is going to be a busy place so more space needed which I will suggest they expand. Will definitely visit over and over again.
