Affogato in Croydon

The world's slowest service. We've been here a few times now and each time it's the same. The place is nice and the food is good but we always get frustrated by the complete lack of service and how glacial slow it is. The waitresses see you are there but do things in their own time - which can be measured using a calendar not a watch. It's as if they are doing us a favour and we are inconveniencing them. Usually there are at least 2 staring at the coffee machine making 1 very slow drink at a time and ignoring all the people sat at tables waiting to order food. Such a pity that the front of house let's the place down. There are so many restaurants and cafes in this area - I think we will be giving some of them our custom and money in future as all else aside Affogato always leaves a frustrated and disappointed taste in the mouth

Absolutely delicious food. So so quick. And the staff are absolutely the most lovely people, so friendly and helpful! Totally reccomend. Food was so so tasty and fantastic value for money! Will be returning

Looks really nice from the outside but once you go inside it does not live up to the expectation. We went in here as it looks so lovely from the street but we went inside just to see what they offer - we were then stared at until we ordered and felt quite uncomfortable about this. We ordered flake milkshakes which were the best but about this visit. Most of the options that are available are in a stand on the counter. I ordered a chicken and cheese melt which was okay but fresh out the microwave, rather than a grill or toasty machine so a bit soggy. My partner ordered the breakfast sandwich; this arrived and was supposedly heated up but only the bread was warm. The fillings were cold and the hash brown, if you can even call it that, felt as if it were still frozen. I asked them to heat it up a bit more, they didn’t seem happy about this but they did. Once this had been done, he was completely put off, the bacon was like plastic toy bacon and tasted disgusting. We then left to find somewhere else he could get something to eat from. I wouldn’t have been so bothered if I hadn’t paid £22 for 2 sandwiches and 2 drinks!!

We went there for Mother’s Day lunch. Nobody bothered to take our order, we waited fo 20 mins then had to call the waitress. Then we waited for another 45 minutes for the food. My husband asked the waitress why it’s taking so long and she started arguing with him about the length of time we had waited instead of apologising. She is a very rude person with no customer service skills and shouldn’t be working in the hospitality industry. There was a family who came in after us, they waited for about 20 mins, when nobody bothered to take their order they just got up and left. Saying that the food is excellent

Just pooped in for coffee and cake. Very friendly staff. Nice piece of carrot cake and skinny latte. Very tasty. Clean facilities and menu looked good too.

I went there with my daughter for breakfast last week. We were seated and then waited a good ten minutes before someone actually came and said that we need to scan the QR code at the table to get the menu. Looking around the restaurant, I saw that others were actually given menus to read. We waited another 10 minutes before the waitress came to take our order (she said she was new). Food was slow to arrive but tasted good but again, was very slow to arrive considering that it was not that busy. When we asked for the bill, they came with the chip and pin machine straight away! Overall good food but poor service. Will not be going there again and won't be recommending to my friends.

When came in we were ignored - we found our own table, sat there for 20min and left. 4 people working there - walking around not ignoring customers and dirty plates. Never coming back

After waiting so long for our order to be taken, there was a very long wait for the food. When it came, there was no Explanation for the wait and when asked about it staff gave very vague unapologetic responses and then they went on in the back to have discussions and giggles. Service does not match the standards they set themselves on and the portions are a cheat. I am Not eager to return to this place at all

Looks pretty.... but over priced and portions are too small. There was a time when you could go Affogato and felt satisfying having a good meal.... now it seems they’ve gone for style over portions.

My husband and I took our kids and dined during the Eat Out to Help Out scheme today. We went for a late lunch having not booked ahead. However, we were seated fairly quickly at a freshly cleaned table. The decor is lovely and modern, it’s clean (very important) and has just an all round happy-cool vibe. We ordered Angus beef burgers which were juicy (you’ll have to tell them to make them medium, otherwise I believe the standard cook is well done). We also ordered chicken goujons for my youngest (tasty, breaded chicken tenders), Philly cheesesteak for the husband, followed by 2x waffles for the kids, and fresh smoothies / iced coffee all round. Fries came with all of our individual mains. The total bill inc. service came to just over £36. Absolute bargain seeing how much food there was. Will definitely be going back even after the 50% offer ends as it’s a lovely place to dine eight the family for brunch / late lunch.

Average, first time eating here, ate dinner one evening and then breakfast, dinner was nice, breakfast was surprisingly average, most definitely had better and size was small too, extremely expensive. Had better for cheaper at a higher standard of restaurant/cafe. Do not know why it’s so expensive.

When we are in Norbury to visit our family we tend to make this a regular meeting spot. We were there last week and while we were the first to get to the restaurant it quickly filled up as we sat down. As you can guess from the name Coffee is a big draw and they have some of the best i found in the area. But what really stole the show for me was the Hamburger. It was perfect...they even had their own sauce!
