Lovely food, friendly staff. Not a fan of the 10% service charge. I always tip but not 20%. Let people tip if they're happy

Fantastic service and over the weekend they went the extra mile for us. Another restaurant on the High St let us down and double booked our table. The Fortuna manager had said they were fully booked but would move some things around to accommodate us. Their friendly and helpful staff helped us have a wonderful night with family :)

Disappointing. Service wouldn’t accept us to order starters first to allow us to have another 2 minutes to find a main. Changing the dish (like changing pasta type or adding an extra ingredient to a dish) was not welcomed. Once our food arrived, no one checked in with us to see whether food was okay or whether we wanted any more drinks. Food was okay but far from great and not justifying the price. One of the dishes was off and salad was not fresh. We complained and got told that the main was fresh and fine and it was just our personal opinion. The salad wasn’t fresh because it was a hot day. We were offered to take the service charge off the bill - which we wouldn’t have paid anyway. Overall disappointing service, expensive and not worth coming back.

Had a Parma Ham and tomato and lettuce sourdough sandwich and a Americano coffee, both were very good. A Lemoncello Spritz was refreshing, but l am a Lemoncello lover and used to a strong drink which is 100% lemoncello, do the Spritz was disappointing to me

Good stuff, and kitchen open later than most around.

The food is below average. Not at all consistent with what is served. The service is appalling by the majority of staff. They're so concerned about shouting to each other and arguing across a room than making sure their customers are happy. It's like a playground for grown men. The atmosphere, used to be great in the old days but not now. The outside is like a sauna because of the plastic roofing and the indoors you're contending with staff and their ignoring customers and arguing and shouting. It's a lose lose situation. They offer gluten free but no pizza bases when I was there. I went for the pasta but I'm not recommending it because of the cross contamination aspect. They're so lax at the front of house that I can't for one second think it's any different in the kitchen. Make sure you check your bill too as they overcharged us by £24 initially. They also add a service charge of 10% automatically. Had I realised this before I'd paid then I would have had that removed too. A tip is for good service, not for the experience I had. Just awful!

Fantastic food Great service All for reasonable price in a genuine family run beautiful space. If you want a quiet time, go on a Monday night If you want more "atmosphere" pick a Friday or Saturday (probably book because it will be packed!)

Unreal food staff drinks and service , recomend to anyone , go here and not across the road to novellos where the manager is rude and unhospitable !!!

The lasagna tasted so bad but the restaurant and staff were so nice

This place is a real delight! Super friendly and dancing staff, great coffee and food, lovely outdoor eating zone too. I had the vegetables panini and it was rosemary bread and packed full of flavour I highly recommend!

Lovely food and not that expensive. Lovely people who work here all polite and kind and nothing is a problem.

Do NOT come here if you have any kind of food tolerance. My girlfriend who made it blatantly clear to the waiter at the time that she was gluten intolerant and was assured each time that her dish was safe was severally contaminated by her food. The waiter clearly had no understanding of her requirements, do not come here if you have any form of dietary needs.

Courteous staff and a great little hidden gem.

Went for restaurant month in January. Had some till programme problems and we had to wait a little while longer than usual. Staff lovely and helpful. Great food and good prices.

Had a great time here for valentine’s day. Pizzas were good. Champagne on the house was a nice touch. Service was great with super friendly staff. Beautiful decor. Would definitely go back :)

Really slow service, had to ask where our food was on more than one occasion - we ended up waiting for 2 hours for our mains, we were all so hungry by the time it came we didn’t properly enjoy it, and one person was forgotten about, they more or less ended up eating on their own. Spoilt the night.

The diavola was £17 which felt expensive. Hand stretched. Fairly standard thin and crispy restaurant pizza. Not my style.

Me & my partner dined here tonight for the first time for our Anniversary and loved it. Delicious Italian food and friendly staff, we will definitely be back :)

Food was very good and more than enough for our huge appetites but we had to wait about 25 minutes before anyone came to take our drinks order. But obce we got that sorted everything was fine. The restaurant wasnt that busy. And i think we were just forgotten about. Atarters were good mains were very good. I normally leave a tip but noticed a service charge on the bill so did not on this occasion. Would go back.

I'm really surprised I hadn't heard about this little gem of a place tucked away on Gosforth High Street. Lovely outside area to sit, both summer or winder. The food looked beautiful and my pizza was cooked front of house and was beautiful. Lovely service and friendly staff.

Left without food for over a hour and a half. When we asked the staff why we are waiting we were told that they were serving the bigger table first even though we were in and had starters delivered before them. Service was very poor ended up leaving food and walking out

Chairs so uncomfortable, tables to close together, staff indifferent, food fine,other than very poor quality muscles, very expensive because of no competition on the High Street. Will be looking forward to Novellos opening shortly. Will never return

As ever, the best espresso in the North East. Triple espresso as is, or Americano with an extra shot are my fave. Food is superb, cannoli & other treats too. Inside the deli/cafe is cosy, plus the indoor outdoor space is brill. So chill & comfy

What a brilliant venue - another reviewer described it as an oasis and that sums it up perfectly. The food was delicious with high quality ingredients and beautifully presented. Staff were friendly and efficient. Adored the theme and vibe of the place and will definitely revisit if I am back in the area.

I’ve visited here numerous times with my wife for food and always had a fantastic experience. We usually eat casually in the front area of the bar / area but tonight we decided to venture further in to sit and eat, and it was perfect. The restaurant is CLEARLY very popular as it was extremely busy at 6pm. We were lucky enough to get a table for 2. We ordered a drink each, a pizza each and a size of skinny fries to share. As expected, this came to around £55/£60 which is what we usually pay for a lovely evening out for food. The service was great but the food was absolutely fantastic. Considering I have had my fair share of pepperoni pizzas in my time… tonight’s pizza was hands down one of the tastiest I have ever had. My wife was also extremely impressed by her Di Capri pizza too. We had a slight error on the bill, which my wife did question and this was resolved instantly, but it is still worth keeping an eye out for. Highly recommend for a lovely relaxed Italian meal out with friends, family or loved ones. The only thing I believe would be useful, is for the menu to have more detail in regards to the ingredients for the options.

Great food and staff, highly recommended!

I really enjoyed our meal here. Food was great and kids options were very good. A little understaffed the night we were there as initial service was slow but friendly. Like return.

Had lunch there after a graduation in Newcastle Uni. Staff were very friendly as usual and food was great as usual. We sat inside but there is an outside area to eat as well. We had a pizza and a pasta dish to share at about £16 each.

Mussels were really good Tampura prawns were tasteless Chucky chips tasted of dirty oil. Pizzas dry hard base and burnt. Service was slow. But cocktails were good. Wouldn’t rush back for food (pizzas anyway) was much better when it was Adriano’s

Visited for lunch. Never eaten here before and will definitely be back. Plenty of choice and also good choice on the lunchtime special menu. Food was tasty and most important hot. Service was good. Will definitely be back 😊

A great little hidden gem of an Italian restaurant the surroundings have changed a bit recently the large olive tree that was in the restaurant has been removed allowing for more tables the service is good the staff are very friendly. The pizza are made in an open kitchen in the back of the restaurant baked in a wood burning oven Good quality and plenty of topping the pasta dishes are also very nice. The atmosphere is much more lively now with music playing. The outdoor seating area is covered with plenty of heaters so it's not too cold

Such a lovely restaurant! Adriano has made a delightful oasis in my village of Gosforth If ever I want to treat my friends and family, or just myself, I come to Adriano’s Fortuna and I am transported into a happy place Lovely atmosphere, pleasant surroundings, always full of happy people. Delicious food , excellent wine, really nice staff. I’ve never had any complaints. Thoroughly recommend it ! 👍 I had the delicious Linguine Scoglio with the Verdiccio wine 🤗

The food was very good . We has a share plate each of both pizza and pasta. It was acually the very best i have tasted in a long time.

A nice enough room in a good location - but the food is beyond average. Service is very hit and miss. My 10 year old son had to send his half cooked pizza away - it’s expensive for deeply average / pretty poor food. My Carbonara had clearly been under a heat lamp for ages. Sadly one to avoid

Seemed promising but sour taste left in mouth. We were really excited to make Adriano's a regular place to go for food, as the food and portions were very reasonable. The place itself was also very nice. One time we visited to try the lunch menu offer. We weren't that hungry so were very clear with the waiter we wanted to share one menu between two, and this seemed to be okay. The waiter gave the impression that the pasta was included as part of the meal - we even double checked with him. Until when it came to paying the bill and it was double what it should have been. We queried and got a dismissive "no... no, no no..." and a "I suppose the menu should be clearer then". Stupid on the waiter though, we were planning on becoming regulars. If you didn't want us to share the cost of one menu you could have just said from the beginning, but misleading us into paying another £10 has put us off.

The Fortuna own label larger is a very good session drink. Good food, great atmosphere. TV with sports. It gets really lively at night too, the place to go in gossy

First time here and would definitely go again. Good was so delicious and pricing was reasonable. Lovely decor inside and plenty of room outside for a bit of al fresco Italian. Brilliant

My mam loved her 90th birthday celebrations at Fortuna, as did we all, so we decided that this was the perfect place to celebrate her life. The staff were once again wonderfully friendly and supportive and helped make this emotionally charged occasion so special. Fortuna is beautifully designed and and the food lives up to the surroundings. I think we will have many celebrations there.

Amazing food, service is prompt with attentive and friendly staff. Went on a Saturday evening and pre-booked a table, which I'm glad I did, as it was heaving with people coming/going throughout my time there. Will definitely go back and recommend it to others.

I visit whenever I'm anywhere near town, as they do THE best espresso in the North East!! Exemplary staff, always happy & helpful - plus beautiful.

We didn't have the starter just chose two main meals which were chef specials .. Nice salmon and chicken but lack of vegetables spoilt it !! Maybe we should have ordered sides to bulk it out ? Friendly waiter but the moving around of tables spoilt the ambiance

Inexperienced staff food quality poor, attitude from staff needs improvement . training , responsibility ,respect the customer they are your paying customers who look forward to a night out with little complications, unfortunately lots of improvement to be made

This is a fantastic place, they hosted my Son's 18th party for us..he had a 25people. the were so attentive, the food was amazing and staff fantastic..they really made us welcome. I would recommend this place to anybody..Will be going back just as a family. Thankyou Fortuna.

The cheapest Prosecco glasses for the very expensive Prosecco! I asked for better glasses, told "they have all been smashed!" Shame , because the food was good! Good waiter with a good sense of humour 👌 Change your glasses! Good atmosphere.

Awful experience. The pasta we had was microwaved so we sent it back and the waiter admitted that it had been re heated- and then took it off our bill. The pizza was completely burnt all around the crusts. Staff were extremely rude and had an awful manner. Definitely avoid.

Food was ok although there's definitely better places in Gosforth now. The problem was with the terrible service; disinterested staff, promised to bring over dessert menus which never arrived after 20mins, no apology when I made them aware of this. The restaurant was also fairly empty with tables still positioned closely together, and there were a number of staff wandering around chatting with each other, so no excuses for lack of attention to their customers. The loud music spilling through from the bar was unnecessary and made conversation difficult. Such a shame this place has really gone downhill since it was taken over.

Firstly, there is a lot to like about this place, it's full of atmosphere, nicely decorated and the staff are attentive and friendly. We ordered cocktails to start which were lovely and well made, then organic white wine which was lovely and ice cold. There's a good choice of food something for most tastes. We went for cheesy garlic bread to share, which was as described; incredibly cheesy and garlicy, but a tad burnt, but without any fuss they just didn't charge us for it. For mains we had salmon and seafood linguini, both ample portions for northern girls; a massive slab of salmon which was cooked to perfection for me with around eight million potatoes and a good size bowl of linguini for my friend bursting with lots of seafood, again excellent and good value. 2 drawback, the girls serving were excellent, then one young lad came up to give us our mains and just said "ooz-is-ooz"? Which made us laugh, but I thought after that it didn't seem that fittingwith the rest of the teams attitude. The second thing was the music SOOOOO LOOOOUD! I'm ok with it being Friday night to get the punters in but it was insane. Turn it down! All in all a lovely experience. Ta pet.

Brought the wrong meal out, very reluctantly replaced it, then "accidentally" overcharged my group. Recommend you carefully compare the menu price with what you get billed.

Being a golden oldie there were a lot of younger clients. However the food, drinks and level of service were excellent. The young lady who served us was very attentive and could not be faulted.

Second time I`ve been here. Atmosphere and surroundings are great even on Monday night.An 1/2 hr wait to get to table and service a little slow are only minor downsides.Food is fab and pizza is excellent Back for a visit in Apr 22,It`s called Adrianos Fortuna now. Food still great,enjoyed the ribs, pizza, Padrón peppers. The vibe and decor has changed all looks good.Music playing loud as you walk in to the restaurant,thankfully it is not so loud in the main eating area.I enjoyed it but can appreciate the comments regarding the loud music in the bar area.Obviously they've gone after the younger customer here which is understandable.I left a tip, as you do and found there is a 10% service charge on the bill which I discovered the next day.😁🤣😒
