We had a 3 night stay at the Admiral Nelson. On arrival we were met by hosts Karen and Wayne, and instantly were made to feel at home, It was like meeting up with old friends. The room was excellent, clean and fresh, couldn’t really be better. The breakfast was excellent, all demands met (my wife was running a marathon and Karen got up early to sort a special early breakfast) we loved the Lincolnshire sausages!. We had one evening meal, which was fabulous. I would most definitely recommend this B&B to anyone. If we visited the area again, we would definitely be staying here. Excellent value for money. Nothing was too much trouble, they gave superb recommendations on places to visit and things going on in the area. They also run the Chateau de Vaudezert in Normandy, be sure to check out their website. Thank you both for your hospitality ❤️

Went in for a couple of drinks on a Saturday night. The atmosphere inside felt uncomfortable. Seemed to be full of snobs looking down their noses at everyone, just turned around and left to go to sa proper pub.

We had a table for 5 of us tonight with an open mind on the Mediterranean cuisine. All dishes were freshly cooked, proven by the taste, around 30 minutes from order which was well worth the wait for the fresh cooking. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and courteous, and as for the kitchen - first class for them all. A very nice dining experience, nice atmosphere, a very fine range of gins to ponder over, and will definitely recommend trying the Spanish Chicken, such an amazing dish. You’ve just got to go here, it’s so good.

Enjoyed a family meal Saturday 5 May in my brothers local. Attentive, friendly service and great pre-dinner drinks: nice choice of beers and gins. Starters reasonably priced, garlic mushrooms as they should be, and mackerel pate nicely flavoured. Lamb cooked to perfection, sea bass moist and flakey with crispy skin, nice veg. Lasagne lovely, king prawns and linguine fab. Many thanks to the friendly staff, will be back soon

Visited for the first time on 13th April for an evening meal with friends. Karen, the owner, was very welcoming and full of information about her establishment and what they had to offer. After drinks in a comfortable seating area our orders were taken and we were advised of the wait time as everything was to be cooked from scratch. A very good way of keeping customers happy. At the promised time we were taken to our table and the service was spot on. Karen always had a smile, willing to please, and she did please with her food, service and that smile. Good parking which is important these days. Non of our party had any complaints. Would certainly go again.

Visited with friends for a meal on a Saturday evening and received a warm welcome and enjoyed very tasty food. The pub is very tastefully decorated and comfortable, but would have preferred the pool table annexed and not in the dining space.

Having noted other reviews we tried to call this Pub to book a table - but without success - we left a message asking for a call back. As we have relatives nearby we were visiting we decided to call ‘on the off chance’ of there being a table available as we passed. On entering the car park though it was clear to see that the kitchen area was all closed off and in darkness - there were though one or two people we could see in the bar area. We got back into the car and went elsewhere. It was after we ordered our food there that we had a call back from this Pub ( six hours after we called!) Not particularly impressed- maybe this is a new place that needs to be checked out - but it would be good to receive a prompt response as a means to attracting future custom.

Booked a table for four adults Saturday Evening. On entering the premises we were greeted with a massive smile from whom I think was the proprietor, her whole approach was one of friendliness. The other three people in the party knew exactly what they wanted to drink, but I was undecided, finally I chose one of the speciality gins, and the lovely lady took her time to explain what variety it was. The drink came in a lovely glass, with only a small amount of tonic poured in for me and then the rest of the bottle handed to me personally, not left on the bar for me to pick up. We were then shown to our table and handed the menu. We ordered a sharing board for three for starters, and oh my goodness it was amazing. There were three meats, large chunk of cheese, bread, olives, salad, chutney, tomatoes....plenty for four. One of the group ordered the lamb, and we were advised we would be waiting approx 30 mins, we were happy with this as it gave us time to soak up the atmosphere, and have a good talk, and also gave time for the starter to be digested. When the main course arrived, again it looked superb. The presentation was excellent. The ladies were served first, which again was a polite gesture. All four of us were totally satisfied with what had been placed in front of us. The food was delicious, could not be faulted at all. The wine ( merlot) was also very good, and fair in price. We decided that we were all full so declined the sweets on offer, which again sounded scrummy. We decided to retreat to the lounge area for coffee and brandy, again we felt very much at home and welcome as this area is so comfy. The bar area is frequented by the regulars which you expect to find in a village community, and it was great to see everyone mixing in. The two men in our party also eyed up the pool table, a good job that it was in use or I think we may have been there for longer than we were. The evening went very quick, and it was soon 11.15 so thought we had better book a taxi. We said our goodbyes to the staff and thanked them for the experience. The meals are well priced for the quality, content, and presentation. Would we return, YES WITHOUT A DOUBT. I shall certainly be recommending to friends and family. I would also use the Admiral Nelson to take visiting friends for a drink on a Saturday night, as the atmosphere and ambience and surroundings are wonderful. Thanks to all who made our evening ( which was also our wedding anniversary) a lovely night out.

The best Sunday lunch I have had for a long time! The food was beautifully presented with onion and bacon in the peas, the sharing board was a great idea for the meat, yorkshires and the tomatoes with bread crumbs and garlic were to die for. Potatoes and the leek bake was excellent, and all in all the eating experience was awesome. Very good value for well presented food with extra thought put into it! Would I go again? NOT ARF!!!!

I may be a bit biased as I am a local , But my wife and I went two weeks ago and was very impressed the Service was superb, the Food was presented very well as in the look of the Sharing board, the meat was perfectly cooked and the roasted veg perfect, everyone around us that was eating you could hear their comments and they all seemed to be enjoying their lunch as much as us, everything was fabulous no complaints, will certainly be going again in the near future and it all was very good value for money. well done to all the staff.

Firstly the pub has been renovated to a very good standard and looks fantastic however it is a shame the service really lets its down. We ordered our food to be told that it wasn't available on the night even though we had been given the menu!?! When we had reordered the food didn't appear for over an hour which I would have understood if the pub was busy but there was only a handful of people in there. When the food finally came mine was very nice, prawn with Pasta. Good portion size and plenty of prawns. My partners carbonara however wasn't the same story, it seemed to have been paid with sour cream, unfortunately it wasn't really edible. When I came to pay the member of staff apologised for the wait but to my surprise had added drinks to our bill that we hadn't had. After some discussion she agreed to take them off but didn't apologise. If they get the service right this place could be lovely.

We called in here for a drink as it's on the Skegness to Boston road and it looked as though it had been refurbished. Wow! What a great first impression. Clean modern spacious lines with both traditional Batemans ales alongside premium gins and vodkas. A great range of fevertree tonics too. Got chatting to owners as both serving and they have invested a lot of time, effort and money into the place. I don't think it will be wasted as Lincolnshire needs more places like this to compete with Norfolk & Cambridgeshire. I wish Karen & Wayne well and we will do our best to support you now we've found you!!!

Visited this weekend - stayed at the B & B part and ate in the restaurant.First the restaurant - 2 steaks, 2 bottles of wine, 2 desserts for just less than £40. Delicious food, proper chips and steak cooked how I like it. Home made puddings. Accommodation - clean but in desperate need of updating. Had booked room at last minute - not ensuite but did have a private bathroom. Ok as long as you haven't got a weak bladder . Bathroom desperately needs some TLC. Breakfast made up for the disappointment with the bedroom and bathroom - delicious!Staff - lovely, friendly and very welcoming.

Word to the wise though, best to book, only so you can be sure of getting food. And the 2 steak meals and bottle of wine meal deal on a Saturday, £25.00, go on. Give other a try.

Went for a meal and the landlord was rude and miserable. Moaned about cooking a well done steak as he thinks should be rare & then said inappropriate things about vegetarians. Thought we couldn't hear him but we were seated near the kitchen door & he wasn't talking quietly. After all this food was terrible. Landlady came across as nosey. Called in on Sunday for a roast dinner and we weren't disappointed, the food was delicious! The food is fresh and well cooked, couldn't ask for more. The landlady was very friendly and nothing was too much hassle for herThe only downside for me was the general decoration of the pub, there was a broken chair where we were sat and the wall paper was peeling off the walls, the outside has had a makeover so maybe the inside will have one too?

I called in with my two young children for a Sunday lunch. We were greeted warmly by the landlady and her family. We ordered the beef roast and it was absolutely delicious!! I could tell that the ingredients were fresh and of good quality, the beef fell apart it was that tender. No frozen roast potatoes served there! There were ample vegetables served alongside the roast that we could help ourselves to. It was served in all I can say 'high end' restaurant style, I could tell that the chef takes pride in what he serves. The waitress was attentive (even bringing the dreaded ketchup for my youngest monster). All in all, it was a gem of a find. We normally end up at something along the lines of a Brewers Fayre for ease with the kids but we all know what the food is like there. The Admiral Nelson is way ahead of places like that in regards to the quality of the food and personal service. We'll be calling in again when we're next in the area.

We called in at the Admiral Nelson in Bennington more by luck than chance on our way to Skegness hoping for a simple county meal, we were greeted by a smiling face and an offer of good food, both the landlady and landlord were friendly from the off and the welcoming atmosphere by the locals made the stay even better. The food was second to none and I find other remarks on here a little puzzling, the food was hot, cooked to our asking and well presented to us by cheerful friendly staff. We asked if there was accommodation available and the landlady replied they were new tenant's and they were having the rooms refurbished to a better standard, they did let us stay and once more they made every effort to make us feel at home, we had a hearty breakfast, again nothing seemed to small or trivial to the landlady/landlord in making us feel welcome. A big thank you to the Admiral Nelson and all who sail in her, we will return to the village next time we are in the area.

Visiting the area for the day, we located The Thatched Cottage via Tripadvisor. Booked a table for late lunch. Fortunately a pleasant day as having our furry friend with us we had to sit outside. Our lunch was as good as hoped for; a generous portion of roast lamb, served on a bed of lovely mash, accompanied by red cabbage, yorkshire pud, roasties and apricot stuffing. The sides of creamy blue cheese leeks and trio of carrots, french beans and swede were colourful and tasty. Our meal was served promptly and the half pints of Doom Bar washed our lunch down nicely. Friendly service A thoroughly enjoyable lunch, a good find which we would recommend We may not have booked had it been a cold wet day, delighted it wasn't. Note to TTCR, perhaps look at a doggy owner corner in your bar for diners over the winter months?
