Admiral Hardy in Greenwich

We stayed for one night as we were going to the O2. The pub itself is lovely, and the rooms are clean and well kept. Staff were welcoming and had good local knowledge on how to get to/ from the venue itself. Given there was a wedding on, plus a market out the back we were surprised how little noise there way… nice an peaceful. As the rooms are part of the pub which opens at 12pm there is no breakfast option but there are many options in the local area. Similarly there were a lot of stairs to the room so maybe not ideal if any mobility issues, but overall for what we needed it was an ideal venue. We will certainly be back.

lovely accommodation, excellent location for going to a concert at the O2- can walk there in about 40 minutes. The room was clean and bright, the shower was great, and even with the market right on the doorstep it was very quiet in the room. Staff were friendly, check in was easy. Very generous portion of vegan Sunday roast- good value for money.

I went to The Admiral Hardy with my family and sisters. The service was great and the food was served very quickly. We all chose to have fish & chips and this is where things changed. Each of us all agreed that the fish was not up to the mark being that it had spent to long in the food warmer. When this happens the flesh of the fish starts diminishing and you are left mostly with the crispy batter. The batter on the fish in this case was very hard. The chips with the meal seamed like oven chips and these also appeared to have been left in the warmer for a long time. Hopefully The Admiral hardy will take these remarks and cook to order in future, I'm sure people would rather have a decent freshly cooked meal and wait a little longer rather than food that's been in the food warmer for hours on end.

I have been using the Admiral Hardy, for a few Years. The Managers, Dave & Ania, and the assistant manager, Alexandria. Have assembled a good team, they have an eye for detail. And understand customer care. Friendly, and they make you feel welcome. I highly recommend a visit.

We had one night in Greenwich visiting friends. Room was clean and staff very friendly. Breakfast is not offered, but we ate at the Cutty Sark Cafe Restaurant and Bar. Other breakfast options are available, and there are food stalls in Greenwich Market. The Admiral Hardy backs on to the market which offers a wide variety of shopping and dining options. The rooms are reached by several flights of steps - note no elevator. Accommodation is very handy for visiting the Cutty Sark, Old Royal Naval College, Royal Observatory and the National Maritime Museum.

Nous avons déjeuner à l'intérieur, côté pub. Accueil sympa, service rapide, repas standard. Les fritures sont un peu épaisses, c'est dommage.

Food was horrible. Children’s meals were cold and fish and chips soggy. Will not visit again. Very expensive too.

Amazing beef pie with mash potato, very good selection of beer and lovely staff. I absolutely recommend.

My sister and I went to this pub today for a late lunch. We ordered food after a long wait for someone to take our order. When the food came, it was over cooked and inedible, particularly my sister’s meal. She spoke to the manageress who was completely disinterested but offered take part of her meal off of the bill. When it came to settling the bill, we said we were not happy that we were paying for any of the food as it was all inedible. My sister asked to speak to the landlord, but he refused to speak to us and sent his manageress who had already made it clear she had no interest. We begrudgingly paid the bill and, on our way out, my sister approached the landlord who was instantly aggressive and refused to enter into any discussion - smirking and saying he had more important things to do. Out of frustration, my sister, unfortunately, used some strong language. At which point, the landlord became very threatening, chasing us out and saying things like “See what happens next” and “you haven’t heard the end of this “. He followed us out and repeatedly implied that something bad was going to happen to us. He was so vile that I must admit I am concerned he could try to track us down from my credit card details. I am going to report this to the police in case there is any “payback” for us having the audacity to complain about a terrible meal! In all my years of dining out, I have had some rubbish customer service, but I have never been intimidated and threatened for complaining,

Not much of an atmosphere but a warm welcome from the staff. Pretty good selection of drinks for such a small pub but pretty pricey.

Popped in for Saturday lunch with my parents and we were really pleased with the food and the service. Friendly staff and all the food was tasty and good portion sizes. The honey and mustard sausages were a particular highlight!

My review is a bit late as we stayed here in June but better late than never. Anna who greeted us is a lovely lady and showed us to our room. There is very steep flight of stairs up to the rooms and Anna offered to take our bags up for us. The room was very comfortable and in style with the maritime history of Greenwich. It is a short walk to the Cutty Sark, Maritime museum and the Royal Observatory. We had tickets to see Queen at the 02 and this hotel is ideal for getting there as a bus stop that takes you the whole way is around the corner. There is access to Greenwich market through the hotel so that’s another plus. A lovely little coffee shop is on the corner near the hotel and has some tasty treats. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the pub area is nice too. For saying our room was above the pub we didn’t hear much. We had lovely views from our room and overall a very pleasant stay. Will definitely stay here again.

J'ai fait une halte dans ce pub pour goûter leur fish and chips. Le service est impeccable et le fish and chips n'a rien d'exceptionnel mais était bon ! Le personnel est serviable et j'adore le cadre de ce pub. Bon rapport qualité prix !

Was in Greenwich doing a bit of site seeing and stumbled across this place almost by accident They were advertising a Sunday Lunch and we were very tempted The place was busy but there was no problem getting seated Wait Staff were very friendly and helpful Food was good quality, the Sunday Roast portions were generous as well Service was not slow either We were glad we picked here for lunch

Awful place, booked for an event at the O2 just before COVID, was told not to cancel or request a refund and that the hotel would honour the payment and booking at a later date - confirmed by two separate members of staff. Tried to make arrangements to stay recently and was told they would not accept this and to contact Expedia instead. Have gone through all this to get back the £135 The Admiral Hardy have taken from me for them to turn around to Expedia and say they will no longer refund. Completely unacceptable and outrageous. Have yet to actually visit but felt this place needed to hear this and that people should see before booking or considering visiting!

We stayed here for one night in December and what a beautiful find in the heart of Greenwich. The pub does not supply Breakfast but this was not a problem at all as it was so easy to get into the centre of London. The rooms were decorated to a very high standard and were very comfortable. The bathroom was excellent. We would definately stay here again when visiting London.

I was left feeling incredibly let down by the service on offer here unfortunately. I had been enjoying Greenwich and was desperate for the loo so, instead of just walking into the pub and using the loo as some people may do, I politely asked...

Visited for the first time on Saturday, very good reception the young waitress took us to our table, she was very friendly and always smiling. We ordered round of drinks at the bar, the barmaid was also friendly. Music was really good a fair few...

Visit on Sunday, was not very busy. Ordered a cheeseburger without cheese and Coke, the burger arrived with cheese, have to take the melted cheese out and notice a weird taste was not very happy with the burger, half way into my meal a waitress...

Love this hotel! It is perfectly situated by the Old Naval College, Cutty Sark, Greenwich museums and literally steps away from Greenwich Market. The rooms are excellent: quality furnishing and linen; spotlessly clean and with all the little details for a comfortable stay.

Perfect place to have a drink with friends, been here many times already! First time was for a X-mas dinner for my team and and whole staff took great care of us! Food is amazing, the burger and fish and chip are the best in...

Found the drinks expensive but they can charge the prices for a fairly ordinary and dull venue because of its location. Would like to point out that a service charge of 12.5% was added to our bill for the luxury of drinks being brought 10...

What a great place. Wonderful warm welcoming pub, tastefully decorated. The ambiance was so wonderful we stayed for more hours than we had planned to!! Our meals were perfect. Sausage and mash was delicious and warming, we had just got off the river cruise so we’re cold and hungry. My husband and son had the fish and chips, batter was light and the fish white and fluffy. We sat overlooking the Thames. Highly recommend this venue. We will definitely return.

It’s very laid back. In fact it’s so laid back that you may not get served for some time. When I was there someone had smashed a load of glasses on the bar floor and two waitresses were rather ineptly clearing it up and leaving the sole chap to serve. This took some time. The vibe is good, it’s not too loud and the lighting is just right. I’d say this is probably the best of the three pubs I have so far been on in the pub crawl in which I am currently engaged. Certainly I’m regretting number three...

My wife and I went here for a Sunday lunch and family reunion. Absolutely loved it. Ambience, service and food quality was top notch. The Roast, on the outset was thought to be a bit pricey but when the food was served you could see why it was priced so (£16 with additional cost for add on).Never been here before but will definitely return especially with other members of the family.

The food was better than average for pub food. Broiled chicken and chips done to perfection w great aioli. The thing that set it apart was a great music soundtrack. Someone knows their 60’s to 80’s artists quite well. Great service.

Dropped in for lunch on a quiet, rainy Monday. Nicely decorated and friendly welcome but disappointing range of real ale. Food was just ok ... burger good but the fish and chips a little soggy. Hadn't spotted (or wasn't told!) that the friendly table service came at a hefty 12% addition to the bill.

Mi esposa y yo pensamos en visitar el recientemente renovado Almirante Hardy, y estamos contentos de haberlo hecho, comida increíble, personal encantador. Han hecho un trabajo brillante con la renovación, no puedo esperar para nuestra próxima visita.

Al pasar mucho tiempo con el pub cerrado, parecía en riesgo de volver a abrir. Reapertó agradablemente a mediados de julio de 2019 como un lugar bastante diferente a su encarnación previa de música en vivo. Tranquilo en nuestra visita, pero pronto debería ponerse al día con el cercano honeypot turístico de Greenwich. Interesante menú de comida pero estuvimos aquí para cervezas reales pero solo había uno. Con suerte, la gama real de cerveza se ampliará y se volverá más aventurera con la gran cantidad de productos de micro cervecerías locales disponibles.

Came late Sunday afternoon and it was packed and we had a large table of foul mouthed customers swearing all the time next to us. Decided not to eat here and it was overpriced too. Toilets disgusting.

After a previous night visit was surprised this time on Sunday Lunchtime. Very nice quite pub where you could sit and chat without interruption.

We stopped in as my family name is Hardy so wanted to check this place out. It was ok for a pub. We ordered our drinks and then tried to order some food but were told they could not take a our food order for about another 20 minutes. Sounded odd to us so we just had our drinks and then left. It is an ok place, large screen tv's to watch the games. We did enjoy our drinks but found it rather pricey for two pints and two wine coolers for the ladies.

Always drop in here for a decent lunch. The food is always great and a decent pint, kids always enjoy their food. Toilets are a bit dingy....this is a proper pub with charm! Recommend lamb shank, sausage and mash, and steak baguette. All yummy

admiral Hardy may not be everyone's cup of tea but if your looking for refreshments in Greenwich in unusual surroundings with loads of nostalgia on the walls this is the place for you.

Near the cutty sark and Greenwich market this pub is a good choice for a drink and/or a bite to eat. The decor is 'quirky' and could do with a lick of paint but that doesn't detract from the drink and food.

Just called in for a quick pint & a bite to eat whilst visiting Greenwich to see the tall ships on a bank holiday. You would think that on such an occasion the management would have guessed that it might be a bit busy around lunchtime, but no. Pub was packed with people waiting for a drink and some lunch but there was just one man behind the bar serving drinks and taking food orders, one cook in the kitchen (so I was told when I finally did get served) and one guy serving food to tables. I asked what the waiting time was for food and was told 15 - 20 minutes. Not bad I thought, for a busy pub, so we ordered. An hour later we're still waiting and had obviously been forgotten. We spent that hour watching the lone server wandering around with plates of food asking everyone "did you order this?" and then taking most of it back to the kitchen. When our meals finally did arrive it was on cold plates, was barely more than lukewarm and only half cooked. We had to ask for cutlery and condiments. The queue at the bar was by now so long it wasn't even worth going back for a refund. Result of this marathon? Half the afternoon of our one day out in London wasted. Note to management - sort out your staffing levels, sort out your cook (note, I didn't call him a chef) and put some decent systems in place to match food orders with the right customers. We'll never find out if you do though because we won't be going back. One plus point - a good pint of Doombar! Oh, by the way, the toilets were absolutely disgusting.

Popped in for a couple of drinks on a Saturday evening. Whilst the drink was great the noise drove me out after my first pint.

Personally found it a bit grubby. Menu was extremely limited and when I placed my food order over half the menu was unavailable due to problems in the kitchen. Wine choice was poor with just two whites on offer. Not too sure what all the fuss is about.

Locale ottimo. Abbiamo mangiato i migliori hamburger provati a Londra. Ad un prezzo onesto. Pomeriggio molto british con maxi schermo che proiettava la partita di Rugby del Leicester. Alle pareti foto di cantanti e gruppi rock. Bagni imperdibili. Ho lavato le mani mentre Buddy Holly mi fissava. Da provare.

Questo pub nel centro di Greenwich è il tipico connubio all'inglese fra buona birra e piatti abbondanti. Un ottimo fish 'n chips e buonissimo il panino con formaggio di capra e peperoni. Atmosfera amichevole e informale, buona musica alla radio.

My first ever review on here and it's only because of the amazing service we received today! Staff couldn't have done more to welcome us. Came in for a quick pint and ended up staying for Sunday roast. Staff managed to accommodate 10 of us to eat at 30 min notice on a busy Sunday. The Sunday roasts are great value for money, great portions and was like a home cooked meal. We were celebrating my birthday and my sister had brought a cheese cake as a birthday cake (all a bit last minute) but when It arrived at the table it was decorated with fresh fruit and candles, a small touch but one that was not expected and really made a difference! Just another example of going the extra mile. We will be back for sure

Ladies toilet not working, bar staff sent me seatching for another toilet in freezing cold, while 3 women were pointed to upstairs ladies toilet, even though I asked if there's another ladies on the premises. When confrotned the barmaid, she started shouting abuse at me. The conversation of the morning shift bar staff sitting around the bar shifted to how funny it is to lie to tourists about toilet facilities. Found lovely place few doors down "Gypsy moth", great food, lovely atmosphere, none of the xenophobic bar staff attitude.

I had to thank the chef for the plate he served me, the fish was very good. the music is easy going.

Ci siamo fermati in questo pub caratteristico, con i muri colorati e scritte ovunque di nomi di band. Volevamo dei sandwiches ed un'insalata. Ci è arrivato tutto dopo una lunga attesa, condito abbondantemente da salse. Può andar bene a chi ama questo genere di cucina, io avrei preferito qualcosa di più semplice e genuino, ma non l'ho trovato sul menu.

Went for Sunday lunch.. approached the bar to order a roast dinner and a pint bar lady had an atrocious attitude!! Asked what meats in which was being served I received a snappy "beef, nothing else" sat down lunch arrived swiftly food average although piping hot. However very little (and I'm not massive on portions). I then kindly asked the waitress for some extra potatoes, was then told mid meal that's £1 please... I do not mind paying for what I had asked for but hovering over me whilst mid meal for an extra £1 when I had only received 2 potatoes in the first place a little in professional. Stay away!!

Fine if you like loads of students drinking their grants away. Ok if you just want to watch sport . Could be better .

Pub per appassionati di musica rock, davvero bello! Hamburger buonissimo, fish&chips gigante e per di più ottimi prezzi rispetto ad altri pub più classici. Davvero carino, una buona scoperta!

Had a great time at The Admiral Hardy. They serve great food and show all the sport! The service was great with lots of good banter. I recommend checking this place out when visiting Greenwich

Abbiamo pranzato qui durante la gita a Greenwich (4 adulti e 3 bimbi piccoli) e come in tutti i pub, ti siedi, scegli e poi vai ad ordinare al bar... noi abbiamo scelto la pie del giorno (ottima!!), fish&chips (niente male..), ceasar's salad (abbondante e buona) e dei sandwich per i bimbi (al mio molto gentilmente hanno fatto solo una fettina di pollo ai ferri, come voleva lui). La scelta della birra è fantastica, te le fanno assaggiare tutte e in pratica quando ti siedi sei mezzo ubriaco hahaha! Il prezzo è nella media, ma il locale è davvero molto caratteristico (i soffitti fatti con tavole da skateboard e cantanti famosi appesi alle pareti)

Great for a pint either before or after eating in one of the many local restaurants. Only thing negative is the music that is a bit loud.

Nice pub looking on to Greenwich market, they do student discounts if you show them your student card, though not being a student anymore I cannot remember what they are! The bar staff are friendly, and the room behind the bar is always where I would choose to sit as it has a more cosy feel to it. My only complaint would be that the toilets do smell, and you often get a whiff of them whilst standing at the bar.

Cool place to go for a few bevvies. Prices are fairly standard and they do student discount. Toilet urinals are in the shape of lips, ala Rolling Stones, which is COOL.

I always love going to the Admiral Hardy on a regular basis as its a really cool atmosphere and décor. My favourite night is a Saturday as they usually have a dj and they stay open later than the usual pubs. Staff are always really friendly and look happy to be there.

Another great night for my friends and I. Only thing to report is we were enjoying our night until a guy near us seemed to be a little too drunk and started getting abusive . Thankfully the door staff quickly escorted him out after he tried attacking people at the table next to him. But back to enjoying ourselves after he was gone yipee!!! Door staff handled it very well I would say. Otherwise a great NYE! Definitely be back xx

At first everything was fine paid to get in got our drinks etc...as things went on there was a little bit of a sillyness ppl drinking too much, a young guy was asked to leave which he did...5 mins later he was assaulted by a member of the door staff!! Absolutely shocking...the manager (i assume) just stood there and watched this happen. So unprofessional and will not be returning!!!! Def look elsewhere around greenwich!

Paramos a tomar cerveza y sidra tirada, buen ambiente, buena atención, hermosa decoración detrás de la barra, a un paso del mercado.

barzinho charmoso com uma bela decoração, o rapaz atende super bem e os petiscos são saborosos, porém achei as bebidas um pouco acima da média de preço da região, mas em geral é um bom lugar.

o senhor que nos atendeu era uma grande figura, o atendimento é bem rápido e a decoração interna é bem antiga tipicamente inglesa, bem bonita.

We popped in for a couple of drinks after walking around the market and as a bit of a time filler really. It is an authentic pub with no pretentions and serves good beer. Large screen tvs showing scrolling sports but no sound, not that the bar needed any more noise. Average decor and I suspect it could be cliquey but if it's your local, that's how it is. We were only there for the beer and 'twas good.

Love the decor,had lunch there on Saturday,food was great,really enjoyed the pumpkin squash burger and chips, coleslaw was nice but a little spicie,however my hubby really enjoyed it,staff were friendly,place was nice and clean,good atmosphere,although drinks are a little on the pricey side...

As it was a very hot day we stopped in here for drinks and snacks was very pleased with the place. It was fun to see all the things on the walls and the staff were great.

Durante la mia permanenza a Londra ho assaggiato il mio primo Fish & Chips in questo pub di Greenwich. Devo dire che non era niente male. Per essere costato 10,50£ il piatto era abbondante. Non ho invece gradito particolarmente avere speso 2,50£ per una bottiglietta d'acqua.Per il resto l'interno di questo locale è tipicamente inglese. È possibile vedere le partite di calcio e rugby.

The Admiral Hardy is a short walk from the boat pier and since we were really hungry and did not want to walk around we went there to eat. I found the pub about what I would have expected. The beer was nice and the bangers and mash what I wanted. I could have done with the music turned down (a lot) since I like to talk to the person I am with without shouting. If you have more time to do so, look around a little more for a place to eat.

The beer was expensive.It was also cloudy and didn't taste right although the landlord insisted it was ok. I imagine this is a young persons pub by the decor. We were here during the day. We won't be back.

Ispirato da questo pub tipico, ho mangiato un fish and chips abbastanza buono ma comunque nella media e non il più buono che ho mangiato. Molto particolare e bello il locale come arredato.

We won't be going back.We took some family from abroad out to Greenwich for the day6 of us had a drink and ate lunch. The little bit of food that came was nice. But 6 small meals would probably have fed 2. They were not small, they were microscopic!A real shame. We would not recommend anyone to go there to eat.

Have just eaten here and although the food was nice it was not the 'huge' portion advertised .... I have seen more food on a child's portion!! My friends and my burgers were both missing the ed onion marmalade and the pickle and the £1 extra paid for cheese was not worth it as it was barely there !!!! Staff were great and helpful and it was very pleasant.All in all, food was okay and filled a hole but not quite as advertised.

My wife and I have been visiting numerous pubs while in London. They have all been nice but the Admiral Hardy felt like a real pub. The food was good, it did seem to take a little while to come out but it was piping hot so I it was delivered without delay. Waitress was wonderful.

We stopped in for a bit of lunch. My sons ordered hamburgers - they seemed fine. I ordered a meat pie with mashed potatoes. What came out was so strange - the pie appeared to have been heated to a warmish stage, but not baked, as the dough was still white! I told our waitress this was inedible, and ordered a hamburger. What came out was a white bread sandwich filled with - I'm not sure what, but it wasn't meat, nor was it a hamburger. A harried chef came out, apologized, and offered to bring me a real burger this time, but we'd already wasted 45 minutes. He was really quite nice, but to mess up the order twice seemed a bit much. I think there must be a staff problem.

Nous sommes arrivés en précisant que nous étions pressés, à priori aucun problème, et c'est là que justement les problèmes ont commencés. Personne en cuisine donc les boissons arrivent mais vrai "foutage de gueule" des personnels. Mais après une looonguuue attente, les plats étaient très corrects. Donc si vous avez le midi beaucoup de temps,ok, sinon passez votre chemin. Juste à côté, le marché de Greenwich avec toutes les cuisines du monde. C'est vraiment dommage qu'ils se foutent du touriste de passage, il y a internet maintenant pour vous notez !...

Popped in for a quick pint and a bite to eat. The beer was reasonably priced and the food was tasty and good value. Was very pleased and would definately recommend.
