The food was fantastic and staff couldn't do enough for you. We had the sharing ×4 plate menu, and each platter was fantastic Cocktails are nice, and the restaurant has a fantastic vibe. I will definitely return again

I had an incredible dining experience at A.B.O.E with friends in mid-March. Rennie and Head Chef Sebastian provided exceptional service, and the food was simply divine, catering to everyone's preferences. As a table of six, with four non-meat eaters, we were thrilled with the delicious vegetarian and fish options available. A big thank you to the team—we'll definitely be returning!

Interesting and fun menu to explore. Everything we tried was delicious. The prices are a little high for a regular go to restaurant vibe and the service charge also a tad high however it was tasty and left us feeling satiated but not uncomfortable in terms of fullness.

We took our son out for Sunday lunch whilst visiting Bristol, or he took us out and we paid! Atmosphere was cosy and friendly. Staff were very attentive. Food was at the expensive end of the scale, but probably one of the best Sunday Roasts I’ve ever enjoyed. Meat was delicious and accompanying veg was plentiful. Three hungry horses just about managed to clear our plates…if we needed more and requested it, I don’t think it would have been a problem. Desserts were again pricey, but heavenly. Sebastian, the owner and head chef, done good. Would highly recommend

Service was poor and slow. Food was mediocre. Very expensive. We were shocked to be charged 12.5% service having been ignored for much of the evening to the extent that they didn’t even ask how our meal was or bring our coffee and dessert so we had to ask to cancel this as it had been so long.

My 19 year old daughter booked a table for herself and boyfriend for a belated Valentine's meal and he was unfortunately unwell. She was charged £100 cancellation fee (this is in the terms and conditions) but lets face it who reads them, you don't plan to be ill. I can understand charging for no shows, but they did call. They expected to be charged but not £100!! Would not recommend or eat here myself. Shame!

We came for valentines and booked a table for 8:15. We arrived on time but had to wait at the bar for a while until a table became free. No one offered us a drink when we were sat at the bar. When we sat down the table was dingy and I had to get a candle from the bar to create some ambiance. A lot of the food on the menu was battered. So Katsu, kievs, croquetta. Could do with a little more veg !! What we had was nice but it came so late we’d been waiting so long that we were ravenous by then !!! Came a way feeling like we weren’t treated that well, the staff were not very attentive and felt disappointed with our experience given how much we spent.

Fantastic tasting plates, pure flavour. Great location on Whiteladies Road and the smell in the air alone could get in the Michelin guide.

Fabulous meal with excellent service and good drink offerings. We opted to visit early to take advantage of the offer, and whilst there weren’t many other guests the atmosphere was still nice with the staff and music choice. Our serving staff were very attentive, allowing us to samples wines before deciding. The food was outstanding, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and we even ordered some food to take home to give to other family members.

Simply, one of the best meals we've had out in years. Everything was interesting, original and delicious. I've been to many places with higher expectations but nowhere anywhere near this good, or unpretentious. It's fun, superb food and delightful service. Absolutely recommend this place to anyone who wants a good night out.

Recommend the French Dip, agnolotti and the Rolo dessert. So decadent! We can for an early dinner so it was fairly quiet but the service was great. Loved it so much that I’m heading back this evening 😃

We had a top night out here. The food is exquisite and is plated up in sharing quantities so you end up with what is effectively a tasting menu. And what taste! Highlights were the divine croquettes, the French dip and the Putain de Poutine! Decent wine list too and creative cocktails. The staff were friendly but not over-attentive. Chef came and said hello. We spent £65 per head but that included half a bottle of wine and cocktails. Worth every penny. And the wallpaper in the bogs is amazing!

Had one of the worst experiences eating out at Aboe. We visited not long after it had opened and could have excused the slow service (short of staff) but the food was below the high standard Aboe claims it to be. During service we had mentioned to the waitress that some of the food was over cooked - the fish was dry, and a couple of other dishes were very average for the high price point. Another table also complained about the fish. At the end we were presented with a very large bill, we explained we weren’t happy to pay it all as we felt it was unjustified. The waitress went to the kitchen to speak to the chef, who a few minutes later came out, dragged a chair from across the dining room, sat down in front of us with his arms crossed and demanded to know what was wrong with his food. His behaviour was rude and intimidating, clearly taking criticism is something he doesn’t take kindly to. If he had come out and spoken to us considerately, as we were not rude when explaining why the food fell short of our expectations, we may have come back again, but with his attitude, we won’t be back again.

A friend and I visited for a Sunday roast, and the food was sensational but we were a little disappointed with the service. We arrived and within 15 minutes the waiter came over to let us know we only had the table for 1 hour 15 minutes despite booking ages ago. We had time for one course and that was it. We enquired about coffees at the end but we’re told their coffee machine wasn’t working which felt like a lie and that they were just trying to rush us out. Probably wouldn’t go back.

Absolutely delicious food with combinations and ingredients we'd not tried before. The croquettes, chicken, beef and duck egg were highlights. The portion sizes are really good, so you probably don't need the recommended amount. We'll be back. A new gem of the food landscape. Great service and decor.

A recent opening on the site of the former Flipside Cocktail Bar, the focus now seems to be much more on the food than was the case previously. The décor is pleasant and contemporary, the staff friendly and the menu appealing. So, all looking very good on first impressions. Rather than the more usual “small plates”, the dishes here are “sharing plates” and the waitress suggested two per person should be sufficient, or between one and two if we also had a starter. Several of the options looked appealing, although I was a bit surprised to see one dish called “F*** the Coronation” Fried Chicken (the menu didn't have the *'s, but Trip Advisor won't let me submit a review with the actual word in). Presumably the chef is not a royalist, but I found this rather distasteful to be honest, and the same swear word was used on a sign by the loos asking you to wash your hands which seemed very unnecessary. I get that tapas dishes come out as and when they’re ready, which is fine, but I had thought perhaps that something ordered from the “snacks” section would have come out before anything else, but this was not the case. Between us we went for the Kimchi Sushi Rice Fries, the **** Coronation Fried Chicken, Gouda & Leek Croquettes, Aslan’s Mane & Asparagus and the Sushi Me Rollin’. On the whole it was all very, very good and it’s difficult to pick out any highlights. The sushi was lovely and fresh, and it was all very tasty. We finished off with the Rolo Finesse and the Gingoffee Pie, and both of these were really very good too, decadently sweet and rich. My only criticism would be that I could have done with a bit more. Despite having two plates each as well as a starter, I was still a little peckish. That said, we had spent enough as it was – with just a single drink each, the bill still came to over £100, so perhaps they need to work on their portion size and/or pricing strategy a bit. That, and dropping the swear words, would definitely make it worthy of five starts.
