Do not order online! They will take your money and never deliver. Ordered online at 6:35, tracker said 35-45 minutes. An hour and 15 came and went, so sign. Phoned the number, it's a fake number. Sent an email, it's a fake email that isn't registered. Went in person and collected it. They hadn't made it and the ticket with the order+ address was hand written and stuck to the counter top. Extremely unimpressed. I live less than 2 miles away. To quote "they disconnected the phone line by accident and you need to email" "your email doesn't work either" "oh, well *shrug*"

The food was cold, the CHICKEN nuggets were cooked in the same oil as fish which is cross contamination and caused an allergic reaction! Tried calling the restaurant several times, no answer. Barely any chips for a medium portion just covered in cheese so not noticeable to an extent. Delivery guy was just stood outside not once ringed the doorbell.

Popular among local students, serving sizes are generous, and prices relatively low. However, you should probably order in person.

Recently moved to Abingdon and thought we would try this place. No idea where the 5 star reviews come from. Bought two sausages and chips for my partner and I and the sausage was absolutely disgusting. Rock hard batter you would need a chisel to get through, and cold too. They ought to be ashamed to serve such rubbish. Clearly reheats and unfit for human consumption. Straight in the bin.We will leave this place to the pub goers on a Fri/Sat night. Avoid.

Ordered online and when our order didn’t turn up, we rang up to find out why. Apparently the manager cancelled the order as didn’t want to deliver to us in Shippon. Nobody bothered to even contact us to let us know so left waiting for nothing. We would have collected but they offered free delivery. Awful customer service.

Nice location in the city centre. Reasonable rates. Huge portions. We ordered a cod and a medium chips. It was enough for two people. Food is all right. Very little seasoning. We asked for salt and vinegar on the food, but it was still quite bland. Service is super quick. We barely had to wait a minute.

After placing an online order and providing my postcode for delivery, I was initially told to expect my meal in about 45 minutes. However, as the wait extended beyond the promised time, reaching an hour and 15 minutes, I felt compelled to call and inquire about the status of my order. To my dismay, the response was both surprising and frustrating. I was informed that my location was considered "too far" for delivery—a detail that was neither communicated at the time of ordering nor during the extended waiting period. While they offered a refund, the lack of proactive communication regarding the order or the delivery issue left a bitter taste. Not only did this experience disrupt our meal plans, but it also highlighted a significant gap in customer service and communication. It's disappointing to see such a lapse from a local establishment, and I hope they take this feedback to heart to improve their services in the future. Sadly, based on this experience, I'm unable to recommend Abingdon Fish and Chips... Totally avoidable situation.

My family and I ordered some food, we ordered 2 cod and chips, a battered sausage, fish cake, and a lamb doner kebab and another chips, we'll the cod wasn't good, the batter on the sausage was rock hard, the fishcake tasted dry, chips were really hard and we didn't get the lamb kebab, so we weren't happy with our food.

Best fish & chip shop in Abingdon, fantastic value! Huge thick fish with crispy batter, the chips may look a bit anaemic but taste great and are seasoned with just the right amount of salt and vinegar. Portion sizes are massive!

Large cod and chips ok chips were average

Just had two cod and chips from here 24/6 and they were superb. Been here a few times while visiting Abingdon and never had a bad meal. Great service and staff, excellent value.

Have been to this shop a couple of times. Their fish is quite good, big portion! but chips are very average. The staff working there look very serious. A friendly smile would make customers feel more welcoming

Never going back to this store again! Had a few issues in the past with being served old stale re heated food, went in and asked for 5 large cod to be cooked fresh as they were cooking some for an order and the ones on display looked old, they refused so I took my businesses elsewhere. Poor food and even worse service! So many fish and chip shops in Abingdon... AVOID THIS SHOP!

Just happened to be standing outside when it opened and so thought “why not”. First time in and it was superb. Huge piece of lovely cod, freshly cooked, and a large portion of tasty chips. Will definitely go back.

Called in for a piece of fish to share for a quick snack. It was piping hot, beautiful flakes of fish and delicious crispy batter. Servers were helpful and polite. Would thoroughly recommend this takeaway.

Fresh (large!) cod and tasty chips

Ordered our food with no problems at all and it came to us in perfect time the fish that my dad chose was excellent it was the best he ever had and the other food was delicious too I would highly recommend to anyone who asks.

Friendly and speedy service. They had paper to wrap up our chips and wooden forks so didn't have to use single-use plastics (polystyrene box). Very happy! Thanks.

Typical chippy. Have eaten from here several times. Food is average, perhaps a bit soggy as the batter lacks any crispness. In person I found staff to be impersonable. Past orders via Just Eat have had problems from incorrect items to not even turning up. When calling them regarding the issues the staff don't even care, totally unapologetic and tell you to contact Just Eat to complain. Would order from here again though as there aren't many choices for fish and chips in the area unfortunately.

They finally understand that people will be wanting fish and chips and actually have it ready. Fish is nice and firm, chips aren't soggy.

We enjoyed delicious fish and chips from here. The quality of the food, portions sizes and the friendly efficient service was excellent! Enjoy!

Bloody brilliant, me and my mates go there on a Thursday after school for some cheeky chips, great lads who work there always dap me up and serve great chips, all round great place. Lovely blokes !!!!!!!

Good quality fish and chips and friendly helpful people, fish is nice and thick with crispy batter that tastes delicious and chips are cooked perfectly with plenty of the nice crispy bits chips in the bottom and a scrap or two if your lucky. They also go out above and beyond to maintain this and it's excellent service every time we get them delivered. 5 Stars. Btw, thank you for the bottle of vinegar 👍

Best chips I've had in 20 years!! You can't find chips like they used to do 20+ years ago, until I found this place!! The chips here are perfect 90's chips!! Delicious! Previously we got chips once a year... we might get them every week now! Please don't change how you do your chips!! Many thanks!! 😊 🙏

We have always had lovely f&c with quick delivery however, this evening was very disappointing. The chips were not hot and the fish batter was rather soggy. The chips previously have been wrapped separately to the fish but this time they were squashed in the carton which may have been the cause.

Great fish and chips, freshly done. Portion just right for me. Only concern the use of containers, where the hot fish had been touching it, by the time we got home it had melted the box.

2hrs waiting....no delivery....rude phone mannerism from the staff. What a piss take.never again.

The food, as we expected, was good - but the delivery service abysmal. We ordered online (our first time trying this) at 5.55, with website saying 45 minutes. As soon as we checked the order tracker it was up to an hour, and an hour and a half AFTER the counter reached zero I gave up and drove to the shop! So that’s two and a half hours after placing the order! It was still on the counter waiting to be done, with the excuse that they had had long queues - but there were only two ahead when I got there, and in any case it’s no real excuse, if you accept online orders you should have a system to schedule them properly so as to keep what you promise. So if you can go there you’ll get decent food, but don’t touch the online ordering!

I really liked this place! I had the Chicken Strips and shared a large portion of chips with my other half from here. ==NOTE== a large portion of chips is LARGE!! Definitely not one to tackle on your own, unless you have a big appetite for chips ;) Overall I really enjoyed the food from here - the strips weren't as crispy as I'd have liked, but otherwise no complaints at all! We will be back!

We ordered a meal this evening through justeat and the customer service is non-existent, we were told our order would arrive at 7.45 (and hour and a half after ordering) despite when placing the order the time for delivery was estimated between 30 - 50 minutes. At 8pm the food had not arrived so I called to ask where the food was, no answer on the phones, and again at 8.15 no answer. The food finally arrived at 8.30 (well over 2 hours from ordering) and there was no apology and items were missing from the meal - again no answer when I tried to call. The food itself was okay, but pretty cold and considering we paid for items that aren't there is pretty expensive too!

The food was served at a big portion size (you wont find this big anywhere in the UK). The chips were good but the fried chicken was not great. I didnt taste the battered fish yet. You can go here if you are very hungry and don't have too many options on that day!

Bought some chips today to try them out and I'm very pleased to say that they were delicious... Sat on the bench outside and shared them with my mother... and was joined by the owner who made very pleasant conversation with us... lovely man.

Absolutely recommend this fish bar, we were visiting Abingdon and due to bad weather decided on having a takeaway. We were delighted at the varied and vast menu, offering more than just fish & chips. When i phoned to place the order the gentleman was thorough taking the order and read this back to me (the order was for 10) to make sure everything had been captured. We paid by card and had the food delivered. Everything arrived freshly cooked, still hot and tasted delicious. We will definitely use again when we return to the area.

Reasonable tasting chips, but was disappointed to be served them in a polystyrene box before being wrapped in paper. Drop the wasteful packaging and just wrap in paper and this would be a reasonable chippie.

Tried a few different fish and chip places around Abingdon and this one is our favourite. Good portions and the fish is very tasty :)

Not good.. Exceptionally greasy, so much so it kept destroying the wrapping paper till he'd put about 5 or 6 layers on. Barely cooked and bland tasting. Couldn't finish the portion as it made me feel sick. I won't be back.
