Love this place. Authentic little chip shop. Lommy and the girls are always friendly and provide service with a smile. We get a white pudding supper and battered fish. Portions are generous and fish always fresh and crisp. I tried a battered Mars bar this time and although it wasn't on the menu, Lommy was happy to make one for me and wowsers it was good. Not sickly as I thought it may be. Perfect gooey goodness w a light crisp batter. I went in for a second the next day!!

Had one of the best chicken Maryland's from here ! Everything piping hot and cooked to order. Staff pleasant and takeaway scrupulously clean. Can thoroughly recommend . Thank you.

Drive past this place all the time going between Badenoch and Aberdeen. Never needed to stop for a chippy but a visit to Macduff aquarium strangely put us all in the mood for a fish supper. Despite a bit of a wait as it was busy, we got three excellent haddock suppers. The chips were really well cooked. Fish batter was firm and the fish itself was cooked perfectly. Would recommend and will be back.

Lommie was very helpful and opened early to accommodate our large group passing through. Tasty fish and chips, generous portions.

We arrived in town to our AirBNB and were hungry. This place was open so we gave it a try. I appreciated having a breaded haddock option instead of the usual batter dipped. It was quite good. I also tried the spicy haggis and it was very good. The flavor of the steak pie was marvelous. I highly recommend this place.

Had an amazing supper last night @ The Aberlour Takeaway can’t recommend it enough, great service from local staff very friendly and the food was delicious. Definitely worth a visit. Not expensive also by comparison.

Ordered 2 steak pie suppers, 2 fish suppers and a jumbo supper. Batter was light and crispy. Good was hot and tasted lovely. Shop was busy but was still a speedy service. Staff were friendly and polite. Highly recommend. Will definitely be back.

I popped in on my way home to Keith, great service! Lovely clean shop. The fish was beautiful, the batter was crisp and the chips were fresh and cooked to perfection. I will definitely return, well worth the journey.

Stopped while traveling past for a quick bite to eat. When ordering opted for a smoked sausage supper which was sitting in display cabinet thinking it would be quick - it wasn’t but that’s not my gripe. The smoked sausage was inedible- it was in hot/display cabinet above the fryers when I ordered then it went into the fryer for a few minutes and then the microwave then back into the fryer!!!!!! I wish I took a picture of the sausage to share it was awful. Food hygiene issue also as lack of tongs getting used - I viewed another order getting put together with fingers.

Visited for fish suppers whilst on holiday in area. Ridiculously slow service (40min waiting in shop whilst those who rang and ordered served immediately upon arrival), particularly bad when a bus load of kids turned up just after me and were served quite quickly (to move them along?) Food stuffs being handled without tongs (chips)... No, I won't come again.

After a long day touring the lovely Moray coast, good fish suppers bit the spot. They have a good range of food available so we will be back.

Delicious, crispy haddock, made fresh. We inadvertently arrived at closing time but they were friendly and accommodating. Great choice in Aberlour!

I was distressed to see my haggis and chicken fillets come out the freezer already battered! Fillets were so dry and inedible likewise with the haggis. Portion size was small but that was ok because it meant the eating experience was over quicker! Won’t rush back.

Young rude girl with black hair told me to get out when I was waiting for my slushy, I done nothing wrong, this is bang out of order!! Action needs to be taken, I’m not happy in the slightest, young people these days, some of them are too rude to even be working!

I ordered food by phone for 11 whisky tourists as we left our last distillery and 20 minutes later when we arrived they were just packaging it all up. The spicy haggis in particular was amazing, as was the delicious curry sauce. The chatty jovial boss was very generous, giving us some free sauces and condiments as we were staying in a holiday cottage. The young ladies serving were very efficient and labelled up the 30 items we ordered, which was really helpful. The food was very tasty and was rapidly demolished. I strongly recommend you visit and try the excellent food. Phoning ahead if you're short of time is also a good idea. Thank you, all at Aberlour Takeaway!

Stopped for a quick bite to eat, while travelling. Noticed it was busy and expected a bit of a wait, could have done a families weekly asda shop by time I ordered to receiving a portion of chips and cheese. Could do with a not of organization, I counted 4 meal orders which could have been made up by the young girls and let on there way, while the other member waited for the longer items to be ready. Staff looked miserable, all 3 of them, no Hi, no smile, not even a wee grin. Poor customer service and lacked management

Recently moved to the area, our first time visiting. Couldn't fault the chippy. The fish was fresh, crispy batter, the fish wasn't overcooked. Lovely chips. The kids 1/2 fish portions are great. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and we'll definitely be back.

As frequent visitors to Aberlour, we are delighted to feel welcome and comfortable in the area. We decided to have takeaway tonight at around 19.45. On opening the door, my husband was told “ we’re closed” “ it says on the door”. The sign said closed 9pm.. he opened the door to ask where it says 8, and was screamed at again “ I’ve told you, we’re shut!” Dreadful way to run a business and talk to customers, I predict an empty shop soon. Your loss, Chinese takeaways gain....

Disgusting!! Served a raw red pudding that was like mush. And burnt my king rub so bad it was like chard wood.

Ordered two fish suppers, steak pie supper and a kids fish and chips one night during our holiday. She was very efficient on the phone taking the order down. We drive the 5 minutes down the road to collect it and 5 minutes back up the road, by the time we got home it was already cold. The portion sizes were the same for the adults meals as the kids. The kids meal comes with a drink so I asked for one with no added sugar and they looked at me like I was speaking Swahili. It’s the only chip shop for miles so will do in a pinch but I wouldn’t bother if you’re up on holiday.

The fish and chips were good. But the meat pie and spicy haggis we're really really good. Just a local place there's a park two blocks away if the weather's nice you can take away their and sit along the water.

Bought takeaway for a family of 4, quite busy - but didn’t have to wait too long for the food. Service was friendly and food was yummy!! Will come again when next in the area.

We bought 3 fish suppers and a sausage supper to take away on a beautiful evening during the Aberlour Games weekend, and were very happy with the hot, freshly cooked good quality food. The batter on the large fish was light and the chips not at all greasy. The following day my son and girlfriend bought fish suppers and they were the same great quality. We would definitely return here.

Heading home after a day in the local forests, as home was a few hours away. Needed some tea, passing through here saw this Takeaway and stopped. Did not realise another of our friends had same idea. That gave a positive thought that this was going to be good, and the fish and chips did not disappoint. Didn’t have long to wait as the fish was made to order not sitting on the hot plate, the baked potato was also good. Bit sparing on the salt and vinegar, not enough to spoil anything so when in the area again will visit.

We love to have our tea here at least once a month. It’s always great quality fish and the chips are absolutely magic. For a quick easy evening meal when you can’t be bothered cooking it’s the business.

A must if you are looking for a Takeaway in Aberlour, great menu to choose from and they cater for all. The Aberlour Combo was fantastic and my wife really enjoyed her breaded fish. Staff are always friendly, happy to help and the place is clean and bright.

Huge menu to choose from and a great selection for kids meals, had a baked tattie the other night for the first time and it was really tasty, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, plenty of fillings to choose from also a bit of salad on the side, it was yummy.

Really friendly staff and great food, totally recommend the Fish Supper and Chicken Maryland and there is a huge menu something for everyone. Highly recommend to all. Shop is always spotless too. Well done.

On a recent visit to aberlour we decided on a fish super from here, What a let down, the fish had been over cooked and had to go I'm in the bin how can you get this wrong. Will not be going back.

If your looking for a right good chippy then this is definitely the place to go. Huge menu, something for everyone, kids meals, all of our food was really tasty and spotlessly clean shop with really good staff

My husband and I stop off and ordered jumbo sausage and fish cake supper. It was fantastic. Chips cooked with love and lovely and crispy batter on the sausage. Brilliant portion size just right for us anyway. I have read the comments on terrible I suggest you all pull your bottom lip over your head and swallow. Never read such nastiness.

Stopped in past the Aberlour Takeaway on Friday past on my way to Grantown on Spey and had fish and chips. Fish was lightly battered and fresh and the chips were lovely. Will definitely be back. Great customer service too.

We popped in again after visiting Aberlour Games on Saturday with family and I must say this is a great takeaway with plenty to choose from and everything we had was really tasty again

I would class myself as a regular at Aberlour Takeaway and we popped in last night and once again keep doing what your doing, the food was great, staff were great and although the place was really busy the place is always spotless. Keep up the great work folks.

The food was so bad it actually made us laugh. OK, I understand, it is a takeaway with cheap prices but still. Everything comes out of the deep freeze and seemed to go straight to microwave. We had different portions of different plates but they all tasted the same,bad. And I haven´t heard of ribs that contain grinded meat... well, that´s what one of us got. And the microwave heated it so hot that the plastic fork actually melted. I guess we learned a valuable lesson and did not visit it anymore, or shall visit again.

A really good takeaway and the food is always fresh. The staff are really nice and shop is spotless. Really enjoyed the chicken curry and the fish was delicious.

We were a group of 8 and called them a few minutes before their closing time to request them to stay open for us while we get there. They obliged and served us all with excellent very fresh fish and chips . Fish was really fresh in a nice flavorful batter. We tried the fish and chips at two other places in our trip to UK - but never found the same quality again .

Popped in by last Saturday night to pick up supper for the family and tried the Combo: chicken fillets, scampi, mozzarella sticks, onion rings and salad, this was really tasty and there was a few different things in it made it something different. Kids and husband really enjoyed there’s too.

Stopped here on route to Grantown in our Camper Van. What a great decision it turned out to be. We thoroughly enjoyed our supper. I can recommend the Jumbo Sausage, it was lovely. Staff were friendly and if we are passing this way again and are hungry, we will be stopping

Just the basic fish and chips and mushy peas but they were cooked to order, delicious, polite staff, sparkling clean and tidy take-away, just what I needed.

Regular visitors to Aberlour Takeaway and it never disappoints food always fresh, staff really nice and lovely and clean. As far as chippy's go this is the best for miles.

I have used this takeaway on several occasions over the last few months and have not been disappointed - until last night: Wednesday, 16/08/17. I asked for a fish supper and, when I opened it at home, was horrified to see the usual decent-sized whole haddock fillet had been replaced by HALF a fillet! It wasn't even a large fillet. It looked just like the pensioners'-sized fish I have bought from other chip shops - at a reduced price, of course.

Muy buena comida, nunca he tenido una mala experiencia con un montón para elegir para todos. Gran variedad de menús para niños y siempre recién hecha. Recomiendo el pescado que siempre es muy sabroso.

Estaba lleno de aceite de pescado, patatas fritas no estaban frescos, pero el personal era muy amable! No lo recomiendo a menos que no tienen otra opción.

Visité este "fish and chips" dos veces durante el fin de semana y fue genial. Hay mucho para elegir, el personal estaba dispuesto a ayudar, y tengo que decir muy limpio. Muy bueno para ver el lugar tan lleno.

Passing through on business so decided to stop and give the chippy another go . Colleague and I ordered King Rib supper and a Chip Steak supper. Oh dear as soon we opened our wrapping we were perplexed at the pale batter but thought we'd tuck in anyway . Huge mistake , the batter wasn't cooked and was gooey. We picked it off best we could - getting sticky fingers as we did so and continued to eat the meat . The chips were pale and tasteless , this was with salt and vinegar - vinegar still being applied in the awful plant sprayer bottles . What a waste of money . Aberlour Chip Shop you have a great location , efficient staff and clean premises . I will offer some advise , you can choose to act on it or ignore it . 1) You have everything going for you with your location- if you could just please cook the food for as long as it needs and don't settle on anything leaving the shop if it looks in the slightest bit pale and undercooked . 2). Discard the vinegar from the plant sprayer to a bottle of Sarsons so we can taste the vinegar . An area for customers to apply their own salt and vinegar would be welcomed gladly by your customers . We want to come again and enjoy the food & experience as a whole but not until there are changes made. We are trying to help you so please take the time to think over what has been stated here . We will be back in a few months time & will give you one more try. Kind Regards

We had the fish and chips with mushy peas! All freshly cooked with a thin batter on the fish. The portion of fish was very thin but fresh. The mushy peas were excellent and the chips were ok.Good opening hours and a handy place to grab a bite in the main street of Aberlour.

I love a good fish supper. Was delighted to find I was staying only a few doors away from the Aberlour Takeaway. Popped in tonight for a couple of fish suppers for myself and my teenage boy and were very impressed. Fish cooked fresh but didn't have to wait long and the chips were spot on. Freshly made and chunky. It's up there with the best and I've been to the award winning chip shop in Anstruther. Might have time for a wee visit again before we head home. Excellent. Thoroughly recommend.

We visited twice recently, the first time was on Thursday 9 March, we pre ordered and four excellent fish suppers were ready for us promptly. We returned the following Wednesday (15 March) and noticed there were different staff, a man cooking, not the woman from the previous week. We pre ordered again and when we went to pick up the chips there seemed to be some confusion over our order, the fryer didn't seem to have told the girl who was serving about our order. The batter on the fish was not cooked through and we ended up taking most of it off as it was inedible (cooked - just - on the outside but very soggy next to the fish). The fish itself and the chips were excellent but we were disappointed with the batter as it spoilt the meal, especially as we have always had excellent and well cooked batter on all our previous visits. Has there been a change of staff or should we avoid Wednesdays in future?

Have had fish and chips several times and each time have been disappointed. Chips were not freshly cooked. Staff were very friendly and attentive and kept the shop spotless.

Excellent chips! Really fresh & slightly crispy. Best chippy chips we'ev tasted for a long time. Nothing soggy about them.

We were in on Saturday nite 28th January and again it never fails great staff and the fish was excellent, curry sauce was spot on too.

I have the Combo and Hubby has Chicken Mayland Great And Value For Money so much So That Even Got Friends to go when they Come Fishing and the Staff are so Friendly

The pie was disgusting and overheated and the chips were not very tasty to me. The curry sauce was good though. I would rate my experience as one of the worst takeaway tastes!

Had to review the Aberlour takeaway, we had visitors up and decided on a takeaway and as usual went to Aberlour takeaway and it never fails. Happy staff, shop clean and bright and the food was brilliant never had a bad takeaway yet. We go there at least one night a week sometimes two.

I would have preferred to give 0 stars. We moved to Aberlour 9 months ago and have tried this chippy many times so tonight's vile food was not a one off. Service is always painfully slow. Chip portions tiny although given how poor the chips taste that is perhaps a blessing. They are very pale and manage to taste both barely cooked and rubbery. Tonight's macaroni pie was pretty cold, dry and tasteless. The pinnacle of the horrendous assault on my taste buds was the curry sauce. It is that truly vile sauce with sultanas in that very few chippies still serve these days. Tonight it was solid, I have seen runnier partially set ready mix concrete! Even adding a bit of boiling water to thin it out didn't help. It was gritty and just tasted salty and powdery. Sadly it is the only take away we have in Aberlour. I presume that the queues you get are not previously satisfied customers but rather just like me poor souls who couldn't face cooking that night and vainly hoped that one night they might get an edible dinner! After reading other reviews I am wondering if I have visited the same chippy! So I guess in future its a 9 mile drive to try Dufftown or 8 miles to Rothes. I don't expect a Michelin starred dinner from a chippy but seriously how can anyone get simple comfort/junk food so terribly wrong?

What can I say, I am a regular at Aberlour Takeaway and been in the last two nights and the food was really good and staff are really nice. Recommend the Aberlour Combo it has scampi, chicken fillets, spicy fillets, onion rings, cheese sticks and bit of salad very tasty and something different.

Visited aberlour takeaway on several occassions and cannot fault anything. The shop is clean, bright and staff are always friendly and helpful. I told them i was gluten free and i was offered different products, okay for me to eat. I ended up having a baked fish with side salad which was really lovely. The kids were really happy with their food and my husband was delighted with his chicken maryland. All in all a great place to go for a takeaway

I was visiting some friends and we decided on a good hearty chipper for tea, upon arriving wasn't very busy but took a while for someone to serve us, ordered out food and seemed to wait forever for it to be cooked. We got home to find the chips were like rubber and cooked overly to much , the fillet batter was solid and they were cremated. The white pudding was hard as if it had been left in the fryer longer than it should have. Their are areas within the shop that could be addressed cleanliness wise and the staff seemed to be not very happy to be working, I cant say I was highly impressed with this, I'm hoping it was just a bad day they were having and I hope that the next time I visit things will be better next time.

Oh mein Gott.... Wir haben viel mittelmäßiges Essen bekommen in Schottland, aber dies hier war der absolute Tiefpunkt. Da ist sogar McDonalds noch besser... Unsere Erwartungen waren nicht hoch, wir wollten was schnelles zum Mitnehmen. Das Takeaway scheint bei den Einheimischen auch sehr beliebt zu sein, es war rege besucht (es verfügt nicht über Tische, aber man kann anscheinend telefonisch bestellen und das Essen dann abholen kommen). Dass das Essen dann aber so schlecht ist, hätten wir nicht gedacht. Während wir warten mussten hatten wir ausführlich Zeit die Angestellten beim Zubereiten diverser Speisen zu beobachten. Alles scheint aus Konserven zu kommen, sieht aus als hätte es nicht gerade die höchste Qualität und wird dann auch noch frittiert. Auf der Karte findet sich soweit ich mich erinnern kann außer Pommes kein einziges vegetarisches Gericht. Halbwegs gesunde Gerichte sucht man auch vergebens. Dafür gibt's Burger und Fish&SChips. Wir haben letzen Endes die Pizza gewählt, die wurde zumindest nicht frittiert...Immerhin waren die Angestellten nett und alles schien auch sauber zu sein :-) Trotzdem: Beim nächsten Mal würde ich mir lieber im Supermarkt gegenüber was zu Essen kaufen. Oder etwas mehr Geld ausgeben und in ein "richtiges" Restaurant gehen.
