Hi there, we attended a Diamond Wedding Anniversary party and very much enjoyed the food, atmosphere, venue and the gardens. Thanks very much to all the staff who were very helpful, and to the catering staff.

Today was just a cake and coffee stop but even then everything was perfect. Lovely staff, good is normally gorgeous. We use this place reasonably regularly and the food and service are always good. Tge gardens are an added bonus for those with an interest. The florist in the gift shop does some fantastic arrangements.

Waited an hour for our food & drinks (drinks not served separately!) Welsh rarebit was a bit chewy. We asked the supervisor for the bill which didn't arrive, so had to pay on the way out. Service was very haphazard. The gardens are lovely, but that's all it has going for it.

The Abbeywood cafe is set in very attractive gardens (extra charge for visiting garden). The cafe itself is lovely. My friend suggested lunch there but I wouldn't choose to visit again. I had fish and chips which were good, my friend's ham, egg and chips also looked fine. The waitress asked if we would like a dessert and then announced there was no dessert menu, just cakes etc. on the counter. She did reel off a few extra dishes, i.e. panna cotta, so I had that. I can honestly say it was the worse panna cotta I have ever had! It was like jelly turned out of half a tennis ball! It was served with icing sugar coated pineapple which the waitress hadn't mentioned at all. Had I been made aware of the pineapple and the 'jelly' I would definitely not have had this dish. I had tap water with the meal and the bill came to £21. It was also odd that the waitress took my card and swiped it without informing me of the amount charged. I had to ask. All in all, not a good experience.

Our group has not been meeting on a monthly basis, as it had before Covid!!! Now we are getting together again for fellowship and also raising something for our local Hospice. We had an excellent Afternoon Tea at Abbeywood this week. For 25 of us there was a splendid spread and one of our group had taken Tea the week before in what one would have expected to have been a superb situation. She said that the Abbeywood provision was superior by far! Location, staff and catering were all excellent. We will be back - if they'll have us!

I visited the restaurant for the first time with 2 friends for coffee. The member of staff who met us was unfriendly, unhelpful and sharply spoken informing us that we should have booked a table. Another staff member who dealt with us was equally cold and unhelpful. We decided to sit outside and ordered tea and scones. The tea was brought out to us and we eventually had to go back inside and ask for our scones which they had forgotten to bring to us. A very disappointing visit.

Lovely place to visit for a bite to eat, a coffee and a walk around the gardens. The coffee and cake are really good here, I have had lunch here in the past and it been fresh and delicious. Today I had a flat white and carrot cake and I honestly don’t think I’ve ever had better. The gardens are splendid but there is a charge. Worth it, I think, if you like walking around lovely gardens with far reaching views over the Cheshire countryside. Having previously eaten here and been very pleased with both standard of cuisine and service, I was hugely disappointed when returning post-pandemic..On arrival one friend asked if she should scan her contact details and was told ‘yes’, but neither myself or other were asked to give any contact details. There appeared to be no windows open, which I thought was a requirement since re-opening.Service was terribly slow despite the fact that the restaurant was not by any means full. The most disappointing aspect of our trip was that I found my meal, the vegetable lasagne to be almost inedible. It was simply some squashy vegetables which had obviously been microwaved, as the edges of pasta were crisp and dry. No cheese in sight; flavourless and accompaniment of ‘garlic bread consisted of two triangles of white bread with a thin spreading of butter. A few salad leaves were added and the meal which was described as a main course at £12.50 was small. My friends were luckier, having chosen the Welsh Rarebit which looked tasty. Coffee arrived in mug with coffee slopped down the side and in the saucer. I am returning with other friends soon and am wondering about cancelling booking.

Had a very light lunch (Sandwiches/Tea/ Cappucino) on 14th Sept. No complaints regarding the food and the CV-19 precautions were well thought out. Unfortunately, the experience was tarnished by the Meeter and Greeter repeatedly saying "Yokay?" as customers arrived. Not so much as a "good Morning/Afternoon" or even a simple "Hello". Nothing's going to change, I know, but such informality is not universally appreciated, particularly within earshot!

Seven adults (plus one baby) were sat at two outdoor tables in the rose garden in order to enjoy tea/coffee/cake prior to lunch, and then a good range of lunches. Some finished off with a range of cakes. The meals were very good and the arrangements for social distancing likewise. Staff were friendly and helpful. After lunch we enjoyed a walk around the extensive gardens, a delightful mixture of pretty, naturalistic and practical. For families to meet up for a meal, a chat, a relaxing walk for a whole afternoon this really did the trick.

This is a lovely restaurant within the Abbeywood Gardens. There is a limited lunch menu but which does cater for vegetarian, gluten free diets too. There is a selection of hot sandwiches, cold sandwiches and plated dishes. They serve all sandwiches (not soup & sandwich) with cucumber pickle and vegetable crisps. The pickle is lovely, crisp and fresh. The vegetable crisps were a little greasy for my taste.Service was good. There is no music playing so it's a good atmosphere for talking. Very relaxing. We had a wonderful stay at Abbbeywood Estates on the occasion of our daughter's wedding. We travelled from Ireland and made several bookings from there by telephone for family members. Harry was fabulous, sorting rooms so we could all be together. He even allowed us to bring our very aincient and sickly dog, who I just couldn't leave behind! All members of staff were professional and polite - I must especially mention Nial, a young man who always seemed to be there when you needed him, even before you needed him sometimes, OMG that lad never seemed to stop trying to make sure everything ran smoothly. If I ran an hotel I would certainly head-hunt him! The day went so smoothly it was a dream. We arrived on the Friday and there was another wedding on, not wanting to interupt anything I dithered about wanting to sort our rooms out, a member of staff smoothly exited the other wedding and dealt with my query, politely, efficiently and quickly. Can't praise them all enough!

My neighbour and I went yesterday to celebrate her birthday. We're both pensioners but very active within our community and this turned out to be a fantastic way to de-stress. We were more than happy to pay to spend two hours in their beautiful gardens and didn't even manage to see everything. We'll go back another time for the woodland walks, arboretum, veg garden etc. Of course the glorious weather helped but the views, the house itself and the array of plants were all breath-taking. If you want a special bouquet then their florist has to be one of the most unusual in this area. We had afternoon tea and it was delicious and the young staff were all charming and couldn't do enough for us. We left with a back seat full of plants, well-fed, pampered and relaxed.

The setting is just beautiful, although the outdoor area was a bit all over the place, not neat and tidy like the rest of the place. We sat outdoors, it was beautiful and the food was good. However, no one greeted us as we came in and we were the only ones in at that point so it wasn't busy. The coffee was luke warm and took 10 minutes - even though it was quiet. Our food was served and we wanted another drink - a quick run to order at the counter before my food went cold - again no interaction, it was all too much trouble. The bacon sandwich was divine despite being on cheap sliced bread and the eggs benedict with smoked salmon looked incredible! The second coffee was piping hot as requested! I'm hoping it was just an off day as its so beautiful and the food is good it would be shame to not visit again!

This is very close to Delamere Forest, very close to the Abbey Arms pub. This is the nicest cafe in the area. The orangery is full of light in the middle of winter to have coffee in. There are fresh cakes and a nice lunch with pies and fish and chips done very nicely. The service is polite and welcoming.

Friends bought me a voucher for afternoon tea for two! I had not heard of Abbeywood. I took my mum with me and was highly impressed. Staff were lovely, couldn't do enough for us, lovely young gentleman looking after us at the table. Great afternoon, superb food, will definately come again.

We dropped in just prior to Christmas to try their Afternoon Tea, and we were very impressed. Lots of choice when you book, so no need to be faced with food you would rather not eat. We ate in their conservatory area, which even in December was very warm and homely. The quality of the food is excellent, and there is plenty of it too. Service was excellent, all for the £13.95 each, excellent value

Definitely cheered up a chilly, wet Sunday. Spacious but cosy, serving lots of yummy food. I have visited several times and today for coffee and cake. I sampled the Elderflower and Pomegranate cake and was not disappointed. With so much choice I will be visiting again soon to try another. Lovely friendly staff...and a wood burner too!

We led to our table which had been laid out very thoughtfully next to the radiator. We had tha afternoon tea which had been bought for us as a present. We had a huge pot of very hot tea between the two of us (4 cups each), a lovely choice of fresh sandwiches and home baked cakes and scones, all of it delicious. The very nice lady who served us could not have been more attentive, she checked that we were happy with the food and offered to change items if there was anything we didn't like. We have been to a lot of different places for Afternoon Tea, but this is definitely our favourite.

The food is great and it is a good place to go for brunch and lunch. Unsure about dinner. Maybe the service could be a bit quicker and the prices slightly lower, but I think it's a good place to go for a meal overall. And, of course, it has the lovely gardens!

My daughter got married here 3 weeks ago . A fantastic time was had by all. The food was brilliant , service excellent and ambiance magic. My daughter decorated the rooms herself but the rooms were a really lovely backdrop.

Delicious food in beautiful surroundings with perfect service. What a wonderful way to spend a few hours with friends on a November afternoon. We needed to take some cakes home with us and in my excitement I completely forgot to leave a tip. So I'll have to return. Thank you.

This restaurant is in a beautiful setting and the gardens are quite exceptional but sadly I found the lunch we had somewhat disappointing as it looked okay but was cold and tasteless. I also thought the charge for looking around the gardens was rather high.

Went with the family for lunch and a walk round the gardens. Beautiful day so we sat outside.Could not fault the gardens or venue, it was lovely. Very busy for a Monday afternoon too! Only negative point would be the price of entry for the gardens, especially after having lunch. I would return, but would have to be a special occasion to justify the price of lunch and entry to the gardens.

What a lovely place to visit and have morning coffee/lunch or afternoon tea. All the food is home cooked - staff are friendly and the gardens are superb. Look out for the new vegetable patch.

We had our wedding reception at Abbeywood and cannot thank everyone enough for making our day so very special. The venue is stunning with the most amazing views and gardens. The support with the wedding preparations made planning our day exciting with minimal stress and worry. Also the staff on the day went above and beyond to ensure that everything was just perfect. Abbeywood has also just opened 7 rooms which were reserved for our guests. Each room including the bridal suite is furnished to a beautiful standard with many rooms overlooking the gardens and rolling hills behind. The wedding breakfast itself was delicious with many of our guests commenting on the high standard of food. Also the bacon and sausage butties for our evening buffet went down very well!We ordered our wedding flowers and table centre pieces from Clare who is the florist based in the gift shop at Abbeywood. The flowers are grown in the grounds of Abbeywood itself and Clare makes the most beautiful bouquets exactly as you request them. I asked for wild flowers in a loose bouquet and this is what I got! All in all our wedding was just perfect. We are now looking forward to returning to the cafe in the near future.

We brought my parents here for their birthday lunch. It was a beautiful day so we were able to sit outside on the new furniture. Lots of choice for lunch and good service. Food was great too! Staff very friendly and at one point the owner came to chat to us too. We visited earlier in the year and found him very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning soon.

Afternoon tea with my 2 granddaughters to celebrate a birthday. The team were so very welcoming and attentive to the girls. Both girls loved exploring the gardens following the map to find the chickens, each of the themed gardens and the play area. Tea was delicious , beautifully presented , all in all just perfect

We got married at Abbeywood in May and have eaten there a LOT over the two years since we booked it. Every time it's absolutely top notch food. There's something for everyone and it can even please even fussy old people. The Sunday roast is an absolute treat and will cure any hangover ;) Our wedding here was also fabulous and cannot recommend Abbeywood enough as a cafe, hotel and wedding venue.

Our wedding in May was almost ruined due to the rude owner. Myself and my bridal party, in all 11 of us arrived on the Friday and stayed in the apartment, we had 4 small well behaved dogs with us that stayed in the kitchen/dining area. To start, the owner insulted us saying he could smell smoke in the apartment, I called to assure him we would never be so disrespectful as to smoke inside the building, bare in mind there was only 2 smokers out of the 11 people. On our wedding day, the owner walked around in shorts, casual shirt and a cap which I thought was very unprofessional. He walked around telling my mum off because of the dogs. Asking people not to smoke even though there were no signs allocating smoking areas, he approached my 85 year old aunty and made her feel extremely uncomfortable because she was smoking outside but apparently not in the correct area. He threatened an uncle to asking him to leave because he put a cigarette on the floor, there were absolutely no ashtrays for the smokers and we had to request some for the tables. If I was aware of the no smoking areas or Harry's dislike of cigarettes I would not of booked the venue. We paid over £500 for a evening buffet that consisted of 3 trays with egg sandwiches, pork pies and a few bread sticks, the buffet was brought out 2 hours too early and also was not announced, nobody knew it was there. The list goes on and on. I just want anyone reading this to know that I come from a hard working class, honest and good family and we were made to feel very inadequate by the owner. I will give credit where it is due and say the wedding breakfast was delicious and everyone enjoyed it but we did go over due to a miss-hap in the morning and slow service and our evening guests were left wondering what to do outside, no one directed or informed them. Most of the staff were very friendly, I did email two of them thanking them, I received one reply. I must mention that on the Sunday, the day after the wedding Harry the owner tried to argue with me stating that he told me two small dogs where allowed when in fact he said 4 dogs. The next day myself and my mother in law forward the email from Harry stating that we was indeed allowed 4 small well behaved dogs on this occasion. In the email I also stated my other complaints, neither of us received a reply. As of today, we are owed an invoice and they still have some of our decorations, I doubt I will receive a reply. It is such a shame because the place is so beautiful and a lovely backdrop for a wedding but I would definitely not recommend it, it was far too stressful.

The Woodland is close to Ellemere Port Hospital and serves for much of the day. Usual "Stonehouse" fayre. Very pleasant member of staff who checked for allergies and carried our drinks to our table as I am dodgy on my feet. We took advantage of the offer of two meals for £11.75 from a reduced menu. Pleasant food, but nothing special, except the price.

Found this little pub by chance, really good food and a home made rice pudding that I remember as kid, nice atmosphere, and the staff were really friendly, tried to back again but fully booked and no room at the inn, gutted.

Birthday treat for afternoon tea. Put us in a room on our own so I asked to be moved to sit with everyone else dining...which they did. Sandwiches brought out on saucer sized plate then another plate with cakes and scones. I asked why not served on 3 tier cake stand as she gave some poor excuse as to cakes might melt so they don't use them hower other diners had them! They forgot to bring the strawberries and cream and champagne we ordered. Waitress was moody and unhelpful and we had to go into bar for a cocktail as they were now shutting!! Huge amount of money for poor food and service. Never been back!
