A delightful little tea room with lovely friendly staff. Used it three times whilst staying in the area. Delicious scones, excellent bacon sandwiches ( with all fat removed !) and scrumptious cakes. Even bought some cheese scones to take away. Proprietor is a lovely Yorkshire man with a great sense of humour which adds to a very pleasant experience. Lovely shop attached. Would highly recommend.

Difficult to review as it is one of the best cafes in Rosedale. Extensive menu and a changing list of “specials” Food is of exceptional quality and quantity. One speciality we find is the cooked ham, either in sandwiches or with egg and chips. Deserts are scrumptious and as far as I can tell are all home-made. Seating is at a premium so it is always advisable to book ahead. If weather allows there is also a large outdoor seating area with a separate garden area overlooking the stream. There is always a smile and a greeting from the very helpful staff. The proprietor is a very jovial Yorkshire man with a typical Yorkshire sense of humour which some customers have difficulty in understanding, assisted by his wife who takes care of the café and attempts to keep her husband under control!

A lovely little tea room right in the heart of Rosedale. We arrived on a rainy Sunday afternoon. It was 3.30pm and they closed at 4pm but they let us in. We had tea and cake. The gingerbread cake was absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was cosy. We really enjoyed it.

I asked for two takeaway coffees, and tried to pay with a credit card. The total was less than £10, and the man serving us told us the minimum spend on card was £10, so we added a cake on to meet the £10 total. He then complained it's costing him 28p to him for me to use my credit card! The food and drink was excellent, however the service was outdated, we will not be returning.

We visited here on 2 occasions while staying at the campsite and found both the customer service and the friendliness of the staff great! They really took time out to chat with our children and ask them about their day. We had only popped in the store for an ice cream (which was delicious) 2nd visit was outdoors for tea and cakes and this was even better ! The cakes are home made and absolutely beautiful Great variety and considering it’s the only tea room open found the prices to be reasonable! We opted for a Victoria sponge an almond Bakewell slice and a scone with jam and clotted cream ! It was beautiful. Pot of tea did 3 decent sized cups as well ! We revisited the store this time for some freshly baked bread some cooked ham (which was the best fresh ham from the tea room such great quality and I believed sourced locally?) We hope to be back next spring/summer for more beautiful cake/ ice cream and local produce. Thank you !

Had late lunch here during long walk. It was excellent with everything home made. We had cheese, ham and chutney toastie with scones jam and cream, with a pot of Yorkshire tea.. I am “gluten free” and both scone and toastie the best I’ve ever eaten. I was told that even the GF bread is home made. Really good, friendly service and seating I’m a beautiful setting outdoors or spotlessly lean traditional indoor tearoom with large windows to see the view.

Entered the tearoom and chose a seat at the window. One of staff was finishing clearing and we tried to engage in polite conversation, but we may as well have been invisible. The woman who served us, presumably the owner, was stony faced and not welcoming at all. Another couple entered the tearoom and chose a table for four only to be told to move to a table for two in case four people came in. This is understandable on busy days, but it was extremely quiet and there was only the couple and us. The overall impression was that they resented us being there. The food in the tearoom is fine if a little unimaginative, but if your tea is a bit strong expect to pay £1 for extra water. I've visited many tearooms, but this the first time l've come across one that charges for this. Unfriendly and overpriced. We'll definitely avoid in the future.

On route to our holiday property my wife stopped in Rosedale Abbey village and asked me to pick up four scones from this store. This I did and was charged £6.50 which I paid naively not normally used to shopping. When I arrived back in the car my wife was so annoyed that I had been totally ripped off. I felt angry that I was too polite to question this charge. I foolishly trusted the individual concerned. We have previously visited this store en-route to our holiday accommodation but in future will give this rip-off merchant a very wide berth. The following day we picked up four scones in a nearby village which were not only nicer and fresher but we only paid £2 for four scones. You ripped us off on this occasion but I can assure you that you will not have another opportunity to do so ever again. Give this place a wide berth if you are looking for an honest purchase.

First things, The people that run this business are the most welcoming you could ask for in Yorkshire nothing being too much trouble. Me and my friends visited on a wet and windy Friday afternoon and were worried about being too mucky and damp for inside we were told to come in and warm up 'don't worry about it'. We proceeded to have a variety of coffees and teas which are made on a proper coffee machine non of this push button machine! They were fantastic! For food we had Ham Brie and Cranberry toasties, BLT's and the best Bacon sandwiches i've ever tasted. This was of course followed by cakes and scones, HIGHLY RECOMEND Blueberry and Ginger scones my word these were good! I will be returning whenever I am in the area. As for the other reviews on here I really think you maybe need to take a look at yourselves this is a independently run business and you get what you pay for! If you like mass produced and priced baking then by all means stick to that but DO NOT come on here slating a place for their prices this is a completely different business to your highstreet 'Greggs or Thomas's' and yes prices do reflect this rightly so!

What a shame places like this don’t welcome everyone with the same friendly manner! As locals truly disappointed to be refused to be allowed to purchase cake from the shop to take on our walk and told it was bring saved for regulars, even though it was clearly displayed in the shop and not the tea room with boxes to take it away! We were informed if we were to eat the same cake in the tearoom we could have it…. How could it have been saved for the regulars then???? Will be visiting the other much friendlier tearoom in the village as usual in future! Very arrogant man who did not portray the usual friendly atmosphere for this area!

It is very rare that me and my partner get some child free time, so when we do we always hope for a nice day out. Today we came to Rosedale to do some walking and a lunch. We decided on Abbey tea room and we are so happy that we did. They first thing I look for when going into an eatery is how welcoming the staff are and how comfortable I feel in the surroundings. I was given warm welcome and staff were chatty and very friendly. This goes a long way with me as I find so many places are happy to take your money but not so keen to be polite. I found the tea room very clean and well presented. I thought the idea to have menus under the glass top of the table was a great idea. All items could be studied easily and was a big plus for health and hygiene due to the lack of handling of the menus. We ordered soup for starters which was delicious and came with some tasty crusty bread. The cook was mucking in to help bring out the food and she was a really friendly lady who was pleasant and courteous. The waitress was also really pleasant and her customer service was outstanding. Everybody was doing their bit and at one point we even had a conversation with the kitchen lad about cricket and also dealt with the lady from the shop who cleared our plates. We had a laugh and a giggle and by this time I had already decided Id be back. Our main course consisted of a cheese and ham toastie, with a hint of chilli, a beautifully presented salad and a side of big chunky chips. Yum. My partner commented that it was the best toastie she had ever had and I would agree. We had a pot of tea and took away a bakewell and choc brownie. Everything was a good portion and by the end I was stuffed. The cakes were a really generous size which is rare nowadays. Its always nice to eat out and get great food and feel like you have had a good fill. Obviously sometimes its hard to get both especially at a good price. At Abbey tea rooms they have everything that I look for. Friendly staff, nice surroundings, great food, great portions and not overly priced. I cant wait to come back and on behalf of me and my partner thank you for rounding off our day perfectly.

We were lucky to visit here a few times during our stay in Rosedale Abbey. It’s in the best setting with fab outside tables of which there are many. Despite how busy they get we always managed to get a table. Lovely coffee and breakfasts. I am newly gluten free so struggle to eat out. They do have gf crumpets and a scone on the menu but on one visit they didn’t have any so I couldn’t eat. The crumpets when well toasted are lovely but not so much if not toasted properly. The staff are lovely and work really hard. This tearoom like the other one in the village gets extremely busy so you have to be prepared to wait. I would only say that on two occasions I overheard the cook being not very nice to the staff serving, once when we were sitting in (on a rainy day) and once sitting outside next to an open window, which as a paying customer you don’t want to hear as doesn’t give a very good impression. Overall I can highly recommend and the fact that we visited many times on our holiday says it all.

We were recently camping in Rosedale Abbey and popped in here one lunch time. They have a breakfast menu, a lunch menu, a pudding menu and a cake counter. All of the menus were underneath the glass on the tables, which was clever, they were easier to read and are also 'covid secure'. I had a pot of peppermint tea to drink, my boyfriend had a decaf cappuccino. I decided to go for a jacket potato with cheese, (which is also served with coleslaw and side salad) although after I had ordered, I noticed there was a specials board on the wall. If I had seen this beforehand, I would have ordered something from there instead. I didn't want to cause any hassle by changing my order so I just left it at that. I will remember to check next time I come for a specials board. My boyfriend had Yorkshire ham sandwiches, which were also served with coleslaw and side salad. I chose a summer fruits cake from the counter for our pudding which was tasty. Afterwards I asked the gentleman in the shop about the Wifi, he gave me a little piece of paper for free, with a code for 90 free minutes of Wifi. In total, we paid £19.10 for our drinks and food.

Rosedale is a beautiful location with several tea rooms in close location, so you have a choice. Abbey tea rooms were very disappointing in as much as tea for two persons came with a pot containing one tea bag. The ironic thing was they had a sign “ shop local” if everyone spent £5 locally etc. Well tea for two with one tea bag will not encourage you to buy locally and at £4 for hot water and a single tea bag, no thank you.

What a gem of a tea room, found purely by accident whilst touring Yorkshire on our motorbike. I loved the gentleman that owned this tea room and his typical Yorkshire mannorisums (A spade is a spade!) he made me chuckle. The food was excellent and all homemade served in beautiful gardens alongside a stream. If visiting this area, please go and see for yourself, you will not be disappointed!

Was a lovely sunny day, we sat outside even though place was busy we got served quite quickly. Only one person allowed in at a time to order the food when we went due to covid but the queue went down quite quickly. Food was lovely will definitely call again.

Set in the middle of Rosedale Abbey Village, the tea room is a lovely place for a breakfast before you head out walking, cycling, running, just wombling around or green laning with friends like we were. The coffee was spot on for me, a little on the strong side but rich and flavourful, the bacon sandwich was fabulous as it was good thick cut bacon perfectly cooked in a really tasty wholegrain roll, my friends had a range of their menu selection and the general consensus was that we're going there again as a starting point and maybe a mid day break spot! The food is inexpensive for a tea room in the middle of tourist country and well worth coming for if you're in the area. The shop is ideal for outdoorsy people with local maps and goods on sale. The owners are warm and friendly people with a great sense of humour who are also locals and so very knowledgeable about the area.

Went for breakfast, two couples and 4 young children. Had a range of sandwiches and a full english, all was top notch, piping hot and really tasty! The day before my wife and sister in law visited and were very impressed. One had poached and the other scrambled egg with smoked salmon. Again, the friendly service left a lasting positive impression.Huge compliments to the owner, a lady who's name I did not catch, she was so friendly and welcoming to us all. Will be back!

It became our default coffee shop during our stay in Rosedale. On Day 1 we started on the delicious scones; Day 2 was just the coffees; Day 4 it was the lunch time soup and Day 5 was the full English breakfast! The reception was charming and full of Yorkshire wit; the coffee was perfect and the food was beautifully cooked and well presented. We loved it!

We had been out on the moors above Rosedale. Very cold up there and we went for breakfast here. We have been before and glad to say it is still as excellent. We both had the lite breakfast and everything was freshly cooked. The sausages were very tasty. Lovely welcoming owners and a great atmosphere. The shop is good and stocks a wide range of things and also some nice gifts too. Bought scones to take home with us and just sitting enjoying a scone with a cuppa back home in Bridlington. We will return again soon

If i could physically give this establishment minus stars i would!!!! Down right disgusting owners with no manners or respect for their employees food isnt even that good I have tasted better ready meals than their food wouldnt even feed it to my dog, and on top of that iv never heard such racist things from owners of a business i have two children of colour and the remarks recieved about them were down right disgusting. I dont expect to be discriminated against when sat in a tea room and to latter be made fun of by the owners just because of race!

We called in for lunch just as a large coach party was leaving. The staff were apologetic and explained there would be a slight delay as the tables all needed clearing and cleaning. Quite understandable, and we were in no hurry, and placed our order.

Had a drive out and called at this cafe for some lunch. It was such a beautiful day so we sat outside overlooking the green. I had a very tasty ham and pickle sandwich and hubby had a BLT, both served with a pretty and tasty side salad and beetroot pickle. Had to have a couple of delicious scones to follow - would have been rude not to! We shared a sultana scone and a blueberry and ginger scone, both served with tasty jam and clotted cream, all washed down with the nicest tasting latte I have had for a long time and hubby had a pot of tea. Bill came to £22, which was well worth it for the fab food and very professional and friendly service. Had a regular table visit from a very tame blackbird too! If you are passing, do yourself a favour and call in. Take cash or you can pay by a debit card.

We've visited many times and chosen from the breakfast menu which has always been first class. However today I decided to choose a punjabi lunch special which was brown lentil Dahl yogurt, salad and freshly made chapati, oh my word it was first class. Well worth the 36 mile round trip. The owner & waitress are lovely, so friendly and helpful and seem very genuine that you enjoy your visit. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed

My first visit to this pub and what a change from many of Skiptons tourist orintated watering holes a true"local". Excellent choice of cask beers and some quickfire crac with the barman. I'll be in again.
