Our first experience of the bottomless brunch in July was flawless! I even recommended The Abbey to several friends. Sadly, yesterday was not the same. We felt like we were invisible from the start, waiting to be sat and seeing other people who came after us being seated first. We then waited FIFTY(!!!!) minutes to be served our first drink at the bottomless brunch. Our bottomless brunch started at 4pm rather than 3pm in the end. Everyone around us was being served, but apparently our particular table did 'not have a server'. During the wait, my friend went up several times to the bar to be met with some unhelpful waitresses with bad attitudes, shrugging, who were more interested in serving the people at the bar, even though we had actually prebooked our table and paid our deposit. We understood and appreciated it was busy which is why we gave it time but we felt very singled out to see people who turned up after us being served. Luke, Alana and the chef eventually saved the day, offering us free shots due to the delay, reimbursing us part of the brunch and Luke did a good job serving us.... I feel like they definitley deserve good recognition! Hence the 4 stars. Hopefully we will be back one day to retry and can leave a more positive review then!

Honestly the Best Bottomless brunch I have ever attended, the staff member servicing us (Gary) has the most comedic personality and kept us well supplied for the evening - place legitimately deserves Michelin's stars.

Not the best pub and got a damp smell in the air but Guinness was ok

Lovey pub, good drinks selection, always very polite and welcoming staff. Usually a great pub. However yesterday I came in to watch sports and there was a man so drunk, it beggared belief for 6.30. He was LOUDLY singing, shouting, constantly banging tables as hard as possible. This went on for the entirety of a football match and ruined the viewing experience for many. It was observed by multiple staff (and security) whom turned a blind eye. There’s no way someone this drunk and rowdy (during a social sports event) should continue to be served, whatever the occasion. Hopefully it’s just a one off because it’s usually one of my go-to pubs for a pint when I’m in town.

Craig (our server) was amazing!!! We left tipsy, full and proper happy. Will be coming back!

A group of us came about a month ago for the bottomless brunch to celebrate a birthday. I think our server's name was Jess. She was excellent, kept the drinks coming, friendly and professional.

Charlie served us for bottomless brunch and she was amazing, so lovely and polite, recommend us her favourite cocktails!! Charlie you are amazing! Great drinks, great food. Highly recommend!

Leanne was amazing give her a payrise always made sure we have enough drinks running. Only advice would be get some music playing to get the vibes flowing

Great place to watch sport. Nice big friendly pub. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, good selection of drinks. Reasonable prices. We thought the pizzas were great too. Recommend. Enjoyed on our weekend in Gloucester

Again we had a wonderful night with family and friends. The Bottomless brunch is the one! Served by Jess J who was very tentative and the Team headed up by Gary were equally superb!

6 of us came for our friends birthday. We had bottomless brunch with Kaci as our server. She was an absolute delight and attentive. The makeup matched her hair, we knew we were in safe hands 😂 would recommend highly

Quite a large place. Tap beers and ciders available. Large TV on the wall with a few smaller dotted around. I had a pint of Guinness which was at a reasonable price. Wooden floors throughout. Mix match of tables and chairs. Wheelchair accessable with plenty of room to manoeuvre. Staff were friendly and polite. Beer was reasonable. Good visit.

Had a midday brunch. The food was great and the service was fab. Leanne really looked after us. She was friendly and made sure our drinks were topped up the whole 2 hours of the brunch. Couldn't have asked for better service. Thanks to Leanne we had a fun start to our day xx

My mate and i booked Bottomless Brunch yesterday for the first time. It did not disappoint….food ewas excellent and the drinks kept coming. Craig was amazing running around and making sure we did not dry up. Atmosphere was buzzing as a few groups having the same….in fact we were asked to join another group afterwards and boy what fun we had !!!! Fully reccommend

Great place to celebrate my birthday. First time doing bottomless brunch... Well, let's just say they didn't hold back on supplying us with loads of drinks.

The Abbey had me booked in for a bottomless brunch to celebrate my 30th this Saturday coming, 6th of July. Even though I made the enquiry on the 23rd of June, confirmed and received my payment on the 28th of June - they cancelled today 3rd of July suddenly, making me aware they couldn't accommodate us - and completely untangling my birthday plans for me. A great shame, as I've been before and it was great. Now I'm stressing out reorganising all my guests and returning their deposits even though im not refunded yet! So Im doubly out of pocket, its too late to book anywhere else, so here i am with no birthday plans.

Currently in the abbey having the bottomless brunch being served by the lovely Leanne! She has been amazing with serving us drinks and deserves a big bonus! Thank you for the best time!!!

Bar staff were lovely however the food was not so great I ordered the crowd pleaser and the chef came out and threw the ticket at the bar staff saying “ you know I don’t make these” right in front of me and my friend the food came out originally missing the garlic bread, it came out with halloumi fries not halloumi skewers and the chicken wings were clearly over cooked and hitting it on the plate you could hear how overcooked they were. They were also really chewy. The onion rings were cooked in a high heat fryer and the onion inside was still hard I know places make them different but not this hard. My friend who had the peri peri chicken wasn’t as pleased with her food either the chicken was overcooked and basically solid she couldn’t cut into it and was basically tasteless. The bar staff Craig and Alana were amazing and really apologetic for what I witnessed with the chef however it is a job that you choose to do and you can’t pick and choose what you want to make for customers unless it’s out of stock. I’ve only been here a handful of times and this would be the first time eating here however I will most likely not come back here for food.

Four of us had bottomless brunch Saturday of Bank holiday weekend, gloucester rugby playing home, and few rugby games on the screens, very busy. We were running late due to traffic, on arrival the young lady booked us in and said she would start our 2hrs from now, they were short staffed due to illness, but the young lady Ruby was excellent, attentive and really looked after us, even though it was mega busy. The food was really good for pub grub, tasty and nice and hot. BB was great value and would 100% recommend it.. Ruby four stars alone for you

Came for another bottomless brunch Friday early evening. Food n drink excellent as ever. I must make the point though on what amazing service we had from RUBY. She was so attentive , friendly and offered such warmth I felt the need to write this review

Bit of a big old barn of a place nicely done out though but empty when I visited had a couple of drinks on a Thursday night but it didn't fill up maybe I was too early

My first time visiting here We booked a bottomless brunch It was a busy Saturday afternoon and the atmosphere was great.

Just popped in on Friday lunchtime. Nobody behind the bar. Waited a few minutes. Nobody serving so walked out. Soulless place.

Been coming here for years, since new management entered it’s dreadful the toilets are a mess the food is horrible, the atmosphere is gone you can’t even laugh anymore. Better off going spoons at least the manager has hair there.

Went in for a quick drink on our travel home as we wanted some proper food. We'll it didn't disappoint! Food piping hot (sometimes rare these days) and delicious. Service came with a smile as Luke was more than happy to answer any questions we had.. espically over my food allergies! I found something I could have! Thank you Luke, you made a real difference!

Good and drinks were 10 out of 10 and couldn’t have asked to be served by better staff, especially Luke, he was very attentive knew what he was talking about. Great selection of drinks would definitely recommend

Was here the other day on a works trip! Had a great time, food was wonderful and couldn’t have asked for more of luke! Looked after us hand and foot! Amazing place, amazing lad! Will be returning when I’m next down!

The man behind the bar, I think it’s the manager was unhelpful and too busy on his phone to serve me. We waiting 15 mins with no acknowledgment so left. This place is a right dive now unfortunately!

Went here last night for food, had mixed grill the chicken looked like it was cooked on the radiator! I complained and the manager said you get what you pay for and demanded we left immediately! Never been so insulted in all my life. Avoid at all costs!

Have now experienced three of the Bottomless Brunches at the Abbey. Good choice of food and drink. Always looked after nicely by Leanne, Jess and the other members of the team. Having Lemonade as a mixer rather than tonic or soda with some of the options, is a preference for us, as we aren't fan's. So thankyou for accommodating this. I am sure we will return!

Overpriced spirits, especially considering the price of the drinks in the surrounding area. A good place to chill and have a chat.

Amie was AMAZING!!! We had the bottomless brunch and she was so friendly plus she kept coming over and asking us what we wanted to drink next before we had even finished our drinks which is what ever bottomless bruncher wants to get the most out of their money!! ❤️❤️

5:15 on a Saturday afternoon and The Abbey was already packed. I'm glad we arrived when we did as the rugby crowd started to follow us in and it became very busy. I'm not sure what it is with Gloucester, but even though it was early, everyone was well on the way to being battered or already were. The bar, as expected, was very busy. The barman looked at me like I was retarded when I asked it they had a Pinot Grigio Rose (for the wife) and claimed no such thing existed. Not to worry, a regular Pinot would suffice ... but disappointing to see the Rose on the wine list we later managed to get hold of. Someone obviously had too much to drink as one of the stalls in the gents was absolutely covered in vomit, all over the toilet, up the walls, all over the floor ... rather unpleasant.

Not sure about the food because I haven't eaten,the service is very good considering I usually go on a Friday,the atmosphere is great especially on karaoke night.

Alana served us for bottomless brunch on Wednesday and we had a fantastic day combined with her excellent service we will be returning.

A group of four of us went for the Bottomless Brunch on Saturday. We had delicious food and the service was brilliant! Plenty of Prosecco and cocktails, our waitress kept the drinks flowing and nothing was too much trouble. It was a big rugby day so started to get busy, but this didn’t effect the table service and added to the great atmosphere. Definitely recommend and we’ll be rebooking. Thank you The Abbey! 🙂

Not been in here for a long while and I really enjoyed it. Great choice of beers and not expensive eigher. Bar was full of people who were enjoying themselves. Keep the great vibe going guys it is brilliant what you have there.

So food is OK, pizza was good And I do recognise it was a match day but an hour from ordering to food finally arriving is a bit much. Staff were clearly rushed and suspect they need more staff on match day, not like matches are scheduled! Not critising staff more management for not planning . Also the app needs improving

My three friends and I attended a bottomless brunch here on Saturday 18th November. It was our first time visiting and we had a really pleasant experience! Alana was our server and she was so friendly and accommodating. The handmade cocktails were excellent (we chose to upgrade) - one of the best espresso martinis we have tried! The bottle of rosé prosecco on arrival was also a really nice touch. The food was really tasty (between us, we had the beef, chicken and veggie burgers) and arrived at the table piping hot. The venue was really busy, with lots of other tables, but it didn’t impact our experience. We would certainly come again 😊

Karaoke night with a crowd pleaser loved it

The Abbey is a great place to stop at on a night out. Great drinks and amazing food. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Cannot wait to come back again.

Have been to the Abbey pub many times over the years. Though the interior is still the same it looks as tho it has changed ownership and is now under a craft social. Plenty of tables and an outdoor courtyard. Area with pool table. And big screen TV but if that's not your thing you can sit well away from it. In cosy booths. Having made both my food and drink choices I decided to try ordering through the app ...which was easily accessed via the qr code . I went with a g&t ...now I like my tonic separate ...so I was a little peeved when it arrived already mixed. However when the stunning floral crafted gin was put in front of me all was forgiven. My cutlery and a selection of condiments were brought prior to my food arriving. Which also was extremely good and well presented. Drink prices pretty average...food maybe a little more than you'd pay say at a wetherspoons. Seemed very popular with all age groups.

We used the Abbey before Gloucester v Bath at kingsholm the atmosphere was really good it was really busy the staff were doing their best the burger that one of our party had looked really good reasonable prices and a good selection of drinks

Possibly the worst meal I've ever had in my life .ordered the piri piri chicken ,,£12.50 .Had to wait around 40 mins to come out .wish it hadn't come out at all. I dry crinkled up unseasoned piece of chicken,which resembled an insole of a shoe but with less flavour ,, pretty much indedable, with a garnish of salad ,a few chips ,1 small piece of garlic bread and a small corn . The only thing that made it piri piri ,was a tiny dip on the plate . Absolutely disgusting,,and washed down with the most expensive pint( £6.05) I've ever bought . Avoid this place at all costs . Go to wetherspoons,will cost you a 3rd of the price and puts this place to shame

Food average to poor.. service depends on clients.. my all female group and my partners all male group had very different experiences… won’t go back

Well… we have had plenty of work nights out here which have always been fun, however the cleanliness is severely lacking, especially in the toilets. The service is far too slow and the bar staff will look at you and walk away from you to serve someone who’s just walked up to the bar which is very frustrating…however all of our group would agree that Gary is great and clearly holding up the team.

I popped in on my lunch break. The chef Andrew recommended the fish and chips and it was delicious 😋

After visiting this pub we didn't have a great experience but after talking to manager he's rectified the situation, I understand things go wrong but it's how people put them right that matters, so thank you to the manager 🙂

Went up to the bar to order food, there were one or two other people. My friend and I waited 15 minutes. None of the bartenders even acknowledged us. They were too busy making bottomless brunch orders. All we wanted was somebody to say that they were really busy and to use the app, or to come back later. Just the fact that we were ignored for so long made us walk out. So did the other couple of people that we are waiting at the bar. We get that they were busy, but a bit of customer service would’ve gone a long way!!

We had a good lunch here. Good beer and food. Nice staff.

Security on the door declined entry to individual who was only slightly intoxicated however a couple of people later allowed someone who was very clear intoxicated and possibly an additional substances into the venue. Question the integrity of the security or possibly new to the job and on a power trip

Came for bottomless brunch, included food options on the new menu aren't as extensive as before, but the option to upgrade to full menu per person is okay. Standard drinks were all we needed, range of Gordons gins, and some pints and cocktails. Outside of bottomless brunch the Abbey is a good pub, reliable service and good sport options.

Absolutely a joke the place was empty but the door staff wouldn't let people in people bringing in their own fish and chips and nothing said and complete lack of atmosphere because so empty if I owned the place I would seriously look at the door staff I employ

Food is lovely but the bald man who i believe may be manager is very rude and patronising! was very rude to us as we ordered our food to the number on the table and not the number in the windowsill next to the table …. not our fault!!! Not happy but all other staff were lovely

Looks like a fun sports bar, but I wouldn’t recommend any of the food we tried from the menu. Went here with our family and my parents. We’re all foodies and can be happy with simple things but there was no love or quality in the food served to us. Our waitress was very bored serving us, a lot of food or beers weren’t available. We had to wait a very very long time for our shared plates to accompany our drinks, which were beyond empty when food arrived. The fries were of the worst I’ve ever had, soft and greasy, and greasy without any flavor. The tacos were served with some old aragula leaves, tasteless brownish guacamole and “cheese” and taco sauce from a (not very qualitative) jar. Dry Kara-age chicken and heavily fried halloumi bits, all very industrial. So don’t order these, unless after a pint or 4, or you’re going for quantity rather then quality. Sorry to give such a bad rating, but this is something that should seriously improve.

Had the bottomless brunch and our server Henry went above and beyond, always making sure we had everything we needed.

Me and my partner decided to pop in for a bite to eat and ended up very disappointed the service was very slow none of the tables were being cleaned while we was there the food was actually quite nice good job we ordered nachos and a burger and chips that could be eaten with fingers as weren't offered any cutlers or sauces or anything food was just placed on the table and the lady walked away we were planning on staying around for a couple of hours but ended up leaving straight after eating definitely very disappointed as I've had lunch in the pub a couple of times now and always be good service I honestly don't know what was going on today !

Gary the manger was an absolute rude man who is incompetent at his job yet every other staff member was amazing. Avoid Gary the the manager status goes to his head!!!

We had a bottomless brunch booking for 10 people and Henry who was looking after us was absolutely amazing! So attentive and always ensured we were ok and happy! Highly recommend the bottomless!

Took my daughter here for her birthday. The food was really tasty. Many thanks to the Kitchen Manager for the imaginative choices. The Manager served us and was really lovely and attentive to make sure we kept topped up with drinks. Would definitely return.
